Saudi traditional music from Jeddah reimagined by Cities and Memory. For this, I wanted to convey something of the mesmerising aspect of the original track, which had me interested in the first minute, but by the ninth locked into the groove of the drums and singing. A locked-groove of a drum sample with a lo-pass filter is the rhythmic undercurrent, over which a simple two-note synth line generates head-nodding familiarity. The drones are created by layer upon layer of effected sitar and tanbura, with snippets of both the original song's "welcome, welcome" refrain and some inserted synthesised singing, spaced at exact intervals, again to lock the groove in place throughout the duration of the track.

Sacred Space at Home Week 20 (November 25th) Welcome: Welcome to Sacred Space at Home, a resource from Vineyard Church of New Orleans! We’re so glad you have decided to join us in this time of worship and reflection. Today we will meditate on Acts Chapter 28. Wherever you may find yourself in this moment, try and make space to listen and experience the presence of God as we pray, hear the words of scripture, and sing together. As we begin, we open our minds and hearts and say, “Come, Holy Spirit.” Song of Surrender I Surrender All by Judson Wheeler Van DeVenter | Winfield Scott Weeden All to Jesus I surrender All to Him I freely give I will ever love and trust Him In His presence daily live I surrender all I surrender all All to Thee my blessed Savior I surrender all All to Jesus I surrender Make me Savior wholly Thine Let me feel the Holy Spirit Truly know that Thou art mine All to Jesus I surrender Lord I give myself to Thee Fill me with Thy love and power Let Thy blessing fall on me Scripture Reading (Acts 28:14b-16; 30-31) NRSV) “A reading from the Book of Acts…” “And so we came to Rome… The believers from there, when they heard of us, came as far as the Forum of Appius and Three Taverns to meet us. On seeing them, Paul thanked God and took courage. When we came into Rome, Paul was allowed to live by himself, with the soldier who was guarding him. He lived there for two whole years at his own expense and welcomed all who came to him, proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance.” This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God! Reflection We’ve finally reached the end of the book of Acts. A book that’s had a little of everything. From the ascension of Jesus to the arrival of the Holy Spirit, great preaching, martyrdom, miracles, visions, and barriers of race and gender knocked down. We’ve seen great friendships develop as well and conflict and relationships broken. We’ve had miraculous escapes from jails, beatings, whippings and stoning. We’ve seen audiences before kings and philosophers and theologians, as well as ordinary folks like you and me. And what seems like the climax of the story, to me anyway, we see Paul survive a hurricane and shipwreck and finally make his way, albeit as a prisoner, to Rome. At first the ending seems anticlimactic, with lots of unanswered questions. Did Paul ever speak to Caesar? Did he make his case or was he found guilty and executed? Why does Luke leave us hanging with the story unfinished? All he tells us in Acts 28:30-31 is that Paul lived in Rome for 2 years welcoming visitors and “proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance”. That’s how the story ends? It seems like it ends with kind of a whimper… But if you think about it though, maybe it’s Paul’s story that ends here at the conclusion of the book of Acts; no, we don’t really know what happened to him from Luke’s concluding words. But, while his part in this account may essentially be over, the story itself isn’t over. In fact, it’s really just beginning. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the apostles and followers of Jesus kicked off this new thing called the Kingdom of God. Paul has done his part, and the succeeding generations have done their part. If we refer back to Acts 1:8 it says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem (check), in all of Judea and Samaria (check and check), and to the ends of the earth” (still working on it). And now is the time for us, the church of this generation, to fulfill our part! Now is the time for this generation to carry forth the message that Jesus is King! The Kingdom of God is here; maybe not completely yet, but the story of Jesus must still be told! And the Kingdom of God must still be seen! It’s our turn; it’s our time to write our chapter in the story. We, the kingdom people of this generation, this church, you and me. It’s up to us to share the Good News of the Kingdom of God! The story is not over… Questions 1. As you reflect on this passage, what comes to mind? Notice what thoughts or emotions may arise in you. 2. Paul appears to spend the remainder of his life in Rome, proclaiming the good news of Jesus and the kingdom of God with boldness. What might it look like for you to embody that same boldness in the world today? 3. Though the Book of Acts tells the story of the early Church and Paul’s missionary journeys, its conclusion is not the end of the story. Take a moment to consider the role you might play in God’s narrative of bringing the good news of Jesus to “the ends of the Earth.” 4. Take this time to ask God to give you courage to embody the Good News of Jesus everywhere you go. I Surrender All (Reprise) Benediction “As we conclude our time together, may you continue to be aware of the presence of God and seek to find sacred spaces throughout the day.” Let us pray. “Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, Who, though he was in the form of God Did not regard equality with God As something to be exploited, But emptied himself, Taking the form of a slave, Being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, He humbled himself And became obedient to the point of death, Even death on a cross. Therefore, god also highly exalted him And gave him the name that is above every name, So that at the name of Jesus Every knee should bend, In heaven and on earth and under the earth, And every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord To the glory of God the Father”. Amen. Philippians 2:5-11

Sacred Space at Home Week 19 (November 18th) Welcome: Welcome to Sacred Space at Home, a resource from Vineyard Church of New Orleans! We’re so glad you have decided to join us in this time of worship and reflection. Today we will meditate on Acts Chapter 27. Wherever you may find yourself in this moment, try and make space to listen and experience the presence of God as we pray, hear the words of scripture, and sing together. As we begin, we open our minds and hearts and say, “Come, Holy Spirit.” Song of Provision He Knows My Name by Tommy Walker I have a Maker He formed my heart Before even time began My life was in his hands He knows my name He knows my every thought He sees each tear that falls And He hears me when I call I have a Father I have a Father He calls me His own He'll never leave me No matter where I go Scripture Reading (Acts 27 NLT) “A reading from the Book of Acts…” When the time came, we set sail for Italy. Paul and several other prisoners were placed in the custody of a Roman officer[a] named Julius, a captain of the Imperial Regiment. The weather was becoming dangerous for sea travel because it was so late in the fall,[c] and Paul spoke to the ship’s officers about it. 10 “Men,” he said, “I believe there is trouble ahead if we go on—shipwreck, loss of cargo, and danger to our lives as well.” 11 But the officer in charge of the prisoners listened more to the ship’s captain and the owner than to Paul. 13 When a light wind began blowing from the south, the sailors thought they could make it. So they pulled up anchor and sailed close to the shore of Crete. 14 But the weather changed abruptly, and a wind of typhoon strength (called a “northeaster”) burst across the island and blew us out to sea. 15 The sailors couldn’t turn the ship into the wind, so they gave up and let it run before the gale. The next day, as gale-force winds continued to batter the ship, the crew began throwing the cargo overboard. 19 The following day they even took some of the ship’s gear and threw it overboard. 20 The terrible storm raged for many days, blotting out the sun and the stars, until at last all hope was gone. 21 No one had eaten for a long time. Finally, Paul called the crew together and said, “Men, you should have listened to me in the first place and not left Crete. You would have avoided all this damage and loss. 22 But take courage! None of you will lose your lives, even though the ship will go down. 23 For last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me, 24 and he said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul, for you will surely stand trial before Caesar! What’s more, God in his goodness has granted safety to everyone sailing with you.’ 25 So take courage! For I believe God. It will be just as he said. 26 But we will be shipwrecked on an island.” This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God! Questions 1. As you reflect on this passage, what comes to mind? Notice what thoughts or emotions may arise in you. 2. Though Paul warns of trouble and a potential shipwreck, the officer continues to push forward. Can you recall a time in which you pushed forward, neglected wise counsel, and ultimately found yourself shipwrecked? 3. Sometimes it takes a shipwreck, a significant loss, or personal failure to change course and move toward healing and wholeness. The Spirit of God, present with us throughout the storm, invites us to allow the ship to go down. What might it look like for you to let go and make the first step toward healing and wholeness in this moment? 4. As you reflect on this invitation, take this time to ask God to give you awareness to discern God’s presence in the midst of whatever storm you may be facing today. He Knows My Name (Reprise) Benediction “As we conclude our time together, may you continue to be aware of the presence of God and seek to find sacred spaces throughout the day.” Let us pray. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.”
