In this episode, Luigi and Ravi explore the Apple Campus, an architectural marvel designed by Norman Foster. Opened in 2017, the campus embodies innovation and collaboration, with 175 acres of land and a main building worth $4.17 billion. Powered by 100% renewable energy and featuring the world's largest panels of curved glass, the campus is a symbol of Apple's commitment to sustainability. With 12,000 employees, the campus fosters creativity and idea-sharing through its design. The campus includes a 930m2 fitness center, the Steve Jobs Theatre, and unique offerings like baby clothes and a designated AR area. The Apple Campus synergizes with Pixar Campus, encouraging collaboration and cross-pollination of ideas. From the central cafeteria to the base isolation system, every aspect of the campus reflects Apple's dedication to excellence and employee well-being. Finally, they uncover the visionary design decisions and personal attachment of Steve Jobs to the Apple Campus. No. 16: A trip to Pixar Mousetalgia's Best Ear Ever #4: A trip to Pixar from June 22, 2014. Kristen reports on an "Incredible" visit to Pixar in Emeryville! But first, we talk about the cost of a day at Disneyland (circa 2014) - do the recent price hikes change people's philosophies about visiting the parks, and if not, why? Team Mousetalgia discusses value vs. time vs. crowds, and we draw interesting conclusions. Next, a listener reviews the live action film "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride," Jeff announces a haunting new project, and then Kristen visits the Pixar Studios for an amazing day at the annual Cartoon Art Museum benefit. Highlights include a trip to the Pixar employee store, Pixar animator Jeff Pidgeon's drawing seminar, a Monsters U art display, lunch in the Luxo Cafe - and the highlight of the day, a panel discussing the Incredibles in honor of its tenth anniversary in the Steve Jobs Theatre, with a presentation by director Brad Bird and head of story Mark Andrews, among a stable of other Pixar animators that worked on the Academy Award-winning film. Sometimes, beyond my intentions, some pieces become all-time favourites, while the rest live in the shadows. I have selected songs from different albums and film scores that have been kept more hidden than others, hoping to reveal some of the pieces that I consider as an important part of my repertoire. ¡Hola Geeks!

“Of every thousand dollars spent in so-called charity today, it is probable that $950 is unwisely spent, so spent indeed as to produce the very evils which it proposes to mitigate or cure.” In this episode of Made You Think, Neil and Nat discuss The Gospel of Wealth by Andrew Carnegie. An essay written later in Carnegie’s life on his philosophy on using money, wealth (and the power that comes with it) well. While still very relevant today it goes against the idea that successful business people are bad people. It’s a model for how wealthy people should use their money for the good of the community. "The man who dies thus rich dies disgraced." We cover a wide range of topics, including: Billionaires through the ages Monopolies and antitrust laws Ways of disposing of wealth (including our Patreon page) Tangents on life expectancy, intergalactic travel and cyborg pets! Carnegie’s legacy of libraries, music halls and universities Using wealth to enrich the lives of others How to help others and effective altruism And so much more! He also followed these rules using his own money. This essay was a call to arms to voluntarily use wealth wisely. 04:56 – Warren Buffett and The Giving Pledge. Lowering prices caused by competition. Amazon as hyper-efficient. Removing bloat from traditional businesses. Costco and their own brand product range passing cost benefits on to the consumer. 24:04 – Revival of independent bookstores, clearing the playing field for those that can deliver true value. Recorded 17th September 2017 This week Cassini made its final manoeuvre and crashed into Saturn ending its 13 year scientific mission, some muppets set off a bomb in the Parson's Green Tube Station injuring 29 people (some of them children) but thankfully there were no fatalities and Apple held a small gathering at their new Steve Jobs Theatre to announce some new shiny toys. Mark is off in Budapest enjoying a relaxing break from it all. So in his absence I am joined by Sherman Gossett (Commander Shroom) from Utah, Ruth (@CutieMelon321) and, at incredibly short notice, Guy Searle (@MacParrot) from the My Mac Show. We, of course, give our reactions to the Apple Event, and some other stuff – because, well, what else would we be doing on a podcast? I am especially pleased to welcome Sherman to this episode because he is most definitely NOT an Apple fanboy – but he has a wealth of experience in the world of IT and we look forward to getting an “outsider's” view on the Apple announcements. And I am really sorry that in all the confusion, with Wire dropping people out all over the place, that I forgot to thank our Patreon subscribers... so “THANK YOU Patreon people, you really are lovely people!”** On this week's show: APPLE Apple TV 4K Apple Watch – to LTE or not? Apple has sent invites for their September iPhone event to members of the press. The event is to be held on 10am, Tuesday September 12 PDT. For our listeners in Australia, this equates to 3am Wednesday 13th September Australian Eastern Standard Time. The event will be the first held at Apple’s new campus, in the Steve Jobs Theatre. Gestures are set to change the way we interact with our iPhones, according to a report from Bloomberg. With the rumoured absence of a home button, the report states that a user will unlock the phone by swiping up a thin bar from the bottom of the screen.  Apple may release a “Galaxy Note 8” sized iPhone with 6.4” OLED display next year, if a new report from South Korea’s ETNews is to believed. The phone would be even larger than the Galaxy Note 8, but with almost no bezels, the physical size of the device would be similar to the current iPhone 7 Plus. Apple is pushing for $20 4K movies in iTunes, whilst film studios are pushing for $25 - $30. In the lead up to the rumoured 4K APPle TV announcement, Apple are said to be scrambling to strike deals with movie studios regarding the pricing of 4K movies. Apple wants to continue charging $19.99 for 4K movies, which is the same price currently charged for HD films. Gadget of the Week: Sphero's R2D2 and BB-9
