After Ruth Bader Ginsburg's passing, the Supreme Court and its open seat have been getting a lot of media attention — and for good reason. But to understand the gravity of what it all means and how this open seat can affect our daily lives, we must first understand the basics of what the Supreme Court does. And that's exactly what we cover in S1E3 of the American Dream on Caffeine podcast. Star Trek: Lower Decks – Season 1 Episode 3 – Temporal Edict We’re back with the third episode of Lower Decks, titled Temporal Edict! This episode was written by We all hate Delta Shift… This episode we learned a lot more about the inner workings of the Lower Decks crew. Buffer Time, Margaritas, violin odes to Boimler’s Mother. Um… yeah, that. Captain Freeman loses an all important peace accord at Cardassia Prime and demoted to a lousy return to an old first contact gift giving mission only to find out that her crew is not as efficient at doing their jobs as she thought. Mix in a Ransom and Mariner away mission that goes awry with some aliens who seems to hate wood and love geodes that leads to a weird, almost uncomfortable romantic spark between the two that I can’t say I enjoyed. Over all this episode had some fun one liners, a lot of shoutouts to old Trek favorites, interlocked hands epic fight scenes and some great listener feedback for this episode of Lower Decks – Temporal Edict. Star Trek: Lower Decks – Season 1 Episode 2 – Envoys We’re back with the second episode of Lower Decks, titled Envoys! Sorry for the lateness of this episode. Unfortunately, we had to record four days late, and I already had a full week. A strange energy sphere… The cold open was interesting, with an energy being strolling in and looking like the being from the TNG episode The Child, who Mariner manipulates to give them a new tricorder. It then seems to be absorbed by Captain Freeman, in a Tilly spore-like absorption. We’re both pretty sure that we will be seeing this entity again later this season. Boimler & Mariner escort a Klingon General… Boimler gets the assignment to escort General K’orin to Tulgana IV, only to find Mariner is also going. We see Mariner’s ease at handling every situation, while Boimler fails miserably. There’s a very funny scene that describes about 50 plots of Trek episodes, and then Mariner thinks a Ferengi is a Bolian, even with the over the top “Hu-mann” from TNG Season 1. It gives Boimler the confidence boost he needs, and we find out that she took one for the team. Rutherford’s career fair… The idea of Rutherford changing careers just so he can accompany Tendi to watch a pulsar seems more than a little far fetched, but it does bring us several funny scenes. The bridge simulation was especially laugh out loud funny, and I did enjoy the “Smorgasborg”. Medical was less interesting, but still interesting. Rutherford, with his cyborg talents, would make a great security officer, but he would rather hang out in a Jefferies tube. Engineering, through and through. He still reminds me a lot of LaForge. Welcome to our Rebinge of Star Trek DS9: A Man Alone This is our third full episode on our Rebinge DS9 journey! Last episode someone from Kira’s past appeared, this episode it’s someone from Odo’s past who turns up. The difference though, is somebody murders this guy and it’s starting to look like it might have been Odo! We also get a glimpse into Miles’ life as Miles and Keiko are seen arguing in Quark’s. She’s a little bored since there’s no need for a botanist on DS9. (Are you sure? Have you checked those vines growing in Quark’s? Somebody should study those!) Keiko takes over the angry female role for a bit, but eventually figures out what she can do with all of that extra time on her hands. Look out Jake…time to go to school. An angry mob is forming against Odo. Odo is a “man” alone Odo remains stoic and tries to deflect the suspicion coming his way. Sisko says he’s sure Odo is innocent, but is he really? We don’t know him that well and he had every opportunity to stab the dude. Meanwhile, an angry mob is forming outside Odo’s office and a guy with some very 90’s feathered hair has it out for the Shifter. Torches and pitch forks are sure to follow! Julian finds some interesting cells that he’s planted in his lab. It looks like he’s defrosting a turkey for Thanksgiving, but it’s probably something else. We keep checking in on the turkey throughout the episode waiting for it to turn into something interesting. What’s this rebinge thing? It’s a re-watch of a thing you’ve already seen but love to watch and talk about. We go deep with every episode, walking you through every scene and analyzing all of the characters and story lines. Listen to our intro episode if you want to know a little more about us. And kick off the whole thing with our rebinge of the pilot episode Emissary. Next time… We dig into Season 1 Episode 4 of DS9: Babel. Be sure and join our Facebook group and Follow Rebinge It on Twitter!

