I'm just saying, it seems like a bad idea to start in the middle of something at the start of something, ya know? Oh, was that a confusing way to start a chapter summary? Well luckily we would never do something like that! The trio is back again to keep analyzing the sociopolitical atmosphere of this feast and also dip into our collective vast knowledge of animal biology and physiology and discuss swan wings! Hey, what a wonderful kind of day to discuss Chapter 21 of Soul of the Fire.
Seems like a click bait title doesn't it?! That's the tip of the iceberg when it comes to complaints on the show. Tyler complains about his burning hot mouth and tongue and ears and nose while eating The Last Dab Hot Sauce from First We Feast and Firehouse Subs! Dave complains about a movie, Tyler thinks a movie is overhyped, and... and... and...Get the VIDEO VERSION of the Podcast HERE!!!! @TylerCarrfm@Energy106fmTyler Carr on Tik Tok
2025 is expected to be a hell of a year, if you ask the Digiday staff. After the whirlwind that was 2024, the new year seems to promise a cocktail of chaos and topics the industry can't escape. Or as Digiday managing editor Sara Jerde puts it, “2025 will be the year of the Twinkies, the cockroaches, TikTok potential ban, and third-party cookies.” Last year, several rocks were thrown in the water, ripple effects that'll shake out in 2025 with everything from mergers and acquisitions, a la Omnicom's proposed acquisition of IPG or BuzzFeed's sale of First We Feast, to the proliferation of the social media landscape and the TikTok ban. In this final episode of the year of the Digiday Podcast, host Tim Peterson, executive editor of video and audio at Digiday, is joined by Jerde and Seb Joseph, Digiday's executive editor of news, to discuss what marketers, advertisers and the media need to know to ring in the new year.

At Down North Pizza they are hard at work changing perceptions and the narrative about people impacted by the carceral system while broadening the scope of what it looks like to make an impact in the approaches to addressing this systemic issue. Today I bring you the season 5 opener with a conversation between myself and the founder and owner of Down North Pizza, Muhammad Abdul-Hadi. Learn about the strides this Philly pizzeria has made in combating recidivism, providing opportunities for community restoration and building an even greater network through their foundation, Down North Foundation which is set to have its benefit dinner next Thursday, April 11th. Eric and the iconic Burger Scholar George Motz hang out and talk about bombing moments in and outside of the kitchen. George shares his story of a bombing moment that took place in his early band days. Let's just say mixing whiskey and beer may lead to a drum set being destroyed. He also recounts a tale of an electrical fire at the Food Film Festival right before the mayor came. More importantly, Eric asks the important question: what's the secret to having the best burger? They discuss witnessing bands getting into fights on stage, and Eric shares the story about playing "Truth or Dare" with Madonna. BUY MY NEW BOOK Dumb Ideas TODAY! Break out your spatula and tongs because this week on the podcast we are joined by grillmaster and television personality, George Motz! We get the literal hottest tips from this burger expert about the best way to grill burgers (it's not outdoors), discuss the "stunt burger" phenomenon and bond over our similar opinions on the abomination known as surf and turf. We then flip the metaphorical burger patty to discuss George's experiences as a kid taking the train into NYC to see matinee shows at the infamous CBGB (not to be confused with Studio 54). We also discuss the best food to eat at shows, our own culinary experiences as touring musicians/comedians and did you know there are jails on cruise ships? Finally we play a food-centric game of CHANGE DOT DORK where we debate the merits of paying your parents rent, serving veggie burgers at school and the enduring legacy of BBQ Fritos. Be sure to check out George's signature burger now available on Virgin Voyages and his new NYC restaurant Hamburger America, which is opening soon!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On this episode of the Hot Spot series, Gabriel Ornelas sits down with Yiming Lin. He's the creator and food ethnographer behind Literally.Starving—the highly popular social media platform and human interest food account he started in the summer of 2022 as a means of understanding his personal relationships with food and creating community as a new resident to New York. It's no surprise that in less than a year, Literally.Starving has garnered over 3 million subscribers from around the world and has been featured on BuzzFeed, First We Feast, World Journal, Fox News, and numerous other publications. We're excited to have him at On The Pass where we dig deeper into his creator journey. This journey began long before the genesis of Literally.Starving and stretches back to when his Chinese immigrant parents sought a better opportunity and escaped China's one child policy regulations. Yiming's parents settled in Tampa, Florida and opened a local Chinese-American takeout restaurant, which is where he truly found his love and deep curiosity for cooking and how food brings people together. In this episode, we discuss the impact of his upbringing in his family's restaurant, the origins of Literally.Starving, the evolution of both his content creator journey and this platform, and the responsibility and ethics around creating media and having a growing, global platform. It's a story about entrepreneurship, community building, and following one's passions. Hungry for more? Let's get into our exciting conversation with Yiming Lin of Literally.Starving! Welcome to the Beyond the Scope Podcast presented by ND MD. This podcast continues the mission of sharing the incredible stories and experiences of students, physicians, and healthcare professionals...but this time it's all about the things all those years of medical training doesn't prepare you for. Things that are beyond the scope of our practice. It's always a fun time having out of town guests for in-person interviews, so of course we had to welcome Aaron from the @Medschoolboiz-MSB with the gift of nociception. With both of us recently completing USMLE Step 1, we decided to answer some of our followers' burning (haha get it) questions about the daunting exam over a spicy meal of chicken nuggets coated in all the hot sauces from the popular interview show, First We Feast's Hot Ones. Please watch or listen to this so the pain was worth it. Cover Art by Grace Oh [S2:E2] Check out Aaron and all the MedSchoolBoiz across their socials @Medschoolboiz-MSB