Sacred Space at Home Week 17 (November 4th) Welcome: Welcome to Sacred Space at Home, a resource from Vineyard Church of New Orleans! We’re so glad you have decided to join us in this time of worship and reflection. Today we will meditate on Acts Chapter 24. Wherever you may find yourself in this moment, try and make space to listen and experience the presence of God as we pray, hear the words of scripture, and sing together. As we begin, we open our minds and hearts and say, “Come, Holy Spirit.” Song of Trust Psalm 62 by Aaron Keyes My soul finds rest in God alone My rock and my salvation A fortress strong against my foes And I will not be shaken Though lips may bless and hearts may curse And lies like arrows pierce me I'll fix my heart on righteousness I'll look to Him who hears me O praise Him hallelujah My Delight and my Reward Everlasting never failing My Redeemer my God Find rest my soul in God alone Amid the world's temptations When evil seeks to take a hold I'll cling to my salvation Though riches come and riches go Don't set your heart upon them The fields of hope in which I sow Are harvested in heaven I'll set my gaze on God alone And trust in Him completely With ev'ry day pour out my soul And He will prove His mercy Though life is but a fleeting breath A sigh too brief to measure My King has crushed the curse of death And I am His forever O praise Him O praise Him Hallelujah hallelujah O praise Him O praise Him Hallelujah Hallelujah O praise Him O praise Him Hallelujah hallelujah Scripture Reading (Acts 24:10-16 NIV) “A reading from the Book of Acts…” 10 When the governor motioned for him to speak, Paul replied: “I know that for a number of years you have been a judge over this nation; so, I gladly make my defense. 11 You can easily verify that no more than twelve days ago I went up to Jerusalem to worship. 12 My accusers did not find me arguing with anyone at the temple or stirring up a crowd in the synagogues or anywhere else in the city.13 And they cannot prove to you the charges they are now making against me. 14 However, I admit that I worship the God of our ancestors as a follower of the Way, which they call a sect. I believe everything that is in accordance with the Law and that is written in the Prophets, 15 and I have the same hope in God as these men themselves have, that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked. 16 So I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man. Reflection At this point in the story, Paul is arrested in Jerusalem and transferred to Caesarea to stand trial before the Roman governor Felix. Paul is falsely accused by a group of Jews for blasphemy and inciting crowds of Jews. Paul will spend the next several years as a prisoner of the Romans; ultimately being transferred to Rome where he is to be executed. Acts 23:11 states, 11 the following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, “Take courage! As you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify of me in Rome.” Paul was taken by force and was being held by Roman soldiers when Jesus spoke to him. This was a very difficult situation. Notice Jesus didn’t say, be happy, cheerful, or relaxed…but take courage. The reason Paul could take courage was because Jesus was near him throughout the ordeal. While Paul identified the source of the accusations, he realized he didn’t need to attack his accusers to defend himself and was able to maintain his integrity by focusing primarily on his actions. By focusing on the truth and not looking for retribution, Paul was vindicated before the court, even though he was still transferred from Caesarea to Rome. It was through this trial that Paul was able to testify about Christ in Rome, which led Paul to write these words, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him.” Paul did not say all things are good, but that because God was near, he could trust God through the trial. Questions 1. As you reflect on this passage, what comes to mind? Notice what thoughts or emotions may arise in you. 2. Consider a time you were falsely accused or unjustly criticized. How did you react to your accusers? Were you aware of the presence of God in the midst of this situation? 3. Instead of being combative or defensive, Paul chooses to maintain his integrity by trusting that God was present with him and would be his advocate. How might the Spirit be inviting you into deeper trust in this moment? 4. As you reflect on this invitation, take time to ask God to give you the courage to trust that no matter what trial you may face, ALL things work for the good of those who love God! Psalm 62 (Reprise) Benediction “As we conclude our time together, may you continue to be aware of the presence of God and seek to find sacred spaces throughout the day.” Let us pray.
Today we will meditate on Acts Chapter 22. Wherever you may find yourself in this moment, try and make space to listen and experience the presence of God as we pray, hear the words of scripture, and sing together. As we begin, we open our minds and hearts and say, “Come, Holy Spirit.” Song of Provision My Shepherd Will Supply My Need by Isaac Watts My shepherd will supply my need Jehovah is his name In pastures fresh he makes me feed Beside the living stream He brings my wandering spirit back When I forsake his ways And leads me for his mercy's sake In paths of truth and grace When I walk through the shades of death Thy presence is my stay A word of thy supporting breath Drives all my fears away Thy hand in sight of all my foes Doth still my table spread My cup with blessings overflows Thine oil anoints my head The sure provisions of my God Attend me all my days O may thy house be mine abode And all my work be praise There would I find a settled rest While others go and come No more a stranger or a guest But as a child at home Scripture Reading (Acts 22:6-23 NLT) “A reading from the Book of Acts…” 6 “As I was on the road, approaching Damascus about noon, a very bright light from heaven suddenly shone down around me. 7 I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’ 8 “‘Who are you, lord?’ I asked. “And the voice replied, ‘I am Jesus the Nazarene,[b] the one you are persecuting.’ 9 The people with me saw the light but didn’t understand the voice speaking to me. 10 “I asked, ‘What should I do, Lord?’ “And the Lord told me, ‘Get up and go into Damascus, and there you will be told everything you are to do.’ 11 “I was blinded by the intense light and had to be led by the hand to Damascus by my companions. 12 A man named Ananias lived there. He was a godly man, deeply devoted to the law, and well regarded by all the Jews of Damascus. 13 He came and stood beside me and said, ‘Brother Saul, regain your sight.’ And that very moment I could see him! 14 “Then he told me, ‘The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will and to see the Righteous One and hear him speak.15 For you are to be his witness, telling everyone what you have seen and heard. 16 What are you waiting for? Get up and be baptized. Have your sins washed away by calling on the name of the Lord.’ 17 “After I returned to Jerusalem, I was praying in the Temple and fell into a trance. 18 I saw a vision of Jesus[c] saying to me, ‘Hurry! Leave Jerusalem, for the people here won’t accept your testimony about me.’ 19 “‘But Lord,’ I argued, ‘they certainly know that in every synagogue I imprisoned and beat those who believed in you. 20 And I was in complete agreement when your witness Stephen was killed. I stood by and kept the coats they took off when they stoned him.’ 21 “But the Lord said to me, ‘Go, for I will send you far away to the Gentiles!’” 22 The crowd listened until Paul said that word. Then they all began to shout, “Away with such a fellow! He isn’t fit to live!” 23 They yelled, threw off their coats, and tossed handfuls of dust into the air. Questions 1. As you reflect on this passage, what comes to mind? Notice what thoughts or emotions may arise in you. 2. Paul’s entire life bore witness to the Good News of Jesus and yet, in spite of Paul’s reputation and testimony Paul was still rejected in Jerusalem. When have you experienced rejection in your own life? How was God present with you in the midst of rejection or failure? 3. In a vision of Jesus, Paul is redirected from Jerusalem, to the world of the Gentiles. It is often in moments of rejection and confusion that the voice of God redirects our path and invites us into deeper trust. Can you recall a time in which God redirected you toward something new or unfamiliar? How might the Spirit be inviting you into deeper trust in this moment? 4. As you reflect on this invitation, take this time to ask God to give you the wisdom to discern how the Spirit may be guiding and directing you today. Turn (Reprise) Benediction “As we conclude our time together, may you continue to be aware of the presence of God and seek to find sacred spaces throughout the day.” Let us pray. Amen.”
Sacred Space at Home Week 16 (October 28th) Welcome: Welcome to Sacred Space at Home, a resource from Vineyard Church of New Orleans! We’re so glad you have decided to join us in this time of worship and reflection. Today we will meditate on Acts Chapter 20. Wherever you may find yourself in this moment, try and make space to listen and experience the presence of God as we pray, hear the words of scripture, and sing together. As we begin, we open our minds and hearts and say, “Come, Holy Spirit.” Song of Repentance Turn by Ethan Asters As a flower in the sun reaches out to light Spreading every arm soaking in new life Breathing free again opening the self To the source of love to turn is to be healed It’s not the pattern That I’m leaving Not the cycle or the rules It’s the object Of the turning That is able to renew It’s the path of all creation Turning out restores within Jesus help me in this moment now to turn to you again As the body longs to rest and drift to sleep’s unknown Mind and heart consent rejuvenation flows Breathing free again willingly controlled By the source of love that teaches to let go I turn to You Scripture Reading (Acts 20 NLT) “A reading from the Book of Acts…” 18 When they arrived he declared, “You know that from the day I set foot in the province of Asia until now 19 I have done the Lord’s work humbly and with many tears. I have endured the trials that came to me from the plots of the Jews. 20 I never shrank back from telling you what you needed to hear, either publicly or in your homes. 21 I have had one message for Jews and Greeks alike—the necessity of repenting from sin and turning to God, and of having faith in our Lord Jesus. 22 “And now I am bound by the Spirit[f] to go to Jerusalem. I don’t know what awaits me, 23 except that the Holy Spirit tells me in city after city that jail and suffering lie ahead. 24 But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Questions 1. As you reflect on this passage, what comes to mind? Notice what thoughts or emotions may arise in you. 2. Paul’s commitment to the work of sharing the Good News involved a willingness to endure hardship, pain, rejection, and ultimately death so that others may experience the “wonderful grace of God” revealed in Jesus. How might you display similar resolve as you do the work of sharing the Good News today? 3. As a messenger of the Good News, we must always participate in the act of selfexamination. It is through this practice that we can identify areas in our lives that require repentance. Take a moment to reflect and consider what it might look like for you to repent and turn to God? 4. As you reflect on this invitation, take this time to ask God to give you the courage to repent and turn to God so that you may live and proclaim the Good News today. Turn (Reprise) Benediction “As we conclude our time together, may you continue to be aware of the presence of God and seek to find sacred spaces throughout the day.” Let us pray. Amen.”
