Chapter 29 - The Lost Diadem“Alecto, Amycus's sister, teaches Muggle Studies, which is compulsory for everyone. We've all got to listen to her explain how Muggles are like animals, stupid and dirty, and how they drove wizards into hiding by being vicious toward them, and how the natural order is being reestablished. I got this one,” he indicated another slash to his face, “for asking her how much Muggle blood she and her brother have got.”Q1 - Obviously not entertaining Death Eater ideas, but do they have any kind of point?Thing was,” he faced them, and Harry was astonished to see that he was grinning, “they bit off a bit more than they could chew with Gran. Little old witch living alone, they probably thought they didn't need to send anyone particularly powerful. Anyway,” Neville laughed, “Dawlish is still in St. Mungo's and Gran's on the run. She sent me a letter,” he clapped a hand to the breast pocket of his robes, “telling me she was proud of me, that I'm my parents' son, and to keep it up.”Q2 - What do you think of all the students rebelling at Hogwarts?Q3 - What do you think about the Room of Requirement hideout?“There's something important we need to do —” “What is it?” “I — I can't tell you.” There was a ripple of muttering at this: Neville's brows contracted. “Why can't you tell us? It's something to do with fighting YouKnow-Who, right?” “Well, yeah —” “Then we'll help you.” The other members of Dumbledore's Army were nodding, some enthusiastically, others solemnly. A couple of them rose from their chairs to demonstrate their willingness for immediate action. “You don't understand.” Harry seemed to have said that a lot in the last few hours. “We — we can't tell you. We've got to do it — alone.” Q4 - Is it good they're being so secretive? Harry looked from Ron to Hermione, who murmured, “I think Ron's right. We don't even know what we're looking for, we need them.” And when Harry looked unconvinced, “You don't have to do everything alone, Harry.” Q5 - Should they tell?Q6 - Where is the Diadem?“Which came first, the phoenix or the flame?” “Hmm . . . What do you think, Harry?” said Luna, looking thoughtful. “What? Isn't there just a password?” “Oh no, you've got to answer a question,” said Luna. “What if you get it wrong?” “Well, you have to wait for somebody who gets it right,” said Luna. “That way you learn, you see?” “Yeah . . . Trouble is, we can't really afford to wait for anyone else, Luna.” “No, I see what you mean,” said Luna seriously. “Well then, I think the answer is that a circle has no beginning.” Q7 - What do you think about the Ravenclaw tower's entrance?Harry stepped out from under the Cloak and climbed up onto Ravenclaw's plinth to read them. “‘Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure.'” “Which makes you pretty skint, witless,” said a cackling voice. Harry whirled around, slipped off the plinth, and landed on the floor. The sloping-shouldered figure of Alecto Carrow was standing before him, and even as Harry raised his wand, she pressed a stubby forefinger to the skull and snake branded on her forearm. Chapter 30 - The Sacking of Severus Snape“We can push it off on the kids,” said Amycus, his piglike face suddenly crafty. “Yeah, that's what we'll do. We'll say Alecto was ambushed by the kids, them kids up there” — he looked up at the starry ceiling toward the dormitories — “and we'll say they forced her to press her Mark, and that's why he got a false alarm. . . . He can punish them. Couple of kids more or less, what's the difference?” “Only the difference between truth and lies, courage and cowardice,” said Professor McGonagall, who had turned pale, “a difference, in short, which you and your sister seem unable to appreciate. But let me make one thing very clear. You are not going to pass off your many ineptitudes on the students of Hogwarts. I shall not permit it.” Q1 - Thoughts on McGongall and the Carrows?“It's not a case of what you'll permit, Minerva McGonagall. Your time's over. It's us what's in charge here now, and you'll back me up or you'll pay the price.” And he spat in her face. Harry pulled the Cloak off himself, raised his wand, and said, “You shouldn't have done that.” As Amycus spun around, Harry shouted, “Crucio!” Q2 - Should Harry have used crucio?“Time's running out, Voldemort's getting nearer. Professor, I'm acting on Dumbledore's orders, I must find what he wanted me to find! But we've got to get the students out while I'm searching the castle — it's me Voldemort wants, but he won't care about killing a few more or less, not now —” not now he knows I'm attacking Horcruxes, Harry finished the sentence in his head. “You're acting on Dumbledore's orders?” she repeated with a look of dawning wonder. Then she drew herself up to her fullest height. “We shall secure the school against He-Who-Must-Not-BeNamed while you search for this — this object.” “Is that possible?” “I think so,” said Professor McGonagall dryly, “we teachers are rather good at magic, you know. I am sure we will be able to hold him off for a while if we all put our best efforts into it. Of course, something will have to be done about Professor Snape —” She marched toward the door, and as she did so she raised her wand. From the tip burst three silver cats with spectacle markings around their eyes. The Patronuses ran sleekly ahead, filling the spiral staircase with silvery light, as Professor McGonagall, Harry, and Luna hurried back down.Q3 - What was the doe Patronus?“No, he's not dead,” said McGonagall bitterly. “Unlike Dumbledore, he was still carrying a wand . . . and he seems to have learned a few tricks from his master.” With a tingle of horror, Harry saw in the distance a huge, batlike shape flying through the darkness toward the perimeter wall. There were heavy footfalls behind them, and a great deal of puffing: Slughorn had just caught up.Q4 - Is Snape as dark as Voldemort?“My word,” he puffed, pale and sweaty, his walrus mustache aquiver. “What a to-do! I'm not at all sure whether this is wise, Minerva. He is bound to find a way in, you know, and anyone who has tried to delay him will be in most grievous peril —” “I shall expect you and the Slytherins in the Great Hall in twenty minutes, also,” said Professor McGonagall. “If you wish to leave with your students, we shall not stop you. But if any of you attempt to sabotage our resistance or take up arms against us within this castle, then, Horace, we duel to kill.” “Minerva!” he said, aghast. “The time has come for Slytherin House to decide upon its loyalties,” interrupted Professor McGonagall. “Go and wake your students, Horace.”Q5 - Do we trust Slughorn? There was a scuffling and a great thump: Someone else had clambered out of the tunnel, overbalanced slightly, and fallen. He pulled himself up on the nearest chair, looked around through lopsided horn-rimmed glasses, and said, “Am I too late? Has it started? I only just found out, so I — I —” Percy spluttered into silence. Evidently he had not expected to run into most of his family.Q6 - Do we trust Percy? How do you like him coming back at this moment?