I have decided to take a break from podcasting. After much reflection, I can see that my mind is exhausted from all of the content creation I do on a weekly basis. I write to emails/blogs. I create video clips for courses. I create slide decks for presentations. I create contact for my Facebook Group and try to engage with them. And I create this podcast, which includes recording an episode, getting it transcribed, writing shownotes, video-editing, social media creations, etc. And I've decided it's time to simply parts of my business and all of the “creating” I do in a week. This is not an easy decision because I feel like I'm letting all of you down. But for now it feels like the one that will most serve me when I ask myself, “How do I want to feel in my life.” What's in the episode: How our inner critical fights back when we make decisions that serve our mental health Why rest is a right and not a reward How to make hard decisions and stop dealing with all the “shoulds” How to dial back while also dialing in to your inner self. “It's time to replace the “shoulds” in our lives and ask ourselves, “How do I really want to feel in my life?” If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, I'd love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. In our everyday lives, we spend a great deal of time telling ourselves that we aren't good enough, smart enough, talented enough, or thin enough. Our minds tell us we don't deserve the things we want. Our desires will never come true; even if they do, they will disappoint us. It's called the inner critic―that part of us that judges us, shames us, and makes us feel inadequate And it affects us in very powerful ways. In this episode, Kim explains we get messages from our primary caregivers, society, and our community that tell us how we are supposed to operate in the world. There are invisible rules and expectations of how we are supposed to “do life.” In order to protect ourselves, our inner critic shows up to keep us in line. But the inner critic exaggerates and judges, and while it has our best interest at heart, it doesn't help us or motivate us to change. Instead, it keeps us from being true to ourselves. Kim walks you through 4 layers of self-talk, according to Jack Canfield, and how we can coach ourselves in a positive and more rewarding way. What's in the episode: The role of the inner critic How we are living in the emotional traps we grew up in How our beliefs shape our perceptions of how we show up in the world The 4 layers of self-talk to overcome your inner critic “When guilt and shame are used to control you, you become someone you're not. ”-Kim Strobel If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, I'd love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. We all struggle with the fear of not being enough. We are good at faking it. We go through the world smiling, acting as if we are okay when in reality, we might be inwardly struggling. Perfectionism is striving for flawlessness by setting unrealistically high standards for ourselves. We use perfectionism as a shield to avoid rejection, shame, criticism, and failure. We try to be the perfect worker, spouse, parent, follow the rules, and so on, yet it leaves us feeling exhausted. In today's episode, Kim explains how perfectionism shows up in our lives and provides insight into how to rewrite our stories and begin living a bigger, bolder life full of imperfection that is a truer version of yourself and feels so much better. What's in the episode: What is behind our “not-enoughness” The definition of perfectionism and why it keeps us stuck How the fixed mindset and getting praised for achievements create perfectionism What perfectionism is actually hiding How to rethink our stories and embrace our authentic selves “When you start to make decisions that are more aligned with who you are at your core, you will probably outgrow a lot of people ” -Kim Strobel If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, I'd love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. Shame is a powerful emotion and happens to all of us. It involves looking inwardly in a harsh way with a critical eye while we beat ourselves up even for the smallest mistakes. We are so overly critical of ourselves, and then we hide or bury our feelings of shame when we need to learn to release them with people who have earned the right to hear our stories. Through sharing our stories, we free ourselves from some of the pain we are carrying and holding inside of ourselves. What's in the episode: Why shame needs words and a voice to be free Hustling for worthiness to account for our believed inadequacies Six types of people not to share your shame story with How to exercise compassion towards ourselves and others “You have to love yourself enough to reach out for help and support when going through hard things. ”-Kim Strobel If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, I'd love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. Are you afraid of making decisions? Asking your boss for a raise? Launching your own business? Asking for what you want in your relationship? What prevents us from taking the actions we need in our lives to get to the next level? FEAR! Fear is one of the greatest obstacles to our success because with fear comes uncomfortableness and many people wait for uncomfortableness to leave before they act. In this episode, I'm going to teach you why you must learn to feel uncomfortable, to feel the fear, and do it anyway! What's in the episode: Why “action” is the bridge between our inner world and outer world The inner journey it takes to get the