Mark Morton Talks Chester Bennington, Solo Album Without The Pain & Lamb Of God's Future On The Loaded Radio Podcast TL;DR: Lamb Of God guitarist Mark Morton joins the Loaded Radio Podcast to talk about his soulful new solo album Without The Pain, collaborating with late Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington, the creative process in Lamb Of God, and his honest thoughts on both current and former bandmates. Mark Morton Unleashes His Blues-Driven Side With Without The Pain Mark Morton isn't just the riff-slinging guitar beast from Lamb Of God. On this week's episode of the Loaded Radio Podcast, the guitarist pulls back the curtain on his newest solo release Without The Pain, a record steeped in blues, southern rock, and emotional depth. Released via Rise Records, Without The Pain features a diverse lineup of guests, including Cody Jinks, Neil Fallon (Clutch), Grace Bowers, Jason Isbell, Charlie Starr (Blackberry Smoke), and Jaren Johnston (The Cadillac Three). It's a sharp turn from the punishing rhythms of Lamb Of God, yet unmistakably Mark Morton. During the podcast, Morton explains how the album was years in the making, allowing him to fully explore the stylistic roots that shaped his musical identity long before he ever set foot on a metal stage.  Collaborating With Chester Bennington: The Story Behind “Cross Off” One of the most emotionally resonant points of the podcast is Morton's reflection on working with late Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington. The two teamed up on “Cross Off,” a standout track from Morton's 2019 debut solo album Anesthetic. Morton opens up about the power of that collaboration — how Bennington brought a raw intensity to the track, and how the session still resonates with him today. Lamb Of God, Sobriety, And Looking Forward Of course, no conversation with Mark Morton is complete without diving into Lamb Of God. In this episode, he shares honest reflections on the band's internal dynamics — both past and present. Morton touches on his long journey with sobriety, how it's impacted his creative process, and how the band's chemistry continues to evolve after more than two decades of making heavy music together. Morton also hints at what's ahead for Lamb Of God, suggesting that while his solo work is a vital creative outlet, there's plenty of fuel left in the fire when it comes to the band's future output. Listen To The Full Interview Want to hear Mark Morton discuss songwriting secrets, guest collaborations, Lamb Of God's legacy, and his love of southern blues? Hit play on the podcast episode below and get the full story straight from the man himself. FAQ Q: What is Without The Pain by Mark Morton? A: It's Mark Morton's second solo album, exploring blues and southern rock influences with a range of guest musicians. Q: Who features on Without The Pain? A: The album includes appearances by Cody Jinks, Neil Fallon, Grace Bowers, Jason Isbell, Jaren Johnston, and more. Q: Did Mark Morton work with Chester Bennington? A: Yes, on the track “Cross Off” from his first solo album Anesthetic in 2019. Q: Is Mark Morton still in Lamb Of God? A: Absolutely. Morton continues to be a key creative force in Lamb Of God while exploring other musical avenues through solo work. Q: What did he say about Chris Adler? A: Morton remains reluctant to discuss the former Lamb Of God drummer and the reasons behind his departure. Mark Morton Bio Mark Morton is the longtime lead guitarist for the Grammy-nominated groove metal band Lamb Of God. Known for his tight, aggressive riffing and technical solos, Morton has been a core part of the band since its early days as Burn the Priest. Outside of Lamb Of God, Mark has carved out a distinct solo identity that explores blues, southern rock, and deeply personal themes. His 2019 debut solo album Anesthetic featured collaborations with artists like Chester Bennington and Jacoby Shaddix, while his 2025 release Without The Pain leans further into heartfelt, roots-driven territory. Morton is also open about his sobriety and personal growth, often using music as a vehicle for emotional expression. He remains one of heavy metal's most versatile and thoughtful guitarists.

