We had the pleasure of interviewing SAUL over Zoom video!Saul issue a call for connection in their music. The Iowa quartet—brothers Blake Bedsaul [lead vocals] and Zach Bedsaul [lead guitar, backup vocals], William McIlravy [bass, backup vocals], and Myles Clayborne [drums]—continue to bring audiences together with a one-two punch of precise and pummeling metallic grooves and towering magnetic melodies. Amassing tens of millions of streams and earning acclaim from Revolver, Guitar World, Loudwire, and many more, the group fortify an unbreakable bond with listeners on their second full-length offering, THIS IS IT…THE END OF EVERYTHING [Spinefarm].Saul emerged out of the Midwest in 2017 and tirelessly bulldozed a path to the forefront of modern rock. They notably performed alongside everyone from Motionless In White, Atreyu, August Burns Red, Crown The Empire, Bush, and 10 Years to HELLYEAH and Nonpoint in addition to gracing the stages of festivals, including Rebel Rock, Rock Fest, Rock USA, Inkcarceration, and Blue Ridge Rock Fest with Rob Zombie, Mudvayne, and Slipknot. The group independently landed a bona fide hit in the form of “Brother”—an homage to the co-founders' late brother Caleb. It marked their first #1 on Sirius/XM Octane in addition to gathering over 9 million Spotify streams and paving the way for their 2020 full-length debut, Rise As Equals. Co-written with David Draiman of Disturbed, “King Of Misery” reeled in 3.7 million Spotify streams, while “Trial By Fire” also surpassed 3 million Spotify streams. Of the former, American Songwriter praised“‘King of Misery' wasted no time jumping into the heavy mainstream riffs that Saul set out to wrangle,” and Outburn hailed its “futuristic and cinematic video.”Expanding the sonic palette, the guys collaborated with producer Kile Odell [Motionless In White, Nita Strauss] this time around. They initially teased this chapter with “JACK & JILL,” which tempers a hypnotic harmony with a heavy groove. On its heels, they unleashed the single “A MILLION MILES.” Co-written with Johnny Andrews [Three Days Grace, Starset, Theory of a Deadman], a seesawing riff and electrifying melody give way to a chant-able chorus laced with raw emotion befitting of the central theme.Hummable keys set the tone for “RUNAWAY,” dissolving into a harmonic riff. The breathy verses break like a wave on a refrain tailor-made for a live singalong, “Treat me like a runaway, because I'm vanishing. I don't think I'll be missed.”An ominous sample snaps into a pummeling chug on the opener “TOOTH & NAIL.” Clean vocals snake through the verses towards a warning, “There's no escape.”Then, there's “BETTER AS A MEMORY.” It swings between schizophrenic extremes highlighted by unpredictable instrumental dynamics and a heart-wrenching vocal performance, “Deep down you know, I'd be better as a memory.”In the end, Saul create the soundtrack for breaking free.We want to hear from you! Together with American Songwriter, we had the pleasure of interviewing Zach Allard and Antonio Metcalf of Discrepancies over Zoom video!Discrepancies is a Rap/Rock band out of St. Louis who have formed an undeniably powerful and innovative sound. Comprised of Garrett Weakley (Bass), Addison Bracher (Guitar/vocals), Zach Allard (Drums), and Antonio Metcalf (Vocals) have formed a unique take on Rap Rock incorporating heavy riffs, soaring choruses, and breakdowns with intense lyricism and hip hop elements. In January 2018, Discrepancies signed to InVogue Records. They released their debut album “The Awakening” in March of 2018 and had over a million streams in the first week. "The Awakening" landed on Billboard charts peaking at #32 Alt New Artist and #108 Top New Artist. The band set out on multiple short-run tours throughout the year with bands such as Ded, Kottonmouth Kings, Memphis May Fire, and even the Final Vans Warped Tour. The band played the final Vans Warped Tour in the summer of 2018. They joined the lineup for Rock USA the following year as well as continued their support for the album. In January of 2020, the band released the first single from their 2nd LP. The single, Control, pushed over 500k views and streams before the album release and continues to grow. Concerts at this point seem to be extinct for the year 2020. With every major tour getting canceled or being postponed we thought it would be a good idea to talk to a concert promoter. Ryan isn't just any concert promoter though. He owns National Event Promotions, the company Kaytie and I work hand and hand with on many of the major shows around our home area in Wisconsin. He also books a few different venues around the midwest and has a major hand in booking the 2nd stage for the festival Rock USA.

You may not know the name Dave Jackson off the top of your head, but you have definitely seen his photographs. He's worked with a ton of Eleven Seven Record's artists like Five Finger Death Punch, Steel Panther and Bad Wolves. He's also the lead photographer at the festival we host every year Rock USA. Throwing it back to RUSA this past year, BallZach sat down with the band Discrepancies.
Kaytie and I caught up with Disturbed guitarist Dan Donegan backstage before their headlining performance in what had turned into a giant mud bath with 30,000 friends at Rock USA. Specifically we wanted to talk about the work they have been doing with mental health and the song "A Reason To Fight."

There are few conversations where I'm talking and my head is thinking somewhere else. I was fan boying the whole time. Live in front of an audience at Rock USA this turned out to be my favorite conversation of the whole weekend. The incredible lead singer of Clutch, Neil Fallon. Ps...the other person in the picture is friend and metal show host Pete Burns
Lead singer Mike Protich and guitarist Dave McGarry of the band Red Sun Rising joined me in front of some fans live at Rock USA, and just in time for them to see my phone be rescued from the backstage bathroom! Fun times with good friends on the music festival circuit.
Kaytie and I caught up with the always amazing Zoltan Bathory of Five Finger Death Punch backstage at Rock USA. We talked about his hair, the new energy in the band, Zoltan's support of our police and first responders, Ivan's sobriety and a ton more in a very laid back but inspiring conversation with the Five Finger Death Punch guitarist.
Kaytie backstage at Rock USA 2019 with Breaking Benjamin lead singer Ben Burnley. Live shows, acoustic records, special guests and Ben wants to be a record producer? All of this is covered.

Ok so thanks to a random Twitter conversation (you can follow us @cuttermedia or @ktrgrocks) Kaytie and I had to discuss farting and pooping, but the real basis of this conversation is about the music industry as a whole. Thanks to an interview that Revolver Magazine did with Rob Zombie. That interview can be found at revolvermag.com.

Kaytie and I are hosting another Rock USA at Ford Festival Park in Oshkosh, WI. This one is special because we get to have conversations with some of our favorite bands and musicians in front of an audience at a giant rock festival. Even if that means sometimes the audio gets a little crappy. On day one we taked to DJ Ashba, Halestorm, Elias from Nonpoint, Matt from Pop Evil, Chris Jericho, Bad Omens and Matt & Chris from Like a Storm. Some of my favorite conversations in rock has been with Corey Taylor. This one was no different. Backstage at the festival Rock USA in Oshkosh, WI Corey and I once again have a fun light hearted (mostly) conversation. From the new Stone Sour album 'Hydrograd' to his new book 'America 51' and more enjoy a backstage talk with Corey Taylor.

I survived 3 days of RockUSA….barely. What a fantastic time I had watching all the bands, taking a gazillion selfies and self medicating to help the aches in my neck from banging my head so hard! This episode is a combination of the 3 mini episodes I recorded onsite. I talk about which bands engaged the women in the crowds, which band was a dick, a Rockfest (in Cadot, WI) snafu and Rob Zombie's response to it, my overall thoughts about the event itself and why you should attend.