outer results we want How to move from stuckness to action The mindset it takes to play in the arena of bigness “Many times our fears are so strong and dramatic that they keep us stuck. ” - Kim Strobel If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, I'd love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. Ep 80| How Gratitude Increases Happiness Dr. Masuro Emoto discovered that molecules in water are affected by our thoughts, words, and feelings. Humans are made up of 70% of water, which means the words we expose ourselves and others to have an impact on them. He discovered that crystals formed in frozen water with positive words written on them formed brilliant, clear, snowflake patterns while negative words directed toward water formed fragmented, dark crystals. This research proves that when we practice gratitude and send that positive energy towards ourselves, mostly made of water, we get positive results and feel happier in our lives. What's in the episode: The science between thoughts and water How our thoughts affect our lives in big ways The practice of gratitude creates positive emotions and feelings. How to practice gratitude “It's time to build a life you don't feel you have to regularly escape from.” Kim Strobel If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, I'd love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. Is it possible to create more happiness in our life? Should we be interested in happiness, or is that silly? I feel like we all want to be happier, but we are a bit afraid to admit it because it makes us feel like something is wrong in our lives. But creating intentional happiness habits in our lives improves every area of our lives. But are we focusing on the wrong things? Yes, we are much of the time, but I'm about to give you an education on the Science of Happiness. Ep 78| How to get through hard things. Don't take anything personally. That's the second agreement of Don Miguel Ruiz's classic, “The Four Agreements.” He states, “Whatever happens around you, don't take it personally. Nothing other people do is because of you. It is because of themselves.” I've been criticized many times in my life. Many times it absolutely consumed me. But in this episode, I hope to share some insight I've learned over the years and hopefully give you a path through your pain and get you to evaluate it from a new perspective. What's in the episode: A very hard thing I recently went through. How to move through the pain and muck others throw at you How to deal with petty trolls What I differently now when it comes to criticism. “Within every struggle, every obstacle, every challenge, every injustice, we get a choice to decide how we're going to react and how we're going to let it affect us.”- Kim Strobel If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, I'd love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. Burnout is a kind of exhaustion that seeps into every aspect of your life. Even though I travel around the country teaching teachers, business people, and more about how to overcome burnout, I can tell you that I, too, have been experiencing it lately. For me, burnout looks like: The inability to shut work off, even when I should be enjoying time off An incessant need to keep checking my emails The feeling of obsessively thinking about "everything that needs to get done" Tiredness, irritability, and frustration with people around me I recently asked others in my Facebook Group what burnout out looks like to them and got these responses: Knots in my stomach the closer I get to work, despite LOVING my job. Never having satisfaction with my job and never feeling like I'm doing enough. Letting down all of the teachers I'm supposed to be leading, and I feel hopeless. Dreading going to work every day and counting the days until break. Never feeling like I'm meeting expectations. Being so overwhelmed with tasks and asks that I don't even know where to start. Lost desire, unable to focus on anything, and no amount of time off or other activities. Investing in my own business so I can leave my current profession. Overworked (worked daily my entire sick leave), underpaid (completely revamped teaching during COVID/no overtime, no bonuses), and not thought of as a real person. You are allowed to have heavy emotions. It's important to give ourselves the grace to feel the way we do and practice some self-compassion. Even though I sometimes enter the burnout stage, I recognize the signs of when it's coming on, and I have a set of habits that get me out of the gutter quicker. You are not alone in the struggle. I am there too. What You'll Learn From This Episode: How to identify burnout when it's first setting in. Why it's so hard to get off the hamster wheel of life. Why I created a program focused on shifting the inner blueprint of our life. How to leverage your mindset and overcome limiting beliefs. Why our relationship with ourselves is our biggest asset. How to take action to become who you want to be. How to step forward with confidence and discover your greatness.. “If you can't see your own value, the world can't give you value back.” - Kim Strobel Helpful Links Get on the waitlist for The Happy Academy now! As a coach, I've seen that women don't invest in themselves enough. Whether it's time, money, a new pair of workout shoes, or a household nick-nack, women always have a reason why they are not allowed to invest in themselves. As women, we are trained and shown by the other women in our life that we are to take care of everyone else BEFORE we are allowed to honor our own needs. We spend a LOT of time investing in other people – our children, our families, our communities, our schools… but when it comes to investing in ourselves? Forget it. But it's time to flip the script and know that we can value and love ourselves enough to invest in ourselves. We are worthy of starting right now. What's in the episode: Why women struggle to invest in themselves Overcoming feelings of guilt Why self-care and self investing are not selfish Learning to establish boundaries and create space Why you are worth loving yourself “When you take good care of yourself and put resources toward your well-being, your happiness, your success, it means the people in your life get the very best of you.” - Kim Strobel If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, I'd love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. Wow! My interview with my 1992 high school classmate, Angie Carlson, was heartwarming, inspiring, and thought-provoking. Shortly after giving birth to her son, Angie was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) 30 years ago. This disease has left her using a walker, sometimes a wheelchair, and the smallest of tasks takes a monumental effort. It's easy to look at Angie's everyday life and the obstacles she deals with, but she chooses to see her life differently. While she doesn't deny the extreme fatigue, her limitations, or the hardness of it all, she maintains that she is happy in her life because she CHOOSES to be. She describes her highs, lows, and personal triumphs. What's in the episode: Why we must ask ourselves, “How do we want to feel?” Understanding how our thoughts create our feelings. Embracing what is and not resisting. Making conscious decisions that support how we want to live our lives. Advice on how to see things from a different perspective? Choosing abundance, joy, and happiness in the midst of hardness. “I feel like there is no other choice. That's the only choice I choose because I don't want to be unhappy.” Angie Carlson If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, I'd love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. In this interview, I talk with Dr. Melissa Hankins, a 17-year Harvard-trained psychiatrist and certified executive coach. We had a very open conversation about what trauma is, how it affects our lives, and what we can do to heal ourselves. We have all experienced some form of trauma, and many times that trauma plays out in our adult lives. It might affect how we react to our spouse, how we parent our children, and how we navigate our work lives. As Dr. Hankins explained, trauma can affect us in big ways, such as anger, violence, or yelling, but also in not so obvious ways, such as perfectionism, workaholism, and lack of boundaries. Many times it's the root of our very deep wounds, but we can work to heal ourselves and become better for ourselves. What's in the episode: What is trauma, and how does it affect our lives? The difference between Big T and Little T trauma. What is a trauma response, and why would someone have one? What is the key to reshaping our lives? How can we approach trauma, understand its effect, and move beyond to heal? “Even though we are not responsible for the traumas that happened to us as children, as adults, we are responsible for healing them.” Dr. Melissa Hankins If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, I'd love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. When we are uncomfortable setting boundaries, it's easy to fall into patterns like people-pleasing to make sure everyone else is happy. However, this becomes the breeding ground for resentment and anger in our lives. Many of us suffer from our people-pleasing ways. We do it for several reasons: To be accepted and belong, to receive love, and to find validations. We worry that people may not like us, creating a life of self-abandon and resentment. In this episode, Kim speaks to Krista Resnick about creating boundaries to protect our space and our relationships. It's great to make other people happy, but it's more important to please ourselves first by making self-honoring choices. Here are the things to expect in the episode: Are you for yourself, or are you against yourself? Establishing boundaries and aligning with your purpose Why self-compassion and self-care is essential to your success Choosing kindness over judgment And much more! What's in the episode: How do you know when to set a boundary? What fears stop people from setting boundaries? How to lean into discomfort. Krista's top 2 tricks for starting to set boundaries in your life. How to quit abandoning yourself for the sake of pleasing others so you can be free. “Too many times we self-abandon for the sake of pleasing others?” Krista Resnick If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, I'd love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. Gay Hendricks wrote this amazing book called “The Big Leap”. In it, he explains that as humans we all have what he calls an “Upper Limit Problem.” Basically, we have an internal thermostat in our body that says, “I have limited tolerance, for feeling good in my life, I have limited tolerance for how much happiness, I am willing to let myself feel how much love, I'm willing to let myself feel how much success, I'm willing to let myself feel.” Because of our Upper Limit Problem, when things are going good for us, we will self sabotage our ability to all the goodness we want to feel in our life. He explained that have limited tolerance for allowing our life to go well, for a period of time. And when we hit that internal thermostat of being able to feel good or feel success, we do something that stops our positive