Strategic partnerships in staffing aren't just a support tool—they're a vital growth engine for firms looking to scale in today's competitive landscape. In this episode, Brad Bialy sits down with Kendra Cato, Director of Strategic Partnerships at Advance Partners, to discuss the mindset shift required for staffing firms to treat collaboration not as a luxury, but as a strategic necessity. With economic uncertainty, candidate shortages, and cautious clients, many staffing owners default to operating in silos. Kendra challenges this approach with real-world examples, outlining how early and intentional collaboration unlocks faster scaling, stronger client outcomes, and a competitive edge. Expect to Learn: Why strategic partnerships must start from day one How to find true alignment with vendors and industry collaborators The pitfalls of not checking in regularly with your partners When to reassess your partnerships—and how to know you've outgrown them Why data storytelling matters in executive-level communications Chapters and Key Moments: [00:22] The Mindset Shift: From Scarcity to Abundance [02:17] Why Collaboration Should Start on Day One [03:52] Finding a Growth Engine Through Partnerships [05:03] What Makes a “True” Strategic Partner [06:43] The Balance of Responsibility in Partnerships [09:08] The Ideal Kickoff Call [13:10] How Often to Check In with Strategic Partners [16:18] Knowing When to Change Partners [20:04] Overcoming the “First Service” Label [22:33] How to Find the Right Partner Without Attending Conferences [24:47] Investment vs. Expense in Strategic Partnerships [26:10] Should Your Partner Be Local or National? If you're feeling trapped in a cycle of inherited limitations, constantly battling to break free from societal expectations, then you are not alone! The struggle to thrive as a modern woman, juggling career, relationships, and self-worth, can be overwhelming. Perhaps you've found yourself repeating patterns passed down through generations, feeling the weight of unspoken rules and unfulfilled potential. But what if there's a way to transform these struggles into opportunities for self-discovery and personal power? Imagine being at the crossroads of despair and power, feeling the weight of generations of unspoken limitations. I'm sharing my wisdom I've gathered on my journey and adding my professional expertise to illuminate the path to self-discovery and personal growth for modern women. Through countless encounters with women from different walks of life, I have discovered a universal theme of suffering stemming from societal constructs that hinder women from thriving. My passion for guiding women into their power was sparked by my own experiences and the transformations I witnessed in the lives of countless women. My soul mission is to guide women through conversations that challenge the status quo, inviting them to embrace their emotions, question inherited narratives, and embark on a journey of becoming. My hope is to pave the way for women to break free from societal constraints and embrace a more nourishing narrative. February is black history month, an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans, and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history and, importantly, in the women's equality movement. African American women have too often been overlooked in the history of our fight for gender equity. This episode honors and quotes many brilliant, brave, black women who fought to create a fairer and more equitable world. These words have tremendous power and impact including the important work of Kimberlé Crenshaw who coined the phrase intersectionality. Crenshaw simply and poignantly said, "If we aren't intersectional, some of us, the most vulnerable, are going to fall through the cracks." This is at the heart of Together We Rise, bringing to the forefront that we must consider all women when we talk about advancing women. As Audra Lord said, “I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own.” #tunein and celebrate #blackhistorymonth and honor the insights of so many brilliant black women including Sojourner Truth, Shirley Chisholm, Bell Hooks, Pauli Murray, Kimberlé Crenshaw, Rebecca Walker, Audre Lorde, Angela Davis, Dr. Maya Angelou, and more! In fact, in the United States, an estimated 300 to 400 doctors die by suicide each year, which is more than double that of general population. We are in a health care crisis. This affects not just the medical team, but also the patients we serve. The band-aids that are tenuously holding the system together are starting to come undone. On this week's show I'm sharing one of the most powerful episodes I've ever recorded with a lady called Janette Marx. Jeanette is the global CEO at a company called Airswift, a huge workforce, staffing and solutions organisation headquartered in the US with 62 offices worldwide, 900 employees, and 7500 contractors that they support. Jeanette's been with the business for nine years and in the recruitment industry for over 