“I was a fool!” Percy roared, so loudly that Lupin nearly dropped his photograph. “I was an idiot, I was a pompous prat, I was a — a —” “Ministry-loving, family-disowning, power-hungry moron,” said Fred. Percy swallowed. “Yes, I was!” “Well, you can't say fairer than that,” said Fred, holding out his hand to Percy. Mrs. Weasley burst into tears. She ran forward, pushed Fred aside, and pulled Percy into a strangling hug, while he patted her on the back, his eyes on his father. “Where's Ron?” asked Harry. “Where's Hermione?” “They must have gone up to the Great Hall already,” Mr. Weasley called over his shoulder. “I didn't see them pass me,” said Harry. “They said something about a bathroom,” said Ginny, “not long after you left.” “A bathroom?” Q7 - Where did they go?Chapter 31 - The Battle of HogwartsQ1 - What did you think of the students staying back to help and do they stand any chance against Voldemort and the Elder wand?“Well, help me, then!” Her composure was slipping. “It — it is not a question of —” she stammered. “My mother's diadem —” “Your mother's?” She looked angry with herself. “When I lived,” she said stiffly, “I was Helena Ravenclaw.” “You're her daughter? But then, you must know what happened to it!” Q2 - What do you think about the Grey Lady?“He tracked me to the forest where I was hiding. When I refused to return with him, he became violent. The Baron was always a hot-tempered man. Furious at my refusal, jealous of my freedom, he stabbed me.” “The Baron? You mean — ?” “The Bloody Baron, yes,” said the Gray Lady, and she lifted aside the cloak she wore to reveal a single dark wound in her white chest. “When he saw what he had done, he was overcome with remorse. He took the weapon that had claimed my life, and used it to kill himself. All these centuries later, he wears his chains as an act of penitence . . . as he should,” she added bitterly. Q3 - What do you think of her story?“He hid the diadem in the castle, the night he asked Dumbledore to let him teach!” said Harry. Saying it out loud enabled him to make sense of it all. “He must've hidden the diadem on his way up to, or down from, Dumbledore's office! But it was still worth trying to get the job — then he might've got the chance to nick Gryffindor's sword as well — thank you, thanks!” Q4 - Do you understand why he applied for the job now?“— attacking because they haven't handed you over, yeah,” said Aberforth, “I'm not deaf, the whole of Hogsmeade heard him. And it never occurred to any of you to keep a few Slytherins hostage? There are kids of Death Eaters you've just sent to safety. Wouldn't it have been a bit smarter to keep 'em here?” Q5 - Would you have kept a few Slytherins captive?“I was the last to come through,” said Mrs. Longbottom. “I sealed it, I think it unwise to leave it open now Aberforth has left his pub. Have you seen my grandson?” “He's fighting,” said Harry. “Naturally,” said the old lady proudly. “Excuse me, I must go and assist him.” With surprising speed she trotted off toward the stone steps. Q6 - Understand why I love Neville so much now?Q7 - What do you think of Crabbe and Goyle and Malfoy? And he saw them: Malfoy with his arms around the unconscious Goyle, the pair of them perched on a fragile tower of charred desks, and Harry dived. Malfoy saw him coming and raised one arm, but even as Harry grasped it he knew at once that it was no good: Goyle was too heavy and Malfoy's hand, covered in sweat, slid instantly out of Harry's — “IF WE DIE FOR THEM, I'LL KILL YOU, HARRY!” roared Ron's voice, and, as a great flaming chimaera bore down upon them, he and Hermione dragged Goyle onto their broom and rose, rolling and pitching, into the air once more as Malfoy clambered up behind Harry.Q8 - What do you think about Harry saving them and Crabbe dying? He pulled the diadem from his wrist and held it up. It was still hot, blackened with soot, but as he looked at it closely he was just able to make out the tiny words etched upon it: Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure. A bloodlike substance, dark and tarry, seemed to be leaking from the diadem. Suddenly Harry felt the thing vibrate violently, then break apart in his hands, and as it did so, he thought he heard the faintest, most distant scream of pain, echoing not from the grounds or the castle, but from the thing that had just fragmented in his fingers.Q9 - They're getting close…Nagini is only left? Then he heard a terrible cry that pulled at his insides, that expressed agony of a kind neither flame nor curse could cause, and he stood up, swaying, more frightened than he had been that day, more frightened, perhaps, than he had been in his life. . . . And Hermione was struggling to her feet in the wreckage, and three redheaded men were grouped on the ground where the wall had blasted apart. Harry grabbed Hermione's hand as they staggered and stumbled over stone and wood. “No — no — no!” someone was shouting. “No! Fred! No!” And Percy was shaking his brother, and Ron was kneeling beside them, and Fred's eyes stared without seeing, the ghost of his last laugh still etched upon his face. Q10 - RIP Fred…Chapter 32 - The Elder WandShe had pulled Ron behind a tapestry: They seemed to be wrestling together, and for one mad second Harry thought that they were embracing again; then he saw that Hermione was trying to restrain Ron, to stop him running after Percy. “Listen to me — LISTEN, RON!” “I wanna help — I wanna kill Death Eaters —” His face was contorted, smeared with dust and smoke, and he was shaking with rage and grief. “Ron, we're the only ones who can end it! Please — Ron — we need the snake, we've got to kill the snake!” said Hermione. But Harry knew how Ron felt: Pursuing another Horcrux could not bring the satisfaction of revenge; he too wanted to fight, to punish them, the people who had killed Fred, and he wanted to find the other Weasleys, and above all make sure, make quite sure, that Ginny was not — but he could not permit that idea to form in his mind — Q1 - What do you think of Ron's anger and grief here?Q2 - Is Hagrid dead?“How — how're we going to get in?” panted Ron. “I can — see the place — if we just had — Crookshanks again —” “Crookshanks?” wheezed Hermione, bent double, clutching her chest. “Are you a wizard, or what?”Q3 - Do you remember where you first read this line?