Sacred Space at Home Week 15 (October 21st) Welcome: Welcome to Sacred Space at Home, a resource from Vineyard Church of New Orleans! We’re so glad you have decided to join us in this time of worship and reflection. Today we will meditate on Acts Chapter 19. Wherever you may find yourself in this moment, try and make space to listen and experience the presence of God as we pray, hear the words of scripture, and sing together. As we begin, we open our minds and hearts and say, “Come, Holy Spirit.” Song of Surrender Give Us Clean Hands by Charlie Hall We bow our hearts, we bend our knees Oh Spirit come make us humble We turn our eyes from evil things Oh Lord we cast down our idols Give us clean hands, and give us pure hearts Let us not lift our souls to another Give us clean hands, give us pure hearts Let us not lift our souls to another Oh God let us be a generation that seeks Who seeks your face oh God of Jacob Oh God let us be a generation that seeks Who seeks your face oh God of Jacob Scripture Reading (Acts 17 NIV) “A reading from the Book of Acts…” 8 Paul entered the synagogue and spoke boldly there for three months, arguing persuasively about the kingdom of God. 9 But some of them became obstinate; they refused to believe and publicly maligned the Way. So Paul left them. He took the disciples with him and had discussions daily in the lecture hall of Tyrannus. 10 This went on for two years, so that all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord. 23 About that time there arose a great disturbance about the Way. 24 A silversmith named Demetrius, who made silver shrines of Artemis, brought in a lot of business for the craftsmen there. 25 He called them together, along with the workers in related trades, and said: “You know, my friends, that we receive a good income from this business. 26 And you see and hear how this fellow Paul has convinced and led astray large numbers of people here in Ephesus and in practically the whole province of Asia. He says that gods made by human hands are no gods at all. 27 There is danger not only that our trade will lose its good name, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be discredited; and the goddess herself, who is worshiped throughout the province of Asia and the world, will be robbed of her divine majesty.” This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Questions 1. As you reflect on this passage, what comes to mind? Notice what thoughts or emotions may arise in you. 2. In his speech, Demetrius appeals to the crowd’s finances, national pride, and religious tradition as he attempts to discredit Paul and the message of Jesus. Can you think of a time in your own life that the message of Jesus created conflict with your ideas about money, nationalism, or faith? 3. Idols come in all shapes and sizes, manifesting in different aspects of our lives. Take a moment and consider what idols you may be holding onto. What might it look like for you to let go, and cling to God in this moment? 4. As you reflect on this invitation, take this time to ask God to give you the courage to trust and be transformed by the Spirit today. Give Us Clean Hands (Reprise) Benediction “As we conclude our time together, may you continue to be aware of the presence of God and seek to find sacred spaces throughout the day.” Let us pray. As we begin, we open our minds and hearts and say, “Come, Holy Spirit.” Song of Awareness In All Things by Ethan Asters In breaking of the dawn In whispers of the breeze Through echoes of the rain Or tender birds that sing On waves that touch the shore On rolling hills that rise To find God in all things Is to be alive Upon the busy streets Upon the city lights Within the passing smile Or by mundane delight In comfort from a friend In lovers glistening eyes To find God in all things Is to be alive Christ in every thing God revealing Perfect love that all receive Christ in every thing God within me Giving life for all to see In stillness of the soul In clarity of mind When scattered as the leaves That fall in winter’s time In fear of the unknown In peace that calms the night To find God in all things Is to be alive Through labor of the hands Through every work and toil When barriers persist Or there is fertile soil In every task ahead In what is left behind To find God in all things Is to be alive Scripture Reading (Acts 17 NIV) “A reading from the Book of Acts…” 22 Then Paul stood in front of the Areopagus and said, “Athenians, I see how extremely religious you are in every way. 23 For as I went through the city and looked carefully at the objects of your worship, I found among them an altar with the inscription, ‘To an unknown god.’ What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you. 24 The God who made the world and everything in it, he who is Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in shrines made by human hands, 25 nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mortals life and breath and all things. 26 From one ancestor he made all nations to inhabit the whole earth, and he allotted the times of their existence and the boundaries of the places where they would live, 27 so that they would search for God and perhaps grope for him and find him—though indeed he is not far from each one of us. 28 For ‘In him we live and move and have our being…” This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Instrumental Music Begins Questions 1. As you reflect on this passage, what comes to mind? Notice what thoughts or emotions may arise in you. 2. Paul uses this opportunity to proclaim that the “unknown,” “distant” God of the Athenians has been made known in the person of Jesus. Through the incarnation, God draws close to us and reveals himself as Emmanuel, “God-With-Us.” Think back on your own experience of God…how has God been present with you? 3. In God we, “Live, move, and have our being.” To do so, we must be aware of God’s presence in all things. With the help of the Spirit to guide you, what might it look like for you to embody that reality? 4. As you reflect on this invitation, take moment to ask God for the awareness to live, move, and have your being in God today. In All Things (Reprise) Benediction “As we conclude our time together, may you continue to be aware of the presence of God and seek to find sacred spaces throughout the day.” Let us pray. Amen.”
Sacred Space at Home Week 13 (October 7th) Welcome: Welcome to Sacred Space at Home, a resource from Vineyard Church of New Orleans! We’re so glad you have decided to join us in this time of worship and reflection. Today we will meditate on Acts Chapter 16. Wherever you may find yourself in this moment, try and make space to listen and experience the presence of God as we pray, hear the words of scripture, and sing together. As we begin, we open our minds and hearts and say, "Come, Holy Spirit.” Song of Trust Wherever He Leads I’ll Go by B. B. McKinney Wherever He leads I'll go Wherever He leads I'll go I'll follow my Christ who loves me so Wherever He leads I'll go Take up thy cross and follow Me I heard my Savior say I gave My life to ransom thee Surrender your all today He drew me closer to His side I sought His will to know And in that will I now abide Wherever He leads I'll go It may be through the shadows dim Or o'er the stormy sea I take my cross and follow Him Wherever He leadeth me My heart my life my all I bring To Christ who loves me so He is my Savior Lord and King Wherever He leads I'll go Scripture Reading (Acts 16 NIV) “A reading from the Book of Acts…” Next Paul and Silas traveled through the area of Phrygia and Galatia, because the Holy Spirit had prevented them from preaching the word in the province of Asia at that time. Then coming to the borders of Mysia, they headed north for the province of Bithynia, but again the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them to go there. So instead, they went on through Mysia to the seaport of Troas. That night Paul had a vision: A man from Macedonia in northern Greece was standing there, pleading with him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us!” So we decided to leave for Macedonia at once, having concluded that God was calling us to preach the Good News there. We boarded a boat at Troas and sailed straight across to the island of Samothrace, and the next day we landed at Neapolis. From there we reached Philippi, a major city of that district of Macedonia and a Roman colony. And we stayed there several days. On the Sabbath we went a little way outside the city to a riverbank, where we thought people would be meeting for prayer, and we sat down to speak with some women who had gathered there. One of them was Lydia from Thyatira, a merchant of expensive purple cloth, who worshiped God. As she listened to us, the Lord opened her heart, and she accepted what Paul was saying. She and her household were baptized, and she asked us to be her guests. “If you agree that I am a true believer in the Lord,” she said, “come and stay at my home.” And she urged us until we agreed.” This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Reflection Paul’s journey started with a roadblock, then a detour 100’s of miles out the way only to be told NOPE, no entry. Then he continued to travel without a set direction-just putting one foot in front of the other. It’s one thing to trust God’s guidance when it’s quite obvious what to do next. It’s something else entirely when you seem to be going on and on with no clear path. Paul, then has a vision of a man with a plea to come to Macedonia. AND HE GOES!!! Paul at once boards a boat and journeys to Macedonia. In following the Spirit, Paul is able the share the good news of God that brings transformation to an entire community. Lydia and her entire household are baptized, and Paul and his travel buddies move in with them. Often the detours and roadblocks feel like failures and setbacks. We can get discouraged and feel like giving up. However, God continues to speak, to guide, and direct us, even when we do not know the destination. A dream, an encounter, a big NO, all can be the Spirit leading. Our Lydia might be around the corner. We just need to open our eyes to what the Spirit is saying and what the Spirit is doing, even in the uncertainties that life gives us. When we don’t know what’s next or what to do….when we find ourselves walking in circles…the Spirit is STILL there leading us. The destination or final result might not be clear but sometimes we just have to take that next step. So whatever you encounter today …whether your road is wide open or you feel like you are stuck in traffic…know the Spirit is there and will walk through the moments of uncertainty and guide your steps. Questions 1. As you reflect on your journey, what roadblock or detours have you encountered? What did you learn about yourself throughout the process? 2. Think back on your experience of God during roadblocks and detours. How was God present with you? Recall how the Spirit guided you in the midst of these circumstances. 3. Roadblocks and detours can be invitations into deeper trust and communion with God. What might it look like for you to trust God more fully as you discern your next steps today? 4. Take a moment to reflect on the roadblocks or detours you are currently experiencing. As you do, ask the Spirit to give you wisdom and the courage to say “yes” to the invitation to trust God in this moment. Wherever He Leads I’ll Go (Reprise) Benediction “As we conclude our time together, may you continue to be aware of the presence of God and seek to find sacred spaces throughout the day.” Let us pray. Amen.”
