What does revival look like in America's rural communities? John Craft offers a front-row perspective from Wyoming's Bighorn Basin, where churches in towns of just 4,000 people regularly see 250-300 in attendance, many being young families and former Mormons finding new faith in Christ.Craft's journey to this vantage point follows an unexpected path. Growing up in a theologically liberal church where he was deeply involved yet never heard the gospel, his transformation began at a rescue mission Bible study. Today, as Regional Executive Director for Rocky Mountain Church Network (part of Venture Church Network, formerly Conservative Baptists), he travels 35,000 miles annually serving churches across four western states.Send us a textWe want to help you find your next steps in ministry.Connect here with EXCEL. In this Convo of Flanigan's Eco-Logic, Ted speaks with Beth Pratt, the Regional Executive Director of the California Regional Center of the National Wildlife Federation. She is a lifelong advocate for wildlife, and has worked in environmental leadership roles for over twenty-five years. She has also spearheaded the #SaveLACougars campaign to collaborate, fund, and build the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing, the largest crossing in North America—and potentially the world—to help save a population of mountain lions from extinction. The initiative has raised a half a billion dollars in private funding to advance wildlife crossings across California and the country. She and Ted discuss her background, growing up North of Boston, obtaining a BS/BA from the University of Massachusetts, an MBA from Regis University, earning the LEED AP credential, and training with Vice President Al Gore as part of his Climate Reality Leadership Corps. Before joining the Federation in 2011, she worked on sustainability, green building, and climate change programs for Xanterra Parks & Resorts in Yellowstone as its Director of Sustainability. Under her leadership, Yellowstone's environmental programs received environmental achievement awards from the National Park Service three years in a row. Prior to her role in Yellowstone, she served as the Vice President/CFO for the non-profit Yosemite Association (now Yosemite Conservancy) in Yosemite National Park.Although most of her career has been spent in national parks, she shares that her main conservation priority is now focused on urban wildlife conservation and creating coexistence strategies within urban spaces. She believes that the future of conservation is about the integral link between wildlife and people – and cities are vital to forging those links.Di Angelo Publications just released her new book, I Heart Wildlife: A Guided Activity Journal for Connecting with the Wild World in August, and Heyday Books published When Mountain Lions Are Neighbors in 2016. She has given a TEDx talk about coexisting with wildlife called, “How a Lonely Cougar in Los Angeles Inspired the World,” and is featured in the new documentary, “The Cat that Changed America.” Her book, Yosemite Wildlife, with photographer Robb Hirsch, will be released by the Yosemite Conservancy in 2025.

Her outstanding level of service was applauded as "red carpet work" and led to her current role as Regional Executive Director of Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection (HW-SC), a nationally-recognized youth development program which helps at-risk youths stay in school and graduate from high school with the skills and confidence necessary to enter college or the workforce. Her experience with HW-SC as a parent, coupled with her time on the OCC campus, instilled in her a deep appreciation for the Central New York community and a desire to give back.Even though it has been 23 years since the Broome County native was a student on the OCC campus, Shanes still leans on lessons learned here while working as a Youth Development and Leadership Administrator. "I am thankful to OCC for high-quality education, a fun learning atmosphere, and most importantly for the chance to study with knowledgeable, caring professors which provided me with a solid foundation that led me into a successful adult life."Enjoy the podcast! The Alumni Faces ceremony will be streamed live on OCC's YouTube channel and Facebook page Wednesday, October 6 at 5:30 p.m.

Sometimes the best person to teach kids about online safety… is a fat orange cat who loves lasagna… and his friends. Well... he loves his friends, but let's be real... he loves lasagna more   The Center for Cyber Safety and Education, formerly the (ISC)² Foundation, is a global non-profit charity formed in 2011 as a conduit to reach society and empower students, teachers, parents and the general public to secure their online life with award winning cyber safety education and awareness programs in the community. They hold the exclusive global rights to Garfield to teach young children how to be safe and secure online.   Pat Craven is far too selfless to spend any time telling you what he does, so we’re going to do that for him. He and his team have spent nearly a decade helping to educate children, parents, seniors and cybersecurity professionals on the things they can do to protect themselves and their loved ones safe online.   On this episode of InSecurity, Matt Stephenson talks with Pat Craven of the Center for Cyber Safety Education about the work they are doing to provide teachers, parents and seniors with the tools they need to keep themselves and their children safe online. Did we mention that Garfield (yes that Garfield) and his friends are helping out too?   About Pat Craven     Pat Craven (@cravenpat) is the Executive Director of the Center for Cyber Safety and Education. In his prior lives he has served as the Regional Executive Director of Pinellas County / Chief Development Officer Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay.   Pat also was the Vice President of Development for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund in Washington DC.   Prior to that, Pat spent 24 years with Boy Scouts of America in various capacities.   We think it is fair to say that Pat Craven has spent his entire career putting in work to help pretty much anyone besides himself. If you need someone to help you help someone else… Pat Craven is your man. Like we said… he would never tell you this stuff, but we thought you should know.   About The Center for Cyber Safety and Education       The nonprofit Center for Cyber Safety and Education (@ISC2Cares) was founded in 2011 with the purpose of empowering students, teachers and whole communities to secure their online life through cyber safety education and awareness. They achieve this goal by providing Safe and Secure Online educational program, college scholarships and industry research.   Their educational content was developed by the Center along with members of (ISC)², the top cyber security professionals in the world. With their knowledge, the Center turned to legendary cartoonist Jim Davis to bring it all to life, using everyone’s favorite cat, Garfield. The first series of Garfield’s Cyber Safety Adventures tackles issues such as Privacy, Safe Posting, and Cyberbullying. This program is perfect for elementary education and is currently in 14 countries.    In addition, the Center provides educational materials for parents and seniors to grow their knowledge about the dangers of the internet and ensure our mission of making the cyber world a safer place for everyone.   Learn more about their programs at www.iamcybersafe.org   About Matt Stephenson     Insecurity Podcast host Matt Stephenson (@packmatt73) leads the broadcast media team at Cylance, which puts him in front of crowds, cameras, and microphones all over the world. He is the regular host of the InSecurity podcast and video series at events around the globe.   Twenty years of work with the world’s largest security, storage, and recovery companies has introduced Stephenson to some of the most fascinating people in the industry. He wants to get those stories told so that others can learn from what has come   Every week on the InSecurity Podcast, Matt interviews leading authorities in the security industry to gain an expert perspective on topics including risk management, security control friction, compliance issues, and building a culture of security. Everyone knows who we're talking about, right? Well, not exactly. Broad assumptions (e.g., high utilizers of the emergency department) and sweeping generalizations often substitute for more robust inquiries and analysis designed to better pinpoint a hospital or clinic's patients with unmanaged, complex health problems. And, without this specificity, it's hard to know who will benefit most from additional supports and interventions. This is among the reasons why an IHI Collaborative involving some 45 health care organizations has been focusing like a laser this past year on developing reliable ways to identify patients with complex needs. It's hard but necessary work, and we explored just what that hard work entails on this WIHI.
