The Life of Padma, or the Paümacariu, is a richly expressive Jain retelling in the Apabhramsha language of the famous Ramayana tale. It was written by the poet and scholar Svayambhudeva, who lived in south India around the beginning of the tenth century. Like the epic tradition on which it is based, The Life of Padma narrates Prince Rama's exile, his search for his wife Sita after her abduction by King Ravana of Lanka, and the restoration of his kingship. The second volume recounts Rama's exile with Sita and his brother Lakshmana. The three visit various cities--rather than ashrams, as in most versions; celebrate Lakshmana's marriages; and come upon a new city built in Rama's honor. In Dandaka Forest, they encounter sages who are masters of Jain doctrine. Then, the discovery of Sita's disappearance sets the stage for war with Ravana. Eva De Clercq's The Life of Padma (Harvard UP, 2023) is the first direct translation into English of the oldest extant Apabhramsha work, accompanied by a corrected text, in the Devanagari script, of Harivallabh C. In the spirit of clearly communicating what you're signing up for, this podcast episode is nearly three hours long, and among other things it contains a discussion of a paper by author Mary Shaw titled Myths & Mythconceptions which takes as an organizing principle a collection of myths that are widely believed by programmers, largely unacknowledged, which shape our views on the nature of programming as an activity and the needs of programmers as people and the sort of work that we do as a sort of work, and where by acknowledging these myths the three of us (Mary Shaw primarily, and by extension Jimmy and I, those three people, that's it, no other people appear on this podcast) are able to more vividly grip the image of programming with our mind's eye (or somesuch) and conceive of a different formulation for programming, and in addition to these myths this paper also incudes a number of excellent lists that I take great pleasure in reading, beyond which I should also note that the paper does a job of explaining itself and that hopefully you'll find I've done a similar job, that's the spirit, please enjoy. History of Sanatana goes back to thousands of years, yet we seem to be stuck with three thousand years of History! Evidence abounds around the world, indicating the presence of Sanatana Dharma and Vedic Practices. Remnants of Vedic practices are found in all world cultures. In this article, we shall examine the presence of Sanatana Dharma in the Middle East during ancient times. The Sumerian/ Assyrian culture were intricately connected to Tamil and Sanatana Dharma. A Tamil-Brahmi script inscribed on a potsherd, which was found at the Khor Rori area in Oman, has come to light now. The script reads “nantai kiran” and it can be dated to first century CE, that is, 1900 years before the present. As the facts mentioned in the Ramayana by Valmiki, stand the test of available resources, Astronomy dating,Carbon dating, literary evidences from both internal and external, etymology of the words , cultural practices being practiced throughout the world, I take Valimiki seriously because of description of landmarks around the world, including the Nazca Lines of Peru, Vaikanasa Theertha in Russia, now called Baikal and many more references.I have written on all these. Now One finds the name of Lord Rama, Dasaratha and Bharatha in Sumerian Kings List. And there are Rama remains throughout the world. Please check my pots on these. I have, sometime back published an article Rama's Empire Covered the world One nagging doubt I had. If Rama had conquered the world and established his Kingdom, whom did he defeat to gain these areas? And how come Rama's name is found in the Sumerian Kings list. There was another powerful group of Kings in India, south of the Vindhyas King Atlas (King Of Atlantis) and Prince Osiris (heir to the throne) desired to create secondary domains where they could re-establish the Lemurian Empire . This intention was thwarted by the actions of Osiris' younger brother, the Emperor Seth. As present ruler of the Libyan/Egyptian Empire (that covered all of Africa), Seth decided that with the fall of Atlantis his Empire (in league with the rebel Sons of Belial) was to be its last stronghold. He made it his goal to re-establish the Atlantean Empire with himself as its all-powerful, ‘divine right' emperor (of the world). ‘conflicting objectives resulted in deadly warfare between Osiris and his brother Seth. Leading Osiris's Egyptian armies was Osiris' eldest son Horus. After Osiris' unfortunate ‘death', Horus succeeded his father as king of the Libyan/Egyptian Empire. Given the fact that there had been atomic radiation in Mohenj- Daro, how can we account for it since Rama did not seem to have used it, nor any one in the Mahabharata in the area? There seems to me one logical answer to this. Lord Rama had conquered the whole of world, I had published the Map of Rama Empire. If Rama had annexed these area he had to have won over them. If so, whom did he defeat? I checked world History, Legends, and Folklore. I had my link in Atlantis. I published an article on Rama's War with Atlantis and another one, Rama Atlantis War Kavatam periplus Port Window of Lemuria As explained in these articles, there seems to have been Four major civilizations then. Rama's Empire, Atlantis Empire, Uighur Empire and Lemurian Empire. Of these Uighur was not very advanced and Lemuria which had been on the wane was trying to recoup. They were suppressed by the Atlantis people. In the Atlantis, Osiris' son Horus entered into an alliance with Rama to defeat Seth who was trying to become independent in the Sumerian valley. ‘ King Atlas (King Of Atlantis) and Prince Osiris (heir to the throne) desired to create secondary domains where they could re-establish the Lemurian Empire . The Atlantis army met with Rama's Army in Rishi City, now in Pakistam. ‘Atlantis Drops A-Bomb on India The Lemurian Fellowship (an esoteric group formed in the 1930's) lessons state: During the heyday of Atlantis and Rama, both the Ramayana and the Lemurian Fellowship agree that other advanced civilizations were also in existence. According to the Lemurian Fellowship the Osiris Civilization existed in what is today North Africa and the Mediterranean Basin, and the Uiger Empire ruled over what is today the Gobi Desert. Yet of all of the civilizations, Atlantis and Rama were supposedly the two most developed. These two cultures had developed advanced technology, which they shared between themselves and the rest of the world. It had been mainly developed in Atlantis and would seem like science fiction to us today, just as the Ramayana and the Mahabharata seem like science fiction. Not only did they have aircraft such as vimanas and valixi (as the Atlantean craft was called), they had weapons such as fireballs that could destroy a whole city…(etc.). According to the Lemurian Fellowship, as Atlantis and Rama reached the height of civilization, war broke out between them. The Atlanteans, a highly technical and war-like culture were bent on conquering the world. Subjugating the Rama Empire was an important step in their plan. An interesting episode in the Atlantean history as related by the Lemurian Fellowship involves the Atlanteans sending a well-equipped army to India inhttps://ramanisblog.in/2015/10/28/rama-used-atom-bomb-against-atlantis-mohenjo-daro/ --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/ramanispodcast/message