Sacred Space at Home Week 12 (September 30th) Welcome: Welcome to Sacred Space at Home, a resource from Vineyard Church of New Orleans! We’re so glad you have decided to join us in this time of worship and reflection. Today we will meditate on Acts Chapter 15. Wherever you may find yourself in this moment, try and make space to listen and experience the presence of God as we pray, hear the words of scripture, and sing together. As we begin, we open our minds and hearts and say, “Come, Holy Spirit.” Song of Commitment They’ll Know We Are Christians By Our Love by Peter Scholtes We are one in the Spirit We are one in the Lord We are one in the Spirit We are one in the Lord And we pray that all unity May one day be restored And they’ll know we are Christians By our love by our love Yes they’ll know we are Christians By our love We will walk with each other We will walk hand in hand We will walk with each other We will walk hand in hand And together we’ll spread the news That God is in our land We will work with each other We will work side by side We will work with each other We will work side by side And we’ll guard each man’s dignity And save each man’s pride All praise to the Father From whom all things come And all praise to Christ Jesus His only Son And all praise to the Spirit Who makes us one Scripture Reading (Acts 15 NIV) “A reading from the Book of Acts…” Then certain individuals came down from Judea and were teaching the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.” 2 And after Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and debate with them, Paul and Barnabas and some of the others were appointed to go up to Jerusalem to discuss this question with the apostles and the elders. 3 So they were sent on their way by the church, and as they passed through both Phoenicia and Samaria, they reported the conversion of the Gentiles, and brought great joy to all the believers.[a] 4 When they came to Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church and the apostles and the elders, and they reported all that God had done with them. 5 But some believers who belonged to the sect of the Pharisees stood up and said, “It is necessary for them to be circumcised and ordered to keep the law of Moses.” 6 The apostles and the elders met together to consider this matter. 7 After there had been much debate, Peter stood up and said to them, “My brothers,[b] you know that in the early days God made a choice among you, that I should be the one through whom the Gentiles would hear the message of the good news and become believers. 8 And God, who knows the human heart, testified to them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as he did to us; 9 and in cleansing their hearts by faith he has made no distinction between them and us. 10 Now therefore why are you putting God to the test by placing on the neck of the disciples a yoke that neither our ancestors nor we have been able to bear? 11 On the contrary, we believe that we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they will.” Questions 1. As you reflect on this passage, what comes to mind? Notice what thoughts or emotions may arise in you. 2. Think of a time you had to make a difficult decision. What was this experience like for you and where might God have been with you during the process? 3. To address the problem, Paul and Barnabas consult Peter and the other apostles. It is in the context of relationship and dialogue that the Church is able to discern the leading of the Holy Spirit. What might it look like for you consult your community as you discern where the Spirit may be leading you today? 4. Following the Spirit is difficult and at times unclear. When in doubt of what step to take, explore what paths leads to greater love, compassion, and openness toward yourself, others, and the world. Take a moment to reflect and ask the Spirit to reveal small steps that lead toward greater love and openness in your own life. They’ll Know We Are Christian By Our Love (Reprise) Benediction “As we conclude our time together, may you continue to be aware of the presence of God and seek to find sacred spaces throughout the day.” Let us pray. Amen.”
Sacred Space at Home Week 11 (September 23rd) Welcome: Welcome to Sacred Space at Home, a resource from Vineyard Church of New Orleans! We’re so glad you have decided to join us in this time of worship and reflection. Today we will meditate on Acts Chapter 14. Wherever you may find yourself in this moment, try and make space to listen and experience the presence of God as we pray, hear the words of scripture, and sing together. As we begin, we open our minds and hearts and say, “Come, Holy Spirit.” Song of Awareness Wounded Healer by Audrey Assad Image of the Invisible In our pain we feel you near God of Heaven in flesh and bone By your wounds we shall be healed Wounded healer We give our hearts to you Wounded healer We give our hearts to you Arms stretched out not to part the seas But to open up the grave Blood poured out not for war, but peace And to show us God's own face Wounded healer We give our hearts to you Wounded healer We give our hearts to you No fire, no fury Just death into life Over and over Till all things are right Scripture Reading (Acts 14 NIV) “A reading from the Book of Acts…” 8 In Lystra there sat a man who was lame. He had been that way from birth and had never walked. 9 He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed 10 and called out, “Stand up on your feet!” At that, the man jumped up and began to walk. 11 When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted in the Lycaonian language, “The gods have come down to us in human form!” 12 Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul they called Hermes because he was the chief speaker.13 The priest of Zeus, whose temple was just outside the city, brought bulls and wreaths to the city gates because he and the crowd wanted to offer sacrifices to them. 14 But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of this, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting: 15 “Friends, why are you doing this? We too are only human, like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heavens and the earth and the sea and everything in them. 16 In the past, he let all nations go their own way. 17 Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.” 18 Even with these words, they had difficulty keeping the crowd from sacrificing to them. 19 Then some Jews came from Antioch and Iconium and won the crowd over. They stoned Paul and dragged him outside the city, thinking he was dead. 20 But after the disciples had gathered around him, he got up and went back into the city. The next day he and Barnabas left for Derbe. Questions 1. As you reflect on this passage, what comes to mind? Notice what thoughts or emotions may arise in you. 2. As Paul and Barnabas participate in the kingdom work of God, they are misunderstood and treated as gods, then subjected to persecution and stoning. In spite of this conflict, Paul and Barnabas continue to proclaim the good news of God. What might it look like for YOU to embody the good news of God in the midst of misunderstanding and resistance? 3. The people of Lystra treated Paul and Barnabas as gods out of fear that they would be the recipients of divine wrath and judgement if they were not to do so. Instead of manipulating this misconception about God, Paul and Barnabas point to the God of compassion, kindness, and love revealed in the person of Jesus. What misconceptions about God could you be carrying in your own life? How might the Spirit be inviting you to move past these misconceptions into deeper communion with God? 4. In Colossians Paul refers to Jesus as the image of the invisible God. To understand the Divine, we look at Jesus. Take a moment and be present with Jesus. As you do, consider what it might look like for you to reflect his image in the world today. Wounded Healer (Reprise) Benediction “As we conclude our time together, may you continue to be aware of the presence of God and seek to find sacred spaces throughout the day.” Let us pray. Amen.”
Sacred Space at Home Week 10 (September 16th) Welcome: Welcome to Sacred Space at Home, a resource from Vineyard Church of New Orleans! We’re so glad you have decided to join us in this time of worship and reflection. Today we will meditate on Acts Chapter 12. Wherever you may find yourself in this moment, try and make space to listen and experience the presence of God as we pray, hear the words of scripture, and sing together. As we begin, we open our minds and hearts and say, “Come, Holy Spirit.” Song of Awareness In All Things by Ethan Asters In breaking of the dawn In whispers of the breeze Through echoes of the rain Or tender birds that sing On waves that touch the shore On rolling hills that rise To find God in all things Is to be alive Upon the busy streets Upon the city lights Within the passing smile Or by mundane delight In comfort from a friend In lovers glistening eyes To find God in all things Is to be alive Christ in every thing God revealing Perfect love that all receive Christ in every thing God within me Giving life for all to see In stillness of the soul In clarity of mind When scattered as the leaves That fall in winter’s time In fear of the unknown In peace that calms the night To find God in all things Is to be alive Through labor of the hands Through every work and toil When barriers persist Or there is fertile soil In every task ahead In what is left behind To find God in all things Is to be alive Scripture Reading (Acts 12 NIV) “A reading from the Book of Acts…” It was about this time that King Herod arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them. 2 He had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword.3 When he saw that this met with approval among the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This happened during the Festival of Unleavened Bread. 4 After arresting him, he put him in prison, handing him over to be guarded by four squads of four soldiers each. Herod intended to bring him out for public trial after the Passover. 5 So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. 6 The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. 7 Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists. 8 Then the angel said to him, “Put on your clothes and sandals.” And Peter did so. “Wrap your cloak around you and follow me,” the angel told him. 9 Peter followed him out of the prison, but he had no idea that what the angel was doing was really happening; he thought he was seeing a vision. 10 They passed the first and second guards and came to the iron gate leading to the city. It opened for them by itself, and they went through it. When they had walked the length of one street, suddenly the angel left him. 11 Then Peter came to himself and said, “Now I know without a doubt that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from Herod’s clutches and from everything the Jewish people were hoping would happen.” 12 When this had dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying. 13 Peter knocked at the outer entrance, and a servant named Rhoda came to answer the door. 14 When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, “Peter is at the door!” 15 “You’re out of your mind,” they told her. When she kept insisting that it was so, they said, “It must be his angel.” 16 But Peter kept on knocking, and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished. 17 Peter motioned with his hand for them to be quiet and described how the Lord had brought him out of prison. “Tell James and the other brothers and sisters about this,” he said, and then he left for another place. 18 In the morning, there was no small commotion among the soldiers as to what had become of Peter. 19 After Herod had a thorough search made for him and did not find him, he cross examined the guards and ordered that they be executed… 24 But the word of God continued to spread and flourish. Questions 1. Take a moment to place yourself in this scene with Peter. Imagine his despair, his confusion, his joy. As you do this, notice what thoughts or emotions may arise in you. 2. Now consider your own story. Can you recall a time of despair, uncertainty, or hopelessness in which God was not only present WITH you, but provided FOR you in a miraculous way? 3. When Peter arrived at the house of Mary the Mother of John, the people gathered were astonished. Peter uses this opportunity to share the way in which God freed him from prison. It is by Peter’s testimony that the word of God continued to spread and flourish. How might the Spirit be inviting you to share your story, your testimony, to those around you? 4. There is no circumstance that is too big or too difficult for God. God looks to meet us in EVERY moment and is able to intervene on our behalf. As you reflect, where might you need God’s provision today? Take this time to ask God for the courage to trust and listen to the Spirit today. In All Things (Reprise) Benediction “As we conclude our time together, may you continue to be aware of the presence of God and seek to find sacred spaces throughout the day.” Let us pray. Amen.”
