Unit4, a leader in enterprise cloud applications for people-centric organisations, has launched international research commissioned from Pierre Audoin Consultants (PAC) examining the transformation challenges facing professional services firms. With 60% saying their work volumes will escalate and/or become more complex in the next 12 months, there is an urgent need to modernise business processes. However, firms face significant challenges to retrieve time lost to fixing operational inefficiencies and errors, which are leading to project delivery delays and teams having to work overtime. One group of global respondents indicates a possible way forward, as 33% say they are running their businesses on modern, integrated, cloud-based platforms, and therefore spend less time correcting errors. Compared to global averages these leaders in adopting cloud-native technologies experience less errors in finance reporting (leading firms: 29%; global average: 37%), and budgeting and forecasting (leading firms: 28%; global average: 36%). Firms in the US are the most advanced (36%) in adopting cloud-based systems, compared to Germany (22%) which has the lowest adoption. Business and Professional Services firms are the most advanced (43%) in embracing the cloud ahead of IT Services (36%). "Professional services firms are facing possibly the biggest inflection point in a lifetime as technology disruption and volatile economic conditions encourage clients to reevaluate their use of consulting expertise," said Donna Dobson, Director Professional Services, Unit4. "PAC's research shows why modernisation of core processes is giving leading firms an advantage in terms of productivity and reduction of time lost on manual processes and error correction. As competition heats up, firms understand that limiting the impact on their workforce is crucial to retaining talent and delivering projects more efficiently." 30% of respondents internationally admit to frequent or regular delays in project delivery due to operational inefficiencies, which rises to 34% among IT Services companies compared to only 25% of Business and Professional Services firms. The Nordics has the highest percentage (34%) admitting regular interruptions to project delivery, compared to 26% in Canada. The state of IT infrastructures could indicate a possible cause, as 66% admit relying on fragmented application environments and 19% even rely on multiple systems requiring manual work and spreadsheets – a figure that rises to 30% in Germany. As a result, it is no surprise that many teams complain of having to work additional hours citing a number of reasons including: 68% – monthly or quarter-close bottlenecks 59% – inconsistent data models 55% – outdated technology 47% are being forced to spend time correcting timesheets while teams must work overtime in areas like accounts reconciliation (37%), project cost & profitability management (37%), and project timeline management (36%). More than a quarter (28%) of client-facing specialists spend more than 30% of the working week completing administrative tasks rather than focusing on their core work. IT Services firms struggle most with overtime with 40% regularly needing to work beyond core hours to complete tasks such as timesheet management, budgeting & forecasting and accounts reconciliation. This is concerning, given that IT Services respondents are also the most likely to say their workloads are going to increase and/or become more complex in the next 12 months. "Many professional services firms are being pushed by clients to transform commercial models to better serve their needs, but this is only possible if firms embrace modern cloud-based systems," said Nick Mayes, senior consultant, PAC. "This will give them the agile, scalable foundations to deliver process automation and adopt AI tools, but it will require investment to optimise and integrate existing workflows so that companies have a single view of company-wide information....