“. . . my Lord, their resistance is crumbling —” “— and it is doing so without your help,” said Voldemort in his high, clear voice. “Skilled wizard though you are, Severus, I do not think you will make much difference now. We are almost there . . . almost.” “Let me find the boy. Let me bring you Potter. I know I can find him, my Lord. Please.” Snape did not speak. “Perhaps you already know it? You are a clever man, after all, Severus. You have been a good and faithful servant, and I regret what must happen.” “My Lord —” “The Elder Wand cannot serve me properly, Severus, because I am not its true master. The Elder Wand belongs to the wizard who killed its last owner. You killed Albus Dumbledore. While you live, Severus, the Elder Wand cannot be truly mine.” “My Lord!” Snape protested, raising his wand. “It cannot be any other way,” said Voldemort. “I must master the wand, Severus. Master the wand, and I master Potter at last.” And Voldemort swiped the air with the Elder Wand. It did nothing to Snape, who for a split second seemed to think he had been reprieved: But then Voldemort's intention became clear. The snake's cage was rolling through the air, and before Snape could do anything more than yell, it had encased him, head and shoulders, and Voldemort spoke in Parseltongue. “Kill.” Q4 - Initially you were happy Snape died…has your tune changed?Harry took off the Invisibility Cloak and looked down upon the man he hated, whose widening black eyes found Harry as he tried to speak. Harry bent over him, and Snape seized the front of his robes and pulled him close. A terrible rasping, gurgling noise issued from Snape's throat. “Take . . . it. . . . Take . . . it. . . .” Something more than blood was leaking from Snape. Silvery blue, neither gas nor liquid, it gushed from his mouth and his ears and his eyes, and Harry knew what it was, but did not know what to do — A flask, conjured from thin air, was thrust into his shaking hands by Hermione. Harry lifted the silvery substance into it with his wand. When the flask was full to the brim, and Snape looked as though there was no blood left in him, his grip on Harry's robes slackened. “Look . . . at . . . me. . . .” he whispered. The green eyes found the black, but after a second, something in the depths of the dark pair seemed to vanish, leaving them fixed, blank, and empty. The hand holding Harry thudded to the floor, and Snape moved no more. Q6 - What do you think?Q7 - Voldemort owns the Elder Wand now?

MAGA is bewildered by Trump candidates' losses. We learned the crappy SCOTUS, who just voted in favor of corruption, will do the right thing for Idaho, letting emergency abortion care continue in the gem state. Scribbled in Parseltongue, Alito's sad vapid dissent against the White House social media position was pure victimhood. Oklahoma Supremes actually did a good thing banning the state from funding a Catholic school. Tooty Rudy Giuliani bankruptcy filings reveal a pattern of tasteless spending on Amazon. An evil husband and wife sex trafficking team in West Virginia, who surely voted for Trump, adopted African American children forcing them to work and live like slaves. A moronic State Trooper in Vermont deep into his authoritarian feelings arrested a man for flipping him the bird. Racist rapist Donald Trump has been inciting violence against migrants ahead of the next presidential election and is back to his old routine of accusing his political opponents of being jacked up drugs.

The hand holding Harry thudded to the floor, and Snape moved no more. Q6 - What do you think?Q7 - Voldemort owns the Elder Wand now?Chapter 33 - The Prince's TaleAs Ginny and Hermione moved closer to the rest of the family, Harry had a clear view of the bodies lying next to Fred: Remus and Tonks, pale and still and peaceful-looking, apparently asleep beneath the dark, enchanted ceiling.Q1 - What do you think about Tonks and Lupin?Q2 - In the beginning of the memory what do you think of Snape, Lily, and Tuneys connection?Q3 - Petunia wrote a letter to Dumbledore asking to be let into the school…do you understand her character more from this?Q4 - According to Snape's memory, what do you think of James and Sirius?Harry watched again as Snape left the Great Hall after sitting his O.W.L. in Defense Against the Dark Arts, watched as he wandered away from the castle and strayed inadvertently close to the place beneath the beech tree where James, Sirius, Lupin, and Pettigrew sat together. But Harry kept his distance this time, because he knew what happened after James had hoisted Severus into the air and taunted him; he knew what had been done and said, and it gave him no pleasure to hear it again. . . . He watched as Lily joined the group and went to Snape's defense. Distantly he heard Snape shout at her in his humiliation and his fury, the unforgivable word: “Mudblood.” Q5 - Why is this Snape's worst memory?“Her boy survives,” said Dumbledore. With a tiny jerk of the head, Snape seemed to flick off an irksome fly. “Her son lives. He has her eyes, precisely her eyes. You remember the shape and color of Lily Evans's eyes, I am sure?” “DON'T!” bellowed Snape. “Gone . . . dead . . .” “Is this remorse, Severus?” “I wish . . . I wish I were dead. . . .” “And what use would that be to anyone?” said Dumbledore coldly. “If you loved Lily Evans, if you truly loved her, then your way forward is clear.” Snape seemed to peer through a haze of pain, and Dumbledore's words appeared to take a long time to reach him. “What — what do you mean?” “You know how and why she died. Make sure it was not in vain. Help me protect Lily's son.” “He does not need protection. The Dark Lord has gone —” “The Dark Lord will return, and Harry Potter will be in terrible danger when he does.” There was a long pause, and slowly Snape regained control of himself, mastered his own breathing. At last he said, “Very well. Very well. But never — never tell, Dumbledore! This must be between us! Swear it! I cannot bear . . . especially Potter's son . . . I want your word!” “My word, Severus, that I shall never reveal the best of you?” Dumbledore sighed, looking down into Snape's ferocious, anguished face. “If you insist . . .” Q6 - Do you understand why Snape hated and yet protected Harry?“No,” said Snape, his black eyes on Fleur's and Roger's retreating figures. “I am not such a coward.” “No,” agreed Dumbledore. “You are a braver man by far than Igor Karkaroff. You know, I sometimes think we Sort too soon. . . .” Q7 - Do they sort too soon?Snape raised his eyebrows and his tone was sardonic as he asked, “Are you intending to let him kill you?” “Certainly not. You must kill me.” There was a long silence, broken only by an odd clicking noise. Fawkes the phoenix was gnawing a bit of cuttlebone. “Would you like me to do it now?” asked Snape, his voice heavy with irony. “Or would you like a few moments to compose an epitaph?” “Oh, not quite yet,” said Dumbledore, smiling. “I daresay the moment will present itself in due course. Given what has happened tonight,” he indicated his withered hand, “we can be sure that it will happen within a year.” “If you don't mind dying,” said Snape roughly, “why not let Draco do it?” “That boy's soul is not yet so damaged,” said Dumbledore. “I would not have it ripped apart on my account.” “And my soul, Dumbledore? Mine?” “You alone know whether it will harm your soul to help an old man avoid pain and humiliation,” said Dumbledore.Q8 - Do you understand why Snape killed Dumbledore now?