Sacred Space at Home Week 9 (September 9th) Welcome: Welcome to Sacred Space at Home, a resource from Vineyard Church of New Orleans! We’re so glad you have decided to join us in this time of worship and reflection. Today we will meditate on Acts Chapter 11. Wherever you may find yourself in this moment, try and make space to listen and experience the presence of God as we pray, hear the words of scripture, and sing together. As we begin, we open our minds and hearts and say, “Come, Holy Spirit.” Song of Awareness The Table of the Lord by Ethan Asters For the whole and for the broken The doubter and the saved For the innocent and guilty Betrayer and betrayed The Table of the Lord Makes room for all who seek And gives abundant life To those who eat and drink For the poor and for the rich The humble and the proud For the hurt, abused, and privileged The lost and for the found The Table of the Lord Makes space for all who come And offers healing grace By the body and the blood So we come to the table of the Lord Receiving love and hope once more Oh we come to the table of the Lord All are welcome here By Christ’s meal restored For the margins and the middle LGBTQ and straight For oppressed and for oppressor The unmoved and the changed The Table of the Lord Makes all a welcome guest Affirming worth and love Proclaiming all are blessed For the black and brown and white The settled and the strained For the fit and the disabled All may join in the refrain The Table of the Lord Makes hope alive by feast God’s presence here and now For all who will receive Scripture Reading (Acts 11:4-12 NLT) “A reading from the Book of Acts…” ‘Then Peter told them exactly what had happened. “I was in the town of Joppa,” he said, “and while I was praying, I went into a trance and saw a vision. Something like a large sheet was let down by its four corners from the sky. And it came right down to me. When I looked inside the sheet, I saw all sorts of tame and wild animals, reptiles, and birds. And I heard a voice say, ‘Get up, Peter; kill and eat them.’ “‘No, Lord,’ I replied. ‘I have never eaten anything that our Jewish laws have declared impure or unclean. “But the voice from heaven spoke again: ‘Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean.’ This happened three times before the sheet and all it contained was pulled back up to heaven. “Just then three men who had been sent from Caesarea arrived at the house where we were staying. The Holy Spirit told me to go with them and not to worry that they were Gentiles.” (Acts of the Apostles 11:4-12) Reflection Through both Peter’s dream and the subsequent divine introduction to Cornelius, a commander in the Roman Army, God continues to expand the walls of the church and the ultimate manifestation of His Kingdom on earth, as it is in heaven. In this vision, Peter is challenged with what he sees as not only his long-standing religious beliefs, practices, and traditions but also his identity. His decision to abstain from certain unclean foods has been a critical aspect of what has, in the past, set him apart from others outside of his Jewish faith. However, the spirit of God is leading him into something new, afresh and much bigger than anything he could’ve previously imagined. God’s message couldn’t be any clearer; ‘Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean’. Peter recognized right away that this was less about food and more about people as God shows no favoritism. Peter, Cornelius, the apostles and other believers were now experiencing firsthand that God was adjusting the church’s view of who’s in and who’s out while setting the table for a feast where all of humanity is invited to receive. God was challenging Peter to shift his point of view from WHAT is on the menu to WHO is invited to one of the greatest dinner parties of all times. Let us be a people who radically love and include all of our neighbors while embracing an identity that supersedes the boundaries of our worldly views and tribal ties. Let us, together, be transformed and experience His empowering presence in the lives of ALL as we’re cleansed and restored into one united humanity, for the glory of God. Amen Questions God sees infinite worth in all of humanity and calls us ALL into the family of God. How might the Spirit be transforming you to embrace others today? For each of us, there are things we hold onto or defend simply because it’s what we’ve always known. How might the Spirit be inviting you to tear down these barriers and see all people as children of God? Jesus models a life of solidarity, and welcoming love. With this in mind, how might you interact with those who look, think or believe differently than you? Take this time to ask the Spirit to work in and through you as you go about the rest of your day. The Table of the Lord (Reprise) Benediction “As we conclude our time together, may you continue to be aware of the presence of God and seek to find sacred spaces throughout the day.” Let us pray. Amen.”

Sacred Space at Home Week 8 (September 2nd) Welcome: Welcome to Sacred Space at Home, a resource from Vineyard Church of New Orleans! We’re so glad you have decided to join us in this time of worship and reflection. Today we will meditate on Acts Chapter 9. Wherever you may find yourself in this moment, try and make space to listen and experience the presence of God as we pray, hear the words of scripture, and sing together. As we begin, we open our minds and hearts and say, “Come, Holy Spirit.” Song of Reflection Open the Eyes of My Heart w/ Be Thou My Vision by Paul Baloche, Eleanor Henrietta Hull, & Mary Elizabeth Byrne Open the eyes of my heart Lord Open the eyes of my heart I want to see You I want to see You Be Thou my vision O Lord of my heart Naught be all else to me Save that Thou art Thou my best thought By day or by night Waking or sleeping Thy presence my light Be Thou my wisdom Be Thou my true Word I ever with Thee And Thou with me Lord Thou my great Father I Thy true son Thou in me dwelling And I with Thee one Riches I heed not Nor man's empty praise Thou mine inheritance Now and always Thou and Thou only Be first in my heart High King of heaven My treasure Thou art High King of heaven When vict'ry is won May I reach heaven's joys O bright heaven's Sun Heart of my own heart Whatever befall Still be my vision O Ruler of all Scripture Reading (Acts 9:1-18 NLT) “A reading from the Book of Acts…” Meanwhile, Saul was uttering threats with every breath and was eager to kill the Lord’s followers. So he went to the high priest. 2 He requested letters addressed to the synagogues in Damascus, asking for their cooperation in the arrest of any followers of the Way he found there. He wanted to bring them—both men and women—back to Jerusalem in chains. 3 As he was approaching Damascus on this mission, a light from heaven suddenly shone down around him. 4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?” 5 “Who are you, lord?” Saul asked. And the voice replied, “I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting! 6 Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” 7 The men with Saul stood speechless, for they heard the sound of someone’s voice but saw no one! 8 Saul picked himself up off the ground, but when he opened his eyes he was blind. So his companions led him by the hand to Damascus. 9 He remained there blind for three days and did not eat or drink. 10 Now there was a believer in Damascus named Ananias. The Lord spoke to him in a vision, calling, “Ananias!” “Yes, Lord!” he replied. 11 The Lord said, “Go over to Straight Street, to the house of Judas. When you get there, ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul. He is praying to me right now. 12 I have shown him a vision of a man named Ananias coming in and laying hands on him so he can see again.” 13 “But Lord,” exclaimed Ananias, “I’ve heard many people talk about the terrible things this man has done to the believers in Jerusalem! 14 And he is authorized by the leading priests to arrest everyone who calls upon your name.” 15 But the Lord said, “Go, for Saul is my chosen instrument to take my message to the Gentiles and to kings, as well as to the people of Israel.16 And I will show him how much he must suffer for my name’s sake.” 17 So Ananias went and found Saul. He laid his hands on him and said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road, has sent me so that you might regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”18 Instantly something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he got up and was baptized. Questions As you hear this passage, what comes to mind? How does Saul’s experience on the road to Damascus compare to your own experience of Jesus? God chooses to meet us in a variety of ways. Sometimes, like Saul, it is through interruption. At other times, through a still small voice or in loving relationship with another human being. As you reflect, how might God be meeting you in this moment? Paula D’Arcy says, “God comes to us disguised as our life.” God’s desire is to be present with you in the here and now. What might it look like for you to be aware of God’s presence with you as you go about your day? When we encounter Jesus, we are opened to a new reality, transformed into his likeness, and invited to join his movement in the world. Take this time to reflect on the Spirit’s invitation to you today. Open the Eyes of My Heart w/ Be Thou My Vision Benediction “As we conclude our time together, may you continue to be aware of the presence of God and seek to find sacred spaces throughout the day.” Let us pray. Amen.”
Sacred Space at Home Week 7 (August 26th) Welcome: Welcome to Sacred Space at Home, a resource from Vineyard Church of New Orleans! We’re so glad you have decided to join us in this time of worship and reflection. Today we will meditate on Acts Chapter 8. Wherever you may find yourself in this moment, try and make space to listen and experience the presence of God as we pray, hear the words of scripture, and sing together. As we begin, we open our minds and hearts and say, “Come, Holy Spirit.” Song of Reflection All Who Are Thirsty by Brenton Brown All who are thirsty All who are weak Come to the fountain Dip your heart in the stream of life Let the pain and the sorrow Be washed away In the waves of his mercy As deep cries out to deep Come Lord Jesus come Scripture Reading (Acts 8:26-39 NLT) “A reading from the Book of Acts…” 26 As for Philip, an angel of the Lord said to him, “Go south down the desert road that runs from Jerusalem to Gaza.” 27 So he started out, and he met the treasurer of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under the queen of Ethiopia. The eunuch had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28 and he was now returning. Seated in his carriage, he was reading aloud from the book of the prophet Isaiah. 29 The Holy Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and walk along beside the carriage.” 30 Philip ran over and heard the man reading from the prophet Isaiah. Philip asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” 31 The man replied, “How can I, unless someone instructs me?” And he urged Philip to come up into the carriage and sit with him. 32 The passage of Scripture he had been reading was this: “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter. And as a lamb is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. 33 He was humiliated and received no justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth.” 34 The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, was the prophet talking about himself or someone else?” 35 So beginning with this same Scripture, Philip told him the Good News about Jesus. 36 As they rode along, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “Look! There’s some water! Why can’t I be baptized?” 38 He ordered the carriage to stop, and they went down into the water, and Philip baptized him. 39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away. The eunuch never saw him again but went on his way rejoicing. Questions As you hear this passage, what comes to mind? Can you think of a time you experienced the presence of God in an unexpected way? God is moving in ways that are far more inclusive than we ever imagined. In including more and more people into God’s kingdom, God is transforming us to trust deeper, think broader, and love bigger. How might God be transforming you today? In our cultural moment it is second nature to create mental barriers toward the others. The way of Jesus breaks down all barriers with inclusive love. What barriers may exist toward others in your own life? How might Jesus be inviting you to follow him into deeper love and inclusivity? Take this time and ask God to give you the courage to dismantle barriers and open your heart AND hands to embody the love of God today. All Who Are Thirsty (Reprise) Benediction “As we conclude our time together, may you continue to be aware of the presence of God and seek to find sacred spaces throughout the day.” Let us pray. Amen.”
