Arheologi že dolgo niso več le žličkarji, ki iz tal pod nami izvabljajo okostnjake in zaklade. V zadnjem času ta veda doživlja skokovit napredek, saj si podaja roke z radiokarbonskimi in izotopskimi analizami ter genetskimi preiskavami, ob pomoči katerih lahko samo na osnovi prgišča prsti ugotavlja, kako so ljudje živeli pred tisočletji, kaj so jedli in kako so se gibali. Ime meseca novembra je postal Matija Zupan, vodja enote TeleKap, telemedicinske mreže Nevrološke klinike ljubljanskega kliničnega centra, ki je v Sloveniji na voljo že 10 let. Letno na daljavo opravijo približno 1200 pregledov bolnikov z znaki akutne možganske kapi, s pravočasnim ukrepanjem nevrologov pa omogočajo takojšnje zdravljenje, ki je nujno za preprečitev trajnih posledic.

Akim Pekunov in Maša Kastelic, športna plesalca, ki sta na svetovnem prvenstvu v kombinaciji desetih plesov v armenskem Erevanu osvojila naslov svetovnih prvakov. V kraljevski disciplini, kombinaciji standardnih in latinskoameriških plesov, sta premagala 30 najboljših plesnih parov z vsega sveta in Slovenijo po dolgem premoru vrnila na svetovni plesni zemljevid.

Knjižnice, bralna društva, strokovna združenja in številni partnerji, ki sodelujejo v tej največji akciji bralne kulture, želijo to jesen branje pripeljati izza zidov domov, knjižnic in šol v galerije, muzeje, nakupovalna središča, parke, tudi v gozdove, in tako spodbujati prebivalke in prebivalce k branju in okrepitvi njihove bralne pismenosti. Ta pa - kot razgrinjajo raziskave - upada pri mladostnikih in odraslih. Zakaj? Kako motivirati otroke in odrasle k dolgoročnemu branju v digitalni dobi? Matija je potomec Slovenca in Avstralke škotsko-irskega porekla, ki sta skupaj sicer le dve leti preživela v Sloveniji, vendar sta svoje otroke vzgajala (tudi) kot Slovence. Svoje otroštvo je preživel na obali Melbourna, prestolnice avstralske zvezne dežele Viktorija, kjer s svojim partnerjem sicer pol-Američanom živi še danes. Po nekaj letih neizpopolnjujočega in dokaj mukotrpnega dela v pravu (kot zastopnik priseljencev je v kmalu obupal nad učinki svojih prizadevanj znotraj rigidnega in tujcem neprijaznega avstralskega sistema),zdaj išče čim več priložnosti za kreativno pisanje, ki ga veseli že od majhnih nog. Neka prijateljica scenaristka ga je odvrnila od ideje, da bi pisal knjige, saj bi s tem le stežka preživel, zato zdaj piše scenarije za filme in televizijske serije. Njegova želja je, da bi vse življenje preživel kot Slovenec, Avstralec, Američan ... pa še kaj - prebivalec sveta, skratka, ki bi se redno selil po različnih koncih planeta in raziskoval različna okolja. Pravi namreč, da so zgodbe, ki se jih lahko prelije na papir in na filmsko platno, vedno zgodbe vseh ljudi, ne samo pripadnikov ene določene kulture.

Join Biti Roi in a critical and meaningful exploration of religious faith and doubt as filtered through the mind of a radical mystic, Rabbi Nachman of Breslov and the luminous words of the Tikkunei Zohar. Dr. Biti Roi is a Senior Fellow of the Kogod Research Center of Contemporary Jewish Thought. Biti holds a Ph.D from Bar Ilan University and is a lecturer in the Department of Jewish Thought at the Hebrew University and the Schechter Institute in Jerusalem, where she teaches kabbalah and Hasidism. She was a leader and participant in the first cohort of the Beit Midrash for Israeli Rabbis and teaches at the Shalom Hartman Institute for various programs in Israel and abroad. Exploring Mystical Union and Spiritual Embodiment in Jewish Mysticism with Professor Adam Afterman. Adam Afterman is a Research Fellow of the Kogod Research Center at the Shalom Hartman Institute and the chair of the Department of Jewish Philosophy and Talmud at Tel Aviv University. Professor Afterman's main fields of research are medieval Jewish philosophy, kabbalah, and Jewish mysticism. His most recent book, And They Shall Be One Flesh: On the Language of Mystical Union in Judaism (Brill, 2016), offers an extensive study of mystical union and spiritual embodiment in Judaism. Professor Afterman studies Jewish thought in its broader Muslim and Christian contexts and explores how medieval Judaism was transformed in detailed response to philosophy and Muslim and Christian high culture. Join us for a profoundly heartful conversation on the musical and textual life of Jewish mysticism with Melila Hellner-Eshed. Melila Hellner-Eshed, Ph.D., is a Research Fellow of the Kogod Research Center at Shalom Hartman Institute and the Director of Maskilot, an intensive two-year program for female doctoral candidates, now opening its fourth cohort. She also founded and co-directs the Rabbinical Students Seminar, a interdenominational program for rabbinic students spending a year in Israel. She has been a professor of Jewish mysticism and Zohar in the Department of Jewish Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem for over two decades. She received her degree from Hebrew University under the tutelage of Professor Yehuda Liebes. At the Hebrew University, Melila also taught in the honors teacher-training program Revivim and in the Amirim honors program for liberal studies. For the past three decades, she has been a central figure in the Israeli renaissance of study of Jewish texts by Israeli adults of all paths of life in various frameworks. She has been teaching and working with Jewish communities in North America, Europe and the former Soviet Union for many years. Her publications include A River Flows from Eden: The Language of Mystical Experience in the Zohar, (Hebrew, Alma and Am Oved Publications, 2005 and English, Stanford University Press, 2009). Her book Seekers of the Face  – From the Secrets of the Idra Rabba in the Zohar was published in Hebrew in 2018, forthcoming in English from Stanford University Press.
