Počitnice oz. dopust večinoma komaj čakamo in se tega časa zelo veselimo. Navadno vsaj za nekaj časa zamenjamo okolje in poskrbimo, da se sprostimo – po možnosti duševno in telesno. Da se bomo s svojo »oslico« vrnili v utečen življenjski in delovni ritem, podajam nekaj previdnostnih sugestij.

Slovenski etnografski muzej že od časa svojih predhodnikov v 19. stoletju zbira tudi zunajevropske zbirke, ki pa jih je od preimenovanja v SEM l.1964 kontinuirano predstavljal ne kot fenomene Drugega, temveč kot prikaz avtohtonih kultur v takratnem obdobju dekolonizacije. Že dolgo ima kustodiat za zbirke iz Afrike in Amerike. Zadnjo razstavo v tej smeri so odprli 18. junija letos in bo na ogled do 6. septembra. Gre za razstavo »Tanzanija: Med senco kolonializma in sodobnimi pogledi«. Zasnovala jo je kustosinja dr. Tina Palaić, naša sogovornica, s katero smo se sprehodili po razstavi in načeli razmislek o posledicah kolonializma ob primeru afriške države Tanzanije. Razstava temelji na zbirki predmetov in fotografij iz zapuščine Vrhničanke Antonije Grom in njenega sina Stanka, ki so jo potomci pred nekaj leti izročili muzeju. Tina Palaić je razstavo pripravila v sodelovanju s tanzanijskim muzealcem in umetnikom Eliabujem Mbonimbo, ki je spoznal kraje, v katerih sta delala omenjena Vrhničana, Antonija od l.1930, sin Stanko pa od l.1937 do vrnitve domov l.1962. Z avtorico koncepta razstave sva ob ogledu razmišljala o posledicah kolonializma, ne le v Tanzaniji, ampak na splošno, skupaj s širšim kontekstom povojnega obdobja dekolonizacije in vloge Jugoslavije v gibanju neuvrščenih držav. Three months after a wildfire burned 32,500 hectares of Jasper National Park, locals in the municipality are finding a way to rebuild their lives next to the charred remains of what they've lost. As this fire season comes to an end and the tourist town prepares for winter, Now or Never meets Jasperites as they navigate grief and new beginnings together. Joe Urie, a Métis tour guide and longtime local, brings Ify Chiwetelu and Trevor Dineen up to Old Fort Point, for a mountain top view of  what Jasper looks like today. Lorraine Stanko searches through the debris of her friends' and neighbours' homes, trying to find valuables that weren't destroyed by the wildfire.
