"Armageddon part 3" finds Barry hiding out in the Hall of Justice with Jefferson Pierce. He believes it's time to enact the Injustice protocol. The League set it up in case any of our heroes went rogue and became a danger to the world. Black Lightning is the only one that can help sever Flash from the Speed Force, but he's not entirely convinced that it's the right decision. Meanwhile, Cecile is determined to find Barry but doesn't want to hear Iris's theory that Joe isn't really dead. Instead the determined attorney calls upon the help of the Top to combine their psychic abilities to track down their missing teammate. And Iris works with Allegra to discover something shocking about Joe's fateful day. The only option left to solve all of this chaos is for Barry to travel to the future and find out what's really going on. But what he finds may push him to the brink. Jay and Josh try to remove each other's powers only to discover they don't have any on this week's episode of Scarlet Velocity: A Flash Podcast!

Barry asks Jefferson to permanently remove his powers. He begins to, but stops when Barry mentions Despero. Barry lashes out and the two fight, but Jefferson convinces him to stand down. Meanwhile, Iris suspects that Barry was framed and that Joe's supposed death was a set-up. At the train station where Joe was struck, she and Allegra discover a unique set of coincidences that suggest foul play. She also begins to see temporal particles, so she meets with Deon Owens, who discovers that someone tapped into the Negative Still Force to change the timeline and kill Joe. Concurrently, Cecile coerces Rosalind Dillon into helping her find Barry. In order to improve Chester's process, Dillon tells Cecile to suppress her grief, but Caitlin Snow convinces her to embrace her love instead. Despero turns on the particle accelerator, absorbs its power, and attacks Cecile's group. He learns Barry's location and travels there, but is held off by Jefferson, Iris, and Deon. Despero informs Barry that he will lose himself to madness. The next day, Barry investigates an insane security guard, but Kramer forces him to turn in his badge due to a federal investigation suggesting that he was a CCPD mole for Joseph Carver. Later, S.T.A.R. Labs is raided and shut down after a radiation spike, so Barry has Gideon erase everything (including herself) while Chester and Allegra move their tech. Meanwhile, Alex Danvers helps Team Flash research Despero's home planet of Kalanor and his power source, the Flame of Py'tar. Allegra learns that Frost asked Chester to build a weapon to harm Despero despite his pacifism. Later, Barry goes after psychic meta-criminal Xotar, but she causes him to go insane and attack Team Flash, though he is able to place the power-dampening cuffs on her during a jewelry heist. Barry suggests they celebrate with Joe West, but Team Flash informs him that he died six months prior. News footage shows Barry attacking residents of Central City after Xotar had been depowered, but Barry does not remember this or Joe's death. In "Armageddon part 2" Barry has very little time to prove to the alien Despero that he won't lose his mind and destroy the world. When a bank guard begins to lose his mind, the team thinks it may be connected to the scenario Despero has described. After discovering that a powerful telepathic meta named Xotar is responsible, Barry goes after her, only to find himself attacking his friend and destroying his home. And then, without warning, STAR Labs is ordered to be closed down and demolished. Without a home or a clue as to Barry's odd blackouts, it looks like Despero may have been correct. “Supergirl” is in its 6th and final season on the CW. Since Season 4, Azie Tesfai has played James Olsen's sister Kelly Olsen. Her character's arc includes a relationship with Supergirl's sister Alex Danvers and her new quest as the superhero vigilante Guardian. Tesfai makes her debut as Guardian in the 12th episode of season 6, an episode which Tesfai herself co-wrote. Doing this made Arrowverse history as the first actor in any Greg Berlanti-produced series to pen an episode on any of his shows. Desfai is the first Eritrean/Ethiopian actress to play a superhero EVER. Azie added some personal touches to the episode, including her character exiting an Ethiopian restaurant with her mother's name in the opening scene of the episode, an homage to her Ethiopian mother, who had life-long dreams of opening her own Ethiopian restaurant. Azie was also very involved in every element of creating her costume for the Guardian—making sure to utilize the gold of her Eritrean roots. Tesfai is best known for playing homicide detective Nadine Hansan in the critically acclaimed, Golden Globe-nominated series “Jane The Virgin,” which ran for five successful seasons on the CW. Frank and Tim return to discuss Kara's return, Andrea Rojas's tactics, and a sorry excuse for a Roomba. SUPER FRIENDS REUNITED! – As Supergirl and Zor-El make their return to National City, they are determined to keep the Phantom Zone behind them and enjoy being superheroes together. Unfortunately, their overzealous efforts backfire, creating a whole new threat to National City.