Sacred Space at Home Week 6 (August 19th) Welcome: Welcome to Sacred Space at Home, a resource from Vineyard Church of New Orleans! We’re so glad you have decided to join us in this time of worship and reflection. Today we will meditate on Acts Chapters 6 & 7. Wherever you may find yourself in this moment, try and make space to listen and experience the presence of God as we pray, hear the words of scripture, and sing together. As we begin, we open our minds and hearts and say, “Come, Holy Spirit.” Song of Awareness Teach Me To Die by Ethan Asters Teach me to die That I may live Help me to trust And freely give All of my life That all may be one United in Christ In service to love The ladder of power The seeking of fame The building of wealth Will never sustain So help me renounce The things I hold dear To die to myself And trust you are near The wielding of power The culture of fame The storing of wealth Will only decay So here I renounce The objects of vain To die to myself And follow Christ’s way Scripture Reading (Acts 6:8, 12 / 7:44-60 NLT) “A reading from the Book of Acts…” 8 Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed amazing miracles and signs among the people. 12 This roused the people, the elders, and the teachers of religious law. So they arrested Stephen and brought him before the high council. 44 “Our ancestors carried the Tabernacle[i] with them through the wilderness. It was constructed according to the plan God had shown to Moses… 46 “David found favor with God and asked for the privilege of building a permanent Temple for the God of Jacob. 47 But it was Solomon who actually built it.48 However, the Most High doesn’t live in temples made by human hands. As the prophet says, 49 ‘Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Could you build me a temple as good as that?’ asks the Lord. ‘Could you build me such a resting place? 50 Didn’t my hands make both heaven and earth?’[k] 51 “You stubborn people! You are heathen at heart and deaf to the truth. Must you forever resist the Holy Spirit? That’s what your ancestors did, and so do you! 52 Name one prophet your ancestors didn’t persecute! They even killed the ones who predicted the coming of the Righteous One—the Messiah whom you betrayed and murdered. 53 You deliberately disobeyed God’s law, even though you received it from the hands of angels.” 54 The Jewish leaders were infuriated by Stephen’s accusation, and they shook their fists at him in rage.[m]55 But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed steadily into heaven and saw the glory of God, and he saw Jesus standing in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 56 And he told them, “Look, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing in the place of honor at God’s right hand!” 57 Then they put their hands over their ears and began shouting. They rushed at him 58 and dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. His accusers took off their coats and laid them at the feet of a young man named Saul.[n] 59 As they stoned him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” 60 He fell to his knees, shouting, “Lord, don’t charge them with this sin!” And with that, he died. Questions As you hear this passage, what comes to mind? Can you think of a time when your experience of God resulted in tension or conflict with others? Jesus invites his followers to deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow him. What might it look like for you to deny yourself and say “yes” to the invitation of Jesus? As a follower of Jesus, taking up your cross can lead to resistance, rejection, isolation, or misunderstanding. How might the Spirit be present with you as you navigate this reality today? As you reflect on God’s presence with you in this moment, what may be keeping you from following Jesus more fully? Take this time and ask God to give you the courage to deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Jesus today. Teach Me To Die (Reprise) Benediction “As we conclude our time together, may you continue to be aware of the presence of God and seek to find sacred spaces throughout the day.” Let us pray. Amen.”
Sacred Space at Home Week 5 (August 12th) Welcome: Welcome to Sacred Space at Home, a resource from Vineyard Church of New Orleans! We’re so glad you have decided to join us in this time of worship and reflection. Today we will meditate on Acts Chapter 5. Wherever you may find yourself in this moment, try and make space to listen and experience the presence of God as we pray, hear the words of scripture, and sing together. As we begin, we open our minds and hearts and say, “Come, Holy Spirit.” Song of Awareness Come and Tear Down the Walls by Jenny Wahlstrom & Mark Alan Schoolmeesters Come and tear down the walls I’ve built up Every wall I’ve built up Every wall I’ve built up Cause you deserve every piece of my heart Every piece of my heart Every piece of my heart Lord, I am trusting that you are a faithful father And all that you have it is good You’re a generous giver Your love’s like no other Won’t you come and break through to me Over and over and over again I am bringing my heart to you with open hands Closer and closer you’re drawing me in As the depths of my heart lay before you again Scripture Reading (Acts 5:25-32 NIV) “A reading from the Book of Acts…” 25 Then someone came and said, “Look! The men you put in jail are standing in the temple courts teaching the people.” 26 At that, the captain went with his officers and brought the apostles. They did not use force, because they feared that the people would stone them. 27 The apostles were brought in and made to appear before the Sanhedrin to be questioned by the high priest. 28 “We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name,” he said. “Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood.” 29 Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings! 30 The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead—whom you killed by hanging him on a cross. 31 God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might bring Israel to repentance and forgive their sins. 32 We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.” Reflection At the instruction of the Holy Spirit, the apostles began speaking of all they had seen, and teaching this Good News throughout the world – that Jesus is Lord! But the religious leaders did not approve. This gospel threatened their own power and authority, so they arrested the apostles and ordered them to stop speaking about Jesus. The apostles were faced with a choice: should they give in to the pressures of the religious leaders, or should they risk everything and obey God who had given them this new life & purpose? The apostles’ response was clear: their allegiance was to God. In many ways, this new Life would cost them greatly. But the apostles had been witnesses of God’s power! They had received forgiveness through Jesus! They had experienced firsthand the gift of the Holy Spirit – God’s own presence within them! This was a far greater reward, a treasure worthy of any price or sacrifice. And so, guided by the Holy Spirit, they offered up everything – time, money, possessions, politics & social norms, expectations & traditions. They became a people no longer guided by popular opinion or self-interest, but completely surrendered to the Holy Spirit. May it be so for us today, for the sake of the gospel and the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ! Questions 1. The Holy Spirit empowers us not only to believe the gospel, but to be transformed by it. How might the Spirit be inviting you to be transformed in this moment? 2. What aspects of your life most challenge or compete with your allegiance to Jesus? As you reflect, ask the Spirit to give you wisdom to walk in new life today. 3. What might it look like to surrender your whole self-everything you have and all that you are—to God? Take this time to ask the Spirit to work in and through you as you go about the rest of your day. Come Tear Down the Walls (Reprise) Benediction “As we conclude our time together, may you continue to be aware of the presence of God and seek to find sacred spaces throughout the day.” Let us pray. Amen.”
Welcome Welcome to Episode 61 of my podcasts, the view from the crow's nest. And as is invariably the case, I am going to be talking about audience Ninja, and the agency that have just started with coming towards the end of the second week of the agency the second week of the client and a couple of days ago, sumana did the podcast my wife because I was just I was rude, I was drained man, totally drained. And it's been intense it's been hard it's been a bit overwhelmed, and I was feeling a bit low about it or. Yesterday was a bit better. I've been trying to take, as I said in the last couple of days, you know, when you're overwhelmed. It's because you don't feel in control. Often, and it's because it basically on top of things and so the key is to get organised take baby steps, get yourself back in organised and control etc so that's what I've been doing and yeah today. I'm starting to get back on top of things, you know, I'm bringing my inboxes down to, you know, more manageable size and getting through messages and organising myself through other tools so that I can better keep track of things it's not quite perfect yet the system I've got I need to play around with a few other tools play around with a few things until you know until I'm organised basically until I'm on top of stuff, but it's getting there. You know, starting to get a teeny bit of structure going on with the business and with clients and this is obviously, absolutely paramount. Totally, totally important. It's getting sorted so I'm feeling a bit better today it's been another intense day but um first client is really really happy with the work that we're doing, which is very good. And, you know, that's, that's obviously really, you know, good feedback and they said they what they suggested giving us a testimonial straightaway over some stuff so that's a really positive side. And, you know, bit by bit, things are starting to take shape. So I'm hoping, fingers crossed. But I'm hoping that from. Next week I'll be able to start actually putting some time structures in place to my day and not working, you know, all hours and going a bit crazy and therefore be able to spend a bit more time helping with the kids and looking after the kids and playing with the kids, hopefully a bit more time with Simona, maybe we could go out for a walk. When the lockdown ended, we went out for a walk like seven, eight k every day. You know, every every night for about a month. And now I haven't been out for a walk in about a month, no joke. So, we need to get back to that. So we'll see, we'll see. Next week guys but definitely feeling more positive today feeling a bit back on onto it today and, yeah, that's making me feel boy, I think I probably sound more buoyant to separate to that had a little meeting with my wife over one of our other projects, which is probably good it's half full lunch, the brand education by travel, which is our kind of just personal family blog travel brand thing not done anything with it but that's the name of it and then also half full, on the. Eventually, Commander worldschooling hub, which is our kind of suite of products and service tools and services that we're building for the world schooling community, principally to help the world schoolers to finally connect with each other, wherever they are in the world. So the thing that we're discussing today. The project is we've come up with an idea, a couple of months ago had an idea for a curriculum to design a curriculum for our kids and any other kids who are interested but world school is predominantly, and it's really simple. In that the core idea of it. It's to use basically places to visit so they could be landmarks they could be you know geological places they could be national parks, could be palaces, they could be ruins you know monuments whatever that places that you'd basically go visit for a day out and having them as the central subject of the curriculum, and then looking at them from multiple --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/theviewfromthecrowsnest/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theviewfromthecrowsnest/support
Sacred Space at Home Week 4 (August 5th) Welcome: Welcome to Sacred Space at Home, a resource from Vineyard Church of New Orleans! We’re so glad you have decided to join us in this time of worship and reflection. Today we will meditate on Acts Chapter 4. Wherever you may find yourself in this moment, try and make space to listen and experience the presence of God as we pray, hear the words of scripture, and sing together. As we begin, we open our minds and hearts and say, “Come, Holy Spirit.” Song of Awareness The Servant Song by Richard Gillard & Ethan Asters Will you let me be your servant Let me be as Christ to you Pray that I might have the grace To let you be my servant too We are pilgrims on the journey We are travelers on the road We are here to help each other Walk the mile and bear the load You and I are sister brother Called together by the Christ As we share our wounds together Healing comes and love abides I will hold the Christ light for you In the nighttime of your fear I will hold my hand out to you Speak the peace you long to hear I will weep when you are weeping When you laugh, I'll laugh with you I will share your joy and sorrow Till we've seen this journey through Let us serve the poor and stranger As the hands and feet of Christ Share the hope of God together In our words and by our lives Scripture Reading (Acts 4:32-35 NLT) 32 All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. 33 The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great blessing was upon them all. 34 There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them 35 and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need. Reflection 1. As you hear this passage, what comes to mind? Can you think of a time you were overwhelmed by generosity and love? 2. The Spirit leads toward unity of heart and mind. This unity fosters solidarity with our sisters and brothers in our community and our world. How might the Spirit be developing this unity in you today? 3. As witnesses of the resurrection of Jesus, we are called to hold our possessions loosely and hold onto others tightly. How might the Spirit be inviting you into deeper generosity for the sake of God’s kingdom today? 4. As you reflect on this invitation, what things may be keeping you from embracing generosity and love? Take this time to ask God to give you the courage to say “yes” to the Spirit’s invitation today. The Servant Song (Reprise) Benediction “As we conclude our time together, may you continue to be aware of the presence of God and seek to find sacred spaces throughout the day.” Let us pray. Amen.”