forward trajectory. The good news….we can change our internal thermostats and reset them to higher levels of success. What's in the episode: What is the Upper Limited Problem and how does it show up in our lives? The ways we self-sabotage and why do we do it. The four zones of work identified by Gay Hendricks The zone of incompetence: In this zone, you are engaging in something you are simply not good at. This is me trying to dance in the ballet. The zone of competence: You can get the job done, but no better than the next person. The zone of excellence: In this zone, you are doing something you are very, very good at compared to most other people. The zone of genius: When you're in your genius zone, are in what author Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi calls “flow.” You're taking advantage of your natural talents and doing what you earnestly enjoy. You have what could almost be called an “unfair advantage” over your competition. “Our internal thermostat setting determines how much love success, creativity, happiness, well-being we allow in our life.” Kim Strobel If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, I'd love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. Kim reflects on a lesson she took to heart this past year, and she reflected on year 48 of her life and what is taught her, how she grew, and the work she's done on herself. She worked on Radical Acceptance, which means that she is working on releasing bitterness and resentment over things she couldn't and can't control. It wasn't easy work, but once she quit resisting the way certain things or people were in her life, she experienced a whole new level of peace and freedom. And because she did this work on herself this last year, she has experienced new levels of abundance, happiness, peace, and wellbeing. What's in the episode: What is radical acceptance and why does it work? How does practicing acceptance free us from the binds that keep us in bitterness? How can we accept ourselves and our situations while also wanting to change in positive ways? What gets in the way of our ability to accept and how to break free. Where our power lies and how to step into it. “I've discovered is that I'm a lot happier and more at peace when I accept people or circumstances or situations as they are rather than wishing it was different.” Kim Strobel If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, I'd love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. A mindset is simply a set of thoughts and beliefs that shape how you make sense of the world and yourself. It influences how you think, feel, and behave. Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck says, “Your beliefs play a pivotal role in what you want and whether you can achieve it. It has a significant role in determining your achievement and success. In this episode, Kim dives into why change is hard and goals keep getting left in the dust. Most of us approach change and goals backwards. We use our logical, conscious mind and think if we can yield enough willpower, we can make it happen. But Kim shares why this doesn't work and the formula she has used to create massive success in her life. She will talk you through Robert Dilts's “Hierarchy of Change” and show you how to reverse engineer the formula for how you go about achieving your goals and creating more success in life. What's in the episode: How our mindsets drive our actions and behaviors. Why you are not your thoughts! The hierarchy of change and the six layers of thinking. Learn to take on the identity right now of who you wish to become “Our beliefs about ourselves greatly influence our life.” Kim Strobel If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, I'd love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. From an early age, we are taught to color inside the lines, and any color that strays outside the lines is considered a mistake to be avoided. We are supposed to do everything right, which carries over into adulthood. Perfectionism is a naturally limiting mindset. Imperfection, however, frees us to live outside the lines, where possibilities are infinite, mistakes are allowed, and self-judgment is minimal. It's not easy to let go of our need for perfection or the old tapes that play in our head that remind us we are supposed to act, do, and perform in a certain way. In this episode, Kim shares her struggle when things appear to go astray and how she is working to transform how she handles challenges in her own life. When we learn to let go of our “expectations” of ourselves, we begin to see that we have the ability to feel better about just being human beings. We can learn to take back our power and plant the seeds of transformation and inner freedom. What's in the episode: What perfectionism looks like and how it shows up in our life. How to pivot when dealing with hard things. Learn to manage your feelings better. Understand how belief systems drive the inner critic The art of allowing our heavy feelings. Three ways to practice self-compassion “We must learn to process our heavy feelings rather than avoid them.” Kim Strobel If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, I'd love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. Have you ever wondered why some marriages seem to flourish while others seem to continually flounder? Do you have a desire to make your marriage stronger and more connected? Research tells us that strong marriages have high levels of friendship and emotional connection at their foundation. But how do we do this when we are trying to raise our kids, work full-time jobs, and manage all of our