"[The]cruel irony here [is] that the world cannot get its act together to address these threats … people are dying, animals are suffering, we're losing rainforest … these are all interconnected threats," Neil Vora tells me on this week's episode of the Mongabay Newscast, just a day after the World Health Organization (WHO) reported more than 80 deaths in the Democratic Republic of Congo from an outbreak of the Ebola virus. Vora is a former U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) epidemic intelligence service officer who deployed to the DRC to combat Ebola. He says the current strain, the Bundibugyo virus, is particularly dangerous because there is no current approved treatment or vaccine for it. While neither this virus nor the Andes virus, a type of hantavirus that originated in Chile and Argentina and killed three people on a cruise ship, is likely to cause a pandemic, says Vora, he stresses member states of the WHO are unprepared to address a pandemic should one occur. According to Vora, the WHO could have achieved a pandemic agreement to better address the threats pandemics pose. But that fell short when nations failed to adopt a system to equitably share tools such as vaccines. " And now those discussions on the pandemic agreement have stalled, and days later, we have these two outbreaks of zoonotic viruses." He said that prayer is a wartime walkie-talkie, not a domestic intercom to ring up the butler and ask for another pillow. When I first heard that, it stopped me cold. Because if I'm honest, I have to admit that a whole lot of my praying has looked a lot more like the intercom than the walkie-talkie.Think about that image for a minute. A walkie-talkie on the battlefield is urgent. It's essential. A soldier doesn't pick up that radio and say, "Hey, while you've got a minute, could you make things a little more comfortable back here?" No. He keys that mic because he's in a fight, because the situation is serious, because he needs firepower and he needs it now. There's no casual tone on a battlefield radio. There's urgency. There's purpose.But so many of us, and I include myself here, because I'm too soon old and too late smart on this one, we've wandered away from that battlefield mentality. We treat prayer like a nice spiritual habit, something we do before meals and at bedtime. A gentle, civilized little routine. And then we wonder why our prayers feel thin, why heaven seems quiet, why nothing seems to be happening.Here's the thing. Paul didn't write Ephesians 6:18 from a comfortable study. He wrote it as a prisoner, in a real spiritual battle, surrounded by the full armor of God language, describing a real enemy. And right in the middle of all that armor, right after the sword of the Spirit, he says, "Praying always." Not "praying occasionally when things get rough." Always. Urgently. With all perseverance.The reason prayer malfunctions for so many of us is that we've forgotten we're at war. We've gotten comfortable. We've pulled back from the front lines, and we're trying to use a battlefield radio to order room service.Friend, history is just HIS story, and right now you have a role in it. You are on assignment. You have been given direct access to the General's headquarters. Use it. Jesus tells two powerful parables in Luke 15 about a lost sheep and a lost coin that reveal God's passionate pursuit of every person. When religious leaders criticized Jesus for spending time with sinners, He responded by showing that God urgently seeks the lost with the same intensity as a shepherd searching for one missing sheep or a woman hunting for a precious coin. The heart of God is filled with love-driven urgency for every person because we are made in His image and have infinite worth. Our lack of evangelistic passion often stems not from logical concerns but from insufficient love for others. God eagerly waits to receive sinners and celebrates every salvation with heavenly joy. -------------------- ' Now all the tax collectors and sinners were coming to hear him. But the Pharisees and the experts in the law were complaining, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” So Jesus told them this parable: “Which one of you, if he has a hundred sheep and loses one of them, would not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go look for the one that is lost until he finds it? Then when he has found it, he places it on his shoulders, rejoicing. Returning home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, telling them, ‘Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep that was lost.' Joint Sword 2024: China's Anaconda Strategy Against Taiwan and Washington's Persistence in Failed Engagement. Captain James Fanell and Bradley Thayer assert that America must urgently reverse its strategic errors regarding China. Fanell notes that China is currently demonstrating aggression toward Taiwan, announcing two days of "Joint Sword 2024 Alpha" exercises conducted very close to Taiwan, inside the contiguous zone. China is using the recent inauguration speech of Taiwan's new President Lai as the casus belli, claiming his equating Taiwan and China as two separate nations constitutes a move toward independence. Fanell expects the operation to include ballistic missiles fired into closure areas, with China practicing targeting key areas, blockading, and isolating Taiwan. The PRC is employing an "Anaconda strategy," increasing pressure and suffocating Taiwan. Bradley Thayer assesses Washington's response, stating that fundamentally, little has changed despite some rhetorical and policy shifts, as the Biden administration remains influenced by the "engagement school." Thayer attributes the persistence of this flawed framework to the PRC's strategy of "elite capture," spanning Wall Street, the Chamber of Commerce, think tanks, K Street law firms, and Congress.

Benfotiamine, taken four times daily, can help correct this problem. 5. Bleeding gums are related to vitamin C deficiency.6. Chronic cough can be caused by a calcium deficiency or acid coming up the esophagus. 7. Carpal tunnel syndrome is often related to a vitamin B6 deficiency.8. Brittle nails are usually caused by a biotin deficiency. 9. Cold feet and hands signify that you need more iodine.10. Early morning problems such as leg cramps, migraines, and chest pain are related to magnesium deficiency. Take magnesium glycinate before bed as a remedy.11.
