A Wartime Walkie-Talkie #RTTBROS #Nightlight"Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints." — Ephesians 6:18You know, John Piper said something years ago that I haven't been able to shake loose. He said that prayer is a wartime walkie-talkie, not a domestic intercom to ring up the butler and ask for another pillow. When I first heard that, it stopped me cold. Because if I'm honest, I have to admit that a whole lot of my praying has looked a lot more like the intercom than the walkie-talkie.Think about that image for a minute. A walkie-talkie on the battlefield is urgent. It's essential. A soldier doesn't pick up that radio and say, "Hey, while you've got a minute, could you make things a little more comfortable back here?" No. He keys that mic because he's in a fight, because the situation is serious, because he needs firepower and he needs it now. There's no casual tone on a battlefield radio. There's urgency. There's purpose. But so many of us, and I include myself here, because I'm too soon old and too late smart on this one, we've wandered away from that battlefield mentality. We treat prayer like a nice spiritual habit, something we do before meals and at bedtime. A gentle, civilized little routine. And then we wonder why our prayers feel thin, why heaven seems quiet, why nothing seems to be happening. Here's the thing. Paul didn't write Ephesians 6:18 from a comfortable study. He wrote it as a prisoner, in a real spiritual battle, surrounded by the full armor of God language, describing a real enemy. And right in the middle of all that armor, right after the sword of the Spirit, he says, "Praying always." Not "praying occasionally when things get rough." Always. Urgently. With all perseverance. The reason prayer malfunctions for so many of us is that we've forgotten we're at war. We've gotten comfortable. We've pulled back from the front lines, and we're trying to use a battlefield radio to order room service.Friend, history is just HIS story, and right now you have a role in it. You are on assignment. You have been given direct access to the General's headquarters. Use it. Pick up that walkie-talkie today, not to ask for more comfort, but to ask for strength, for wisdom, for the lost souls around you, for His kingdom to advance in this dark old world. That's what prayer was made for.Let's pray: Father, forgive us for treating prayer like a convenience and not a lifeline. We are in a battle whether we feel it or not. Tune our hearts to Your frequency today, and make our prayers urgent, faithful, and kingdom-focused. In Jesus' name, Amen.#Prayer #SpiritualWarfare #ChristianLiving #DailyDevotion #Faith #BiblicalWisdom #EphesiansArmor #RTTBROS #Nightlight

Pet Refuge is urgently appealing for donations, and bracing for demand to surge over Christmas. The charity is receiving daily pleas for help from people escaping family violence - and is currently caring for 29 pets. Founder Dame Julie Chapman told Andrew Dickens that more than half of women delay leaving family violence - because they're scared to leave pets behind. She says the charity takes pets in for up to four months and covers all costs, while people rebuild their lives in emergency housing or women's refuge. https://www.petrefuge.org.nz/ LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Joint Sword 2024: China's Anaconda Strategy Against Taiwan and Washington's Persistence in Failed Engagement. Captain James Fanell and Bradley Thayer assert that America must urgently reverse its strategic errors regarding China. Fanell notes that China is currently demonstrating aggression toward Taiwan, announcing two days of "Joint Sword 2024 Alpha" exercises conducted very close to Taiwan, inside the contiguous zone. China is using the recent inauguration speech of Taiwan's new President Lai as the casus belli, claiming his equating Taiwan and China as two separate nations constitutes a move toward independence. Fanell expects the operation to include ballistic missiles fired into closure areas, with China practicing targeting key areas, blockading, and isolating Taiwan. The PRC is employing an "Anaconda strategy," increasing pressure and suffocating Taiwan. Bradley Thayer assesses Washington's response, stating that fundamentally, little has changed despite some rhetorical and policy shifts, as the Biden administration remains influenced by the "engagement school." Thayer attributes the persistence of this flawed framework to the PRC's strategy of "elite capture," spanning Wall Street, the Chamber of Commerce, think tanks, K Street law firms, and Congress.

The eye care industry is facing a critical moment. Across the country, patients are struggling to access timely vision and medical eye care due to a growing imbalance between provider supply and patient demand. This disparity underscores a truth that can no longer be ignored: we need more optometrists. With a shrinking number of ophthalmologists and rising healthcare needs of an aging population, optometrists are increasingly vital in bridging the gap and improving access to care.

The Clare Immigrant Support Network says new migration reforms approved by Government today are urgently needed to resolve issues with the International Protection system. The new laws which are part of the EU migration pact, will come into effect next July and will see mandatory three-month deadlines for processing applications. Additionally immigration officers will be given power to enforce deportations without ministerial sign off. Clare Immigrant Support Network Chair Eoin Tynan O'Mahony has been telling Clare FM's Daragh Dolan that despite some concerns, overall the reforms are positive.
Send me a Text Message! We've all felt the emotion of urgency, right? That sense that smthng needs to be done right now. Somethings gotta change. Can't wait. It's urgent. Sometimes we get confused about the difference between what's important and what's urgent. We often hear people say, something like this, "Sometimes we get so wrapped up in what's urgent that we have no time for what's important." But what that really means is that we have mislabeled what's important. The dictionary defines urgency as something of importance requiring swift action. In other words, urgency is a subset of what's important. It can't be urgent, if it's not important.Any number of issues in our world today could cause a sense of urgency. But I think Jesus is suggesting in this episode that nothing is more important or urgent than love. So let's love urgently!

Send me a Text Message! The story of Jonah inspires me to believe that we're living in days of expectancy and it's time to call urgently on God. How urgent do you feel about making space for God? Is it, more of a "well that would be nice." Or is it more like air? "Without it, I ain't gonna make it?" With fasting and prayer, Nineveh urgently called upon God. And we find later in Jonah's story that, filled with compassion and grace; God responded with a city-wide fast and one of the greatest revivals in history took place in one of the most wicked cities in history. What's the big deal about fasting? Fasting is a way of saying, "I'm taking this serious. This isn't a game. I'm coming with intensity and urgency and humility. I'm coming in repentance. I'm coming with desperation. I'm asking you to break my heart for the things that break your heart. I'm urgently asking for a move of your Spirit in our region!