Midvale is the small town where Kara Zor El became Kara Danvers. A place where she found a new purpose. Alex Danvers' life was easier before Kara crashed into it. She had two loving parents and not so much responsibility. Now her mother expects her to be a good Earth ambassador and make sure her sister is safe and happy. Maybe that part would not be such a hardship if she hadn't lost her father to achieve that goal.  Alex has never had a sister before but she promises to get better at it. The first time we visit Midvale two broken hearted women are returning to their childhood home for some comfort. It is there that we learn that the death of Kenny Li in high school really brought Alex and Kara closer together. It was the first time they worked together to make the world a better place. It was a story told through a flashback so no harm was done to the timeline. In season six we get another Midvale based story. However this one involves time travel in a post crisis world.   In order to save Kara from the Phantom Zone they need a sample of her blood.  Nia and Brainy head to 2009 to save their Maid of Steel. It is a reality where Kenny Li has survived. Yes that also means the sisters don't form that initial bond as a consequence of his murder.   However, the Green Butterfly is not concerned. In any timeline, through any twist of fate, these two sisters will find their common ground. They are destined to make the world a better place. Kara is the Paragon of Hope but she does not stand alone. Right beside her stands Sentinel, always watching and protecting as a good big sister does.

Tim and Frank recap the "nightmarish" mid-season finale Fear Knot. See you in August for the conclusion of the final season! As the Super Friends brave the Phantom Zone to bring Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) home, each member of the team is confronted by visions of their worst fear.

THE FLASHBACK TO MIDVALE INTRODUCES A YOUNG CAT GRANT – Nia (Nicole Maines) and Brainy (Jesse Rath) attempt to save Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) from the Phantom Zone by time traveling back to Kara’s home in 2009. While determined to secure the item needed to help Supergirl, Brainy is worried about keeping a low profile so as not to alter the future timeline. However, when their ship crashes upon arrival, a young Kara Danvers (guest star Izabela Vidovic) is the first on the scene. Meanwhile, a young reporter named Cat Grant (guest star Eliza Helm) sets her sights on Midvale as she suspects there is a big story in the small town. Frank and Tim break down the penultimate episode of Season 5 and look ahead at the season finale.

Tim and Frank are back from hiatus to discuss Melissa Benoist's directorial debut and the evil genius that is Lex Luthor.

The citizens of National City have found a new solution to dealing with pain and trauma. The answer to solving their problems is to lose themselves in the virtual world.  According to Obsidian North virtual reality is perfect for dealing with stress and working out your problems. Maybe even make your wildest dreams come true. What if you were to get lost? What if you couldn’t find the way out?  What if what started as virtual reality is reality to you now? Alex is in pain from the loss of Jeremiah. She was so close to her father they could finish each other’s sentences. He depended on her for many things. She was expected to help her mother and look out for her little sister. Jeremiah often treated Alex like an equal. Often forgetting that she was just a child herself. Alex screams that she has lost him so many times she does not feel compelled to accompany Kara to Midvale to bury their father and comfort their mother.  She also pushes Kelly away. She is making it clear that she just wants to be left alone with a bottle of wine. Since Kara has left for Midvale, William enlists Kelly to help in his investigation. He believes there is some nefarious motive for the Lex Luthor world tour.  Kelly is still wondering why her concerns with the faulty virtual reality fail safe button have not been addressed. Andrea says the service request is hung up in the board of directors and she will take care of it. William tracked down a warehouse address linked to an IP address. While William continues to investigate. Kelly goes to check on Alex.  Alex has decided to escape from the real world for a while into the virtual world of her choice. What if she were Supergirl?  At first she is excited to expel some of her anger by punching stuff. However when a dragon attacks the City she realizes that some of Kara’s powers are not as easy to use as they look. When she discovers that Kara was taken by Hank Henshaw she springs into action. Helping her sister and the City is second nature to Alex both in this world and in reality. Kelly finds Alex on the couch. The contact lenses have turned red. Something is wrong.  