other responsibilities? In this episode, I interview the dynamo couple, Tarsha and Stan Davis. They are focused on inspiring others to create strong marriages and feel “married alive'' versus the ball-and-chain “buried alive” version. They challenge us to create not “good enough” marriages, but exceptional marriages! What's in the episode: Two important building blocks of a successful and happy marriage. Why active listening and looking for perspective creates trust in relationships. Understanding how our expectations can be honored. Why we need to stop comparing our marriage to others. Conversations make the biggest difference in getting to know your spouse's character and creating emotional intimacy. “You haven't reached the finish line just because you had a wedding day. Cassie Parks is the fairy godmother for people who want to be better with money. She has helped thousands across the globe change their money stories so that they can welcome more money into their lives. Often, we feel like there's never enough money because we've become accustomed to that stress of money. In this episode, Cassie and I discuss the money stories we all tell ourselves and how these stories are the very thing that keeps us from attracting money with ease and flow or actually repelling money. Many of us have felt that there's never enough money, but that's because we've become accustomed to the stress of money. I'm most excited because Cassie discusses the four money story archetypes and helps us identify where we are in our own money story and what we need to do to move out of it and into abundance. What's in the episode: Change your thoughts so you approach money differently Be open to creating more wealth and achieving your dreams Rethink your approach to money and wealth Identify your money mindset archetype Recalibrate your money mindset “A lot of times, we learn there's never enough money because you've become accustomed to that stress of money.” Cassie Parks If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, I'd love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. In this episode, thought leader and manifestor guru, Suzanne Adams, shares her knowledge on the Law of Attraction and how we can use it to manifest our biggest desires. I loved Suzanne's vulnerability in sharing her breakthrough moment while being in the throes of her own ‘dark night of the soul,' which led her to understand energy and create a life full of her biggest desires. Suzanne discussed how our bodies, minds, and souls are made of energy, and we can use that energy to reach our wildest dreams. She gives tips and specific strategies for raising your vibe and stepping into your potentiality, all while creating a life that you love. She also shared the importance of honoring our heavy emotions to process and shift to high-vibe emotions. And that our vibration frequency attracts the people, circumstances, and opportunities into our lives. What's in the episode: What are our biggest dreams, and how do we begin to call them in? The problem was that she wasn't taking that high-vibe energy from her yoga mat into the other areas of her life. Tracy knows all too well the challenges of raising kids and being true to herself at the same time. Her three-year-old son painfully showed her that her life wasn't working and how her own self-loathing and negativity was affecting her son, who then mirrored her behaviors and outlook on life back to her. What would you change about your life at this very moment? What are your biggest dreams? Do you want a different job, a romantic relationship, to lose 15 pounds? We all do it. We all think about the various things we are missing in our lives. The things we don't have and wish would happen for us. When hoping, wishing, and praying, and dreaming aren't enough any more- the universe comes to our rescue. Here's the trick: If you want to change your current circumstance, you must disregard your current state and ignore how others see you. You have to devote all your attention and all that energy you put into hoping and praying into focusing on the life you want. When you shift your focus, you change your vibration. This shift is more than just daydreaming about your perfect life- you have got to go all in. You have to think, walk, talk, and act exactly like the person who has achieved and obtained all those dreams and wishes you hold on to. “Acting as if” sends a powerful message to your subconscious mind that the impossible is possible. Your mind begins to truly believe your dreams are reality and your mind will do the hard work of finding new and creative ways to achieve your goals. It's time to walk the walk, and live the life you have always dreamed. Are you ready to get everything you have ever wanted? Are you ready to Create Massive Momentum this year? In this week's interview with Kim, Andrea walks us through the anger she has felt by “being raised in a culture that told me to quiet down—that my voice, my spirit, my ambition, my most everything was too much.” In the interview, Andrea discusses why we hold back in our lives and how to use the fire in our bellies to burn the whole damn “quiet” culture down. As she states in her book, “Women have been socialized to not make too much noise, put everyone else before us, and to make everyone else comfortable. All of this at the expense of our own values, desires, and dreams. Many times, we don't even consciously realize this is happening. But unconsciously we know. Ep 57 | Men, Sex, & Testosterone with Dr. Adam Brockman Testosterone. It's one of the key hormones that drives some masculine behaviors, such as sex drive and