Welcome to the Green Rush, a KCSA Strategic Communications Production, a weekly conversation at the intersection of cannabis, psychedelics, the capital markets and culture. This week Anne Donohoe and Nick Opich talk to Eric Offenberger, CEO of Vext Science (CSE:VEXT; OTCQX:VEXTF). Eric joins us this week to discuss the company's operations and growth since his last time on the pod in February 2023, specifically the Arizona cannabis market and how Vext is navigating the unique challenges and leading the local market in retail traffic and sales. In this episode, Eric also shares insights about Ohio's road to adult-use legalization, Vext's plans for growth in the state, and what he predicts for the local market over the next year. This week's show begins by talking about how Jesse is seeing increased interest in companies wanting to tell their stories ahead of a potential increase in the investor base. This is complemented by observations that the cannabis capex cycle may be improving. On the state level, new Illinois data shows the state had a strong year, which is contrasted against Tilray's earnings report and the ongoing challenges in Canada. The conversation transitions into talking about the trend of equitizing debt and recent deals done by 4Front and Vext. The episode concludes by discussing the HHS saying they will release an unredacted version of its Schedule III recommendation and what this may mean for the timing of the DEA announcement.
BAD WOLVES and GOD FORBID guitarist Doc Coyle joins us again on the latest edition of The Loaded Radio Podcast This week, we have an exclusive interview with BAD WOLVES' guitarist, Doc Coyle. BAD WOLVES has returned with their fourth studio album, "Die About It," their second to feature their second vocalist, Daniel "DL" Laskiewicz, formerly of THE ACACIA STRAIN. DL joined the band in 2021 after a tumultuous split with the original lead vocalist, Tommy Vext. Although the band's lineup has evolved since their inception and their breakthrough cover of THE CRANBERRIES' "Zombie," Laskiewicz's robust, powerful vocals have seamlessly filled the void left by Vext, which manages to preserve the band's signature sound so well. As for Doc Coyle's other project, GOD FORBID, the New Jersey-based melodic thrash-metal band reunited for a momentous performance at last year's Blue Ridge Rock Festival on September 10, 2022 at the Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia. This marked GOD FORBID's first live appearance in over nine years. Since then, the band has made occasional appearances at events like LAMB OF GOD's "Headbangers Boat". In addition to his work with BAD WOLVES and GOD FORBID, Doc Coyle has been on the road recently with the horror-themed metalcore act ICE NINE KILLS, filling in for guitarist Dan Sugarman due to medical reasons, which has kept the musician exceptionally busy. And, let's not forget about his other musical venture, THE WEDDING BAND, which boasts notable members Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo from the legendary band METALLICA. In the podcast, Doc discusses the new BAD WOLVES album "Die About It", what's happening with GOD FORBID, touring with METALLICA and much, much more.
Daniel 'DL' Laskiewicz is a heavy metal vocalist for heavy metal band Bad Wolves. DL started out as the guitarist for metalcore band Acacia Strain, before replacing Tommy Vext in Bad Wolves in 2021. Bad Wolves scored a massive hit with their cover of The Cranberries 'Zombie'. However, the relationship with previous singer Vext turned sour over the next few years and led to an ugly departure in 2021. 'Die About It' (2023) is the first album that has DL's full contributions as a bandmember, and it in part deals with the negativity surrounding the band over the past few years. We spoke about a fresh start for the band, dealing with haters, his impact on the sound of the band, being authentic, live shows and more! Tommy Vext, is an American heavy metal singer and songwriter known as the former lead vocalist of Bad Wolves, Divine Heresy, and Westfield Massacre. As a solo act, he goes by The Lone Wolf. Vext began his music career in Brooklyn, New York as a teenager singing in local hardcore bands and engaging in freestyle rap battles with the neighborhood's preeminent hopefuls. Being too young, Vext had to sneak into clubs even for his own shows. In 1996, he formed the band Maniacal Disciple with friends Jim Donovan, Steve Perlmutter, and Mike Kontaras, eventually changing their name to "Vext" (a word he found in Wu-Tang Clan's lyrics), which eventually became his nickname after he started to be known as "Tommy Vext" in the New York hardcore scene. After his exit from Bad Wolves, Vext started a GoFundMe campaign for a solo record of original music. He also started uploading a series of cover songs he recorded in 2020 onto his YouTube account, as well as announcing tour dates for a "Fuck Cancel Culture Tour" in April 2021. His GoFundMe campaign raised over $175,000 before Vextstated on March 15, 2021 that he would not be releasing it due to being "financially bullied into submission.” In this episode, Brad and Tommy talk about everything and break down cancel culture as well as what has happened over the last three years in America. Tommy Vext formerly of the band Bad Wolves, Divine Heresy, and Westfield Massacre will join George in an unfiltered conversation about the music industry, cancel culture, world affairs, his new project The Lone Wolf and more! subscribe - www.meetmeforcoffee.co ______________________________________________________ Tommy Vext/ The Lone Wolf have released a brand new single titled "Trust the Science" featuring Billboard topping Hip-Hop artist and TikTok star, Topher to all major platforms. "'Trust the Science' is for all intensive purposes a protest anthem. It's a reflection of the damage that happens when people follow blind leaders for solutions that end up causing more harm than good. The song is also a homage to hospital workers and first responders who were unconventionally fired from their jobs for not participating in a mass medical experiment. We see you and we honor your integrity and sacrifice," says Vext. Tommy Vext is a rock singer and songwriter best known for being the lead singer of Bad Wolves, Snot and a short stint as the fill in lead singer for Five Finger Death Punch. Vext's passion for music came early. He began his career in Brooklyn, New York, as a teen making his rounds in the local hardcore scene. He created a name for himself by performing at famed venues like CBGB and many others. Over the years, Vext went on to create music and front many bands but his biggest success came when he founded and created Bad Wolves. With ten world tours, hundreds of millions of streams and most notably six number one hits, Vext's stage presence and powerful voice had solidified his place in the rock world for good, creating a loyal and rabid fan base. Though Bad Wolves first studio album Disobey was released in May of 2017, it wasn't until May of 2018 when they found record breaking and chart topping success with their breakthrough cover of the Cranberries single "Zombie". This single topped the Billboard mainstream rock charts for weeks and charted in many other territories globally. One of the most viewed music videos on the internet, "Zombie" has been watched upwards of 400 million times. Before her passing, TMZ obtained audio of the original singer Delores O'Riordan offering to sing on the cover. Considered a love letter by many the video views continue to grow. In January of 2021 Vext was pushed out of the band he created over differences of opinions regarding his social and political ideologies. Not falling victim to cancel culture, Vext continued to create music, tour and use his voice to do things the way he wants, when he wants. Known as one of the most prolific and provocative men in rock music, Tommy Vext is just getting started. credit: O'Donnell Media Group

Scott Fitzgerald At Home in Mitford by Jan KaronS Ulysses by Alfred, Lord Tennyson It little profits that an idle king, By this still hearth, among these barren crags, Match'd with an aged wife, I mete and dole Unequal laws unto a savage race, That hoard, and sleep, and feed, and know not me. I cannot rest from travel: I will drink Life to the lees: All times I have enjoy'd Greatly, have suffer'd greatly, both with those That loved me, and alone, on shore, and when Thro' scudding drifts the rainy Hyades Vext the dim sea: I am become a name; For always roaming with a hungry heart Much have I seen and known; cities of men And manners, climates, councils, governments, Myself not least, but honour'd of them all; And drunk delight of battle with my peers, Far on the ringing plains of windy Troy. I am a part of all that I have met; Yet all experience is an arch wherethro' Gleams that untravell'd world whose margin fades For ever and forever when I move. How dull it is to pause, to make an end, To rust unburnish'd, not to shine in use! As tho' to breathe were life! Life piled on life Were all too little, and of one to me Little remains: but every hour is saved From that eternal silence, something more, A bringer of new things; and vile it were For some three suns to store and hoard myself, And this gray spirit yearning in desire To follow knowledge like a sinking star, Beyond the utmost bound of human thought. This is my son, mine own Telemachus, To whom I leave the sceptre and the isle,— Well-loved of me, discerning to fulfil This labour, by slow prudence to make mild A rugged people, and thro' soft degrees Subdue them to the useful and the good. Most blameless is he, centred in the sphere Of common duties, decent not to fail In offices of tenderness, and pay Meet adoration to my household gods, When I am gone. He works his work, I mine. There lies the port; the vessel puffs her sail: There gloom the dark, broad seas. My mariners, Souls that have toil'd, and wrought, and