Alex is not responding to the shot of adrenaline. Time for the next step. Kelly must go in and pull her out.  Alex is so deeply involved in the event taking place in the virtual world that she refuses to believe that what she is experiencing is not real.  She always had to depend on herself so maybe another version of Alex can convince our Alex to return to the real world.  When William makes it to the warehouse it appears empty. Sometimes what you see can be deceiving. When William finds an identification bracelet on the ground he knows he has to keep looking. There is more here than meets the eye. Young Alex is able to tell her older self exactly what she needed to hear. Even if Alex was Supergirl she still couldn’t have saved her father. She is not Kara and she doesn’t have Kryptonian powers but Alex Danvers is a hero. Every day she protects her City, helps her sister and mother and loves her girlfriend. That is the kind of woman she is. Many questions still remain. Where is Lena?  What is Lex doing with these satellites? What about Gemma Cooper? Why is the failsafe not fixed?  Is it because they want to lock people in this dream world? Is this warehouse where Margo is watching over people lost to the real world?  Is she the only one? Alex talked to some people inside virtual reality that were losing their sense of self. Could there be more? Until next time National City. This is your eye in sky Green Butterfly. "Back From The Future Part Two" brings us back to Winn and his father's dark cloud over his son's life.  With Supergirl's help Winn finds the way to bring closure to his father's story and redeem the name of Toyman.  Also, Alex stumbles into Brainy's meddling into things at the DEO and the Luthor siblings move things more in their direction of non nocere and the defeat of Leviathan.  Or so they think...  This week we present a quatro of duo's...   Supergirl and Winn find Toyman's Closure It's karaoke night at Al's and Winn, who we learn is Computer Lad in the Legion, has put down 42 pot stickers already - hey, they don't have these in the 31st Century, don't hate - William comes through the door, because Kara couldn't not invite him after Game Night (duhhhhhhhhh).  They duo on the band Toto's "Africa," which hopefully shall never be spoken of again.  A 9-1-1 comes to Alex about a situation at the DEO so she, J'onn, and Winn go to check it out.  Leaving Kara and William.  Together.  (Insert head smack...here)  Winn comes running back calling for Super-Kara, "she's super," he says to William.  "Sure," is William's reply.  BWAH!  An emergency has come up with her DeeeeeeEeee Oooooold Grandmother and Alex needs her now.  Drones are wreaking havoc around the office and Brainy is already engaged in battle as the trio arrives and puts a stop to the drones' fun.  Brainy starts putting together that (back in Part One) Evil Winn put himself into the laptop that the DEO confiscated and now he's working his way into their system with the goal to get out into the world wide web and do some real damage.  It turns out that the code to accomplish all of this was written by Winn and his father was really excited about the work and tried to take the idea for himself.  The only option is to find the server where Evil Winn is hanging out and fry it.  Supergirl and Winn try to figure it out and come across Winn's father (the OG) Toyman who says he wants to help them and Winn is...doubtful.  When Winn can't get the kill code to be accepted by the server he figures out that he can also enter the digital space and kill the code from the inside, because he's Computer Lad.  Along the way Winn and Supergirl talk about the possibility of her relationship with William and he tells her the story of why he wrote the code that they're now trying to stop.  Winn goes into the Tron-world and finds the space where he needs to find the code.  The space is an empty DEO.  He also finds his father trapped in the conference room.  Evil Winn and Winn battle while Dad says he can help and he wants to because Evil Winn is way beyond anything he ever wanted to do.  Winn eventually trusts him.  He traps evil Winn and our Winn deletes the code, which deletes both Toyman Dad and Toyman Evil Winn.  In the aftermath Winn decides to change his Legion title to Toyman to honor the sacrifice of his father and he and Supergirl leave each other with him giving her the advice she needs as far as future relationships.  Winn takes off in his Legion ship. Brainy and the Alex Danvers Problem Lex tells Brainy that he's going to have to deal with the Alex Danvers problem.  Brainy isn't quite sure what he's referring to but he does deactivate her access to the spyware that she is using to keep track of what Lex is doing around the DEO.  