libido. What many don't realize is that testosterone plays a key role in many other factors—muscle tone, belly fat, energy and motivation levels, and sleep. For the last 60 years, testosterone levels have been decreasing for men of all ages, and now many men are now seeking help for low testosterone (or low T). Most men hold a lot of shame when it comes to low testosterone levels as if they have to check their man-card at the door when this topic is brought up. For most men, sexuality and virility are deeply intertwined and any hint of dysfunction or waning testosterone levels is frightening and embarrassing. Many times, it leads to a diminished sense of self-worth and low self-confidence. In this episode, Kim is joined by natural health physician and chiropractor, Dr. Adam Brockman. Dr. Brockman de-mystifies the idea of “being a man,” while helping us understand that low T is much more than low sex drive and libido. He explains the reasons for low T and how men experiencing this are far from alone in their struggles. Dr. Brockman provides both natural and scientific ways to increase wellness and vitality. Kim and Dr. Brockman dig into the benefits of having optimal testosterone levels and how it begins with a simple blood test. They also get into brass tacks advice on what you can do to raise your T levels naturally and when you should visit a doctor for testosterone replacement therapy. Tune in to learn… What testosterone really is and how it functions in the body. Why testosterone steadily decreases with age. Common symptoms of low testosterone and the impacts of low T as men age. Demystifying men, sex, and testosterone. What causes erectile dysfunction in men as early as their 20's. Ep 56 | The System's Mindset: It's Not Willpower, That's the ProblemThis is the last episode of the Mindset Series. We've covered the Happiness Mindset, the Self-Care Mindset, the Belief Mindset, and the Manifestor's Mindset. Now we bring it all together in the System's Mindset. People feel frustrated when they can't take the actions they need to make sustainable progress in their lives. It's not that we lack the ability or the willpower to make healthy changes in our life—it's that we don't have systems or blueprints to follow. We need accountability and a vision for who we want to become. Take a look at the stats. According to The American Society for Training and Development, of people who...Consciously decide to set a goal, only 25% achieve their goal.Decide when they will do it, 40% achieve their goal.Plan how they will do it, 50% achieve their goal.Commit to someone else they will do it, 65% achieve their goal.Have a specific accountability appointment with the person they committed to (a coach), 95% achieve their goal!We gravely overestimate the effect of tiny, small changes in our lives and we give up way too easily because we aren't seeing results fast enough. Believe it or not, you don't have to take massive action to get massive results. In fact, you can treat your life like compound interest and stay laser-focused on an area of improvement, taking small actionable steps to create a ripple effect in your life. Becoming the best version of yourself requires you to continuously extract your old beliefs, and to download a new set of beliefs that match up with the reality you want to create. Tune in to learn more about… Why it's not your willpower that's preventing you from reaching your goals. If you're having trouble with incorporating habits in your life, your system is the problem. How tiny changes create remarkable results. Remember that success is the product of daily habits—not once-in-a-lifetime transformations. The purpose of building a system. How to build good habits and break bad ones. How to shift your internal blueprint to create results. “You do not rise to the level of your goals. Ep 54 | The Belief Mindset: Change Your Thoughts & Change Your LifeTo put it bluntly: if you don't have an internal belief system that supports your goals, you won't be able to achieve those goals. Your beliefs are always driving what you can and cannot achieve in life. Most humans have approximately 70,000 thoughts running through their minds on a daily basis. And from the research, we know that 5% of how you show up in life comes from your logical, thinking mind and 95% of how you show up in life comes from your subconscious mind. Your beliefs reside in your subconscious mind, but most of us aren't even aware of those beliefs because they were formed before we were even six years old. The good news is you can extract old, limiting beliefs and download a new set that will serve every part of your life going forward. Ep 53 | The Self-Care Mindset & Why It's Critical to Your HealthMany of us feel overwhelmed and defeated by life. And we certainly don't feel like we have the time to even think about our own needs. Loving ourselves is a foreign concept for too many of us. Why can we so easily love our children, our parents, and our dogs, but we struggle to love ourselves? Yet, the most important relationship you will ever have is the one you have with yourself. Without adequate self-care, we're unable to handle the stressors that come our way when we're depleted by physical and emotional exhaustion. On the other hand, we're more resilient and capable when we feel our best both physically and emotionally. In today's fast-paced, high-demand world, it's harder to just stop, breathe, and live in the moment. With the right tools and some simple strategies, one has the power to greatly decrease the negative effects of stress and increase personal health, happiness, and wellbeing. This workshop will investigate