Today I had the privilege to sit down with Mike and talk about many things. I was curious what it was like back in 1999 when ESPN followed him and his teammates around at practice and in school for an entire season. If you are an old school, die hard high school football fan like myself, you may remember when two of the top 2 teams in the state and country squared off in the final game of the season. One was coached by legendary Mike Pettine (CB West) and the other was coached by Mike Pettine Jr. (North Penn). A great piece of PA HS football history that Mike was a very big part of and also aired on National TV. Mike left teaching and coaching a few years back and has an entirely new outlook on life. He is proud of the past and excited for the new days ahead of living a quasi-Amish style life in Bucks County. Not exactly Amish, but he does spend a lot of time in bare feet gardening and being an amazing father to his children. During this 2 hour chat Mike shares some life lessons learned from the late, great, Mike Pettine and of course his son, "JR." We also jump into a new style of preparing/strengthening our bodies for the long life ahead. We both have Tommy John iii to thank for that. Listen in and share if you like it!!!!
Alex Meyers first showed up in my life about 18 or so years ago when I coached him in 9th grade football. Alex's transformations from 9th grade until present day is something you would have to see to believe. As a matter of fact, you can if you follow him in IG @a_meyers215 In H.S. Alex went from not wrestling his freshman year to taking 6th at States as a Senior. He is one of the few students to ever earn a PA State Wrestling Medal from Hatboro-Horsham High School. After HS, Alex found his way into the U.S. Army. He served in Afghanistan and came home with some great friends and life experiences. All along, Alex had a passion for BJJ. He earned his Black Belt a while back and has had quite a few Pro fights in the Octagon. He trains at Saga BJJ (co-owned by his brother Kyle). Listen in this week as Alex gives some insight into what makes him tick, motivates him and why he absolutely cannot stand messy eaters!
Back in 2019 Jack was a kid who roamed the halls of Hatboro-Horsham brightening people's day and always looking for the next big sports story. It was like an obsession. I remember teaching him in school and wondering why he seemed to be so interested in sports. It almost seemed unhealthy. Well, that "unhealthy" obsession turned into a full on career. Jack produces for former NFL player and current media personality, Ross Tucker. He also started a media collaboration with Colin Thomspon, former standout at Archbishop Wood High School. Jack was excited to announce that Colin was recently signed with the Minnesota Vikings. Find out what it takes to get to this level at such a young age. This might surprise you, but it isn't a college degree. Jack spills some secrets to his success and dives into his journey on the road to becoming something unique and special.
It was an honor to sit down and talk with a young man who has achieved so much success in such a short time. Dalton became a bit of a local legend in High School where he was named Gatorade high school basketball player of the year in 2009. From there he played for West Virginia (played in the Final Four) and went on to finish his college career at Temple where his final year he averaged around 18 points per game. This landed Dalton the opportunity to play basketball professionally in Europe. For the last 10 years Dalton has played in several countries including Poland and most recently, Italy. As a matter of fact, he liked living abroad so much that he got married and had 3 children! Humility is something that was portrayed by Dalton in this 75 minute chat. Even with all of the shinning spotlights and big moments on the court, Dalton handles life in a calm manner and is able to always stay positive.

Back in the year 2009ish I had the honor of coaching Lex in the wonderful sport of Football. I got to know him over the next 4 years and watch is struggles and successes. He made his was from HS and found some success in Amateur and Pro MMA. Lex learned just as much from his losses as a fighter as he did his wins. After some ups and downs and having 3 beautiful children Lex found himself wanting to get back into the Octagon. However, there was one problem, Lex weighed in at over 300 pounds. As of today, he is sitting in at around 245 and getting ready to start fight camp in the next few weeks. Lex has a big heart and is constantly working on himself to be better. I learned a lot about him in this 80ish minute sit down. Cheer him on as he is about to step back into something very few of us humans are willing and or capable of doing!

Ava is finishing up her senior year of HS. She has made lots of friends, great memories and left her mark over the last four years. She decided to take her talents and further her education in a place where the syrup flows like a chilled desert spring. A place where beards, flat brimmed hats and modern hippies can be seen instinctively frolicking the campus quad. Perhaps there are more cows in Vermont than people, but it doesn't stop the beaming pride students and citizens of Vermont hold near and dear. Ava will be no exception. Ava talks about the next four years and what that might look like. She might even start up rock climbing so that she can fit in better with the locals. In fact Ava hopes to get really close with the rocks over the next few years. If the mosquitoes don't chase her out of the state, she sees herself working towards a degree in Environmental Science. She loves the planet and wants to preserve the future for generations to come. Although 20-degree weather is known as t-shirt weather in Vermont, Ava plans to make the most of her experience regardless of the temps. Listen in this week as Ava, this weeks "Leader Next Door" shares her perspective on this generation. So grab your maple syrup tap and dig into this weeks tribute and conversation with the great, Ava T.

When I first met Logan in High School, I actually thought he was a substitute teacher; he was only in 10th grade. Logan was a standout athlete on both the football and wrestling teams in HS. Logan's HS was cut short by about 4 months because of Covid. He was never able to finish HS in the normal sequence, and that affected him in a major way. The last few years have been a whirlwind for Logan. He wrestled Division I at Bloomsburg, then got sent home from college from Covid as well. He decided to try a different path to find his purpose. Logan enrolled in the National Guard on Dec. 22, 2020. This is a day he will never forget, as it marked the beginning of a life shift he did not expect. After returning from the military, Logan enrolled locally at Delaware Valley University and joined the wrestling team. He has high hopes to someday compete for a National championship.
