Was steckt hinter dem Projekt?

Hospitals and health systems can play a major role in addressing our nation's healthcare disparities in our nation. In our latest episode – part of our hospitals and health equity series – we zero in on hospital rankings and how the metrics that are used can compel health systems to take much-needed action on health equity. “If hospitals were to focus more on health equity, they would be fulfilling both a moral responsibility as well as a legal responsibility,” says Tavia Binger, a health data analyst at U.S. News and World Report. “Nonprofit hospitals are actually required to spend portions of their revenue on community benefit activities – like providing care that is free or at a reduced cost for patients who can't afford to pay – in exchange for their tax exempt status.” In addition to the latest U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings, published on July 16, U.S. News has also introduced health equity measures and has released a list of hospitals excelling in health equity by “providing vulnerable populations with substantial access to high-quality care,” Binger says. Health Disparities podcast host Dr. Mary O'Connor speaks with Binger about how U.S. News and World Report is working to promote health equity. They also discuss how healthcare consumers can use hospital rankings to understand whether the hospitals in their communities are doing their part to provide care that is both high-quality and equitable. Since the Alec Baldwin Trial is about to begin, let's revisit this episode of Dr. Carole's Couch. Alec Baldwin deluded himself by pretending that he would never be tried because of his celebrity status, so he was shocked to discover that his trial is going forward. He wanted to blame it all on the armorer, who was already found guilty, but he's the one who pulled the trigger - despite pretending he didn't! Two recent headlines are stark reminders of why one should never play fast and loose with guns. On the movie set of the western Rust, actor Alec Baldwin picked up a prop gun, pulled the trigger and accidentally killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounded the film's director, Joel Souza. Baldwin had been told the gun was cold, meaning it had no ammunition, but it was loaded with a live round. There had already been many problems on the set and there is enough blame to go around.... Then, in the Kenosha, Wisconsin courtroom, where the jury in the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse was hearing closing arguments, the prosecutor, Thomas Binger, picked up a real gun - the one Kyle allegedly used - and swung it around the courtroom. If it weren't for the judge insisting upon a detective double checking that the gun wasn't loaded, Binger's 'Alec Baldwin moment' could have ended in death and injury, as well. Today's guest, Steve Wolf, is an expert on guns, movie sets and courtrooms! He will narrow in on who's to blame on the set of Rust and will critique how the gun was handled in court - and what should have happened in both of these scenarios.

I did move away after college to Australia and New Zealand to nanny. So I lived with the family that I nannied for, and then I came back, bought some cows, rest is history. Been doing this my whole life."Ashley Binger: "It's really cool to see just all the new technology that they are working on. Yeah. Specifically, what are some things that are really curious to other people, right? Most people, when you're in it every day, you think people would know, but people are curious about technology in agriculture."Ashley Binger: "So people can say, 'Holy crap, your life is changing.' We don't do the same things every day minus, doing our chores in the morning feeding the cows. Then it just depends on the season really."Ashley Binger: "Yeah, where their food comes from, and it comes from families like mine and everyone else that shares in the agriculture industry. That we are all real people with good hearts, good intentions, and we want the best for the animal and our families and for everyone who's going to be eating the beef."
