Sounds! Album der Woche: My Morning Jacket «Is»

«Is» ist das beste My Morning Jacket-Album seit Jahren. +++ PLAYLIST +++ · 22:56 – ANWAY von FROWN LINE · 22:52 – PECKHAM RYE von MONTE MAI · 22:48 – YOU GOT TIME AND I GOT MONEY von SMERZ · 22:43 – PURE LOVE von DJ KOZE FEAT.

The Name Of This Band Is Talking Heads". __________ Alle Shownotes und weiterführenden Links zur Folge "Stop Making Sense" findet ihr hier: https://www.swr.de/swr1/rp/meilensteine/swr1-meilensteine-talking-heads-david-byrne-stop-making-sense-100.html __________ Über diese Songs von "Stop Making Sense" wird im Podcast gesprochen: (13:10) – "Psycho Killer"(31:27) – "Burning Down The House"(35:45) – "Girlfriend Is Better"(41:44) – "Life During Wartime"(52:22) – "Take Me To The River" __________ Ihr wollt mehr Podcasts wie diesen? Your hosts of Lost in Criterion were juniors in high school on September 11, 2001, and that certainly colors our opinion of Todd Solondz's Life During Wartime (2010). And so do current events. Solondz is also 25 years older than us, and while I agree, as Solondz says in one of the bonus features on this release, that the suburbs of New Jersey (where he grew up) and the suburbs of Ohio (where we lived in 2001) are not so different, I think that difference in generations is perhaps insurmountable. The gulf may keep us from fulling "getting" Solondz. I guess my point is that we spend a lot of time this week talking about how we would approach the metaphorical use of child abuse differently in a post-9/11 story, as we were 16 year old children on 9/11. And as is often the case, getting bogged down in what we wanted to see may keep us from fully seeing what Solondz is up to.

Are the Doors and the Kinks heading the same way? … the unique and extraordinary Bill Wyman, “more a witness to the Rolling Stones than a member”, plus Nellcôte and the Birds' Custard. … is the ice finally melting in the Talking Heads camp? … an everyday tale of Culture's “Two Sevens Clash” on the mean streets of North London's garden suburbs.   … was Lennon v the Maharishi an early example of “career cancelling”? … is Life During Wartime from Stop Making Sense the greatest live performance ever filmed? … the curse of the Budokan. … and birthday guests Avi Chaudhuri and Jelltex (who strongly recommends The Mood Elevator's second album, Married Alive).Tickets for Word In Your Ear live at 21Soho on September 25th here: https://www.tickettext.co.uk/1SwIYJWoHKSubscribe to Word In Your Ear on Patreon for early - and ad-free! - access to all of our content: https://www.patreon.com/wordinyourear Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. One of the darkest, most moody, and purely direct thrillers of its era. We talked about Siegel and Eastwood's split authorship and evolution as artists, individuals bucking a broken system, our visits to the real Alcatraz, and more. POOLcast 091 - Dr.Nojoke For our first summer POOLcast in 2023 we have a collector set from our beloved Dr.Nojoke. Classical, dub, techno, ambient, jazz and electronic are carefree mixed together here, creating a marvel over and over again that fits perfectly into the POOLcast concept. "Life During Wartime" - Part 2, is what Dr.Nojoke calls his collage. Part 1 was a little over a year ago ( https://soundcloud.com/thepoolberlin/poolcast-077-drnojoke ). Time has not stopped and continues to pass ceaselessly. Plans of that time have occurred, have been forgotten, have changed or have been postponed. If you try to recall this point in time, it will bear more or less fruit. Predictable, you might think, our existence, chained by the absolute determinism of time. The moment, a quantum of time. The moment as the purpose of life, no consideration, no foresight, nothing that makes our actions tangible and useful beyond the "self in the moment". Are causes and effects even comprehensible for us beyond the moment or is the timeless self just an unattainable fantasy? What does time do to us? Listen and find out. Enjoy. https://soundcloud.com/thepoolberlin/poolcast-091-drnojoke https://poolcast.bandcamp.com/track/poolcast-091-dr-nojoke https://www.mixcloud.com/ThePoolcasts/poolcast-091-drnojoke // Dr,Nojoke https://www.facebook.com/Dr.Nojoke.fanpage/ https://soundcloud.com/dr-nojoke/ https://drnojoke.bandcamp.com/ Clikno https://soundcloud.com/clikno/ https://www.facebook.com/cliknolabel/ https://clikno.bandcamp.com/ rand https://soundcloud.com/rand2018 https://www.facebook.com/randmusic/ https://rand.bandcamp.com/ // The POOL Berlin https://www.thepoolberlin.de/ https://facebook.com/thepoolberlin/ https://soundcloud.com/thepoolberlin/ https://poolcast.bandcamp.com/ https://mixcloud.com/ThePoolcasts/ https://pooltracks.bandcamp.com/ https://open.spotify.com/show/5YxJHKoPPflbj9NKleINUz https://podcasts.apple.com/de/podcast/poolcast/id1462173000 https://overcast.fm/itunes1462173000/poolcast https://pca.st/tC92 https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-pool-berlin/poolcast https://bit.ly/2LwuUBE https://amzn.to/2K3elN4

Perhaps only President Putin and his senior generals know Russia's battle plan for Kyiv. Is the current fighting in its north-western and eastern suburbs an attempt to encircle it, or break into its historic centre? Could it be a prelude to the kind of bombardment that Putin has ordered elsewhere in Ukraine - as well as Syria, and against Chechen separatists in Grozny when he first came to power. What is like to live with those questions, and the anxiety they must cause? The Podil district is one of the oldest in Kyiv, and before the war was a hip inner city neighbourhood, famous for its nightlife.