“Harry must not know, not until the last moment, not until it is necessary, otherwise how could he have the strength to do what must be done?” “Tell him what?” Dumbledore took a deep breath and closed his eyes. “Tell him that on the night Lord Voldemort tried to kill him, when Lily cast her own life between them as a shield, the Killing Curse rebounded upon Lord Voldemort, and a fragment of Voldemort's soul was blasted apart from the whole, and latched itself onto the only living soul left in that collapsing building. Part of Lord Voldemort lives inside Harry, and it is that which gives him the power of speech with snakes, and a connection with Lord Voldemort's mind that he has never understood. And while that fragment of soul, unmissed by Voldemort, remains attached to and protected by Harry, Lord Voldemort cannot die.” Q9 - Harry is a Horcrux…“So the boy . . . the boy must die?” asked Snape quite calmly. “And Voldemort himself must do it, Severus. That is essential.” Another long silence. Then Snape said, “I thought . . . all these years . . . that we were protecting him for her. For Lily.” “We have protected him because it has been essential to teach him, to raise him, to let him try his strength,” said Dumbledore, his eyes still tight shut. “Meanwhile, the connection between them grows ever stronger, a parasitic growth: Sometimes I have thought he suspects it himself. If I know him, he will have arranged matters so that when he does set out to meet his death, it will truly mean the end of Voldemort.” Dumbledore opened his eyes. Snape looked horrified. “You have kept him alive so that he can die at the right moment?” “Don't be shocked, Severus. How many men and women have you watched die?” “Lately, only those whom I could not save,” said Snape. He stood up. “You have used me.” “Meaning?” “I have spied for you and lied for you, put myself in mortal danger for you. Everything was supposed to be to keep Lily Potter's son safe. Now you tell me you have been raising him like a pig for slaughter —” “But this is touching, Severus,” said Dumbledore seriously. “Have you grown to care for the boy, after all?” “For him?” shouted Snape. “Expecto Patronum!” From the tip of his wand burst the silver doe: She landed on the office floor, bounded once across the office, and soared out of the window. Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears. “After all this time?” “Always,” said Snape. Q10 - Does Snape love Harry?Q11 - What does always mean?Q12 - Do you get why Snape kept the letter?
Snakes…why'd it have to be snakes? There's a Burmese Python problem in Florida's Everglades which is dramatically altering the ecological balance in the Sunshine State. Currently, the only way to control these non-native, invasive snakes, is to send hunters deep into allegator infested swamps to find, capture, and kill these apex predators. Really, no Really! You might imagine these Hunters as burly “Crocodile Dundee-types” with sophisticated equipment, night vision, Rambo-style bowie knives, and guns, lots of guns. But reality is quite different. Our guest today Amy Siewe styles herself as the “Python Huntress;” she's a 5'4, 120lbs. woman who by trade is a realtor, who regularly captures these beasts – some as big as 20 feet, 250 pounds - using only a canvas bag and her wits. She has killed over 400 pythons using a quick and humane method but the number of endangered or threatened native species being eaten by these pythons is getting longer each year. Is this really the best solution to this problem and what does she do with all those dead snakes? The answers might surprise you. Learned what "parseltongue" means. Do you know?
It's a Cyclops 1-shot and we have so many questions! Like: Who the hell is this "Taylor Prescott"? What band was SOLAR a part of before turning to villainy? And the Oscar goes to...CHET?!! Episode 160: Parseltongue, Porto and The Iroquois Theater Disaster - Carol journeys through the land of dragons that inspired her beloved Harry Potter world; while Holly summons the spirits of the Iroquois Theater disaster.Definition: Parseltongue-is the language of serpents (as well as other magical serpent-based creatures, like the Runespoor) and those who can converse with them. An individual who can speak Parseltongue is known as a Parselmouth. It is a very uncommon skill, and is typically hereditary.Credits:Parseltongue, Porto- Parseltongue | The Harry Potter Compendium - Fandom | History of the Bridges of Porto | PortoBay Hotels & Resorts | Worst Bridge Collapses in History | Saint John's Eve - Wikipedia | Everything you need to know about São João festival in Porto | Portoalities | Livraria Lello, the Harry Potter bookstore in Porto | Lello Bookstore in Porto | The world famous 'Harry Potter' bookstore | " Here be dragons " - PORTO RUNNING TOURS | Where to visit House of the Dragon locations in Portugal | Sleep in a Giant Wine Barrel at Portugal's Quinta da Pacheca Estate | Visit Taylor Fladgate's Cellars in Porto | Cálem | What Is Francesinha, The Traditional Porto Sandwich | The ghost of São Bento train station in Porto | Blog Portoalities | A nun whose convent was destroyed in 1890s haunts the exquisite São Bento train station that took its place | The Vintage News | Black and White Photographs of Mousoleums in Cemitério de Agramonte – Gillian Hebblewhite | Escovaria de Belomonte - Comércio com História | How Harry Potter May Have Been Influenced by the Uniforms of University Students in Portugal | Mental Floss | This is how university students dress in my country, and yes Hogwarts uniform was inspired by this tradition. | The Cafe Majestic- Distinguished VisitorsThe Iroquois Theater Disaster-Chicago Hauntings: The Horrors Of The Iroquois Theater Fire That Killed 602 People Downtown In 1903, And Stories About Ghosts Left Behind |Wikipedia - Eddie Foy |American Ghost Walks - Iroquois Theater Fire |Wikipedia - Iroquois Theater Fire |Ghosts of the Iroquois Theater Fire |Hometown Ghost Stories | Celebrity Ghost Stories

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing whether or not Harry Potter became LESS powerful after the death of Lord Voldemort. It's no secret that Harry Potter possessed greater power than the average boy wizard, even from a young age. And while some of that may be attributed to his sheer will to live up to the expectations that the wizarding world had for "The Boy Who Lived", there's no denying the fact that some of his power came from his intrinsic link to the Dark Lord. For example, it was almost completely unheard of--and perhaps thought to be impossible by some--for a witch or wizard who was NOT a descendent of Salazar Slytherin to be able to speak Parseltongue. As we well know, however, this was one of Harry's many above-average magical abilities that he possessed from a very young age. One must simply remember when he spoke to the boa constrictor in the zoo--and made the glass disappear--at the mere age of 10 for proof of his innate talent as a Parselmouth. Episode 5 (Minutes 42:36 to 52:36): This week has students running just amok all over the castle. We (instantly) find the Grey Lady and find her to be a little rude. Lots of yelling and even some whooshing through Harry. Not great, Helena! Also, how does Ron know (and understand) Parseltongue from Harry talking in his sleep..? Join us next week for minutes 52:36 to 1:02:56!(Scene Marker: This chunk ends with Ron and Hermione pulling apart, laughing.)

