Send us a Text Message.Danny Worsnop, born on September 4, 1990, in Beverley, East Yorkshire, England, is best known as the lead vocalist of the British rock band Asking Alexandria. His distinctive voice and charismatic stage presence have been central to the band's success and evolution over the years.Worsnop co-founded Asking Alexandria in 2008 alongside guitarist Ben Bruce. The band quickly gained traction in the metalcore scene with their debut album, Stand Up and Scream, released in 2009. This album was characterized by its heavy breakdowns, electronic elements, and Worsnop's powerful screams and melodic singing. It helped establish the band as a force within the genre, and Worsnop's dynamic vocal abilities were a significant factor in this rise.Following the success of their debut, Asking Alexandria released Reckless & Relentless in 2011. This album marked a shift towards a more rock-oriented sound while retaining their metalcore roots. Worsnop's versatility as a vocalist was showcased through his ability to switch seamlessly between harsh and clean vocals, contributing to the album's critical and commercial success. In 2013, the band released From Death to Destiny, further evolving their sound. This album leaned more towards hard rock and featured Worsnop exploring a wider range of vocal styles. His performance on tracks like "The Death of Me" and "Moving On" highlighted his growth as a singer and songwriter. However, in 2015, Worsnop parted ways with Asking Alexandria to focus on other musical endeavors, including his rock band We Are Harlot and a solo career. During this period, he explored different genres, showcasing his versatility as an artist. His solo work, particularly the album The Long Road Home, delved into country and blues influences, demonstrating his ability to adapt and excel in various musical styles. In a surprising turn of events, Worsnop rejoined Asking Alexandria in 2016. The band's self-titled album, released in 2017, marked http://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarnThis episode is sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn and brought to you as always by The Barn Media Group. We had the pleasure of interviewing SAUL over Zoom video!Saul issue a call for connection in their music. The Iowa quartet—brothers Blake Bedsaul [lead vocals] and Zach Bedsaul [lead guitar, backup vocals], William McIlravy [bass, backup vocals], and Myles Clayborne [drums]—continue to bring audiences together with a one-two punch of precise and pummeling metallic grooves and towering magnetic melodies. Amassing tens of millions of streams and earning acclaim from Revolver, Guitar World, Loudwire, and many more, the group fortify an unbreakable bond with listeners on their second full-length offering, THIS IS IT…THE END OF EVERYTHING [Spinefarm].Saul emerged out of the Midwest in 2017 and tirelessly bulldozed a path to the forefront of modern rock. They notably performed alongside everyone from Motionless In White, Atreyu, August Burns Red, Crown The Empire, Bush, and 10 Years to HELLYEAH and Nonpoint in addition to gracing the stages of festivals, including Rebel Rock, Rock Fest, Rock USA, Inkcarceration, and Blue Ridge Rock Fest with Rob Zombie, Mudvayne, and Slipknot. The group independently landed a bona fide hit in the form of “Brother”—an homage to the co-founders' late brother Caleb. It marked their first #1 on Sirius/XM Octane in addition to gathering over 9 million Spotify streams and paving the way for their 2020 full-length debut, Rise As Equals. Co-written with David Draiman of Disturbed, “King Of Misery” reeled in 3.7 million Spotify streams, while “Trial By Fire” also surpassed 3 million Spotify streams. Of the former, American Songwriter praised“‘King of Misery' wasted no time jumping into the heavy mainstream riffs that Saul set out to wrangle,” and Outburn hailed its “futuristic and cinematic video.”Expanding the sonic palette, the guys collaborated with producer Kile Odell [Motionless In White, Nita Strauss] this time around. They initially teased this chapter with “JACK & JILL,” which tempers a hypnotic harmony with a heavy groove. On its heels, they unleashed the single “A MILLION MILES.” Co-written with Johnny Andrews [Three Days Grace, Starset, Theory of a Deadman], a seesawing riff and electrifying melody give way to a chant-able chorus laced with raw emotion befitting of the central theme.Hummable keys set the tone for “RUNAWAY,” dissolving into a harmonic riff. The breathy verses break like a wave on