"Hamilton" came to Orlando for a casting call and since then, he's been touring with the company as a principal standby for five out of the seven male roles. As a standby, Deejay arrives at the theater warmed up and ready for every performance, prepared to step in at any moment for a lead cast member. Deejay's grandma always believed in him wholeheartedly, but she passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. She never got to see him perform in "Hamilton," but Deejay feels she is still here in spirit, pushing him forward. The Battle Rounds for Season 24 of The Voice are under way! Never thinking that music was an option as a career, Chechi went to college to study medicine. However, when she decided she wanted to pursue music instead, the transition was tough, especially in Michigan. Finding her artistry took time and her final push was when she opened for Brian McKnight, which motivated her to take the plunge. Now having been in Los Angeles for the past six years, Chechi has made a name for herself. This year she performed with Lizzo at the Grammys doing background vocals. Stee never wanted to be compared to his parents, who were classically trained singers. Instead, he grew up wanting to be an engineer until he heard R&B vocalist Mario and felt inspired. In 2014, he formed his band and performed at weddings and other events. One of Stee's biggest fans and supporters was his cousin, Matthew, who also wanted to be a singer, but struggled with diabetes, which physically prohibited him from living his dream. Matthew has encouraged Stee to audition for "The Voice" since 2013. Unfortunately, Stee never got the opportunity to tell Matthew he would be taking the stage because Matthew passed away in May, but Stee is excited to live out this journey in honor of Matthew. The Battle Rounds for Season 24 of The Voice are under way! It is a pleasure to welcome Emmy-nominated singer-songwriter Julian King as a guest on The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. Julian is a Philadelphia native, proud Aquarius, preacher's kid with virtuoso vocals, dance moves to die for, and a skillful musician. In 2019, Julian auditioned for The Voice USA's sixteenth season. His cover of Jon Bellion's “All Time Low” received the attention of Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony-winning superstar John Legend, who blocked founding coach Adam Levine from getting him. He soared in the Battle Rounds, but Julian was eliminated in the Live Cross Battles.Outside of The Voice USA, Julian King was a backing vocalist for his Voice coach, Monica, and Syleena Johnson. He also served as an opening act for Daley + 100.3 RnB Fest featuring Keyshia Cole, Mary J. Blige, and Talib Kweli. He was also the runner-up in Billboard and Samsung NXT 2.0 contest, featured in a Timberland Black History Campaign and as a House of Pride McDonald's performer. Julian wrote and performed the theme song: “All Boys Aren't Blue” for the short film of the same title. All Boys Aren't Blue is based on George M. Johnson's New York Times bestselling memoir and is a poetic visual representation of growing up Black and non-binary. The piece highlights three pivotal moments in George's life that shaped their understanding of their place in the world. Nathan Hale Williams adapted the movie, and the short film and the theme song were nominated for Daytime Emmys. In this edition of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Julian King spoke about his experience on The Voice and his reaction when he learned that “All Boys Aren't Blue” was nominated for the Daytime Emmys.
With a single dad who DJ'd every weekend during her childhood, it was impossible for Gina not to be involved in music. When she turned 14, she asked her dad if she could be more involved in his gigs and would help him set up his equipment. Gina always felt that she wanted something bigger than her small town of Paxton, Illinois, and performing became a way for her to stand out in her town. As she went through high school, she realized she wanted to pursue music more seriously. With her father and stepmother's support, she decided to move in with her aunt, Gretchen, in Sacramento, California. The transition to a big city was very intimidating at first, but, with the help of her aunt, she now feels more comfortable in California. The Voice is one of America's most popular shows, airing Monday and Tuesday.ABOUT THE VOICEThe four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series "The Voice" features the strongest vocalists from across the country invited to compete in the show's newest season.Grammy Award-winning hip-hop star Chance the Rapper and platinum-selling singer-songwriter Niall Horan claim their red chairs alongside returning coaches Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton as they vie to discover and coach the next singing phenomenon. The competition is tougher than ever as Shelton goes for the win in his final season. The show's innovative format features five stages of competition: Blind Auditions, Battle Rounds, Knockouts, Playoffs and Live Performance Shows.During the Blind Auditions, the decisions from the coaches are based solely on voice and not looks. The coaches hear the artists perform but they don't get to see them, thanks to rotating chairs. If a coach is impressed by the artist's voice, they push a button to select the artist for their team. At this point, the coach's chair will swivel so that they can face the artist they selected. If more than one coach pushes the button, the power then shifts to the artist to choose which coach they want to work with. If no one pushes their button, the artist is eliminated from the competition. The artists' family and friends watch their Blind Auditions from side stage with host Carson Daly, cheering on their loved ones and hoping for a coveted chair turn.Returning this season is the block, which adds another layer of coach competition during the Blind Auditions. The coach chairs each have an extra set of buttons with the other three coaches' names on them, which prevents a coach from adding a new artist to his or her team. The coaches can use their block buttons only on one artist for the entire first round of the competition. The blocked coach only discovers