SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas - Veteran broadcaster Ron Whitlock, of Ron Whitlock Reports, recently interviewed U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar about Mexico's water debt to the U.S.Whitlock asked Cuellar if the U.S. should withhold water from Mexico in California, in retaliation for Mexico not releasing water into the Rio Grande. He also asked the Laredo congressman if he would support Laguna Madre Water District in its efforts to build a desalination plant that would provide potable water to the residents of South Padre Island.Under a 1944 water sharing treaty, Mexico is committed to providing 350,000 acre feet of water a year. Mexico is badly in arrears in the current five year cycle. It owes the U.S. 1.3 million acre feet of water. The result has been devastating for South Texas farmers and ranchers. Texas' last remaining sugar mill, in Santa Rosa, closed its doors last year due to insufficient water. Here is an audio recording of the interview Whitlock secured with Rep. EDINBURG, Texas - The agricultural industry of the Rio Grande Valley has great supporters in Congress but needs more help at the state level. This is the view of Dante Galeazzi, president and CEO of the Texas International Produce Association. In an exclusive interview with Ron Whitlock Reports, Galeazzi said state leaders could help by providing half the money needed to line the Valley's irrigation canals.“We mean we have fantastic federal support,” Galeazzi said, referencing the work of U.S. Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz, along with U.S. Reps. Monica de la Cruz, Henry Cuellar, Vicente Gonzalez, and Tony Gonzales. “All six of them have been advocates, champions for us for the last 18 months. They have been wherever we need them. But what we need is the state. We need the state to step up and put skin in the game.”Galeazzi said the state of Texas should match the federal government's investment.“We need the state to match what the federal government can do. Because it's a huge price tag just to line the 3,500 miles of canals that are responsible for moving 85 percent of the water in the Rio Grande Valley,” Galeazzi said. “It is going to cost $5 billion. That's a huge price tag for anybody. But if we can get the state to take half and the federal government to take the other half out of the Infrastructure Bill, those monies… now you're talking about a very different figure. Now you're talking about something that can have an impact.'Galeazzi continued: “If we were to line all those canals, that could give us anywhere between 300,000 to 900,000 acre feet of water saved every single year. That is a huge savings.”Galeazzi pointed out that the Valley's canal system was largely developed in the 1940s.“It has largely not been updated. You've had a few pockets where you've had some improvements, but a vast majority of that 3,500 miles are still earthen canals. With this money, we can create immediate savings, and in the next two to four years, we could see a significant impact to the Valley, enough so that I believe it would get us to a point where we would we would have some savings that would allow us the time we need for big projects like salt water desalination, larger brackish water treatment, reverse osmosis.”Galeazzi added: “This has to be a multi -pronged approach, but most importantly, it has to start today. The longer we delay, the worse this issue gets, and more importantly, the more expensive correcting this issue becomes.”Here is an audio recording of the interview Dante Galeazzi gave Ron Whitlock Reports:Go to www.riograndeguardian.com to read the latest border news stories and watch the latest news videos.