burnout, how to prevent burnout, and happiness and wellbeing strategies to help you create work-life flow. What You'll Learn From This Episode:Why you are worthy of self-careHow to develop a self-care plan that fits in your scheduleWhy you have to start scheduling yourself firstHow self-care impacts every aspect of our lives How to be more loyal to yourself How to replace feelings of guilt with empowermentWays to implement emotional and physical self-care “We are worthy of investing in ourselves.” - Kim StrobelThe Happy Academy is open for registration! Ep 52 | The Happiness Mindset: Your Happiness MattersAll of us want to be happy, even if we don't want to admit it or we feel like it's a frivolous thing to talk about. Some of us want professional success, to find the right partner, spiritual fulfillment, and others yearn for passion and purpose in their life. However, what holds true among almost everyone is that our culture looks at the happiness formula backward. We think, “If I get that job, then I'll be happy,” or “When I get married, then I'll be happy.” It's a backward mindset. See, when we take the time to recognize the opportunities, abundance, and blessings in our life, we begin to attract strong, better relationships. We begin to grow in our personal lives and our careers. It's important that we let go of the unhealthy, deep-seated assumptions about what happiness looks like and start focusing more on what makes you happy in the here and now. We need to make happiness a priority in our lives. To put it at the forefront of everything we do. What You'll Learn From This Episode:How to shift to a happiness-focused mindset. Simple happiness habits you can form to build your happiness. Why your happiness changes every single outcome—career, business, relationships, money, creativity… How happiness helps you attract your wants and desires. What our happiness baseline is and where it comes from. Ep 51 | The Arena of Bigness: How to Live a Braver LifeMany times we think we are overwhelmed… when in fact we are also underwhelmed. I believe burnout comes from both. When we feel underwhelmed, we feel lost from who we used to be, we no longer know what our hobbies are, or the dreams we want to pursue. Feeling underwhelmed keeps us tied to a job that sucks our soul or stuck in a relationship that continues to bleed us dry. Which is why it's time to step into the Arena of Bigness. The Arena of Bigness is scary. It's where you will fail. It's full of uncertainty and risks. It's where you fall face down in the dirt and wonder, “Will I ever get up again?” But, it's also where you find your true gems, your true potential. It's where you step out with courage and allow yourself to get uncomfortable because you know that's what it takes to get where you need to go. On the other side of fear, vulnerability, risk, and uncertainty, lies greatness. It's time to step into our bigness, together. If you don't step forward with confidence, believing in the power of your dreams, you risk sitting on the sidelines your whole life. You risk never seeing your dreams manifest into reality. Playing small does not serve the world. The world needs your magic. What You'll Learn From This Episode:How to show up, be seen, and live a braver life—you can overcome self-doubt and discover your potential. Why feeling overwhelmed might not be the cause of your discouragement. How courage changes the way we experience life, especially when you no longer care what other people think of you. Understand how your core values lead you to fulfillment or dissatisfaction. Why 90% of your potential is still up for grabs. The price we pay when we choose safety and comfort over risk and uncertainty. Ep 50 | Burnout & Why I Created The Happy AcademyBurnout is a kind of exhaustion that seeps into every aspect of your life. Even though I travel around the country teaching teachers, business people, and more about how to overcome burnout, I can tell you that I, too, have been experiencing it lately. For me, burnout looks like: The inability to shut work off, even when I should be enjoying time off An incessant need to keep checking my emailsThe feeling of obsessively thinking about "everything that needs to get done"Tiredness, irritability, and frustration with people around me I recently asked others in my Facebook Group what burnout out looks like to them and got these responses: Knots in my stomach the closer I get to work, despite LOVING my job.Never having satisfaction with my job and never feeling like I’m doing enough. Letting down all of the teachers I’m supposed to be leading, and I feel hopeless.Dreading going to work every day and counting the days until break.Never feeling like I’m meeting expectations. Being so overwhelmed with tasks and asks that I don’t even know where to start.Lost desire, unable to focus on anything, and no amount of time off or other activities.Investing in my own business so I can leave my current profession. Overworked (worked daily my entire sick leave), underpaid (completely revamped teaching during COVID/no overtime, no bonuses), and not thought of as a real person. You are allowed to have heavy emotions. It’s important to give ourselves the grace to feel the way we do and practice some self-compassion. Even though I sometimes enter the burnout stage, I recognize the signs of when it’s coming on, and I have a set of habits that get me out of the gutter quicker. You are not alone in the struggle. I am there too. What You’ll Learn From This Episode:How to identify burnout when it’s first setting in. Why it’s so hard to get off the hamster wheel of life. Why I created a program