She discovers it and confronts Brainy saying that ever since he's become disinhibited that it seems like he's hiding something.  He admits his subterfuge with her equipment and explains that he is shielding her from Lex and what he might do.  She accepts the explanation and lets it go.  Winn also confronts Brainy about Lex's plan and Brainy explains that while he has to work with Lex for the future that he is still working for the good of the team.  Finally, Lex asks Brainy to copy Toyman's code so that Lex can use it as an advantage against Leviathan.  Alex and the DEO staff are working to deactivate all of the smart weapons that Toyman can use against them and has a rough conversation with Lex about the situation.  She finds Lex-O Suits at the DEO and they have to fight them to keep Toyman from using them to escape the DEO lockdown.  After all is said and done Alex decides that she has to leave the DEO because of Lex.  Brainy hands over the code to Lex and tells him that the Alex problem has been solved.  Lex promotes Brainy to Director Querl Dox of the DEO.   The Luthor Siblings Get Their Groove Virtual Andrea Rojas sits down on a virtual chair at a virtual table to eat a virtual lobster.  And she goes into anaphylactic shock.  She wakes up and there is Kelly Olsen - Oh, hi Kelly!  It seems there's a problem with the bio-interface for the new fangled Obsidian North Lenses 2.75 model that causes the body to react in a toxic type fashion.  Just in time Lena Luthor is at Andrea's office ready to assist in making the new generation lenses less toxic.  Andrea says she'd hate to put their friendship at risk again so the answer is no, thank you.  Lex gets the background info he needs on Gemma Cooper and stalks her at a local restaurant and proposes that they get in bed together - business wise, of course.  He sells her that he's got the people and the tech help that Obsidian needs but Andrea stands in the way.  Gemma, as Chairman of the Board, goes to Andrea and shames her into taking Lena's help.  Lex also asks Lena if he can help with her project.  She says she doesn't need anyone murdered and he firmly states that he has lots of other skills!  She is shocked by his caring about feelings and asking for permission and other basic humanity type things.  It's truly a new world, he says.  Andrea calls Lena and gives in.  Lena later talks with Lex and asks what he did to make Andrea come on board and he truthfully says that he brought it up to Gemma who applied the appropriate pressure.  We see Gamemnae and Margot sitting together and G tells M to let "The Anointed One" that the Authors are right where Leviathan wants them.   Tis Better Not To Have Lied and Loved than Never To Have Loved At All... William asks out Kara on a date after the karaoke that shall never again be referenced.  Without answering him she has to lie about her DeeeeeeEeee Oooooold Grandmother to leave the bar.  She later tells Winn that because her friendship with Lena blew up because of the deception about her identity there's no way that she's starting a relationship based on lies.  Winn's like "why are we talking about a relationship?  Let's just start with a date and see if it's something you want to even pursue.  Baby steps, baby steps."  Later at CatCo she approaches William probably to say yes to a date but before she can say anything he pulls out a puzzle he bought for sick Grandma and Kara nervously says she just doesn't feel that way about him.  She and Alex commiserate on her couch that she flubbed it and there's a knock on her door.  Who's there?  Mr. Mxyzptlk! Conclusion There are times when you get back together with a friend that you haven't seen in years and you pick right back up where you are just like you never left.  That was Winn and Super-Kara in this episode.  Winn knows Kara and Supergirl in ways that others simply do not and the writers and director were able to bring us back into that space with them so comfortable with each other once again.  They were also able to build upon Winn's character in a short amount of time and continue to advance him and have him grow in his appreciation for what he was able to resolve and in his appreciation for all that he now has.  I thoroughly enjoyed the time that we got to spend with him and am glad he will also be back for the very special 100th episode next week.  I'm frankly surprised at the change of having Alex leave the DEO and am finding her character writing lacking in this otherwise solid season.  Kara and William have me rolling my eyes so far in the back of my head that I'm in fear of serious injury.  I can't wait to celebrate the big 100 next week and see what Mr. Mxy has in store for our Supergirl and us!