Representatives Mike Johnson and Jim Jordan are trying to convince the American people that the Department of Justice has been weaponized against Republicans. They ignore the reality that, at this very moment, the DOJ is prosecuting Senator Bob Menendez, a Democrat, they just indicted Rep. Henry Cuellar, a Democrat, and the feds are prosecuting Hunter Biden, son of a president who is a . . . Democrat. Glenn discusses how, in reality, Johnsons and Jordan are obstructing justice in an attempt to assist Donald Trump in evading accountability for his crimes. If you're interested in supporting our all-volunteer efforts, you can become a Team Justice patron at: / glennkirschner If you'd like to support us and buy Team Justice and Justice Matters merchandise visit:https://shop.spreadshirt.com/glennkir...Check out Glenn's website at https://glennkirschner.com/Follow Glenn on:Threads: https://www.threads.net/glennkirschner2Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/glennkirschner2Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/glennkirschner2Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/glennkirsch...See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

On this edition of Parallax Views, Osgoode Hall Law School of York international law scholar Prof. Heidi Matthews joins us in the first segment to discuss the ICC (International Criminal Court) and its announcement that it will seek arrest warrants for Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel's Minister of Defence Yoav Gallant, and Hamas leaders like Yahya Sinwar in relation to the Gaza War. We get into the nitty gritty of what this means for Israel/Palestine and discuss issues such as genocide, war crimes, the breaking news that Israeli intelligence has been engaged in a nearly decade long covert war against the ICC, the massacre in Rafah, international humanitarian law and international criminal law, and much, much more. In the second segment of the show, Quincy Institue for Responsible Statecraft intern Brett Heinz joins the show to discuss his Responsible Statecraft piece "Foreign bribery in Congress: 'The way business is done'?"as well as the Quincy brief he co-wrote with Ben Freeman entitled "Subsidizing the Military-Industrial Complex: A Review of the Secretary of Defense Executive Fellows (SDEF) Program". Recently, two Congressmen, Rep. Henry Cuellar and Sen. Bob Menendez, were indicted on charges of foreign bribery. But that's only the tip of the iceberg, argues Brett Heinz. We look at foreign bribery scandals from Koreagate to Abscam up to the present day and Heinz offers insight into what is needed to combat this problem in the halls of Congress and the political system in America more broadly.

In this week's episode of Political Contessa, Jennifer delves into the hypocrisies and double standards within American politics. With her guest, Naysa Woomer, they examine the disparate responses from the Republican and Democratic parties to their respective “bad actors” in Congress. They cover high-profile cases involving George Santos, Senator Menendez, and Congressman Henry Cuellar while discussing the broader implications for political ethics and leadership.   Naysa Woomer is a seasoned political communications expert. Having previously worked for George Santos, Naysa brings an insider's perspective on the congressional landscape's inner workings and ethical challenges. She offers pointed critiques and insightful commentary on the ethical inconsistencies displayed by both parties.   "Republicans take the high road, Democrats take, take the corrupt road." ~ Naysa Woomer   Today on Political Contessa: There is a notable hypocrisy in how the Democratic and Republican parties handle internal scandals involving their members. Republicans expelled George Santos after a thorough investigation and damning ethics report. Despite facing severe allegations, Senator Menendez and Congressman Cuellar have not been subjected to the same level of scrutiny or action by their party. Leadership ethics within political parties are crucial yet often compromised for political convenience. Public officials are funded by taxpayer dollars, making it imperative for them to uphold higher ethical standards. Expulsion from office can be politically risky but necessary to maintain ethical integrity. Media treatment of congressional staff can vary significantly based on their association with the scandal. How both parties handle current scandals could significantly impact the upcoming election cycle.   Guest Contact Information: Naysa Woomer LinkedIn   Awaken Your Inner Political Contessa   Thanks for tuning into this week's episode of Political Contessa. But it still declined to find Israeli assurances to the contrary lacking in credibility enough to interrupt U.S. security assistance. What does this tell us about the state of U.S. support for Israel—especially as Israeli forces appear increasingly set to pursue an offensive on Rafah that Biden has openly opposed?