And that's Number Five: You Already Possess What You Desire Most. And of course Dorothy's companions are classic examples of that in the most wonderful way. But to take that in, what does that really mean for me? What does that mean for you? It's really profound. We're rushing around looking outside ourselves for the things that we think matter most for money, for success, For me it might be courage. I tend to suffer from anxiety. And so courage. I would never think of myself as a courageous person but this Emerald is telling me I am a courageous person and that courage, I'm not going to find it elsewhere." And what a valuable place to start that is for all of us to listen to that longing. What is it we long for? But the second one is See the Situation As If For the First Time. Ep. 61 — He became a celebrated anti-landmine crusader after a horrific landmine accident but then began questioning his superhero narrative / Jerry White, Nobel Peace Laureate / Author / Professor of Practice, University of Virginia. In 1984, Jerry White went to Israel for his junior year, “study abroad” program at Hebrew University. On their spring break that April, White, and his two American roommates went out hiking in the Golan Heights in northern Israel, tracing the footsteps of Biblical prophets. They got off the beaten path to set up camp. One morning, White walked ahead of his friends and stepped on a landmine. He was just 20 years old. The tragedy of losing his right leg to a landmine transformed White into a student of resilience and survivorship and an advocate for landmine victims. He became a charismatic activist, who worked closely with Princess Diana, Queen Noor, Paul McCartney, and others to fight for a global ban on anti-personnel mines. White's high-impact campaigns in the wake of his landmine injury which cost him his right leg resulted in three major treaties, The Landmine Ban Treaty, the U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and the Cluster Munitions Ban.. In 1997, he shared the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to the International Campaign to Ban Landmines. White also served as U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State under President Barack Obama and Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, looking at data-driven outcomes in conflict negotiations. And he became a Senior Ashoka Fellow. But over time, White began to question his landmine survivor hero-narrative and dreamed of retiring his “landmine cape” as he likes to call it. His soul-searching on how that accident changed his relationship with nature and why that landmine came to be on that Israeli hill in the first place, has resulted in a prolific body of thinking, speaking, and writing. White has a new book out this November, called Religicide: Confronting the Roots of Anti-Religious Violence. The book is now available for pre-order on Amazon. White also wrote a 2004 book on resilience, titled, “I Will Not Be Broken.” Today, White is an award-winning teacher, activist, and leader. He currently serves as a Professor of Practice in Religion and Political Science at the University of Virginia and teaches the popular course: Religion, Violence, and Strategy: How to Stop Killing in the Name of God. My conversation with Jerry White about what happens when you dare to question your own narrative and when you lose touch with the earth was a profound experience and I am so glad to share it with you today.

Ever since I saw a picture in Queen Noor's book "A Leap of Faith - Memoirs of an unexpected life", with her and the late Kind Hussain I, sitting on a motorcycle with Wadi Rum in the background, I have been dreaming of going there. Against all Covid19 restrictions, rules and regulations, my best friends and I spent 4 wonderful days in this beautiful country and tried everything from Kohl eyeliner to camel riding, stargazing in the desert and floating on the dense water of the Dead Sea. My dream finally came true and I got a lot more than I had bargained for. Walking through world famous Petra which is famous for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system, Petra is also called the "Red Rose City" because of the colour of the stone from which it is carved. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. Then onto Wadi Rum where we enjoyed a bouncy 4×4 jeep drive over sand dunes and climbed up huge rock formations to view the sunset and camping out under the stars in a Martian landscape, well, we "glamped" and stayed at the UFO Luxotel. Yes, Wadi Rum is worth visiting. It is basically a giant sandpit to play in and observe the beauty! Ending the short trip with an overnight at the Moevenpick Hotel and Resort on the Dead sea, covering ourselves with mud and floating on the water was just another highlight.
