Thin Jim and the Castaways - Leaves still green. Duffy - Warwick Avenue. Queen - Somebody to love. Herbert Guðmundsson - Lífið. Dikta - Thank you. Christine and the Queens - People, Ive been sad. Happiness is a state of mind. Ive been guilty of living life on the deferred payment plan. Waiting for something to make me happier when I got there. Once I understood that life is a series of problems, constant ones. Its internal, its not objects, but thoughts and your attitude thats influenced by your environment, individuals and your own activities. We are programmed to always react because that all we know. "We are disturbed not by the things that happen, but our opinion of the things that happen". Once you learn that you are in control, you'll start taking control. I'm no self help guru these are just my experiences that I hope will help you, its a constant learning procress

In John 6, Jesus gives His disciples a clear instruction, Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted. In America, we waste a tremendous amount of food every month. Today, host Rob West and Steve Moore talk about just how much food we waste on average, and efficient ways to cut our losses. Using data collected from 4,000 households, researchers at Penn State have determined that the average U.S. household wastes 32-percent of the food purchased. The average family spends nearly $2,000 dollars on wasted food. Pay attention to storage life of food and save the food that lasts longer for later. If you have children, give them smaller portions to reduce waste. You can always give them seconds if they are still hungry. Always keep a shopping list, and make sure to check the fridge and pantry for things you already have before heading to the store. Pay attention to the contents of your freezer. Meats often get freezer burn from being in there too long. Think before you toss out food, Is there a way to turn these scraps into part of a meal? Here are a couple of questions we answered from our callers on todays program: I volunteer at a recovery center where I help men in recovery set up budgets and understand principles of financial management. I often get questions about debt and low credit scores that I dont know how to answer. Are there some ways to help them improve their credit scores when they cant commit to regular payments on their existing debt? (Rob mentions ChristianCreditCounselors.org). I have a large family and a full-time job. Ive been just barely keeping above water financially for more than 30 years. How do I continue to be content with this? To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/1085/29 Do I need a financial advisor? Proverbs 19:20 says, Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. This advice is especially important when it comes to money and how you manage it. Today, host Rob West talks with Kingdom Advisors founder Ron Blue to discuss the necessity of having a financial advisor and what to look for when choosing one. Your financial advisor should share the same values and worldview as you so they ask you the right questions. You cant get the right answer from the wrong question. Ron says the main thing his financial advisor does is keep him accountable. Financial advisors should have no bias except to help you and guide you. Your financial advisor should want more than anything else to help you identify your goals, values, and priorities. They should then base their advice around that. Its always good to know who your financial advisor has worked with in the past in order to judge how well they will work with you. Here are a couple of questions we answered from our callers on todays program: How do I pass my home down to my son without paying capital gains tax? Ive never invested in the stock market and my family is telling me now is a good time to do so. I dont know much about the stock market and Ive gotten differing answers on whether or not to invest. So often there's a tendency to get entangled in their struggle, getting stuck in a loop of trying to 'help' them out of it, which has a hell of an impact on many levels. Ive had a lot of questions lately about this (since I posted about our family earlier this week), and so I recorded this conversation for the podcast this week: HOW TO LOVE SOMEONE WHILE NOT GETTING TANGLED UP IN THEIR STRUGGLE I think this is a bloody important conversation for SOO many people. Its not easy. It not fun watching someone we love go through a hard season. However, trying to 'fix' them won't help either, and in fact, can do more harm than good.