Sacred Space at Home Week 3 (July 29th) Welcome: Welcome to Sacred Space at Home, a resource from Vineyard Church of New Orleans! We’re so glad you have decided to join us in this time of worship and reflection. Today we will meditate on Acts Chapter 3. Wherever you may find yourself in this moment, try and make space to listen and experience the presence of God as we pray, hear the words of scripture, and sing together. As we begin, we open our minds and hearts and say, “Come, Holy Spirit.” Song of Awareness We’ll All Be Free by William Matthews There's a world at war Caught in suffering Silent casualties Oh God, grant us peace In these sleepless nights I can hardly breathe Despite brutality I know that we'll be free I know that we'll be free So let the light in, keep it shining Let it break into the darkness All the love dares us to see We'll all be free In these desperate times Love will hold us here Love will join our hands Teach us to have no fear So we lay our hate down To wash their feet When we see our brother Oh, we'll all be free Yes, we'll all be free We'll be free (free), free (free) We'll all be free Tell your sister, tell your brother Tell your father, tell your mother Tell yourselves, tell everyone We'll all be free Tell the lovers, tell the haters Tell the prisoners, tell the jailers Tell the world, tell everyone We'll all be free Scripture Reading (Acts 3:1-10 NLT) Peter and John went to the Temple one afternoon to take part in the three o’clock prayer service. As they approached the Temple, a man lame from birth was being carried in. Each day he was put beside the Temple gate, the one called the Beautiful Gate, so he could beg from the people going into the Temple. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for some money. Peter and John looked at him intently, and Peter said, “Look at us!” The lame man looked at them eagerly, expecting some money. But Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!” Then Peter took the lame man by the right hand and helped him up. And as he did, the man’s feet and ankles were instantly healed and strengthened. He jumped up, stood on his feet, and began to walk! Then, walking, leaping, and praising God, he went into the Temple with them. All the people saw him walking and heard him praising God. When they realized he was the lame beggar they had seen so often at the Beautiful Gate, they were absolutely astounded! Reflection As you hear this passage, what comes to mind? Can you think of a time you experienced God at work outside the walls of the Church? The Spirit opens our eyes to see all people as beloved children of God. Where might the Spirit be opening your eyes to see in this moment? God takes ordinary acts of compassion, generosity, and love, and turns them into extraordinary miracles for the sake of the world around us. How might the Spirit be inviting you to extend a hand for the sake of God’s kingdom today? As you reflect on this invitation, what things may be keeping you from listening to the Spirit more fully? Take this time to ask God to give you the courage to experience and be transformed by the Spirit today. We’ll All Be Free (Reprise) Benediction “As we conclude our time together, may you continue to be aware of the presence of God and seek to find sacred spaces throughout the day.” Let us pray. Amen.”
Sacred Space at Home Week 2 (July 22nd) Welcome: Welcome to Sacred Space at Home, a resource from Vineyard Church of New Orleans! We’re so glad you have decided to join us in this time of worship and reflection. Today we will meditate on Acts Chapter 2. Wherever you may find yourself in this moment, try and make space to listen and experience the presence of God as we pray, hear the words of scripture, and sing together. As we begin, we open our minds and hearts and say, “Come, Holy Spirit.” Song of Awareness Not In A Hurry by Will Reagan & United Pursuit Lord I don't want to rush on ahead In my own strength When You're right here I'm not in a hurry When it comes to Your spirit When it comes to Your presence When it comes to Your voice I'm learning to listen Just to rest in Your nearness I'm starting to notice You are speaking Lord I want to love like You I want to feel what You feel I want to see what You see Open my eyes, I want to see You more clearly Open my ears, I want to hear You speak Tell me your thoughts whats on Your mind I'll be your friend, I want to see through Your eyes I want to see through Your eyes Scripture Reading (Acts 2:1-4 & 42-47 NLT) (No Music) On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. 2 Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. 3 Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. 4 And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability… 42 All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. 43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. 44 And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45 They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. 46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity— 47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved. Reflection 1. As you hear this passage, what comes to mind? Can you think of a time you were overwhelmed by the presence of God? 2. Upon experiencing the Holy Spirit, the disciples were changed forever. Their personal transformation led to a communal transformation founded in generosity, inclusiveness, and love. What transformation might the Spirit be stirring in you today? 3. How might the Spirit be inviting you into deeper generosity, inclusivity, and love? 4. As you reflect on this invitation, what things may be keeping you from listening to the Spirit more fully? Take this time to ask God to give you the courage experience and be transformed by the Spirit today. Not In A Hurry (Reprise) Benediction “As we conclude our time together, may you continue to be aware of the presence of God and seek to find sacred spaces throughout the day.” Let us pray. Amen.”

Welcome Welcome to Episode Seven of my podcast. The view from the crow's nest. And it's Friday night, and it is episode seven so that means I've completed a week, the first week of my daily podcast. So I want to thank everybody who's listened cording to anchor the app that I recorded into. There's an estimated audience of three people. And so to each and every one of you three I say thank you very much for listening I massively appreciate it. And I really don't take it for granted, and maybe in the future somebody listening to this episode will be the fourth maybe there'll be the 400th. I don't know but each and every person, I am very, very grateful for. So thank you very much for listening, and as I said in the very first episode, a week ago. I jokingly said, This podcast is the view from the crow's nest, aka distracting my monkey mind. And the reason being, the monkey mind is the part of you that just wants to be busy and if it's busy then it's happy because it's doing something but perhaps it's not doing the thing that you actually really need to be doing and we've all been there. So I have this kind of, oh I need to be busy I should be doing something bla bla bla and this monkey mind mentality and doing these daily podcasts was my way of distracting the monkey mind itself and going Hmm, I am doing something and I'm keeping you busy, but it's also a way of keeping a record for myself of my thoughts and ideas and how I'm thinking on things as I progress and as they change, and also hopefully, giving you a little bit of, if not entertainment, if not something interesting ideally, something of value some things to think about some concepts some ideas, maybe something that will help you in business or help you with your family or help you in travelling I don't know because I don't know you. Exactly. But whatever it is, if I can help in any way even just by planting a seed of an idea then that'll be awesome. So, this episode I'm just going to talk about a few seeds of ideas that I've been thinking about this week and maybe some will resonate with you maybe they weren't so let's get into it only gonna be a couple. In no particular order. This week I have been trying, I've organised myself in a different way. I've been working on an idea of done by one then fund basically my morning, I focus for the first few hours, purely on the most important singular project that I've got to do which at the moment is called grip the sky experience which is a music project that I'm working on for an EP launch. That will be in a couple of should be ready in a few weeks. But, so I do that for the first couple hours every day before I check email before I do anything after that it's an hour of, so of admin which is checking replying to emails and messages and also by admin and talking also about web development and stuff as well you know, making sure that this websites running or adding this thing to that website or what have you. And then it gets about one o'clock lunchtime. And then after that, and here's the here's the key part after that is fun and by fun. That could mean doing more work it could mean doing no work it could mean doing anything, but he's really important thing and after a week of doing it something I'm really am appreciating and didn't expect. I feel so much more relaxed, by taking the pressure off myself that I don't have to achieve so much with every day. Previously, I'd have a day schedule, which would be like, you know, wake up. Do 1520 minutes of Italian practice. And then you'd be 15 minutes or an hour or practice, you know, ear training exercises for music, and then I would get up and then I would do exercise for an hour and then I would you know have breakfast. and then I'd get into work and I'd do emails I do all this stuff and then my work would last pretty much all the day. And then I think are but I haven't practice guitar I haven't practised vocals, but I. So I was always under this constant pressure from myself. Please, I'd love to hear from you. Come over to Twitter's probably the easiest one at Romeo crow on Twitter, and just ping me a message you can also find me at Romeo crow on telegram. And you can go to my websites etc etc. So, we'd love to hear from you. Anything that crosses your mind, then please do ask it the reason I say that is because I am quite aware that I don't think necessarily too conventionally, and I certainly don't have dreams and aspirations and run my life from love with my wife we don't run our life like kind of the majority are normal people we're kind of a bit bonkers in some ways, and one of those ways and leads me on to this question if somebody was saying, Well, how can you afford to travel and not work. And the so so I just wanted to address that just very quickly, in case mostly because I want to give anybody listening to give you some inspiration that you might use go, Ah, I didn't really think of it like that maybe I could change things around my life because everything. You know everything one does should really be working towards in some small way their ideal dream of how they want their life to be and by dream I'm not talking necessarily about, you know, your dream house or your dream possession, although that could be part of in fact yesterday or the day before I did it banging on about a house, but I'm talking about how you want your, your days to be you know everyday because there's only so many things that you could buy. If you'd like buying things but generally they're really pleasurable things that we have in life are really simple spending time with people going for walks. And, you know, some food we eat, having a nice meal together. It's generally not, you know, experiences, that, that, really, we tend to remember rather than the purchases or what have you. And so, in my mind, I have created, and then with my wife we've created together, our view of our future out perfect kind of lifestyle. And part of that is actually Well, this is a when good in the future but how can you achieve as much as you can have that today with what you've got. So, the perfect lifestyle for us was oh you know we'd go for a walk every day together, and a few other things, you know, and that's a really simple kind of idea now when we're in London. When we're living in Battersea we could only go for a walk in Battersea Park, because you know London's obviously a city and there are lots of parks, and we're by Betsy parked a beautiful park, so that's great we went for what during the day. But what would be really nice is to go for an evening walk after dinner, but do not really go for an evening walk in Battersea it's not exactly the place to do it. And so, you know, you work with what you've got. When we're in this gear as we are now an evening walk is beautiful. The weather's good people are out the restaurants are open, it's all that pizza culture you know people out sitting in the street drinking coffee and whatnot. And so, you find what you can do with where you are right now and then you do your best with that and then you make the small incremental changes and they might not seem like a lot within themselves, but over a period of time they really do mount up. So, to get to the question of how can you afford to do we, you know, to travel and whatnot. Well, the first thing I would say is, what we spend our money on you know there's essentials that we spend our money on food and rent and things like that. And then there's obviously non essentials and I'm n --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/theviewfromthecrowsnest/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theviewfromthecrowsnest/support