Potter Revisited Episode #34 Lockhart Only Sees What's in The Mirror AKA Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 16 "The Chamber of Secrets" It's a book title chapter and a lot happens! How many times is the book title a chapter title in the series? The Profs expect students to revise and write exams at this point and we agree with the students outrage What about those students that were petrified for most of the year like Colin? Would they be exempt? Ron is very luck to not have to do his practical exams with his wand McGonagall has an announcement and very on brand - Wood thinks "Quidditch!" Shay talks about Quidditch likely being Oliver's coping mechanism Ginny is very anxious and wants to tell Harry and Ron something - Shay wonders if her inability to get the words out is the Horcrux prohibiting her Just as Ginny is about to say something, Percy comes to ruin everything Was Percy naive in believing Ginny wasn't going to tell Harry and Ron anything important The way Percy describes what Ginny walked in on makes it sound less innocent that what it is revealed to be later Harry comes up with a cover story and moves McGonagall to tears How did no one else notice the paper in Hermione's hand? Was it out of character for Hermione to rip a page out of a Library book? The way Harry and Ron use this information to connect everything is very impressive The first time Harry and Ron decide to go to a teacher first before acting - and it backfires Why didn't they just stay out in the staff room and give their information then - it was very important! The Profs ganging up on Lockhart is what we have been waiting for Ron, The Twins and Harry are all sitting together after the news of Ginny while Percy locks himself in his room after informing his parents. Is this showing the divide between Percy and his family already? Interesting that it is Ron's idea to go to Lockhart. Why didn't they try and find a competent teacher like McGonagall instead? Harry and Ron discover Lockhart's a fraud and he attempts to erase their memories - isn't that a HUGE crime? We discuss memory charms and if they should be ranked up with the unforgivable curses Ron is the one who tells Harry to speak Parseltongue to open the chamber - which comes back full circle in DH where he mimics Harry speaking it to go down with Hermione Shay wonders why Ron and Harry didn't include Fred and George on their adventure Lockhart causes a cave in and Harry and Ron are seperated - a very touching moment where they don't quite say anything but we get how important they are to each other Email any thoughts, questions or feedback to potterrevisitedpodcast@gmail.com Music: Shelter Song by Alexander Nakarada (www.serpentsoundstudios.com) Licensed under Creative Commons BY Attribution 4.0 License https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Follow Us: Facebook https://www.facebook.com/potterrevisited Twitter https://twitter.com/potterevisited Instagram https://www.instagram.com/potterrevisited_/ Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4v2Xt0OIQ8_LCVYhKf2S5A TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@potterrevisited
Potter Revisited Episode #29 Talk Snakey To Me AKA Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 11 "The Duelling Club" Ron's dark humour about Dobby is on point Why wasn't Colin sent to St Mungo's? Are Colin's parents aware of what has happened to him? The Twins way of cheering Ginny up is very them, yet probably not the best method Neville refers to himself as "Almost a Squib" which is probably all his Gran's fault Shay wishes we could have seen the Swelling Solution chaos in the film Harry is very lucky that Goyle's potion actually did what it was supposed to What profs would have been a better choice to run the duelling club? Did Dumbledore actually ask Lockhart to set up the Duelling Club or is that what Lockhart wants everyone to think? Snape is the one who taught Harry is signature spell Having a bunch of inexperienced kids just duel each other with little instruction and guidance seems like such a bad idea +1 Snape Suck count for Snape outing Neville as being incompetent in front of the whole school Did Snape have any intentions having Draco use the snake spell on Harry? We discuss how Parseltongue is more than just being able to speak and understand snakes Overhearing people talk about you - especially when it's wrong is the worst! Why didn't Harry tell the Hufflepuff's he is friends with Hermione? Does Hagrid have to get permission from Dumbledore everytime he uses magic? The way Nick is described when petrified is very eerie Harry is always in the wrong place at the wrong time We discuss how snakes are portrayed in literature and how it is used in the series Should Parseltongue be more common? We discuss what we know about it and how the stigma likely formed Are their similar gifts like parseltongue for other animals? Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is Luna Lovegood and the Chamber of Secrets, Part 9: Luna Lovegood and the Chamber of Secrets - Part 9, published by lsusr. The Ministry-sanctioned tour of the Chamber of Secrets was pure propaganda. The Marauder's Map showed a second entrance to the Chamber of Secrets hidden in the Girls' Bathroom. "Hss hsssss hsss," Luna copied from Harry Potter. A sink opened up into a large tunnel. "Lumos, Luna said. Each tunnel segment was designed in the same pattern as the previous, as if to deliberately disorient adventurers. Luna closed her eyes in case Slytherin's basilisk was still alive. "Nox," Luna said. It was quiet under the school. The tunnels smelled faintly of mildew. Ministry tours turned left at every fork. Luna placed her right hand on the right wall. She felt destiny wrapping around her. Salazar Slytherin's secrets would be hers. Luna followed the right wall until she bumped into the bones of a giant monster. "Lumos," Luna said. Some Gryffindor had slayed the basilisk before it could pass on its secrets to the Heir of Slytherin. Ministry archaeologists had defanged the skeleton. So much