In my opinion the hormonal damage that ensues in every case of water fasting Ive seen just isnt worth it. Do your hormones heal? To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/1085/29 Have you ever wondered if your investments give glory to God? Luke 21:15 says, For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. Now more than ever, we see this with faith-based investing. Christian shareholders are speaking out in some of the worlds biggest companies, seeking to change policies that oppose biblical principles. Today, host Rob West talks with investing expert and CEO of Inspire Investing, Robert Netzly, about shareholder engagement and the battle for biblical principles in the boardroom. Many companies take corporate profits and use them to advocate for certain causes or issues, generally representative of the stances of the executives or the board and not the stances of the shareholders as a whole. Netzly talks about partnering with friends and investors to challenge big corporations in their support of certain movements, and how they succeed in making biblically guided changes. Many faith-based conservatives have taken issue with the stances of Chevron, Costco, and especially Amazon; Netzly talks about how he helps find resolutions with these companies. Rob mentions that the other side to faith-based investing is embracing the companies that make positive impacts on the world, and recognizing the good that they do. You can find out more about what Inspire Investing does at InspireInvesting.com and check out their free tool for evaluating companies at InspireInsight.com. Holidays, festivities, traditions, rituals.... they provide us with a sense of normalcy, connection, community and peaceful balance so importantly necessary ESPECIALLY during times of stress like this pandemic. As we ease into another change of season including the election in the US, we can look at celebrations like Halloween to offer us some stability. An important aspect of Halloween- at least how Ive rasied my kids with it- includes the freedom and practice of offering children the opportunities to be empowered with their costumes, where they trick-or-treat at, and the management of the candies they collect... leading to them being able to make healthy decisions for themselves as they grow up rather than being dependent on others to always make their choices. Happy Halloween everyone! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/lee-anne-francois-dornbus/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/lee-anne-francois-dornbus/support

Just days out from the election, Grill'd is taking aim at Trump's dietary habits, saying 'You are what you eat'.

Vegans in 2020 are the some of the weakest and most anemic Ive seen in the last 19 years being a vegan athlete. What is causing this fatigue? Many things but the main one is fear of sucrose courtesy of Jamie 'Jiggly Rolls' Oliver and his 'sugar tax' nonsense which has grown into a world wide fad where sugar is the social pariah and fat gets to keep bulging the waistlines of millions around the world. Blaming sugar for obesity is like blaming a rock for a broken window INSTEAD of the person who thru it. We punish the rock and praise the person who threw it. Yes it is that crazy. Dietary sucrose insufficiency is the main cause of fatigue in humans. Other causes are dehydration, stimulant withdrawal, mental fatigue etc. In this video we touch on all fatigue triggers with the goal to help you understand your body better. I didnt learn this stuff from reading text books. I learned it from riding across continents, solo, unsupported and stimulant free. I learned it the right way and that is why I can speak with such conviction. Grab some water, grab some carbs and enjoy!

Bragging On Jesus

Bragging On Jesus

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 19, 2020 8:01

Proverbs 29:1 He who is often reproved, yet stiffens his neck, will suddenly be broken beyond healing. 2 When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan. 3 He who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth. 4 By justice a king builds up the land, but he who exacts gifts tears it down. Today Solomon takes a look at some commonalities between a wicked person and a wicked Nation. First let’s consider the individual that is prideful… that's what the metaphor of having a stiff neck indicates. He is set in looking at life the way he wants to in his heart and will not turn his head towards the truth. You know when you stiffen your neck or any joint in your body and you hold it tight as heavy stress is placed against it… there is a possibility of injury. And the thing is… truth will not back down. It presses down hard against every lie and every worldly promise of satisfaction. It eventually breaks every person who holds a stiff neck because truth always persevere and is always proved right. We see it individually here on earth in the course of our life as we follow false pursuits and if we keep a stiff neck we will see it on judgment day and on into eternity. So just as wickedness brings pain and brokenness to individuals it also breaks Nations. We see it over and over through recorded history in the Bible with Nations like Egypt and so many of the evil Nations they encountered in their wilderness travels and not only them but all along the way Israel also experienced much neck trouble when they stiffened their neck to the ways of God. Even students of modern history look back and see these same consistencies among nations who have turned away from God and embraced self serving ways. Solomon says how when the wicked are calling the shots for a whole Nation it causes the people to groan. And you know what?… real bodily neck trouble can cause a person to really groan... Am I saying truth? If you’re like me you know the answer to that. Ive had lots of neck problems in my life.; first as a young boy and then again and again many times. You may know how hard it is to find the right spot to hold your head and you have to wear a brace especially when you lay down and you can hardly drive because you have to move your whole body to look to the right or the left. Just as it is with an individual... A nations neck begins to stiffen its a sign that lots of groaning is in their future. In closing lets look at what Solomon goes on to say about an individual and nations both in regards to those without a stiff neck to God: 3 He who loves wisdom makes his father glad,… 4 By justice a king builds up the land,… So… then there are some who have a neck that is not fixed in cement to go their own way… Instead, they hear God’s word, turn away from wickedness and trust in God… (turning from sin is called repentance and trusting God is faith). That’s cool right? Even in Solomon's day one can see how wickedness and trusting in self brings brokenness beyond healing and looking away from the promises of sin and to God with faith brings salvation. We see the Gospel in the Old Testament over and over. As for the individual... Solomon says how if his son loves this kind of wisdom it makes his father or him... glad… Receiving the Gospel manned our Father in heaven glad as well. As for a nation that trusts God… they give truth its place of honor and therefore justice… Solomon says how this does not break the nation beyond healing but rather builds up the land. Pray

