"There are times in life when someone needs our help but we are too busy or too fearful to help them. Sometimes we have to push aside the culture's message, 'I need to look out for number one.' We started with audio from 2014 when Rex Ryan sat down with Andrea Kramer and said that Woody wanted him to be the head coach for 25 years, but you couldn't bring another GM to work with him. As far as Jon Gruden goes, it seems like there will be other teams interested in him, so he will not go to the Jets. Gio called the Jets, a ‘cesspool of an organization'. Boomer disagreed with that.

Dr. Joe calls in. He's the guy who told us back in June that Dave Sims was getting the Yankees job. He said Suzyn Waldman threw the name out there. He called back to apologize to, I think, Suzyn. He said she has cut him out of her life. Jerry returns for an update and has the audio from the moron harassing Jason Kelce as he was leaving the Jimmy Kimmel Show. Chad Ochocinco couldn't believe how boring the NFL has been until the 4th quarter hits. Jerry has audio of Daniel Jones reading his statement on how things have gone with the Giants. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about the farce that was the Tyson/Paul fight.

Hour 1 Daniel Jones essentially said goodbye to Giants fans and Rex Ryan went on ESPN Radio and really, really wants the Jets job. We talked about what Rex would be like if he returned. Gio wouldn't do it as he thinks it feels pathetic to go back to when you last felt good about the team. Boomer said there are going to be 6 head coaching jobs open and Boomer expects Rob Saleh to get some interviews. Boomer would consider re-hiring Rex, but he wants to see who the other candidates are. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the sounds of the Browns beating the Steelers in the snow. Daniel Jones read a prepared statement to the press expressing his gratitude. Jerry has audio of Rex Ryan saying he's ‘all about the Jets' and ‘nobody's better than me'. Aaron Judge won the A.L. MVP. In the final segment of the hour, Stu Feiner wants to wear the ball-hammock underwear on stage with nothing else on. We declined. We talk about past B&G Live events as we get ready for our show at the Paramount tonight. Hour 2 News 12 Long Island did a piece on the live show we're doing tonight at the Paramount. We got into the Daniel Jones situation. He met the media yesterday and read a prepared piece where he was thanking the fans and the Giants for the opportunity. He did get emotional, which we've never seen before from him. We talked about the frustration Brian Daboll was clearly feeling in some of these games because of Jones' play. We talked about the NFL draft and who the Giants could get at quarterback. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the sounds of the Browns beating the Steelers in a ‘Winter Wonderland in Cleveland'. Jerry has audio of Daniel Jones talking about not playing well enough and understanding why the Giants made the move. Gronk wants Jon Gruden for the Jets. Aaron Judge won the A.L. MVP and thanked Juan Soto. In the final segment of the hour, Jason Kelce ran into another moron looking for an autograph that was just a total turd (the autograph seeker). Hour 3 We started with audio from 2014 when Rex Ryan sat down with Andrea Kramer and said that Woody wanted him to be the head coach for 25 years, but you couldn't bring another GM to work with him. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about the farce that was the Tyson/Paul fight. Hour 4 Malik Nabers said that Brian Daboll told him Tommy DeVito will get the ball right where it needs to be so he better be ready as soon as he makes the cut on his route. We expect the Bucs to blitz DeVito a lot. Sam Darnold will most likely be available next season. Jerry returns for his final update of the day, but first, Chuck Scarborough is stepping down after 50 years at WNBC. Jerry starts with the Browns beating the Steelers in the snow and Jameis Winston was so into it. Daniel Jones basically said goodbye to the Giants when he met the media. Sterling Shepard is looking forward to playing in MetLife again and seeing the Giants and the fans. Rex Ryan was on ESPN radio, pushing for the Jets job. The Moment of The Day: John Minko is at Baha Mar for St. John's, in his underwear. In the final segment of the week, our NFL picks!