“What to Expect When You're Not Expecting.” A sharp global decline in birth rates—often below replacement levels, especially (but not exclusively) in highly developed countries—has some academics and policymakers panicking about everything from the global balance of power to the future of social support systems. But are these concerns misplaced? And how (if at all) should we be thinking about the relationship between national security and family planning?“AzerbaiSCAM.” The Justice Department has indicted a second Democratic legislator—Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas—for working as an unregistered agent of a foreign government, this time that of Azerbaijan, even as a federal court in New York seats a jury for the prosecution of Sen. Bob Menendez for allegedly doing the same on behalf of Egypt and Qatar. Is this reflective of a broader problematic trend? And what should policymakers be doing about it?For object lessons, Alan lamented the passing of great Canadian Alice Munro. New York prosecutors have been using Michael Cohen not just as a vehicle to introduce documents, but to offer his own recollections and assessments of Donald Trump's state of mind, including why he chose to pay for Stormy Daniels' silence. Meanwhile, Trump has had friends visiting him at court — Republican politicians, some of them vice presidential hopefuls, who have made statements to the press that Trump himself is gagged from making. Indicted Rep. Henry Cuellar looks to be in even more serious trouble than he was last week, and Sen. Bob Menendez's trial has begun, with jury selection aided by a high-priced jury consultant. Steve Bannon has lost his appeal and will likely to have to serve out his (short) sentence for contempt of Congress before Trump has a chance to pardon him. And Rudy Giuliani is being sued again, this time in pursuit of a court order to bar him from lying — good luck with that. This is a public episode. He's referring, of course, to Stormy Daniels' frankly disturbing testimony about a sexual encounter with Trump, an encounter that sounded not particularly consensual. It's News Day Tuesday! Sam and Emma break down the biggest headlines of the day. First, Sam and Emma run through updates on Israel's advance on Rafah in the wake of Hamas accepting a ceasefire deal proposed by the US, the testimony of Stormy Daniels, Social Security, Boeing, Biden's support for Israel, Trump's legal woes, inter-state abortion immigration, the RNC, and MTG, before watching Brian Kilmeade attempt to spin Trump's ongoing trials into victories for Trump's enterprise. Next, they parse through the recent story around Hamas accepting a ceasefire-for-hostages deal, only for Israel to immediately turn around and kill the agreement as they moved forward with their invasion of Rafah, closing down Rafah crossing, demanding evacuation (from the last haven in Palestine), and separating families, in a desperate push to complete this ethnic cleansing. Sam and Emma look at the recent “warning” letter sent to the International Criminal Court by 12 GOP Senators (from McConnell to Cruz) threatening retaliation and worse if the ICC continues with its plan to issue arrest warrants for Bibi Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant, and tackle Biden's impending deadline to prove Israel's compliance with humanitarian law following the Leahy Law as they explore how the US' unwavering support for this genocide has only further weakened the international “rules-based” order that Biden supposedly sought to restore. After walking through the recent reports on the promising future of Social Security and Medicaid, and the importance of expanded IRS capacity, Sam and Emma wrap up the free half with a deep dive into the recent revelations around Henry Cuellar's corruption, and what that means for Democratic Party leadership's support for his reelection.   And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma discuss the controversy around Kristi Noem undertaking a typical matriarchal task (slaughtering the family puppy), Bernadette from New England dives into the classism ingrained in the US Healthcare system, and Osama from North Carolina asks about Egypt's potential in conflict with Israel. Happy Monday! Sam and Emma speak with Eric Klinenberg, professor in social science and Director of the Institute for Public Knowledge at New York University, to discuss his recent book 2020: One City, Seven People, and the Year Everything Changed.  First, Sam and Emma run through updates on Israel's staunch refusal to stop the bloodshed in Gaza, a tentative hold on US ammo to Israel, famine in Gaza, Missouri abortion rights, starvation in Sudan, US labor law, the downfall of Henry Cuellar, and Utah's new tip line for anonymous genital reports. Professor Eric Klinenberg then joins, as he, Sam, and Emma preface the conversation with the idea of “natural disasters” largely being a function of society's capacity to deal with natural phenomena, with “2020” looking at what the crises under COVID revealed about the incredibly precarious, fractured, and individualist society of the United States. Expanding on this, Professor Klinenberg tackles the ethnographic nature of this work, and the overwhelming nature of the trauma suffered by the public during the pandemic, something also seen during the Spanish Flu epidemic in the early 20th Century. After further contextualizing the United State's role as an outlier