thought with me— That ever with a frolic welcome took The thunder and the sunshine, and opposed Free hearts, free foreheads—you and I are old; Old age hath yet his honour and his toil; Death closes all: but something ere the end, Some work of noble note, may yet be done, Not unbecoming men that strove with Gods. The lights begin to twinkle from the rocks: The long day wanes: the slow moon climbs: the deep Moans round with many voices. Come, my friends, 'T is not too late to seek a newer world. Push off, and sitting well in order smite The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths Of all the western stars, until I die. It may be that the gulfs will wash us down: It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles, And see the great Achilles, whom we knew. Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho' We are not now that strength which in old days Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are; One equal temper of heroic hearts, Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield. Last night at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena, Los Angeles outfit Bad Wolves were the support of choice when Canadian hard rock heroes Nickelback came to town. Ahead of Bad Wolves’ killer performance, vocalist Tommy Vext sat down backstage with HEAVY to discuss their amazing album, Disobey, their wonderful rendition of The Cranberries’ seminal classic ‘Zombies’, and the bittersweet success they’ve enjoyed from that song after the passing of The Cranberries vocalist Dolores O'Riordan. But does Vext worry people will think Bad Wolves are a one-trick pony? “The proof is in the shows,” said Vext. “We hear the crowd singing the words and we’re like, oh, okay, we connected.“I think ‘Zombies’ success is very important for rock music as a whole because it’s proving to the mainstream that people still want to hear guitars.”Bad Wolves have mastered the art of embracing historical rock music and fusing it with their own magical, often volatile and expressive, heavy metal nuances. It’s the reception to their boisterous beats and enigmatic song writing that means fans the world over have reacted in the same, steady way. “There are certain shows that stick out in certain places,” said Vext. “We played in Warsaw [Poland] and people were crying and passing out in the front row!“You can hear it, some of these shows, as soon as we come on, we’re the opening band, but the screaming starts as soon as it gets dark – I wonder [to myself] ‘Is this what Korn felt like when they opened up for Ozzy [Osbourne]?’”When Nickelback last toured Australia they had the amazing Monster Truck in tow as supports. Monster Truck have since gone on to do amazing things but Vext says Bad Wolves don’t necessarily need or want that same kind of legs up, instead, Bad Wolves are just along to enjoy the ride. “These dudes crush it!” said Vext. “We watched them the other night and it’s epic!“It’s very exciting and we’re grateful to be invited!
"It's a very heavy record and has a song for everybody I guess," proclaimed frontman for Bad Wolves, Tommy Vext, ahead of their eagerly anticipated debut album, Disobey on May 11. "I think we really individually and collectively wanted to go into this record and recording process to make something that was greater than the sum of all of its parts. We were really influenced by bands like Faith No More and System of a Down and so we took a lot of risks. Some of the songs are super, super heavy and some of the songs are very progressive and some of them are just straight up rock songs. We obviously did a cover of The Cranberries song 'Zombie', which everyone is really responding well to. We have a ballad on the record and we have everything from rock to death metal wrapped up into one band with one sound so that's gonna be interesting. With members that have played in bands such as Divine Heresy, God Forbid, Devildriver, Bury Your Dead, In This Moment, Scar the Martyr, Vimic and Snot, Bad Wolves is the epitome of the often bandied around term supergroup, not that Vext embraces the title warmly."I don't really... what is a supergroup? Do you put Audioslave in the category and someone like Giraffes on Orchestra?" he questioned. Predominantly supergroups aren't good bands. I think Velvet Revolver is another but I think that the difference is supergroups are bands where everybody in the band comes from massive commercial success whereas we're pretty straight up underground heavy metal artists who have had success in their career, obviously, but never like this."Tune in to the audio to hear Vext discuss the bands trajectory over the last twelve months, in-depth take on the 'Zombie' cover and how the band went about reworking the tune, the difficulties faced by newer bands in the modern market - including one such as Bad Wolves and get to meet each band member and what they bring to the table. Also, keep an ear out for Bad Wolves debut album, Disobey, out May 11.Kris Peters