for destiny. Salazar Slytherin had circumvented the Interdict of Merlin. But why? If Slytherin had wanted secrets to be preserved then he could have just passed them on to his students. No. Ravenclaw had positioned her diadem to be discovered by someone hunting nargles. Slytherin had done something similar. But who was his target? Only a Parselmouth could talk to Slytherin's basilisk. Only a Parselmouth could enter the Chamber of Secrets. If only a Parselmouth could talk to the basilisk then it made sense to make the entrance only allow Parselmouths in so that you didn't get a Gryffindor charging in and killing the basilisk before talking to it. Except Slytherin's security by obscurity had failed. That left the question of why. Parselmouthes were not special. They did not have secondary characteristics. There was no reason for Salazar Slytherin to leave his greatest secrets to someone random to find. The only thing he would know about the Heir of Slytherin was that whoever opened the Chamber of Secrets: Could speak Parseltongue and could therefore communicate with Slytherin's basilisk. Would have opened the Chamber of Secrets. Chamber of Secrets. Plural. The mazelike passageways echoed Daedalus's Labryinth. The Heir of Slytherin was supposed to use Salazar's secrets to slay the monster Slytherin himself never could. Instead, a Gryffindor had broken into the Chamber of Secrets first, slayed Slytherin's basilisk, released the real monster, declared victory and returned home. Luna bolted to the Ministry-sanctioned exit. The Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff semifinal duel was that evening. Luna faced two Hufflepuffs. It was supposed to be a doubles tournament. "I'm not alone," Luna said to Wanda, "I have you." Gilderoy Lockhart counted down. There was a bang from his wand. "Protego," Luna said. Luna's shield blocked the first Hufflepuff's sleep hex. The second Hufflepuff's stunning hex smashed through her shield. Luna collapsed. The Hufflepuffs rushed up to check on Luna. "Somnium," Luna whispered, "Somnium." Luna felt around for the unconscious Wanda, who she stuffed in her pocket. Luna stood up and held her wand high. Thanks for listening. Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is Luna Lovegood and the Chamber of Secrets, Part 5: Luna Lovegood and the Chamber of Secrets , published by lsusr. "What do you mean 'bureaucratically impossible'?" said Harry James Potter-Evans-Verres. "It just is," said Mad-Eye Moody. "Nothing 'just is'," Harry said, "Everything happens for a material reason. What precisely is preventing you from acquiring the permits?" "I suspect an unfriendly nation-state is employing bureaucramancy against us," Moody said. "Bureaucramancy," Harry said dryly. Didn't the Ministry of Magic understand how important this was? No, because Harry had declared the existence of the Sorcerer's Stone to be top secret. "Can't we just build it without the permits?" Harry said. "I hope you're not insinuating that a trusted Auror like myself might allow expediency to outweigh accountability," Moody said. "As if you cared about accountability when you assassinated the Dark Lord of Berzerkistan," said Harry. "I can neither confirm nor deny whether I have ever set foot in Berzerkistan," Moody said, "But if I had, I can assure you that I would not have broken a single British law within its sovereign borders." "What is the worst thing that could happen if we completed the Stone Citadel without proper authorization?" Harry asked. "The end of the world," Moody said. Harry flinched. "What's the worst thing that is net 'likely' to happen if we build this hospital without proper authorization?" Harry asked, "Will we forfeit a tax exemption or something?" "You sound like a Dark Lord abusing his political power for the greater good," Moody said. "It's just a zoning law!" "The hospital will not be part of Hogwarts and will therefore be unprotected by its wards," Moody said. Britain had 1% of the planet's magical population. It had 1% of the planet's armies. Hogwarts was a fraction of that. If Harry Potter revealed his hospital to the world it could would catalyze an international crisis. When that day came, it would be to the Chief Warlock's advantage if the Stone Citadel was located inside the Hogwarts wards. Another three minutes and fifty-four seconds ticked by. Another human being died forever. At times of civilizational inadequacy—which was all the time—Harry Potter could empathize with Lord Voldemort's pleasure at murdering his way through the Ministry bureaucracy. There was a knock on the door. A dreamy first-year voice said "I'm looking for Harry Potter." "Harry James Potter-Evans-Verres is busy. He is trying to save and/or destroy the world and/or wizardkind," Harry said, "If you make an appointment then he might get back to you in a few epochs." "How about Tom Riddle?" the voice said, "Does he know what astrolabes do?" Luna was untrained in the Muggle arts. Muggle Studies Professor Burbage declared the astrolabe beyond her pay grade and referred Luna to Harry Potter. There was no "Harry Potter" on the Marauder's Map so Luna went to "Harry Potter's Office". Tom Riddle answered the door. "It's nice to meet you, Mister Riddle," Luna said. Tom Riddle ushered Luna into Harry Potter's office, shut the door and cast thirty security charms. "Call me Harry Potter," Tom Riddle said. "Call me You-Know-Who," Luna played along. It was a relief to pretend to have friends for a change. "Hss hsssss hsss," Tom Riddle said in Parseltongue. "Hiss hiss hiss," Luna said in not-Parseltongue. She held her index fingers down from her mouth like fangs and swayed her head like a snake. "You're not really You-Know-Who," Tom Riddle said. "You're not really Harry Potter," Luna showed him the map, "It says so right here." The 12-year-old boy banged his head against the wall. Just because you've won a battle doesn't mean you've behaved optimally. Optimal behavior is when you extract maximum utility from your circumstances. He shouldn't have been content to retrieve his belongings...

