In this Florida Man episode of Love and Murder: Heartbreak to Homicide, Ky delves into the bizarre case of Rudy Eugene, infamously known as the "Miami Zombie" or "Causeway Cannibal." This episode recounts the shocking and horrifying attack on Ronald Edward Poppo, a homeless man, by Rudy Eugene, who inexplicably began to beat and then gruesomely chew off Ronald's face in broad daylight on May 26, 2012.Join Ky as she explores the backgrounds of both men, the details of the attack, and the investigation that left some questions unanswered. Was it a case of drug-induced psychosis, or was there something else at play? In World War 1, the Germans perfected chemical weapons by using a bastardized version of the Haber-Bosch fertilization process that revolutionized how food was mass produced worldwide. Its still used today. It was developed by German chemist, Fritz Haber. But, when the war broke out, he found a way to weaponize it, and chemical weapons were born. Fritz Haber was dubbed the Father of Chemical Warfare, and thousands and thousands of soldiers would die as a result of its use. One battle in particular was the Battle of Osoweic Fortress, in Poland. The Russians occupied it, and the Germans wanted it due to its strategic location, and a battle broke on Aug 6, 1915. The Germans deployed the chemical weapons, and this was one of the first times it had been used. The Russians had no protection from it, and most of their battalion was wiped out. But, a group of around 100 Russian soldiers whose insides were being dissolved, charged the field in a bayonet charge. They looked like corpses running at them. The Germans thought they were zombies, and this small band of dying Russian were able to push the German battalion back, and maintain the fortress. When the Germans decided to unleash poisonous gas on the enemy to try and take the fortress they'd been attempting to get for 11 months, the Russians didn't go down without a fight that saved the fortress for another future fight. Movie Meltdown - Episode 192 Sure the zombie apocalypse is upon us... but it's still business as usual here at "Movie Meltdown"! Recorded "live" from the middle of the 8th Annual "Louisville Zombie Attack", we wander the streets with droves of the undead and somehow still manage to deliver our usual movie geek banter.   This event was one of the first of it's kind and has since become one of the largest gatherings of zombies in the country. Last year alone they unleashed between 8000 - 9000 zombies on the city!