20 years. She previously worked for Adecco and was leading a huge operation for them across the US.What I love about Jeanette is her mindset and how she's done what she's done while going through so much! She's an author of a book called Together We Rise, which she co-authored after the pandemic with 16 other female leaders in the staffing industry globally. She shared how she's grown her career as an entrepreneur and become a global CEO as a female whilst having a baby and running a business. Everything she's done to get to where she was at the beginning of 2023. And then we talked about the impact of finding out that she had stage two breast cancer at the beginning of March this year and how she dealt with the news.Because the book she wrote was about dealing with crisis moments and stress and how to stay calm, she managed to put everything in the book into practice and between the beginning of March and the end of April, she was back to work, cancer free. She went through a series of different operations, she built a team of doctors around her and she took control of a life or death situation and has come back to work with a different sense of appreciation for life. She's still incredibly motivated to give back, build a business and help her people, but she also has calmness, which has come from getting through something so serious. In this episode there were moments where I had to take a deep breath and as I was getting quite emotional myself. I'm just inspired by such an amazing woman who and what she's achieved. And I think anyone out there who's dealt with serious illness themselves or seen their family members or friends go through it can resonate. And anyone who's at the helm or wants to be at the helm of a larger business, you can also resonate with with different things we discussed. If you're interested in reading ‘Together We Rise', you can find it here: https://amzn.to/3KglF41__________________________________________Hoxo MessageAre you spending hours on LinkedIn and cold outreach and want more business coming to you over your competition? In and out.  Expanding and contracting.  Receiving and releasing.  Notice your thoughts. Allowing them to drift away as soon as they arise, Freeing yourself from their desire to stay and play.  Let them go.  One by one.  Observe your body, Noticing if there are any places of discomfort or pain, And inviting it to leave your body on your outbreath, As you relax deeper into your bed. Breathe... PAUSE… Mother Teresa said, I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water that creates many ripples. That stone is love.  So see if you can imagine yourself holding that stone.  Look at it in your hand. See it's shape and color. Feel its texture.  Hold it to your heart, and imagine it being infused with your love.  Your deep desire for more kindness,  More compassion,  More honesty,  More connectivity,  More beauty.  PAUSE... Now recall those images of pain and suffering and negativity that have been dancing around you. And as you squeeze the stone of love in your hand,  Imagine those images evolve into images of love, healing and joy. Seeing them transform in front of you, The energy of your stone sending waves of love out into the world.  PAUSE… Watch the energy spread out to those you know and love, Soothing their suffering.  PAUSE… Let the energy of love spread even further out to those who challenge you, Dissolving their pain.  PAUSE… Watch as that energy of love covers all the rest of the people of the world, Filling them with healing light.  As you lie here, deeply relaxed,  And holding to your stone of love. LONG PAUSE… Now see if you can imagine that you're holding your stone, And are staring out onto a body of water in front of you. Slowly, but powerfully, you throw your stone of love across the smooth water. It jumps on the water, each time, casting ripples out, And eventually, dropping heavily, leaving a wake of many, beautiful ripples.  PAUSE… You feel yourself smile, knowing your love is being cast out into the world.  And then something catches your attention.  You see more ripples in the water.   You see the smooth water being disrupted by all kinds of different stones,  And ripples small and large painting the water with their love.  And they each glow.   They each shine brightly.  And soon, the water in front of you illuminates with deep loving energy. One that you imagine spreading like a healing salve all across the world.   You look around and see one person after another, looking upon the water, their hands still vibrating from the stone they just released. We're all here.  Seeing each other.   Connecting with each other.  Giving our love out onto the world together, So that love can heal, change and evolve us all.  Be here in this moment. Feel the warmth of the massive light in front of you, Feel the connection with everyone around you.  PAUSE… “You can do what I cannot do.  I can do what you cannot do.  Together, we can do great things.” Together, we rise.  Sweet Dreams, Beautiful.