Raw and in your face, we hope you like it hot!”"Dunsmuir has given us the opportunity to explore some of our favourite heavy metal influences” adds Davis. "We strove to create something I hope will inspire a lot of head banging all over the world.”Fallon adds, "We turned out some serious metal on this record and it shreds. The concept behind the lyrics is comprised of 10 tales from the survivors of a shipwreck. What had been intended as a scientific expedition, quickly deteriorates into a struggle to survive both the natural and supernatural world.”Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsoFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76

Iconic lyricist and frontman Neil Fallon is our guest this week! We discuss the livestream sessions known as the Doom Saloon that was done to celebrate 30 years of the band, why he felt the need not to do streaming performance pre recorded, on how the latest album was a study centric scenario for the band, on focusing more on storytelling when he wants to present lyrical content, how music videos have been a huge part of their creative process the last decade, the lessons that he learned through the years opening for audiences that seemed not being receptive, if he is open to writing a Clutch autobiography, the importance of traveling to help you empathize with people, and what he wanted to write about when he started writing the new album Sunrise on Slaughter Beach. Petar, Jozalyn, and Sylvia discuss Jozalyn recording her first comedy special in Colorado, missing the Motley Crüe Stadium tour, Trent Reznor's comments on watching the Taylor Hawkins tribute show, and our thoughts on Ozzy Osbourne's comments on his future. Episode 26 marked the halfway through the year spot.  The show aired on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 30 June 2022.  I got a chance to adjust my pants and dance the good time dance with Clutch's 'The Mob Goes Wild' by Clutch as the show opener.  Neil Fallon was in fantastic form on Blast Tyrant, my favorite Clutch album ever.  Then in quick succession, we had two tracks about mothers, ‘Run To Your Mama' by Gary Moore and 'Mothers Spinning In Her Grave' by Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains fame.  We took in some Seether and then mellowed out in a powerful way with Alter Bridge.  We heard a track called 'Life Must Go On',  and it must, no matter how fucked up the current situation is.  From there very mellow, probably too mellow actually, with Ryan Adams off an album called 1989 and a track called ‘Bad Blood'.   Things warmed up with Black Country Communion and Satan (the band not the dude),  and then we hit a bit of a Guns ‘n' Roses theme with a cover of 'My Michelle' courtesy of L.A. Guns. Phil Lewis's very British accent and Tracii Guns's guitar tone added serious value to the track.  The new stuff came from Megadeth and Ozzy.  Megadeth, in particular, is fantastic, seriously amazing, if the rest of the album is like this track titled ‘We'll Be Back' then its album of the year already.  We checked out the new Ozzy, which is great, even though I blow hot and cold on it, I am warming to it.  Make your own mind up on this one. I love Jeff Becks contribution but I'm not a fan of Andrew Watt in the produccers chair.  I made up for a dearth of South African music over the last two weeks, starting with Richard Prior in his Pebbleman guise and a cover of the Warren Heynes track made famous by Joe Bonamassa called ‘If Heartaches Were Nickels', nickles, not nipples lol,  Springbok Nude Girls, Mark Haze & 12th Avenue, Jack Hammer and a Cape Town metal band called Infanteria.  Infanteria is a seriously world-class thrash band in the mold of Slayer, Metallica, and Testament, thanks to Metal Malletjie Greg Scott for finding them. From there it was the downhill run with some US Punk (Blink 182 and Fall Out Boy) and some UK Punk (The Clash and The Jam) and We ended heavy with Sepultura, Arch Enemy, and Destruction.   There was probably too much moaning about the state of the country, load shedding, and abomination that the ANC has become so apologies for that, to quote the Boss "Someday we'll look back on this and it will all seem funny".  Let's hope hey.  Artists featured:  Clutch, Gary Moore, Jerry Cantrell, Korn, Seether, Alter Bridge, Ryan Adams, Black Country Communion, Satan, Michael Schenker Group, L.A.Guns, Dangerous Toys, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Def Leppard, Black Spiders, Buckcherry, Ozzy Osbourne, Rose Tattoo, Trivium, Metal Church, Pebbleman, Springbok Nude Girls, Jack Hammer, Mark Haze & 12th Avenue, Infanteria, 182, Fall Out Boy, The Clash, The Jam, The Cult, White Zombie, Sepultura, Arch Enemy, Destruction.   PS, I now know why Ryan Adams was considered possibly too mellow, his1989 album is a cover album.  Taylor Swift recorded 1989 in 2014 which is the year of her birth, Ryan was born in 1974 and he has songs called 1974 so I guess that is all part of it.  He decided to cover the whole thing.  Taylor Swift hasn't featured on TSORR before, I am aware that there is a Taylor Swift but up until now that was as far as it went.  Don't stress we won't be hearing her album any time soon.    PPS, the TV show where "Chris died for your sins" was Weeds and it was the character Andy who made the shirts.

