Send us a Text Message. The band Rehab originated in Warner Robins, GA, in the 1970s, with Danny Boone Alexander's musical upbringing playing a pivotal role. Influenced by the music his family played, including Johnny Paycheck's “Take This Job and Shove It,” and memorable experiences like listening to “Sky Rockets in Flight” at the Crazy 8 Race Track during the Bicentennial, Danny's passion for music was evident from a young age. Initially drawn to rock and southern rock, his musical tastes broadened with the emergence of the Beastie Boys, Run DMC, and NWA, cementing his love for hip hop. Danny's first rap performance was at 15 during a high school pep rally, igniting his pursuit of a music career. In his late teens, Danny began working professionally with his friend Denny “Steaknife” Campbell under the name "Prime Suspect." The duo's collaboration led to the formation of Rehab after meeting Jason Brooks. Despite Steaknife's legal troubles, Danny and Jason signed with Epic Records, releasing “Southern Discomfort” in 2000. The album featured contributions from Goodie Mob's Cee-Lo and Big Gipp, as well as Cody Chesnutt, selling over 140,000 copies and reaching the top 15 of the Modern Rock charts with “It Don't Matter.” They toured nationally, sharing stages with Linkin Park and the Kottonmouth Kings during the Vans Warped Tour.Following creative differences, Danny and Brooks parted ways, and Rehab was revitalized in 2005. The band recorded “Graffiti the World” with notable contributors like Bonecrusher, Phil Tan, and Billy Hume. The album was initially released independently until Danny signed with Universal Records in 2008. A collaboration with Hank Williams Jr. on “Sittin' at a Bar” garnered a CMT nomination for Wide-Open Country Video of the Year in 2009. Rolling Stone featured Rehab's renamed single, “The Bartender Song,” on its "Hot List." Together with American Songwriter, we had the pleasure of interviewing Zach Allard and Antonio Metcalf of Discrepancies over Zoom video!Discrepancies is a Rap/Rock band out of St. Louis who have formed an undeniably powerful and innovative sound. Comprised of Garrett Weakley (Bass), Addison Bracher (Guitar/vocals), Zach Allard (Drums), and Antonio Metcalf (Vocals) have formed a unique take on Rap Rock incorporating heavy riffs, soaring choruses, and breakdowns with intense lyricism and hip hop elements. In January 2018, Discrepancies signed to InVogue Records. They released their debut album “The Awakening” in March of 2018 and had over a million streams in the first week. "The Awakening" landed on Billboard charts peaking at #32 Alt New Artist and #108 Top New Artist. The band set out on multiple short-run tours throughout the year with bands such as Ded, Kottonmouth Kings, Memphis May Fire, and even the Final Vans Warped Tour. The band played the final Vans Warped Tour in the summer of 2018. They joined the lineup for Rock USA the following year as well as continued their support for the album. In January of 2020, the band released the first single from their 2nd LP. The single, Control, pushed over 500k views and streams before the album release and continues to grow. The band released 4 more singles, riding the wave through the unfortunate 2020 global pandemic.Discrepancies recently released their second LP "The Rise" on Invogue RecordsWe want to hear from you! The artist known as “Da2ndletter” won’t let anything stop him from getting his music heard. His recent street campaign has helped to promote his latest music project titled “100 Rack¥.” Those who follow him through social media were able to watch when he enlisted video cameras to document his hustle. He went from “mom and pop” shops to Wichita-based radio stations which have the ability to put his music into regular rotation.  “I wanted to show that I’m out here grinding,” says Da2ndletter. “It was important for me to make myself more visible.” With most independent musicians relying solely on social media to get the word out about their music, Da2ndletter, wanted to step outside of the box. He’s glad to know that people are taking notice of him and feels he’s helping to set the standard for how fellow independent artists get their music into the hands of consumers. Da2ndletter, originally from Denver, CO, has performed as an opening act for Do or Die, RZA from Wu Tang, Beanie Sigel and has toured with the Outlawz and Johnny Richter of the Kottonmouth Kings. Although garnering some new fans, Da2ndletter has also ruffled some feathers with his criticism of local DJs. He has expressed his belief that DJs don’t properly support indie artists. Welcome back to the second round of our EGGS exclusive two-part conversation with John Edney, AKA John E. Necro, singer, songwriter and founding member of the world famous music group OPM. After a stratospheric rise to fame there was a cataclysmic fall going from literally top of the world to enduring break-ups and personnel shifts, finding their home on a smaller label and overcoming the harsh realities of the music business. We also talk about the future of the band, Jiu-Jitsu and starting a business—Tarantula Hill Brewing Co.—a new craft-beer brewery and restaurant coming later this year to Thousand Oaks, California. Because of the epic, long-form nature of this discussion we not only broke our conversation into two episodes but we've left it largely in its raw, unedited form for your enjoyment. Wether you are one of OPM's millions of global fans or this is the first time you've heard of them, either way you're going to love this. You aren't going to want to miss this epic conclusion of the two-part series brought to you by your friends at EGGS live from MNO Studios in Marina Del Rey, California. On this very special two-part edition of EGGS we have John Edney. John, better known as John E. Necro is a singer, songwriter and founding member of the world-famous music group OPM. Known worldwide from the success of their single "Heaven is a Halfpipe" OPM came to see stratospheric success right out of the gates playing to sold out shows both in the USA and abroad. John took some time out of his day for what became a nearly four-hour discussion on the past, present and future of the Los Angeles based group. Bcause of the long-form nature of this discussion we not only broke our conversation into two episodes but we've left it largely in its raw, unedited form for your enjoyment. This week we have an episode that I’m shocked was possible. I’m talking to Kevan Aguilar, who was more than happy to subvert expectations by sharing his summer-long love affair with the incredibly awful Kottonmouth Kings. We’re dissecting Peace Not Greed from the year 2G featuring Jack Grisham of TSOL and a total lack of perspective on police brutality. Kevan talks about identifying with the anti-authoritarian message of the song, his mom being cool with him hanging a poster of the band holding a giant platter of weed, and how this may relate to him becoming straightedge shortly thereafter. Also: a quaintly optimistic take on the effects of weed legalization, a weird intersection of fake libertarianism and new age spirituality, and lots of juicy youtube beef.