WikipediaHarry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)Harry Potter is an orphaned boy brought up by his unkind Muggle (non-magical) aunt and uncle. At the age of eleven, half-giant Rubeus Hagrid informs him that he is actually a wizard and that his parents were murdered by an evil wizard named Lord Voldemort. Voldemort also attempted to kill one-year-old Harry on the same night, but his killing curse mysteriously rebounded and reduced him to a weak and helpless form. Harry became extremely famous in the Wizarding World as a result. Harry begins his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and learns about magic. During the year, Harry and his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger become entangled in the mystery of the Sorcerer's Stone which is being kept within the school.Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)Harry, Ron, and Hermione return to Hogwarts for their second year, which proves to be more challenging than the last. The Chamber of Secrets has been opened, leaving students and ghosts petrified by an unleashed monster. Harry must face up to claims that he is the heir of Salazar Slytherin (founder of the Chamber), learn that he can speak Parseltongue, and also discover the properties of a mysterious diary, only to find himself trapped within the Chamber of Secrets itself.Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)Harry Potter's third year sees the boy wizard, along with his friends, attending Hogwarts School once again. Professor R. J. Lupin joins the staff as Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, while convicted murderer Sirius Black escapes from Azkaban Prison. The Ministry of Magic entrusts the Dementors of Azkaban to guard Hogwarts from Black. Harry learns more about his past and his connection with the escaped prisoner.Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)During Harry's fourth year, Hogwarts plays host to a legendary event: the Triwizard Tournament. Three European schools participate in the tournament, with three 'champions' representing each school in the deadly tasks. The Goblet of Fire chooses Fleur Delacour, Viktor Krum, and Cedric Diggory to compete against each other. However, curiously, Harry's name is also produced from the Goblet thus making him a fourth champion, which results in a terrifying encounter with a reborn Lord Voldemort.Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)Harry's fifth year begins with him being attacked by Dementors in Little Whinging. Later, he finds out that the Ministry of Magic is in denial of Lord Voldemort's return. Harry is also beset by disturbing and realistic nightmares, while Professor Umbridge, a representative of Minister for Magic Cornelius Fudge, is the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Harry becomes aware that Voldemort is after a prophecy which reveals: "neither can live while the other survives." The rebellion involving the students of Hogwarts, secret organization Order of the Phoenix, the Ministry of Magic, and the Death Eaters begins.Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009)In Harry's sixth year at Hogwarts, Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters are increasing their terror upon the Wizarding and Muggle worlds. Headmaster Albus Dumbledore persuades his old friend Horace Slughorn to return to Hogwarts as a professor as there is a vacancy to fill. There is a more important reason, however, for Slughorn's return. While in a Potions lesson, Harry takes possession of a strangely annotated school textbook, inscribed 'This is the property of the Half-Blood Prince'. Draco Malfoy struggles to carry out a deed presented to him by Voldemort. Meanwhile, Dumbledore and Harry secretly work together to discover the method on how to destroy the Dark Lord once and for all.Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 (2010)After unexpected events at the end of the previous year, Harry, Ron, and Hermione are entrusted with a quest to find and destroy Lord Voldemort's secret to immortality – the Horcruxes. It is supposed to be their final year at Hogwarts, but the collapse of the Ministry of Magic and Voldemort's rise to power prevents them from attending. The trio undergo a long journey with many obstacles in their path including Death Eaters, Snatchers, the mysterious Deathly Hallows, and Harry's connection with the Dark Lord's mind becoming ever stronger.Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011)After destroying one Horcrux and discovering the significance of the three Deathly Hallows, Harry, Ron and Hermione continue to seek the other Horcruxes in an attempt to destroy Voldemort, who has now obtained the powerful Elder Wand. The Dark Lord discovers Harry's hunt for Horcruxes and launches an attack on Hogwarts School, where the trio return for one last stand against the dark forces that threaten the Wizarding and Muggle worlds.~~~~~LinksHeadphonesNeil The AppSubscribeSupportTwitterWebsite Support the show and get early access to upcoming content!Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/headphonesneil-reviews. “Come… come to me… Let me rip you… Let me tear you… Let me kill you. I like eating stones. They yummy in my tummy.“- The Basilisk, from that one Harry Potter book. I hope you've brushed up on your Parseltongue because today we're talking about the Basilisk! Nah, just kidding you don't need to speak Parseltongue. That's a completely made up language that J.K Rowling barfed into existence. (That's how writers write, right? They just up-chuck words onto paper until someone begs them to stop?) The real Basilisk is an 8 legged lizard monster that looks like it'd be right at home in one of Dr. Henry Wu's wet dreams. This bad boy eats stones and doesn't even worry about breaking it's teeth. So you know he's a real tough customer. But will Kyle and Alex name him friend or fiend? Find out on this week's episode!
This week, Allie, Adam, and Arri all talk about Chapter 17, The Heir of Slytherin. Inside this episode, you’ll find a discussion on the rules of anagrams (does "I AM" really count?), why Harry didn't at least try to speak Parseltongue, and proper receptionist etiquette regarding the Chamber of Secrets. "Come... come to me... Let me rip you... Let me tear you... Let me kill you. I like eating stones. They yummy in my tummy."- The Basilisk, from that one Harry Potter book. Other things Don’t miss out on all the action of our main podcast. You can find all the adventure episodes of We Have Darkvision here. We’ve also started to upload our back catalogue of episodes and theme music over on youtube as well. Also, why not check out Kyle and Colin’s new play through of Divinity 2: Original Sin in their new series ‘Original Sinners‘.