Hardcore Humanism with Dr. Mike

This week on The Hardcore Humanism Podcast we talked with Neil Fallon – founding member, vocalist and songwriter of the legendary rock band Clutch. In a review of Clutch’s album Book of Bad Decisions (2018), Rolling Stone describes Clutch’s music as “bluesy, riff-centric hard rock with hints of psychedelia and punk, topped off by the gravelly roar of wildly charismatic front man Neil Fallon.” And yet as compelling as Clutch’s music is, one of the most striking qualities of the band is that Clutch has not only retained the same band members for thirty years, but they have also built one of the most passionate and devoted fan bases in rock music. When people talk about Clutch it goes way beyond music they love. They talk about Clutch as the soundtrack of their lives – and remember some of the most important moments in their lives as they relate to Clutch albums and shows. Even for those of us who are not in a band, there’s a lot to be learned from Fallon and Clutch about how to build a supportive community around us. Because one of the most important things that we can all do in our quest to develop a fulfilling and purpose-driven life is to build a culture around us that supports our hopes, our dreams – our vision of who we are and what we want to achieve. Hardcore Humanism therapy and coaching has its foundation in Humanistic psychology. And humanistic psychologists such as Albert Maslow have posited that in order to lead a self-actualized life, we must build strong social connections. And decades of research supports the notion that having a strong social support network predicts improved physical and mental health. And yet while we have ample evidence that a strong support network improves our health and well-being, most of us aren’t sure of how to go about building a community around us that is optimal for our needs. And while Fallon acknowledges that he and the band did not consciously orchestrate the connection the band has with its fans, he was able to retrospectively point to some possible factors that contributed to their unique and loyal relationship. We hope that as you check out what Fallon has to say, you can apply lessons from his life to yours and learn to build strong, supportive social networks that will help you achieve your own life’s purpose!*****Newsletter: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/su/GBmf0iU/HardcoreHumanismSignUpInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/hardcorehumanism/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/HardcoreHumanism/Twitter: https://twitter.com/hardcorhumanismLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/hardcore-humanism

In Episode 2, host Pete Strobl interviews Clutch drummer Jean-Paul Gaster. “I first became aware of Jean Paul Gaster when I watched a video of the band Clutch. Neil Fallon had contacted me about doing some vocal work and my first move was to watch him sing to see what I might have in store. About halfway through Electric Worry, I found my focus being drawn to the drum kit. “Who is THIS guy?” I asked myself. There was a whole lot of drumming going on here and all of it was interesting as hell. In working with singers around town, I learned that “This Guy” was called Jean Paul Gaster, or J.P. and that he was sitting behind the kit on a host of very diverse recording and performance projects. It doesn't seem to matter if it is Blues, Progressive Rock, traditional R&B, Funk—J.P. is not only at home in every genre, he makes his presence felt with authority and a feel that is unmistakably his alone Listening to J.P. Gaster play drums is an all-you-can-eat rhythmic buffet. His signature voice keeps you getting up to fill your plate again and again. I think you'll find that listening to J.P. talk about his influences, his goals and his musical choices will be every bit as rewarding as seeing him with Clutch as well as his many side projects. Tune in as J.P. and I explore his musical roots, how he chooses drums and what goes through his mind in the studio and on the concert stage.” —Pete Strobl To learn more about Jean-Paul Gaster, visit Clutch online. Before the interview former Guns N' Roses manager & Rock Talk co-host, Alan Niven, explains how music executive Spencer Proffer had a hand in crafting GUNS N' ROSES mega-hit, Sweet Child O' Mine. Neil discusses YouTube & streaming and the band's 'get off my lawn attitude towards it, the future of live performances, social distancing, going 'only digital' with certain releases, how the notion of 'touring cycle' has changed, the impact of Covid-19 on smaller venues, their upcoming The Obelisk box set, having their own record label and much more.  Quotes:  "A record is more of a collector's piece at this point. It's not the way people listen to music whether you like it or not. The majority of people don't care how they get their music... and we just have to adapt." "Terrestrial radio and rock n' roll are done." Subscribe to Rock Talk With Mitch Lafon for exclusive content and interviews. Twitter: @mitchlafon Instagram: @mitch_lafon Support the show.