Welcome Welcome to Episode Three of the view from the crow's nest with your host, Romeo crow. And when I say host. I mean, it's just me it's episode three. And I want to thank the possibly two people who have been listening to the last two episodes, and you guys are awesome. According to my app anchor it says plays three listeners to estimated. So, that's great, but actually the reason I mentioned it is because I started this podcast like three days ago this is third day and it's a daily podcast, and I have been very guilty in the past of not celebrating wins in the sense of, you know, I might hit a threshold, which to me might have been amazing. years before I got there, and by the time I got there. I've already got my eye on a future threshold. And so, I might achieve something and then I kind of don't really give it the the gravitas and the value and the tap on the back that it is. And to that degree. And the reason I'm sharing the fact that I've got all of the three lessons from two listeners, is because there's two people out there there's two people in the world who have decided to spend their time maybe you're the third person maybe you're one of those two people maybe you're the 25th person, but who have spent their time chosen to spend their valuable time listening to me babble on. And so in whatever you're doing, whether that's, you know, business creatively whatever. Even if you've just got one person listening to you that's, that's really great that's an achievement and when you've got two and 10. This is a really valuable thing so I really want to remind myself never to take that for granted, whereas in the past, I probably have been a bit guilty of that by just looking at the numbers and forgetting that actually these are real people who are spending their valuable time and so I wanted to kind of share that with you and say that I'm not going to do that in the future. I'm really grateful for each and every one of you who are listening to this. You know that's that's really awesome. And I hope that I'm able to make it at some point entertaining at some point interesting and at some points valuable. And on that note, the thing I wanted to talk to you about today, or the idea or the thought that I want to share. If you listen to yesterday's podcast I was talking about the fact that I want to be a bit more accountable to myself really. So, as much as anything else. So I'm going to share with you, not just things I've done, but things I'm doing, and also future plans, they may fall apart completely they may never happen. But, at the very least, it's something that I can look back on and other people can look back on and go Okay, I see what you did there and you change there or you didn't change there or so fingers crossed some of these pan out and the one I want to share with you today something I started today and I can think about the last. Well, few weeks really I've been leading up to this but this is a new routine. A new habit a new system. A new structure for running my day. And it's. I always want to put far too much into the hours that I've got available and I kind of forget that there is also something called life, you know, that also needs attention, and I want to put attention into and I very easily could slip into working 25 hours out 24 hours and I kind of have to remind myself or be reminded that there are other things that I could or should or might like to be doing. And so I'm on a mission at the moment to re address this kind of work life balance to re frame, all the projects that I want to get done and actually finish stuff and really move forward with stuff. And one of those. One of the big changes that we're going to be making my wife and I, is the idea of bringing on board a team and working with other people in various projects because certainly I've been massively guilty of doing too much myself and not getting help from other people over the years and that I'm sure has slowed down my progress o --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/theviewfromthecrowsnest/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theviewfromthecrowsnest/support
Welcome Welcome to Episode Two of my podcast. The view from the crow's nest. Before I continue, thank you very much to the one person who watched know what watched listened to episode one yesterday, whoever you are, you are a champion. Thank you. And so, for those of you just joining us, which may be just the person from yesterday, maybe somebody else it's you that I'm talking to my podcast of you from the crow's nest is my daily effort to record my thoughts, my ideas, some tips and tricks. Anything that basically I'm thinking of in this, in this moment. And the idea is that I want to document my Yeah, my ideas and my journey and whatnot. Half of myself and half for the listener. So, I will say right now I cannot guarantee that any episode will give you entertainment or be interesting or give you value, although I will try to, but I expect that over time, there will be a theme or there'll be a style that will naturally evolve from these podcasts, well that style is what that will be I don't know but thank you very much for sticking with me if you decide to and. But speaking of records. So, I am using an app called otter.ai to record the audio for the podcast, and I've literally just got my hands free stuck into my phone, and I'm trying on that yesterday I use the little lapel microphone which was really cheap one. And the sound wasn't great it was all right. So I don't know what the sound is going to be like for this, but I will try a few different things but the idea of this app, otter.ai, is that you can record your audio and it will also transcribe what you're saying on the fly or do it live. And the great thing about that is that you can then search by doing a keyword search for any words that appeared in the text. So my hope is that over the days and weeks and the months and even the years, I can put in a keyword, and I can go back and find all of the references to that so I can see what my thoughts were on a particular subject or how they might have changed over the years. And so if you ever even just want to have notes for your own personal benefit, then otter.ai is, it's free, and it's a really great app. And then the actual app that I used to do the podcast. As I found out yesterday after I recorded it. I export from otter.ai and the audio straight into an app called anchor. So if you've ever thought about doing a podcast anchor is the app that I'm using it's a free app. And it's really super easy and it's really cool and anchor then pings out your podcast to all sorts of places so I got a note that my podcast is now available on Spotify, which is very exciting. And I imagine other places will come soon. So there you go, if you ever thought of keeping notes, then otter.ai. And if you ever thought of doing a podcast then anchor. But the interesting thing about that is, accountability, and I talked yesterday about that I struggled, over the years, I'm very good at starting things I'm great at coming up with ideas of vision but I'm not so good at finishing things. And one of the reasons potentially is, you know, no accountability I work with my wife and, you know, we do stuff, but basically we're our own unit our own island and we don't. Up till now we haven't had a team helping us with stuff. And that's probably been something that's held certainly held me back over the years is not having people to help, basically, not having partners people to bounce ideas off etc. and that's something that I want to improve on moving forward I think that'll be the key that really unlocks my projects and my ideas and ambitions. Over the next rest of my life. And part of that is accountability if you're working with someone, then obviously you're already have something that you're accountable to you have to deliver your end of the work. And, funnily enough I speak into my brother today, and my brother is is very successful guy, very focused and he is brilliant at finishing things he's very systematic if he says I'm going to do somethin --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/theviewfromthecrowsnest/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theviewfromthecrowsnest/support

You want to create a schedule that allows you to run easy days in Zone 2 to illicit a recovery response, increase aerobic capacity, and increase fatty acid usage. The latter is a major benefit of Zone 2 running, true aerobic running will make you a better fat burner. Zone 3 running will leave you burning a mixture of carbs and fat, never making you super efficient at being a carb burner or fat burner! "What's New in the 303": https://303triathlon.com/kara-goucher-nearly-collides-with-mountain-lion-on-morning-training-run/ Goucher set out around 8:45 a.m. local time on Monday, May 6, toward the trail systems west of Boulder. As she passed alongside a parked truck outside a residential construction site on Sunshine Canyon Drive—still a Boulder road, not a trail—a mountain lion sprinted across the front of the vehicle. The two were inches away when they saw each other, Goucher told Runner’s World. https://303cycling.com/how-we-talk-about-drivers-hitting-cyclists/ “a perfect day to ride,” she says—and the 46-year-old triathlete was travelling east on Nelson Road, a straight, treeless rural route roughly nine miles north of town. After signaling with her arm, she started to turn left onto North 65th Avenue, a quiet stretch of pavement where she would be able to worry less about traffic. She never made it. Midturn, “I bounced off the grill of a brand-new Ford F-150,” she recalled. “I flew through the air and landed on the westbound shoulder.” According to a story that ran later that day in the local newspaper, the Boulder Daily Camera, Willerton made her turn in front of the driver, Stephen Gray, then 62, who was traveling in the same direction and hit her from behind. Willerton never lost consciousness, but she suffered six broken ribs, a triple pelvic fracture, chipped teeth, and a collapsed lung, among other injuries.