This week on CW’s Supergirl - Season 5 - Episode 12 - Back from the Future Part 2 - Toyman Win has uploaded himself into the DEO systems with the threat of the world being next, taking over DEO tech, and attacking the DEO itself. The only solution is for “Computer Lad” Win to enter the computer as well and enter the resolution code from the inside. The only help he has is his criminally insane father who has also been entrapped into the mainframe. Win must take a ‘leap of faith’ and trust his father. Meanwhile the DEO lead by the efforts of Alex Danvers, Brainy, and Supergirl are fighting all the tech around them. From toy monkeys, to drones, to the eventual Lexosuits that come alive to attack them. Amazing and fun effects, matrix style fight scenes, and a Leeroy Jenkins war cry lead to some exciting fight scenes. Also we get a confrontation between Alex and Brainy as Brainy is caught erasing the spyware Alex had uploaded as we know Brainy is secretly working for Lex. On the Luthor front, Lena sees an opportunity to work her way into Andrea Rojas’ Obsidian Platinum but is unable to do so because of their past. Big brother Lex to the rescue as he vets board member Gemme Cooper and gets her on board and therefore securing Obsidian and Luthor Corp’s cooperation. Unbeknownst to all Gemma is a part of the very Leviathan Lex seems to be fighting against. Finally things between Kara and William are heating up. Starting with harmonizing karaoke, leading to a much anticipated date proposal, and ending with Kara rejecting William because she doesn't want to start a relationship with a lie. All this an Mr. Mxyzptlk sighting at the very end. OLIVER'S CHRISTMAS MOVIES - According to Stephen Amell's recent Facebook Live video, he shares Oliver's favorite Christmas movie (Die Hard) and the "Its true!" he delivered after saying so in the episode was actually a Stephen Amell-ism, not Oliver Queen's. His second choice, It's a Wonderful Life, is an interesting one considering..."I was very lucky to be able to rewatch that movie last week."...which of course is not a thing that happened. He was  subjected to a kind of custom-made It's a Wonderful Life, where the Dominators showed him a whole different timeline and how his life and the lives of those around him might be different if he had made different decisions. BIG BELLY BURGER - The mention is because the to-go bag for the DC Universe's favorite burger joint was the focus of a shot that hung on for a few seconds AND transitioned from the present day to the flashbacks. That's a lot of camera time for a fast food container. CLAYBOURNE - While Justin Claybourne's name did in fact appear on The List, we never saw him dealt with in season 1 and all of the scenes here that were calling back to the first year of the series were entirely new material. This, of course, opens up the question of whether we might see some more such stories in flashbacks for future episodes...! ALMOST EVERY WEDNESDAY - "People who are supposed to be dead turn out to be alive almost every Wednesday." Weirdly enough never during the summer or between mid-December and late January, though. THE HOOD - Oliver's season 1 costume, the kill list, the sets, the mission, his arguments with Diggle...this is what it was like when he was The Hood and not Green Arrow. THE RED PEN - The red pen is a nice callback to some of Felicity Smoak's earliest appearances, and that makes it worth breaking out to talk separately about "IT Girl Felicity," back when Oliver was still making up outlandish stories to get her help instead of just coming clean with her. AK DESMOND PHARMACEUTICAL - It seems worth noting, since Dr. Alchemy is such a big part of The Flash this season, that A.K. Desmond Pharmaceutical could plausibly be considered a wink-and-a-nod reference to Albert Desmond, a chemist who would go on to become Dr. Alchemy in the comics. Unlikely, but possible! MAKE THE CITY GREAT AGAIN - Obviously in his final moments, when Claybourne is trying to appeal to Oliver's ideas about "saving the city," he says that businesses like his can "make the city great again," which in the context of the last years' worth of public life feels suspiciously like a reference to Donald Trump's "make America great again" campaign slogan. ARROW NEWS:   ARROW FANS HAVE ALREADY SEEN SEASON 5'S FINAL SCENE — OR HAVE THEY? (Date: 05 Dec 2016) Now that “Arrow” has reached season five and has no plans of slowing down, the plan has changed slightly. As Guggenheim said, “Spoiler alert. That's (Ollie's rescue from Lian Yu) going to end up being the Season 5 finale.” Season five's flashback story arc will still end by replaying the first moments of the series, but there's now much more show to come after that moment in season six and beyond. But just because fans saw how season five will end five years ago doesn't mean there aren't surprises still ahead at the end of this season. Guggenheim added that the creators have “some incredibly clear plans for what we want to do in the Season 5 finale,” but that they always leave wiggle room for surprises and cliffhangers. Supergirl had its most-watched (3.5M) episode of the season, and matched its season premiere ratings in both adults 18-34 (0.9/4) and adults 18-49 (1.1/4). The Flash saw its most-watched episode (4.15M) in almost two years (12/9/14) and its highest rated episode of the season. Arrow delivered the series' most watched (3.55M) and highest-rated episode since last season's crossover episode (12/2/15).