in many regards when it came to the COVID-19 pandemic, including its supposedly elite levels of preparedness and its disproportionate failure in preventing deaths, Eric walks Sam and Emma through the unique failure that faced the US in the form of a complete abdication of leadership from the federal government – led (at the time) by the Trump Administration – in favor of extreme politicization, nihilism, and polarization at a time where social solidarity was of the utmost importance. Today's Headlines: Ceasefire talks between Hamas and Israel collapse in Cairo, leading Israel to announce an imminent incursion into Gaza. Hamas claimed responsibility for firing rockets at the Kerem Shalom border crossing, causing its closure, worsening the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza. Additionally, the Israeli government ordered the closure of Al Jazeera's local offices, citing security concerns and accusing the network of incitement against soldiers. Furthermore, the US halted a shipment of US-made ammunition to Israel, and in US politics, Senator Tim Scott's vague response to accepting the 2024 election results raised eyebrows. Meanwhile, Texas Congressman Henry Cuellar and his wife were indicted on bribery charges involving an oil company and a bank. Finally, severe weather in Texas and Oklahoma have caused widespread chaos.  Resources/Articles mentioned in this episode: AP News: Hamas says cease-fire talks ended. Biden's Ammo Pause for Israel, Rep. Cuellar Indicted for Bribery, Gov. Noem Keeps Digging

There are no good martinis to start the week but Jim and Greg have plenty to discuss about President Biden playing hardball with Israel over ammunition, a seemingly sane House Democrat getting indicted on bribery charges, and South Dakota Gov. just making things worse as she tries to promote her new book.First, they fume over reports that Biden has paused the delivery of some U.S.-made ammunition to Israel, with no explanation from the White House or anyone else. Is this designed to discourage Israel from going into Rafah to eradicate Hamas? Whatever the reason, an explanation is warranted. Then, they discuss the indictments aimed at Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar and his wife Imelda over them allegedly accepting $600,000 in bribes from an energy firm connected with the Azerbaijan government. If it's true, Cuellar obviously ought to be prosecuted. But are Democrats also eager to oust the Democrat most likely to make common cause with Republicans on the border and other issues? Finally, they have multiple observations about South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem's failed attempts to stop the political bleeding over revelations in her new book. From dog killing to whether she ever met with North Korean dictators Kim Jon Un, the answers on "Face the Nation" Sunday were less than impressive - and further proof she won't be and shouldn't be nominated for vice president. Please visit our great sponsors:Fast Growing Treeshttps://fastgrowingtrees.com/martiniUse code Martini to save an additional 15% off on your first order.

Also on the agenda this week: Marjorie Taylor Greene says she will force a vote on the motion to vacate Speaker Mike Johnson, and Republicans ramp up the offensive on campus protests. The [DS] plan backfired on them. [DS] unleashed antifa on the college campuses to remove Biden and to usher in hate speech laws. But the people are seeing an invasion instead. The counterinsurgency is building and the students have now hit the precipice. Today on "Sara Gonzales Unfiltered" is a no-holds-barred analysis of today's biggest stories. We take a deep dive into the controversial demands of pro-Hamas protesters at the University of Chicago and their request for HIV tests, dental dams, and Plan B; the exam cancellation demands of traumatized Columbia law students after police confronted anti-Israel protests; and the patriotic Ole Miss counter-protesters singing the national anthem. Gonzales dissects the expected DOJ indictment of Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar over his ties to corrupt Azerbaijani businessmen, speculating on his lavish lifestyle despite a modest congressional salary. The conversation exposes the D.C. "gravy train" of corruption plaguing career politicians. Sara Gonzales and guest Matthew Marsden analyze the potential VP picks for Donald Trump's 2024 run, including Governor Doug Burgum and Senators Marco Rubio, J.D. Vance, and Tim Scott. Marsden provocatively suggests Tulsi Gabbard could be a strategic "star power" vice presidential choice to attract independents and moderates, despite her Democratic affiliation. Look ahead to the 2024 election as they analyze whether Biden could gain from a Trump indictment based on new polls. Uplifting clips show Trump being cheered as a savior by first responders in New York. Gonzales also dives into the Dan Schneider lawsuit against the "Quiet on Set" documentary over insinuations he sexually abused child actors, despite his bizarre public apology. Was the Nickelodeon showrunner complicit in disturbing sexualized scenes? Sara is joined by her husband for the very first time and BlazeTV contributor Matthew Marsden.