a refrain tailor-made for a live singalong, “Treat me like a runaway, because I'm vanishing. I don't think I'll be missed.”An ominous sample snaps into a pummeling chug on the opener “TOOTH & NAIL.” Clean vocals snake through the verses towards a warning, “There's no escape.”Then, there's “BETTER AS A MEMORY.” It swings between schizophrenic extremes highlighted by unpredictable instrumental dynamics and a heart-wrenching vocal performance, “Deep down you know, I'd be better as a memory.”In the end, Saul create the soundtrack for breaking free.We want to hear from you! Over the past few weeks, Mike has been deep diving into the discography of one of Adam's favorite bands that he fell in love with during his teen years, The Doors. With a lot to say and cover about the band, this week we decided to do a track-by-track breakdown of the band's final album with Jim Morrison - released 3 months prior to his untimely death in 1971 - 'LA Woman'. Not only do we discuss each song at length, but we talk about the experience of what it's like listening to some of these songs under the influence of mind-altering substances. It gets trippy, folks! Also on this week's episode, we've got the sales numbers of Trapt's newest album; we share our thoughts on some recently released albums from nothing, nowhere., Crown The Empire, and If I Die First; and we continue our punk revival journey with Green Day and Bad Religion. We hope that you enjoy this nostalgia filled journey this week! Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh, a beautycore band from Jacksonville, stops by the Chord Progression podcast and they deliver. We go into how they grew up in music, how their father was the one that influenced the 3 sisters to start a band, their stories from the road, and our personal favorite story of how they started throwing cupcakes at their shows. These girls straight up rock and we know you are going to love hearing what they have to say. We can't wait to have them back on the show soon, and hopefully it will be live and before we get to see them play. Love their music and you will too. Then Kevin does a deep dive into the newest music that dropped recently, including new albums from Crown The Empire and Sum 41, along with the latest Sleeping With Sirens single that absolutely slaps. Yes, you read that right, and for anyone who doesn't recognize the name, Shawn Milke is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for Alesana AND President of A&R and Director of Creative Production of Revival Recordings! That's on top of guesting on band's singles, his band Tempting Paris fronted by his sister, 307 Artist Management, his original band that's reuniting this summer, not to mention he's also a family man! Ian still can't believe that he made time to be on Ian Hates Music! You'll hear for sure that Ian is blown away during this conversation with Shawn. I'll let Ian go over why before he introduces Shawn, but remember that Ian is a huge fan of the people he brings on the show to share with you. So this conversation definitely affects Ian and his speech, hahaha. That's what happens when you're so passionate about music. You'll hear that during this conversation. Below are the links to find everything Shawn Milke related (and more!): Shawn Milke: https://twitter.com/shawnthemilke Revival Recordings: http://www.revivalrecs.com/ https://www.facebook.com/Revivalrecs/ http://revivalrecordings.merchnow.com/ https://twitter.com/RevivalRecs https://www.instagram.com/revivalrecordings/ Alesana: https://twitter.com/Alesana https://www.facebook.com/alesana/ https://www.instagram.com/alesanaofficialig/ Tempting Paris: https://www.facebook.com/TemptingParis/ https://temptingparis.bandcamp.com/ https://twitter.com/temptingparis 307 Artist Management: https://www.facebook.com/307artistmanagement Alesana Army: https://www.facebook.com/TheAlesanaArmy https://www.instagram.com/alesanaarmy/ You've heard Ian throughout numerous shows talk Alesana as well as the quality of the bands on Revival Recordings (see past episodes for The Things They Carried and Alteras to name a couple). Make sure to support Shawn in his many endeavors as well as Revival Recordings! After the conversation with Shawn, Ian goes through more scene news, new music, etc, but the episode will be slightly more brief because Ian will be at Warped Tour! So look forward to a full recap of Ian's time at Warped in next week's show! Vanna, Red Handed Denial, Emarosa, Crown The Empire, Take The Fall, and even more are discussed!