In this episode of our podcast, we dive deep into the nuances of workplace bias with none other than Andrea Kramer and Alton Harris. Married to each other, Andie and Al are not just partners in life but also co-authors of the enlightening "Beyond Bias: The PATH to End Gender Inequality at Work" which was published on May 16, 2023. Their commitment to addressing gender bias doesn't stop at the written word. For several decades, through various platforms including speaking engagements, workshops, articles, blogs, podcasts, one-on-one counselling, and collaborations with national and international business and professional organizations, they have passionately tackled the omnipresent issue of gender bias in the workplace. With notable appearances in publications like The New York Times, Harvard Business Review, The Wall Street Journal, and Forbes (to name a few) they have consistently provided practical techniques for individuals and organizations to counteract the gender stereotypes and biases that threaten women's career advancements. We delve into various topics, including the challenges of introducing oneself, the effects of bias on productivity, and practical ways to make workplaces more equitable and fair. Throughout the discussion, listeners will gain a fresh perspective on gender issues and the subtle biases that influence our day-to-day interactions. Key Discussion Points Introduction Dynamics: The complexity of dual introductions and a peek into the book "Beyond Bias". Understanding Workplace Bias: Exploring the influence of bias on productivity, the presumption that an organization is not functioning efficiently, and the essence of their two prior books on gender bias. Steps Beyond the Bias: How to eliminate exclusionary behavior, the significance of small gestures, and the role of meta-leadership. Preventing Complacency: The importance of embedding the focus on eliminating bias within other core workplace objectives. The Path to Change: Discussing the shortcomings of organizational efforts towards diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice, and practical methods to make personnel decisions bias-resistant. Addressing Bias in Hiring: The necessity of bias guardrails during hiring, making hiring more equitable, and challenges surrounding remote work and its gender implications. Home Inequality as a Workplace Issue: Recognizing gender inequality in domestic settings, the dire need for flexible time schedules, and extended support for parental leaves. As we wrap up this enlightening episode with Andrea and Alton, it's evident that the journey to end gender inequality in the workplace requires both self-awareness and collective effort. From understanding the underlying biases to implementing actionable steps, there's a lot that we can do, both as individuals and organizations. Thanks for tuning in. Learn how to overcome discriminatory gender bias! As you may know, I am researching my next book about women and how they are smashing the myths of what they can or cannot do in this world. I was therefore thrilled to have the opportunity to interview Andrea (Andie) Kramer and her husband Al Harris about their new book, “It’s Not You, It’s the Workplace.” Our conversation digs into those lingering myths about women’s workplace relationships. Why, you might wonder, are these relationships so difficult, in which women think other women are just plain mean to each other, don’t help other women succeed, and are more challenging to work for than men. Well, that is all myth. Listen in and learn why. In our interview, Andie and Al talk at length about their detailed social science research consisting of surveys and hundreds of interviews with women and men across the country. Surprisingly, what they found is that women’s unique conflicts with others, both women and men, are not caused by gender or different styles or the way they were raised and socialized. Rather, it is the result of pervasive gender bias in their workplaces. Women are not inherently mean to or competitive with other women. Rather, the existing gender stereotypes and biases force women into situations where conflicts with other women become almost inevitable. But it doesn't have to be that way—workplace cultures can change! Is there gender bias in your organization? Does your culture need to change? Listen in as Andie and Al explain how to change your policies to effectively address bias so that everyone, no matter the gender, can thrive. More about Andie and Al Andie Kramer and Al Harris are married practicing lawyers who have been mentoring women and speaking and writing about gender communication for more than 30 years. Andie and Al offer women unique, balanced and highly practical advice they can use to prevent gender biases from slowing or derailing their careers. Andie and Al also offer arresting information and compelling examples to male audiences to make them aware of and sensitive to the gender biases that hold women back—even in the most well-intentioned organizations. They provide business and professional organizations with concrete suggestions for workplace changes that will make women’s career opportunities more closely equal those of men. Co-authors of the popular book, "Breaking Through Bias: Communication Techniques for Women to Succeed at Work," Andie and Al are frequent keynote speakers and conduct workshops for all types of organizations to better understand the world of gender bias. What you will learn in this podcast: How do you say “no” in a way that doesn’t hurt relationships The impropriety bias: Can a man still mentor a woman? In their new book, "It's Not You, It's The Workplace - Women's Conflict At Work And The Bias That Built It" Andrea Kramer & Alton Harris argue that these conflicts are rooted in two bias-driven workplace dynamics: 1) the obstacles to career advancement women encounter simply because they are women, and 2) the misunderstandings and stereotypes they face in working with women whose social identities are different from their own—be it because of race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, or parental status. In this episode, we try to debunk some of the myths surrounding this topic and recognize that this an issue we all need to face.