Ramayana is the story of Prince Rama of Ayodhya, his excellent wife Seetha Devi, princess of Mithila. Ramayana was composed by the wise sage Valmiki in 24,000 verses/slokas and 7 cantos. This magnum opus of Maharishi Valmiki is also considered to be the adikavya, the first poem in Sanskrit. It's packed with adventures and many lessons to live an honest life fulfilling one's Dharma, doing the right thing always despite hardships and ordeals.
“Carnatic Music is building a wide audience. Earlier, at concert venues, I would only run into people I knew already. Now, complete strangers greet me and mention my YouTube videos,” says Prince Rama Varma during Chennai Margazhi Music Season 2019.

*Heads up, this episode has a lot of not safe for work language, so headphones on! Taraka Larson is most well known for the band Prince Rama, a collaborative, decade-long project made up of herself and sister, Nimai. Her visual art practice, an extension of her music, has garnered her opportunities to show internationally, including exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of Art, Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art, and Brooklyn Museum. Since Nimai's departure from the band, Taraka has recently released Rage In Peace a solo Prince Rama album as a farewell EP. Foreground/Background is a conversation between working artists – pulling back the curtain on the real day-to-day efforts that go into making a living from our passions and the realities of dealing with the art word. In this hour long conversation we discuss: growing up in creative families, entrepreneurship, creating music, following your passions, the spirituality of creativity and more! This episode of Radio Amenti features a panel discussion from WITMA (Well-being in the Modern Age), where Jennifer Sodini hosted a conversation on The Imagination on October 19th, 2019 at Contra Studios in NYC. The audio from the panel was captured by Matt Xian of Timewheel Records and begins with a recap about the intention of the panel, closure on what WITMA was, and intentions for the future of 2020. Featured voices, hearts, and minds (from the left in the featured image)... + Taraka Larson: Not much can faze Taraka Larson – born on Beethoven and Philip K Dick's birthday, she grew up in ashrams; lived on black metal communes; worked for utopian architects; written manifestos; delivered lectures from pools of fake blood; conducted group exorcisms disguised as VHS workouts; designed a whole line of byzantine extreme sportswear; and toured the world extensively with her band, Prince Rama. The band has become much of a cult enigma over the years, riding the fine line between rock n roll and performance art and are perhaps the only band who have been able to simultaneously incite mosh pits and stage dive while paradoxically reaching #3 on the Billboard New Age charts. + Mitch Horowitz: A widely known voice of esoteric ideas, Mitch Horowitz is a writer-in-residence at the New York Public Library, lecturer-in-residence at the Philosophical Research Society in Los Angeles, and the PEN Award-winning author of books including Occult America; One Simple Idea: How Positive Thinking Reshaped Modern Life; and The Miracle Club: How Thoughts Become Reality. Mitch has written on everything from the war on witches to the secret life of Ronald Reagan for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Salon, Time.com, and Politico. + Nick Onken: Nick Onken is a world renowned photographer, host of NIONradio podcast, and creative entrepreneur devoted to inspiring the world to create their moments. Nick has photographed personalities such as Justin Bieber, Tom Hanks, and Jessica Alba. He’s been featured in Fast Company, Huffington Post, and MTV. Nick has traveled to over 60 countries and 7 continents and is the author of the travel photography book, PhotoTrekking. He has photographed global campaigns for international brands such as Nike, Coca Cola and Adidas and his work has been published in magazines such as Conde Nast Traveler, Cosmopolitan, and Marie Claire. + Melinda Lee Holm: Melinda Lee Holm is a Tarot Priestess specializing in translating Divine wisdom into actionable guidance. Building on over 25 years of study and practice, she uses her fluency in the language of Tarot coupled with her knowledge of crystals, plants, candle magick and metaphysical principles to identify and open areas of greatest potential for herself and her clients. Having overcome the effects of a youth marked by chaos, poverty, and abuse, she now seeks to inspire and foster growth and expansion in the lives of others using the same tools that had such a profound impact on her own life.