focused on shifting the inner blueprint of our life. How to leverage your mindset and overcome limiting beliefs. Why our relationship with ourselves is our biggest asset. How to take action to become who you want to be. Ep 47 | Tools to Help You Ditch Diet Culture with Cassie Riley Part 1In this episode of the She Finds Joy podcast, Kim speaks with Cassie Riley. Cassie is a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach who works with clients by helping them reach their specific wellness goals through healthy meal plans, nutritious food choices, and movement. She helps them create positive behavior change through sustainable health habits that go deeper than just diet and exercise alone. How many times in your life have you tried to lose weight using restrictive diets such as keto, Weight Watchers, the no-carb diet, and so on? How many times have you told yourself, “I’ll start again on Monday?” How many Januarys are you going to restrict yourself from carbs and cookies? For the majority of the people, this never works. Fad diets and diet culture deliver false promises and show us testimonials of former clients on Day 28, but they don’t talk about what happened on Day 31. In this episode, Kim and Cassie discuss why women need to do the inner work of understanding and nurturing our bodies and how to get off the struggle bus when it comes to achieving our wellness goals. Cassie's approach is centered around not counting calories, not stepping on a scale daily, and not restricting ourselves from certain food groups. She discusses why we should create our definition of what we believe a good mom is, and not focus on the definition society has fed us. She asks the important question, “Do you want to be the mom who is modeling to her children what it looks like to enjoy being a mother? Ep 38 | Why Grit and Productive Struggle Lead to Growth Mindset In today’s episode of the She Finds Joy podcast, Kim talks all about Angela Duckworth. Duckworth defines grit as “Passion and sustained persistence applied toward long-term achievement, with no particular concern for rewards or recognition along the way.” In this episode, Kim discusses Duckworth’s research on grit and how it can be the number one determiner of why some people fail—while others succeed—at accomplishing their goals and dreams. Ep 37 | Growth Mindset vs Fixed Mindset: How They Shape Our LivesCarol Dweck, synthesized in her remarkably insightful book, Mindset: The New Psychology of Success — an inquiry into the power of our beliefs, both conscious and unconscious, and how changing even the simplest of them can have profound impact on nearly every aspect of our lives.Dweck reveals in her research that the “fixed mindset” is the attitude or belief that we are born with a certain skill set, aptitude, intelligence, or talent and that we can’t really do much to change or cultivate it. This keeps us from realizing our true potential because we fear failure and truly don’t believe in ourselves. A growth mindset, on the other hand, believes that through effort, perseverance, grit, and determination one can cultivate and improve many of their skills, amplitudes, and intelligence. Mindsets begin at a very young age and they develop certain beliefs about ourselves or create internalized stories that prevent us from being uncomfortable, being willing to stretch and grow ourselves so we can truly find the hidden gems inside of ourselves and step into our bigness. In this episode of the She Finds Joy podcast, learn:How a fixed mindset limits your success. How to foster a growth mindset to unlock your potential. The brain is malleable and can grow and change. Why you’re underestimating your ability and it’s causing “stuckness.”Your thoughts are the driving force of your beliefs. Your beliefs become your actions, and then your habits. Why you must embrace effort, perseverance, determination, and uncomfortableness to grow. “The view you adopt for yourself profoundly affects the way you lead your life.” Carol Dweck, Stanford Psychology professor. Ep 36 | Changing Yourself By 1% Part 2The reason you can’t create behavior change or habit change in your life has nothing to do with you or your willpower. It has to do with your system. Having a goal isn’t enough to achieve the result. And the size of your goal doesn’t correlate with the size of your results. Instead, put your energy into building a system to support your success in your habits. You might have a system for reading each night before you go to bed. A system for when, how long, and where you exercise. Creating systems is the foundation to you implementing new behaviors and habits in your life. This is where you need to spend your energy—in the system. In this episode of the She Finds Joy podcast, learn why:It’s not about goals, it’s about systems. The problem isn’t your willpower; it’s your system. Are you creating an environment or ritual that sets you up for success?Breakthroughs come suddenly after repeating a system, not all at once while chasing a goal.Habits act like compound interest when it comes to getting results.Your outcomes directly correlate with the measure of the habits that you have in your life.Downloading a new set of beliefs changes your next right action. The trick isn’t to have massive willpower; the trick is to create an environment where it’s easier to make the right choices. This is your system. “You don’t rise to the level of your goals, you fall to the level of your systems.” James Clear, Atomic HabitsHelpful LinksHere’s the link to Atomic Habits, by James Clear.About KimKim Strobel is Chief Happiness Officer at Kim Strobel Live Events and Retreats.
