Valerie McDaniels' story of discovering a lump in her breast and delaying medical attention due to a phobia, quickly escalated to a life-or-death struggle. She tells Dorothy Gibbons how a cruise in December 2023 revealed the critical nature of her condition when the mass burst, forcing her to seek urgent care. Ultimately, the support of her family and faith empowered Valerie to confront her fears and undergo the necessary exams and eventual treatments for breast cancer. Key Questions Answered 1. Capitalism is consuming the planet and as it endlessly consumes to satiate its ever-growing appetite, it's taking all life, including you and I, to a rather gloomy conclusion. Writing on "Meditations" - Journal of the Marxist Literary Group - Jodi Dean says: "Many associate Fredric Jameson's remark, “It's easier to imagine an end to the world than an end to capitalism” with Mark Fisher. For good reason: Fisher's account of capitalist realism confronts us with capitalism's unbearable yet unavoidable horrors. From the genocidal destruction of settler colonialism, through the demolition of cultures and modes of life that accompanies commodity production and exchange, to planet-altering anthropogenic climate change, capital subsumes the world. We can easily imagine an end to the world because under capitalism most of us confront it every day as we are forced to choose our exploitation, dispossession, and confinement. It's easier to imagine an end to the world than an end to capitalism because capitalism is the end of the world. We witness and endure it in the ruins of everyday life—lost lives, lives of loss." The Church in Africa needs to urgently address Liturgical Abuses according to African Liturgist, Sr Dr Leonida Katunge

Liturgical abuses are becoming more disturbing in many churches in Africa. This is the conclusion of Sr Leonida Katunge who speaks on why some strange rituals and practices invented by some priests in the Catholic liturgy are liturgical abuses that need to be stamped out immediately in Africa. But in order for this to happen, there is the need, she argues, to deepen liturgical formation for priests and other pastoral agents. In addition, there is the need to deepen the faith of the People of God and to address some of the root causes of liturgical abuses and the blind and uncritical adoption of practices from the Pentecostal churches and aspects of African traditional religions. Sr Katunge shows us how to address these liturgical abuses, and improve the quality, beauty, and solemnity of our liturgical worship in Africa.

Unjustified denial of bail and continuous postponement of related hearings are a serious threat to individual liberty. Bail is a critical component of the criminal justice system, so decisions about it should aim to harmonise protection of individual liberties with the demands of justice. The Supreme Court has in the past issued directives to ensure ‘bail, not jail' as a guiding principle. However, this is not practised consistently by courts. So, India needs comprehensive bail reform that does not leave out disadvantaged groups. Please listen to the latest episode of All Indians Matter.

There are generations of Christians that have devoted their minds and lives to getting the message of the Gospel to people. Which is great…. but this is the reality - Tools don't mean anything if we don't share them. Our prayer is that this message of the kingdom would ignite urgency and fire in our generation to share the Gospel often and with passion. 5 reasons we must urgently share the message of the Kingdom. Reason 1 - It is Plan A for the Kingdom. Reason 2 - It is Good News. Reason 3 - It is a war for the soul. Reason 4 - It is our mission for every person to hear. Reason 5 - It is the power of God. "8 And he entered the synagogue and for three months spoke boldly, reasoning and persuading them about the kingdom of God. 9 But when some became stubborn and continued in unbelief, speaking evil of the Way before the congregation, he withdrew from them and took the disciples with him, reasoning daily in the hall of Tyrannus. 10 This continued for two years, so that all the residents of Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks. The Sons of Sceva 11 And God was doing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, 12 so that even handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were carried away to the sick, and their diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them." Claims Domestic Violence Register Urgently Needed In Clare

It's claimed a database is urgently needed in Clare and the MidWest to warn of offenders with a history of domestic and gender-based violence living in the area. It comes as three separate motions are set come before the July meeting of Clare County Council this afternoon, calling on the local authority to declare it's support for Limerick assault victim Natasha O'Brien. Natasha O'Brien was beaten by Clare soldier Cathal Crotty in an unprovoked assault as she was making her way from work in Limerick City in May 2022. Last month, Crotty received a fully suspended sentence, although the DPP has now appealed the ruling on grounds of 'undue leniency', the decision had already sparked nationwide demonstrations and outrage. Amid the storm of national frustration, Fianna Fáil Senator Fiona O'Loughlin is now calling for her legislation that would aim to establish a domestic violence register to proceed to committee stage within the Seanad as soon as possible. The Sex Offenders Coercive Control Bill 2023 would allow any person entering an intimate relationship to access information on any convictions their partner may have. Clare Haven Director of Services Dr Siobhán O'Connor says the system is urgently needed here. In the year to April, the number of domestic incidents reported to Clare Gardaí jumped by 9%. Executive Director of Rape Crisis Midwest, Siobhán O'Leary says believes introducing such a database would prevent more offences taking place and would spare women the traumatic ordeal of the judicial process.

Here is what I think, while many things could seem urgent, what actually becomes consistently urgent is whatever we think will brings us life and is missing. In other words, urgency is defined by hunger. Urgency happens when we lack something which we believe will bring us life.  I could talk all day about how to get into the Word. I could talk to you about learning from a Biblical mentor and developing a Biblical core. We could talk about resources like "How to Study the Bible for All It's Worth" and commentaries that open up someof those hard passages. But honestly, knowing how to get into the Word is less  important than wanting to get into the Word.  See here's what I know... if hungry people can find food, hungry people will eat. ONCE MORE URGENTLY NEEDING A GLOBAL NAVY: 1/4: Vectors: Heroes, Villains, and Heartbreak on the Bridge of the U.S. Navy Hardcover –  Thomas B. Modly  (Author) https://www.amazon.com/Vectors-Heroes-Villains-Heartbreak-Bridge/dp/1642257036 Thomas Modly had an eclectic career in the military, academia, business, and government when he answered the call to service in 2017 and returned to the Navy where his career began. His experience, as chronicled in these pages, tells the story of Secretary Modly's quest to advance the Department of the Navy's preparedness for the challenges of this century. As Acting Secretary of the Navy he held fast to the mantra of “acting, not pretending,” and thus advocated aggressively for the Navy and Marine Corps' future ― a future he believed would be defined by uncertainty and unpredictability. Every Friday he wrote a personal message to the entire Department regardless of rank. Those messages were called SECNAV Vectors. Each Vector was intended to clearly communicate his priorities and to establish a rapport with all levels of the organization. The subject of each Vector was inspired by real events that occurred in real time. As these events unfolded , the Secretary's unyielding emphasis on being prepared for unpredictable events are proven to be prescient as the Navy found itself, unintentionally, in the center of COVID-19 crisis 1938 IMPERIAL JAPANESE NAVY, INCLUDING AKAGI.