On today's very special episode of Songmess we are joined by an angelic goth princess called Mathilde Fernandez. We sat down with the lovely French chanteuse after her riveting performance at Festival NRMAL to get into a bit of her past in music and visual arts, her life in Belgium (even though she mostly performs in France) and an incredible playlist of goth classics. Mathilde's vocal style is operatic, while the production on her tracks takes a distinctly industrial dance direction. This is the first time Mathilde performs in the Americas, and even though we had a few episodes scheduled before hers, we're dropping this as an opportunity to promote upcoming shows in Los Angeles and Mexico City. Keep an eye on her social media for scheduling updates! Featured Artists: Mathilde Fernandez, Nina Hagen, Rammstein, Klaus Nomi, Prince Rama. Mike Posner is a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter whose megahit "I Took a Pill in Ibiza" has been streamed more than a billion times; last week, he released a book of poetry titled Teardrops and Balloons. Taraka Larson fronts the beloved psych-pop group Prince Rama, and is a pop music theorist who has lectured on the subject at New York University and Melbourne College in Australia. We thought it would make for a great conversation to pair this pop scholar with one of pop’s biggest current writers. And it was! In a talk that was part theory discussion, part psychoanalysis, the two discuss where truth is to be found in the inherent artifice of art, the temptation to glorify one’s suffering in one's work, how you know when you’ve created good art (and when you haven’t), Prince Rama appearing in James Franco’s new Lifetime film, and much more. Check it out. On our first episode of the second season of MUNCHIES: The Podcast, we’re pulling you out of the glut of sleepy winter, and there’s only way to do that: energy drinks. In 2005, fewer than 2,000 trips to the emergency room involved energy drinks. By 2011, that number was over 20,000. Brooklyn-based band Prince Rama’s just released their energy drink-inspired album, “XTREME NOW,” so we figured they’d be the perfect guides into this underworld. We wanted to uncover how energy drinks are inspiring pop culture and their music alike, and learn about the history of these caffeine-high beverages from expert bartender, Don Lee, to get to the bottom of what’s in your can.attacks. After an unplanned hiatus, the show is back with a bang. This week I am delighted to welcome Nick Srnicek to the show. Nick, and his co-author Alex Williams, has recently released a new book with Verso called: “Inventing the Future: Postcapitalism and a World Without Work’. I bought this book as a christmas present for myself, and it didn’t disappoint - it’s just the book I have been waiting for someone to write! Indeed, I’m kinda annoyed with Nick and Alex, because it’s the book I really wanted to write! In the interview we cover the first half of the book, which takes a critical look at the functioning of the political left today, and a deep look at the history, strategy and tactics of the neoliberals as a counterpoint. I hope to have Alex back on the show in the near future to discuss the second half of the book, which is much less critique and more ‘what is to be done’. Us leftie’s need to get beyond critique, and that includes this show. You can find Nick and Alex’s book here: http://www.versobooks.com/books/1989-inventing-the-future You can also find their blog here: https://syntheticedifice.wordpress.com/ The music on this episode was: ‘The Order of the Pharaonic Jesters’ by Sun Ra and his Arkestra ‘USA iii: rail’ by Dan Deacon ‘Crying In The Chapel’ by Charles Bradley ‘Now Is The Time Of Emotion’ by Prince Rama

This Second introductory pod cast before we begin to tell the tale of the Thai Ramakien, denotes the first list of some the main protagonists, split into two factions. These two factions are the two different sides to war against each other, which is the issue that is used to maintain the continuance of the story throughout the whole epic myth. The reason they were against each other, is because one of the sides, namely, the Yaksa (ยักษ์), who serve, under the command of the Demon giant Totsagan (Ravana), make the mistake, of kidnapping the newlywed princess and wife of Prince Rama are as we call him in the Thai Ramakien; "Pra Ram". This is of course, the lady Sita, who we call "Nang Sida" in Thai. A whole quest begins in order to recapture the princess, and return her to her husband. Around this central theme, the story unfolds into a multitude of different Sub chanters, which are worthy of the title of epic myths, in their own right. This mini pod cast gives a short list and a very short explanation of each of the major role players and protagonists who will be seen to reappear often during the story.

The Ramayana, the epic story of Prince Rama, recounts his trials as he tries to rescue his wife, Sita. This statue depicts the antagonist, Ravana (Balinese: Rawana), on his mount, the bird-like Wilmana (Balinese: Vimana). The demon king kidnaps Sita, taking her to his island kingdom of Langka. Uniquely, in the Indonesian version of this Hindu story Ravana rides his mount instead of a chariot when he kidnaps Sita.