In this week’s episode a few lessons are learned. 1 always be honest when you mess up, 2 never let Lisa Turtle wait tables, & 3 never let Reuben and Nicole record early in the morning with little to no caffeine or alcohol. Hear Iain’s exasperation and uncomfortable laughter as we dive into the episode. Join us as we discuss Nicole’s semi-privileged upbringing and how she can easily relate to Lisa’s plight, whether we will ever see any of the nerd genius Screech was originally written to be, locker technology, questioning your sexuality 1989 vs 2018, and more Belding being Belding. Podfader #3 Howdy -- I’m Kyle Bondo, and this is Podfader! My weekly podcast about helping you keep your podcast from podfading, especially when the drive for new and interesting content becomes a struggle. S1:E3 -- Come Back to Podcasting Podcasting will always provide you with greater opportunities for discovery, audience growth, and monetization than blogging or video could ever wish to do. An excuse I’ve heard podfaders give for leaving their podcast. It has to do with their confidence in podcasting as a medium for delivering a message. Somewhere, they were told that blogging and video are far more effective. What reason do they give for the effectiveness of blogging and video? Simply put, they claim that more people -- way more people -- are familiar with how to find it. With a blog -- it's a Link to a webpage. They can share a link on any social media, and it goes right to their blog. Done. With a video -- it's a Link to a video. They can share a link on any social media, and it goes right to Youtube. Or it will play right in the post. Again... done. And they are right. Podcasting does not have this advantage. You really can’t put the audio from your podcast into a Facebook post. You can put something that kind-of works like that -- even if it's a snippet of audio. But it is not the same user experience as having a video play. And let’s not forget that Facebook is really not an audio platform. You can also add a podcast player to your website that could be found by an including a website link. Someone could go to that page and hear your latest episode too. However, if they start to see what else is on your podcast website, they player usually stops unless it's super special. And the mobile experience with that setup is very disappointing. To get the same experience as video, they need to connect your podcast to a dedicated player. That’s if they even know what a dedicated player is. There are still a few extra steps in the podcast listening experience before it becomes seamless. But that is their main argument. Because it’s not seamless -- not yet -- it's not as effective as blogging or video. That is a very powerful claim -- especially if it can convince podcasters to leave podcasting altogether. But is it true? I take this on one medium at a time... About the Show Podfader, hosted by veteran podcaster Kyle Bondo, focuses on the challenges of keeping your podcast going and the drive we all have has creators to keep our podcasts going with new and interesting content. If you’re a struggling podcaster, Podfader will be your sanctuary to get you through the messy middle of any podcasting strategy. Stop fading and start casting! Waaaay, back in S1E3, Sophie asked "Why is Wonder Woman in World War I?" We speculated about dramatic/thematic and cultural reasons why you might set a Wonder Woman movie in The Great War, and now that the movie is out, and you've all seen it (right?), they're hear to talk about it. Does the setting make sense? Is the movie any good? What's up with Ludendorff? Would we say that Steve Trevor is a typical example of his sex?

Talking Through So Close, Yet So Far We are now one-third of the way through Season 1 of The Walking Dead companion series, and with episode 2, titled So Close, Yet So Far, we say, “so far, so good.” The story keeps building at a steady pace, instead of light speed and gives us a chance to really see what the beginning of the end of civilization would be like for ordinary people. But can this momentum be sustained? It may be too soon to tell, but we can’t wait to find out! New characters… We meet the Salazars this episode, including Daniel and Ofelia, played by series regulars Ruben Blades and Mercedes Mason. No new episode next week… While there is no new episode next week, AMC will be re-airing the first two episodes. So, it’s not too late to tell all your friends and get them into the world of The Walking Dead. The deadline for the next episode, S1E3, which is titled, The Dog, is 6 PM Eastern/5 PM Central Tuesday, September 15, 2015, Ratings are down but still good!