Like much of Proverbs, that verse is a lesson for handling our financial affairs. Managing money wisely requires good habits. Today, host Rob West explores how to do that with financial expert Howard Dayton. Then its your calls at 800-525-7000. Howard Dayton offers his wisdom and explains his daily routine to exercise and eat healthy to stick to his disciplines. He goes for a 4 mile walk with his wife 6 days a week, and every other day he does 5 sets of 100 push ups for a total of 500 during the walk. Together, Howard and his wife enjoy eating healthy to stay on top of a healthy eating lifestyle. When talking about how long it took to get into these good habits, he says, It all started to change when I was introduced to Jesus Christ as my savior way back in 1971. Before then, I was a lot less disciplined. And the more Ive grown as a follower of Christ, the more disciplined Ive become. Galatians 5:22-23 describes the fruit of the Holy Spirit. In other words, what characteristics we can experience and enjoy when we are submitted to Gods spirit and allowingHimto live His life through us. It says, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness andself-control. So, submit to Gods Spirit and ask Him to live His life through you. Then develop a plan that you can follow. And for most of us, it helps is we have a buddy with whom you can work the plan together. In specific studies about habits, routines take at least 30 days to develop. And the longer it becomes part of your routine, the more likely you are to continue. Proverbs 21:5Steady plodding brings prosperity; hasty speculation brings poverty. In other words, just be a consistent steady plodder. When you start walking dont try to run a marathon. When you start using a budget, just take it one day at a time until it becomes a habit. Here are some questions we answered from our callers on todays program: My daughter is expecting a child. She has some money that she would like to invest for her child. Where should she put it? My son and his wife have been married two years. He has just accepted a job. He is still under our health insurance, but his wife is going to turn 26 soon. This reminded Hank of Democratic Presidential Nominee Joe Bidens address to the Million Muslim Votes Summit, an event hosted by Emgage, an organization founded and led by the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas, including Emgages current Co-Chairperson Khurrum Wahid, a former legal advisor to the Hamas-linked radical Muslim organization Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR). During his address, Biden lauds Islam as one of the great confessional faiths and wish[es] we taught more in our schools about the Islamic faith. As noted in the article, Bidens running mate Kamala Harris seems enamored with Islam as well. In fact, she has gone out of her way to laud Islam, most notably CAIR, writing in a personal letter to the organization, Please accept my gratitude and admiration for your tireless work to promote peace, justice, and mutual understanding. For Harris to say that CAIR promotes peace, justice, and mutual understanding is what is referred to in Islam as taqiyyareligious dissimulation. Although CAIR is notorious for its practice of taqiyya, many U.S. politicians like Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Talib, have no problem aligning with a group that supports provocative tactics and the terrorism that flow from such tactics. If there is a glimmer of optimism in all of this, it is the hopeful possibility that there may be millions of devout Muslims who could not so much as imagine trodding the path of Taqiyya. In concert with multitudes of non-Muslims, devotees likely regard the religious dissimilation tactics of Biden, Harris, and CAIR to be cringeworthy at best. Hank also answers the following questions: What is the proper posture for prayer? Ive heard a lot about Obamas views towards Israel and things of that nature, but havent heard many pastors bring up Trumps views towards minorities. What are your thoughts on this?