I help Trauma Survivors Break Free Forever (BFF) from survival mode to live a life they truly love. Break Free Forever from the Trauma Drama. I apply the most cutting edge science and evidence based methods in neuroscience coupled with UFH sessions to show individuals how to create a life they truly love by getting into the identity of who they want to be. I use UFH sessions as a starting point for clients or as a stand alone experience.    I have an intimate understanding of trauma through my own existence and journey. I was tired of survival mode. I knew there had to be more to this life than discouraging overwhelm, depression, and people pleasing. I became the change I wanted to see. I reclaimed my power by healing the “trauma drama”. I did not try to fix myself, because I was not broken, and neither are you. I let go of the past with the methods I'm certified in to create the woman I AM, and LOVE today.  I combine all my experiences, knowledge and training to create individual plans and healing maps that are client led. Together we discover the wisdom in the trauma, keep the lesson & neutralize the triggers as we integrate the information in a safe, and gentle way. Cindi Leive is the CEO and co-founder of The Meteor, a new media company for audiences interested in modern feminism. She is also the cohost of the award-winning podcast Because of Anita, about the 30th anniversary of Anita Hill's testimony. Leive is the former editor in chief of both Glamour and Self magazines, roles in which she won multiple National Magazine Awards and an Emmy, and the author and producer of bestselling books including Together We Rise, about the making of the Women's March.   In this episode of Takin' Care of Lady Business®, Jennifer Justice as she interviews Cindi Leive, the CEO and co-founder of The Meteor, a media company committed to using the power of journalism, art, and live experiences to tell stories that matter now to women, girls, and nonbinary people. In this episode, Leive discusses how The Meteor produces podcasts, live events, film, television, and newsletters that cover important topics for women, non-binary people, and allies. From the falling of Roe v. Wade to issues that are often neglected by mainstream media, Leive shares how The Meteor aims to provide crucial storytelling and journalism.   Here is what to expect on this week's show: How media can shine a light on underreported stories, give voice to marginalized communities, and create a platform for important conversations that might otherwise be overlooked. Ways The Meteor utilizes narrative techniques to shed light on complex topics, engage listeners, drive meaningful discussions, and inspire action for positive change. The importance of providing a platform for voices that are often unheard or underrepresented, the impact of centering these perspectives, and the role it plays in fostering inclusivity and promoting social justice.   Quotes: “We're not a magazine. We're not trying to drive anybody to a website, but we are a home for what we think is really crucial, really engaging, and often kind of neglected storytelling and journalism around that that really matter to women right now." – Cindi Leive “The gender gap is too big. The wealth gap is ridiculously big, way bigger than the pay gap. And, our rights are being taken away, and I wanted to be an advocate for women.” – Cindi Leive “I'm always looking for something that's gonna be, you know, a new challenge, a new chapter, a new way of thinking. And I think that keeps you fresh and also, you know, it's just exciting." – Cindi Leive   Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Trigger Warning: sexual abuse and suicidal thoughts. Listener discretion is advised. While scrolling Instagram one night, I ran across a reel that made me stop in my tracks. An organization I have been following and supporting for years called Together We Rise re-shared (with permission) a TikTok video posted by Myra Van Ry, in which she shared briefly about her journey from growing up within a broken foster care system where she is today – starting her career journey as a first-generation college student entering one of the top pharmacy schools in the nation. I immediately messaged Myra and asked if she'd be willing to share her story on the podcast to inspire others, and I am beyond grateful that she accepted my invitation. Our conversation was real, honest, raw, and vulnerable, with Myra sharing insight into her experience within the foster system, adoption into a cult that discouraged education past 8th grade, self-educating herself into college, the unthinkable sexual trauma she endured throughout her childhood, and how she overcame the suicidal thoughts that could have ended her life – all with a selfless and powerful mission of inspiring and empowering others. In Myra's words, “If you ever doubt yourself, DON'T. YOU have the willpower and tenacity to achieve your goals.” FIND MYRA ONLINE:TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@alexandravanry IG: https://www.instagram.com/alexandravanryCONNECT FURTHER WITH ANGIE:Podcast: https://www.yougetwhatimsaying.com Listen Early and Dynamic Ad-Free on Apple Podcasts: https://apple.co/44Y6rbYSocial Media: https://beacons.ai/theactualangie/socialmedia Contact: yougetwhatimsaying.podcast@gmail.com Monetize Your Podcast: https://beacons.ai/theactualangie/monetizeSupport the Show: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/yougetit/membershipADVERTISE ON THE SHOW: To inquire about host-read ads or to become the show's next Presenting Sponsor, please send an email to yougetwhatimsaying.podcast@gmail.com.EPISODE CREDITS:Podcast Logo: Abby MurdockPodcast Cover Photography: April Bowers CreativeBE ADVISED:Formerly titled Podfluencer Society (for before that, 4 Things For Your Podcast), episodes 1-114 share insights and strategies specifically for podcasters.
