In the 1970s and into the ‘80s they were solid privateer touring car entrant/drivers. But as their careers behind the wheel began to wind down, both men would go on to become movers and shakers in the sport behind the scenes.Forbes tells us about his decision in 1990 to swap his Group A VN Commodore racer for the new and controversial all-wheel-drive Nissan GT-R ‘Godzilla' – which delivered Bob Forbes Racing victory in the Sandown 500 and third place at Bathurst in 1991. Then, after selling up his race team, Forbes got involved behind the scenes alongside Tony Cochrane in the creation of what we know today as Supercars Australia. In this episode Forbes gives a candid account of the sometimes-heated negotiations between the teams, the track owners and the TV networks that went on behind closed doors. After V8 Supercars was up and running under Cochrane's leadership, Forbes made a return to team ownership, this time with Ford, as the Blue Oval lured Holden star Craig Lowndes away from the General to race an AU Falcon V8 Supercar.Moore meanwhile tells of his ‘90s foray into 2.0-litre Super Touring racing, and the story of how he managed the almost-impossible in bringing the Williams Engineering ‘works' Renault team out to run at Bathurst in 1997.
Blue Oval is facing a union vote, and Beshear has broken his silence on the matter. FCPS says "it's not me it's you" on why they just now were able to get students back to school. Republicans put forward a bill to grant exemptions on the abortion ban.

In Podcast #333, John Davis and the MotorWeek crew are here to talk about some big family haulers! We'll start with what GMC has done to their popular Yukon, including a new AT4 Ultimate trim. Then it's over to the luxury side of the Blue Oval with a recently revealed new generation of Lincoln Navigator. We'll merge off the highway briefly for a Lightning Round on how the latest RAM 1500 doesn't have an oil dipstick and then a viewer has a question about why we haven't seen ventilated steering wheels! Finally, the Kia Carnival sees some updates for 2025 which include a new hybrid powertrain option.
Driving the Ford Mustang Mach-E electric SUV today – a interesting EV from the Blue Oval, I'm driving the mid-spec Mustang Mach-E Premium, sitting between the entry Select and the potent GT, the Mach-e Premium first arrived last year at $91,665, was dropped to $86,990 in late 2023 and again on May 31 to $79,990, around $88,700 drive-away. Still a rather hefty price considering most electric opposition is well south of this figure – as such just 388 Ford Mustang Mach-E's have been sold July year-to date. Having said that from my perspective the Mach- E Premium has some very rewarding features – a single motor rear wheel drive with 216kW/430Nm of torque, the Premium gaining a larger 91kWh nickel cobalt manganese battery providing an impressive 600Km range. The overall design of this electric Ford SUV appeals, roomy in both rows in a coupe style SUV body with good luggage space, an impressive dash, an impressive instrument cluster and a huge and an innovative 15.5-inch portrait style touchscreen that sets it apart from many similar touchscreens. Disappointingly, the premium price is the only factor stopping the Ford Mach-E from gaining a larger market share. Ford still losing 2 billion dollars a quarter in their electric car division. Drive details next. I'm David Berthon.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
What's it like to be whisked off to exotic Morocco and given the keys to Nissan's entire global fleet of off-roaders? Guest Chad Kirchner shares his story of scorpions, Titans, Terras, and Patrols bashing through the dunes, and also discusses the differences between the Nissan Navarra and the Frontier pickup that is sold in North America. In Podcast #331, John Davis and the MotorWeek crew are back from! We begin with the latest updates from the Blue Oval's flagship utility, the 2025 Explorer. Then we give an update on one of the latest members of our long term fleet, the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. Then we change lanes to our Lightning Round where we discuss potential legislation to combat speeding deaths. And then a viewer has a question about whether or not they should be worried when buying a used hybrid. We cross the finish line with Greg's recent time driving Porsche's revolutionary new hybridized 911.
This week, the Unnamed Automotive Podcast gets their hands on a unicorn, or so they think. The 2024 Ford Maverick is the topic du jour, but unlike past discussions of the small pickup truck, this one is equipped with the fuel-friendly hybrid powertrain. While this setup was hard to find in the past, this year the Blue Oval has changed its mind about what engines are standard and which isn't, so would you pay more for less power and more MPGs? And how good is this small truck once you step back from its compact crossover roots? Then the guys discuss the endless comedy of Fisker's bankrupcty, before talking about a cool road trip Benjamin took to a gaming hub in the US. Which brings up the wonderful world of driving video games that we know our hosts can get carried away in.
Today on the Daily News You Can Use, Ray and Zach discuss the latest earnings data from Ford. What is going on at the Blue Oval? Tune in to learn more!

The Ford Motor Company had trouble in the early 1980s. Itstrucks were selling well, but its line of cars was unpopular and had a terriblereputation. The company lost $3.3 billion from 1980 through 1982. As thelosses piled up, Ford's engineers were working feverishly to redesign theirline of mid-size cars. Ford turned out a redesigned Thunderbird and Tempo andmanaged a profitable year. And on this day in 1985, Ford introduced the Taurus, the product of years of engineering. The distinctively streamlined car becameenormously popular, lifting Ford to record profits in the late 1980s. Therounded "jellybean" shape of the Taurus had a strong influence on thedesigns of other automakers in the next few years.www.nodrivingloves.com#cars #car #collectorcars #oldcars #cartalk #electriccars #ev #hotrod #carhistory #automotivehistory #automobile #thisdayinautomotivehistory #thisdayinhistory #classiccars #onthisday #ithappenedtoday #december26 #ford #taurus #fordtaurus

Ford clearly has been busy and somehow while creating the new Mustang, built what is arguably their GT3 Mustang racecar for the street. Aimed squarely at the Europenas supercars and Porsche GT3s. And what they served up is more than a viable opponent... this is not your neighbor's 5.0. Alongside, the Mustang news we have exciting news out of Monterey Car Week, with hypercars dropping like new SUVs this week, each commanding millions of dollars. Lotus takes us back to our past and someone spends 2 million dollars... on what used to be a car. In December of 2001, Aussies across the continent were hit with earth shattering news – Holden Racing Team's golden boy, Craig Lowndes, was joining Ford's Blue Oval. Shockwaves rippled through the legions of loyal V8 Supercar racing fans – it was known that you were either team Holden or team Ford, and there was no switching sides. A rivalry deeper than the Hatfield and McCoys, and more bitter than the Red Sox and Yankees, was about to be put to the ultimate test. But how did this deep seated rivalry even begin? Is this the story of gladiators being forged in the crucible of ultimate battle or just two bastions of the same big corporate business propping up car sales with race wins? Has this famed automotive rivalry from down under come to a peaceful conclusion and broken generational racing curses? You asked for it -- and we listened. We're filming Past Gas again!