Matt Schofield talks about his blues rhythm and In The Jam guitar lessons available on TrueFire, performs, and answers questions. To learn more and watch the video from this live session, please visit truefire.com/live.About Matt:Though he holds a British passport and is an inductee of the British Blues Hall of Fame, Matt Schofield has been making his mark globally as one of the top players in the new class of six string wunderkinds. The Los Angeles Daily News wrote, In Schofield, the UK has produced the best Blues guitarist from any country in decades head and shoulders above the herd, while Guitar & Bass Magazine rated him in the top ten British blues guitarists of all time ranking him with icons Eric Clapton and Peter Green.Born in the industrial city of Manchester and raised amongst the rolling hills and locked in time Cotswolds, Schofield began playing guitar at the age of 12.My dad relocated to America, but before he left he gave me a BB King video. I watched it before school every day; it was three or four tracks from a concert. Later, when I was in California with my father, he showed me BB King with Albert Collins and Stevie Ray Vaughan on video. It was like; Ive got to do this. Theres something about the way the three of them were jamming. B.B. really was majestic. As an 11-or 12-year-old watching him, I was mesmerized but didnt think there was any way I could ever do that. It was too special. But when I saw Stevie Ray Vaughan playing with him, I thought maybe I could. Stevie made it seem accessible to people. I taught myself, working my way through my Dads great blues record collection. I did my first gig age 13, and Ive been doing it ever since. At age 18 he left the countryside and moved to London. There, as a sideman, he was able to hone his skills as backing a great variety of experienced and well known artists of the British Blues scene, visiting American artists, as well start touring internationally. The introspective, well read (lover of science, history and philosophy) and passionate Schofield said, this enabled me to stay close to my roots while learning my trade and exploring a variety of musical frontiers.By age 25 I was starting to explore my own band projects. Although my formative guitar influences are the largely the old school blues players, I never wanted my own music to be constrained by a rigid formula, or even genre. I just want to play Matt Schofield music. Classic Jazz, funk, soul and rock and all the music I love have all found their way into it. The process of writing and singing has become increasingly important to me, and I feel its those other aspects of creativity that helped define my own voice on the guitar. Its always been important to find a context for the guitar to be part of, so that its not just guitar solos for their own sake.I remain a music lover first and foremost. The recognition Ive received from both fans and peers is humbling and inspiring, and those pinch me moments where I found myself trading licks with heroes like Robben Ford and Buddy Guy are still the biggest thrill. Now after five studio albums and a solid 10 years of touring with my own band, I have definite broader concepts I want to explore. Remaining open to where the music might take me while maintaining the excitement that improvising and collaborating with talented musicians allow, is key to me. My inspiration and goals came from many places: My influences old and new, including musicians I have wanted to collaborate with for years. Things I still feel I hadn't fully realized on previous studio records, and a need to keep pushing myself. It all meets at the place where Im heading now. Im always aiming to go as far as possible to capturing the same connection with the listener that I aim to make at a live show or on record. Thats the goal. Capturing that special moment."

Rei- Higher PowerKi- Universal Life Force EnergyYou know when a mom puts their hands on their children when they are in pain and need comfort. Reiki is very similar. Not for the logical mind, its for the heart, Reiki just helps you connect to your own personal empowerment. No religious connotation. Comes from unconditional love. I offer reiki session in person and virtually and I've seen so much progression from my clients from the beginning of their journey. You don't have to believe that it works, you just have to be a willing participant. Starts within, and step one is to start healing yourself. No one ever gets cured or immune, but if you implement healing practices such as reiki, you can build strength.