Crooked Table Podcast - The world of film from a fresh angle
This episode, we return to Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for an in-depth chat about Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. In many ways, Year Two feels like the end of an era for the franchise. Director Chris Columbus left after this point, taking the warm and fuzzies largely with him. And the late Richard Harris makes his final appearance as Albus Dumbledore. Teri Sears joins the show to help us unlock Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. We'll address why the movie is perhaps too slavish to J.K. Rowling's novel, how it marks the series' first incremental steps into the dark, and which character is shockingly devoid of much-needed development. So brush up on your Parseltongue and tame that bloodthirsty beast if you can. Oh, and enjoy our in-depth discussion on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Next month, we're heading straight for Azkaban prison! SYNOPSIS The second installment of boy wizard Harry Potter's (Daniel Radcliffe) adventures at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, based on the novel by JK Rowling. A mysterious elf tells Harry to expect trouble during his second year at Hogwarts, but nothing can prepare him for trees that fight back, flying cars, spiders that talk and deadly warnings written in blood on the walls of the school. Turn to Page 182, The Dueling Club. Today’s lesson is called Misunderstood. The chapter begins with Harry being released from the hospital wing, his arm healed. He finds Ron and Hermione in Myrtle’s bathroom, brewing polyjuice potion. The news over Colin’s petrification has circulated the school, but Harry tells them about Dobby’s time in the hospital wing, too. The trio execute a distraction in Snape’s Potions class to steal ingredients they need to finish the potion. Students at Hogwarts, like Neville and Ginny, are stressed about their safety, and Professor Lockhart decides to start a duelling club. Professor Snape, suspicious of Harry as always, pairs Harry and Malfoy together to duel. Eventually, Malfoy summons a snake, who Harry convinces not to attack Justin Finch-Fletchley using Parseltongue. Everyone is suspicious of Harry after that, since they only heard him speaking to the snake, not what he said. Further, Slytherin was famously a Parselmouth, piling more evidence on Harry. Things only worsen, when Harry innocently comes upon a horrific scene with a petrified Nearly Headless Nick and Justin Finch-Fletchley, and students openly accuse Harry as the perpetrator. The chapter ends with Harry being led into Dumbledore’s office for the first time. Music: Happy Haunts by Aaron Kenny #MagicalTheory #HarryPotter #podcast #WizardPhD

On this episode of Grown Ope, muggles, Camille and Sarai, dive into the second installment of the Harry Potter Series. This is less an episode of a podcast, and more a teardown of a production.
The Christmas fun continues as the bald man and the little woman head to old Batty's house. To be fair, she was very persuasive and acting totally normal! This is one of Voldemort's weakest plans that should have never worked, but to Hermione's surprise, Harry's mistake was not failing to close his mind, but failing to learn what Parseltongue actually sounds like. This chapter is powerful stuff, and not even just for a house elf, sir. Please consider supporting us on Patreon! www.patreon.com/realweirdsisters.Spoiler warning! Hiss HIIIsSSssss hiSSSSS (That's Parseltongue for "welcome back"). This week your hosts sneak into The Restricted Section, catch the Snitch with a broken arm, get a big surprise during the first meeting of the new and completely violent and horrifying dueling club, and sing the theme song to Saved by the Bell (naturally). Things are getting serious, Amanda is struggling to keep her face neutral about house elf rights, and Kev is finally starting to understand why Potterheads everywhere snicker when they hear "no safer place than Hogwarts".Support the show (http://patreon.com/thefoxandthefoxhound)

Hey everybody! Here's a chat about the latest film to be directed by some guy and produced by Guillermo Del Toro. Kind of like Mama I guess? In fact Mama is a really good comparison for how this film feels. I wish I'd said that in the podcast/blog thing. Oh well. I can't be fucked re-recording it now. I do take the piss out of the film though. It's about a bunch of kids that read a book that's written in blood.. it'd be wrong not to make a joke in which the punchline is "AID's". I also say the word "periods" at one point too and the end of the word ended up sounding like I was hissing. I guess it's hard not to talk about that monthly cycle without bursting into Parseltongue. It it obvious that I really waffle in this section? Well here's some links and shit for you.. If you want to check out further blogs that I've written then you can visit them here... http://ademonsvoice.blogspot.com And most importantly, again, don't forget to follow me on twitter here... https://twitter.com/ADemonsVoice Of course some of you might not be on twitter in which case I've got Facebook for you... https://www.facebook.com/ademonsvoice/ Cheers!
We know this podcast is a little quiet, but it was that or have loads of bloody hissing, and I don’t know about you, I don’t speak Parseltongue. Anyway, the video will be the best way to enjoy this, so I’m told!
Miel of Punch Up The Jam joins to talk Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, largely through the form of elongated improv bits and serious shade. In this podcast, I discuss combining multiple hierarchies of abstraction, which itself is a process of abstraction. I offer imagistic representations to assist.
Some reflections for JJ Raoult following the ZS principal meeting in August 2017.
When I had dinner with Chris Wright, he shared his passion for sailing. There were quite a few nuggets from this which I'll eventually interweave with some other stuff for a longer form piece. But for now, I've created a teaser. You can ignore the comment at the end about "stay tuned for first episode of order and chaos." This was before I landed on the name Parseltongue. Having said that, see if you can detect where in the piece order turns to chaos ;-)
The Big 5 Aspect of Openness is where creativity resides. Highly creative people struggle to leverage their creativity early career, but it becomes vital as they work their way up the food chain. Another example of how to apply the lens of abstraction. In this instance to chunking down the goal of leading a "Good Life."
Introduction to the cognitive skill of moving between levels of abstraction using Google Earth and Google Maps as a metaphor.
A brief introduction on my intent with this podcast. It's partly a place to publish produced works and partly a place to think out loud.

Welcome, honorary Hogwarts students, to ?Parseltongue 101.? Parseltongue is, as you almost certainly already know, the ability to speak with snakes. Many powerful wizards, like Harry Potter and Voldemort, were well-known for their ability to speak Parseltongue. For natural parseltongues, it's possible to speak it without even realizing. However, since so much of the snake language sounds so similar to an outsider, it can be hard to pick it up if you're not naturally gifted. But contrary to many other magical educators, I myself believe that even No-Maj folks can learn to talk to snakes if they're willing to put in the work. Sorry, if there are any British wizards and witches in the audience, I meant Muggles. You probably knew that. Anyway, in this session, we'll be learning the basics of how to speak parseltongue. I'll be asking you some questions, and the correct answer to each question will contain at least one S?and to get into the parseltongue mindset, which is sort of the first step for non-native speakers, I encourage you all to REALLY lean on those Ss. (Featuring music by Landon Beall, Nheap, Mark Sparling, and Venere.)

Year One: Harry Potter is an orphaned boy brought up by his unfriendly aunt and uncle. During the year, Harry and his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger become entangled in the mystery of the Philosopher's Stone which is being kept within the school.Year Two: Harry, Ron, and Hermione return to Hogwarts for their second year, which proves to be more challenging than the last. The Chamber of Secrets has been opened, leaving students and ghosts petrified by an unleashed monster.