Neil Fallon admits that it's not something you can just sit down with a pad and paper and start piecing together a song. Nothing productive comes out of that setting. He says "The majority of the time, I get song ideas when I'm stuck in D.C. traffic." He is the special guest on episode 104 of the DOMKcast. Clutch is an intriguing story-started their own record label in 2008 called Weathermaker Records. Their last album was Book Of Bad Decisions released in 2018, hear when their plans are to write and record a new album. Neil Fallon is one of the most distinctive vocalists in music. As the frontman for Maryland quartet Clutch, he has routinely written exceptional couplets and manipulated his voice in a myriad of astonishing and remarkable ways. 2019 marks Fallon’s 28th year fronting Clutch, one of the most respected and consistent bands in heavy rock, and in that time, he has never failed to bring his unique and inimitable style to the band, elevating it above many of their peers. In this exclusive chat backstage at Brixton Academy before headlining their biggest show in the UK to date, Remfry sat down with Neil to discuss his process and his approach to vocals. They discuss everything from Fallon’s roots in the D.C. hardcore punk scene to the new approaches and techniques he has picked up to help on the road touring the band’s twelfth and most recent studio album Book of Bad Decisions. "I think it happens naturally," measured Neil Fallon, vocalist for Clutch, when pressed on the variation within the rock genre that permeates through the bands' music. "Life's too short to not wanna try and learn new things while you're here. Sometimes when writing a record we'll say okay, we've got five or six straight ahead, up-tempo rock numbers, maybe we should try writing a song that's a slower tempo or in a minor key or even some finger picking bass stuff that we sometimes do. Sometimes Jean-Paul (drums) says we don't have any songs in this time signature and we will think about that but for the most part we kind of follow our guts and not overthink it too terribly."Listen to the full interview to hear Neil's thoughts on the upcoming Clutch album 'Book of Bad Decisions', the unusual choice of using a producer in Vance Powell that is better known for country music, the bands formula when it comes to writing, a step back into the early days of the band and how they broke into the music industry, the difficulties faced with coming up with fresh material the more you release, how Clutch have changed musically over their illustrious career and more.Book of Bad Decisions is released September 7 via Weathermaker Music.

Neil Fallon of the mighty Clutch guests this week on your favorite metal podcast! In our interview with the singer, we talk in-depth about the 25 years of the band's history, how it might have just been a nice accident that they have lasted this long, the progression of their music through their career, his side projects Dunsmuir, The Bakerton Group, and The Company Band, dealing with the ever changing landscape of the music business as a band and, more recently, as the owner of the label Weathermaker Music, what the plan looks like for the next 25 years, and what you do when Lemmy gives you advice. Neil also tells us about the Clutch song they played every night for several years but now don't... and gives us details about his house! We also discuss when musicians need to stop. Is there an age limit to the metal? Should bands who cannot do it anymore just finally give up and go home, or is there still a place in metal for the old guard? Vince's editorial about Jason Newstead sparked the discussion about a musician's ability to make good music, be it with a distortion pedal or an acoustic guitar, after his or her prime. Once you are on the treadmill of the industry, do you have to keep running? Can you get off gracefully? How should a musician gauge when their time has passed? And who are we to judge???