they are blocked if they press their button, and though their chair will still turn, their lane lights up with "BLOCKED." If the coach doesn't press their button, the block is still available for another audition.Once the teams are set, the battle is on. The coaches dedicate themselves to developing their team of artists, giving them advice and sharing the secrets of their success. During the Battle Rounds, the coaches will pit two of their own team members against each other to sing the same song together. The artists are vying for their coach's confidence and decision to take them to the next round. After each vocal battle, the coach must choose which of his or her artists will advance to the next round of competition. This season during Battles, the all-new Playoff Pass is at stake. The Playoff Pass will allow both artists in a battle to advance while the Playoff Pass winner gets a huge advantage by skipping the Knockout Rounds and advancing straight to Playoffs, taking them one step closer to Lives. Each coach will have one Playoff Pass to use as well as one steal in the Battles. With the steals in play, a losing artist is available for the other coaches to save and bring onto their own team. Artists who won their battle or were stolen by another coach will advance to the Knockouts, while the four artists with a Playoff Pass will advance straight to Playoffs. In the Knockouts, the artists will be paired against another teammate, but this time they will perform individually while their direct competitors watch and wait. To prepare for this high-pressure competition, the coaches enlist legendary country music icon Reba McEntire as the Mega Mentor to advise all of the artists competing in the Knockouts. Having served as Battle advisor to Team Blake during the show's inaugural season, it's most fitting Reba returns as Blake coaches his final group of artists and bids farewell to the competition. The coaches will choose the winner of each Knockout, and the artist not selected will be available to be stolen by another coach. The pressure is on as each coach will only have one steal in the Knockouts. The Playoffs are back, further bolstering the competition following the Knockouts. The 20 remaining artists hold nothing back and tough decisions are made when each coach can only advance two artists to the live semifinals. The stakes are even higher for the artists because there are no steals available.Once the Live Performance Shows begin, the top artists will compete against each other during live broadcasts. This time, the television audience will vote to save their favorite artist. The live semifinals will be more dramatic than ever because the Top 8 artists will all perform live for a real-time vote, and results will be revealed at the end of that show. After the real-time votes are counted that night, the five artists with the most votes will be revealed and advance to the following week's finale. Those with the lowest number of votes will be sent home. In the end, one artist will be named "The Voice" and will receive the grand prize of a recording contract."The Voice" is a presentation of MGM Television, Warner Bros. The stakes are even higher for the artists because there are no steals available. Once the Live Performance Shows begin, the top artists will compete against each other during live broadcasts. In the end, one artist will be named "The Voice" and will receive the grand prize of a recording contract. "The Voice" is a presentation of MGM Television, Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon, and ITV Studios The Voice USA, Inc. The series was created by John de Mol, who serves as an executive producer along with Mark Burnett, Audrey Morrissey, Amanda Zucker, Kyra Thompson and Adam H. MONDAYS 8/7c AND TUESDAYS 9/8c ABOUT THE VOICE The four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series "The Voice" returns with the strongest vocalists from across the country invited to compete in the show's newest season, which premieres March 6. Grammy Award-winning hip-hop star Chance the Rapper and platinum-selling singer-songwriter Niall Horan claim their red chairs alongside returning coaches Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton as they vie to discover and coach the next singing phenomenon. The competition is tougher than ever as Shelton goes for the win in his final season. The show's innovative format features five stages of competition: Blind Auditions, Battle Rounds, Knockouts, Playoffs and Live Performance Shows. During the Blind Auditions, the decisions from the coaches are based solely on voice and not looks. The artists' family and friends watch their Blind Auditions from side stage with host Carson Daly, cheering on their loved ones and hoping for a coveted chair turn. Returning this season is the block, which adds another layer of coach competition during the Blind Auditions. The coach chairs each have an extra set of buttons with the other three coaches' names on them, which prevents a coach from adding a new artist to his or her team. The coaches can use their block buttons only on one artist for the entire first round of the competition. The blocked coach only discovers they are blocked if they press their button, and though their chair will still turn, their lane lights up with "BLOCKED." If the coach doesn't press their button, the block is still available for another audition. Once the teams are set, the battle is on. The coaches dedicate themselves to developing their team of artists, giving them advice and sharing the secrets of their success. Bryce is finishing up his final year at Georgia Southern University and is completing a degree in business in hopes of managing his music career. The college bar scene is where got experience on stage, and it's also how he pays his bills. He currently has a show booked and has sold 225 tickets in under a week. As always, Premiere Networks, in conjunction with NBC, brings you interviews with the contestants and winners season after season! The Voice is one of America's most popular shows, airing Mondays and Tuesdays. ABOUT THE VOICE The four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series "The Voice" has returned with the strongest vocalists from across the country invited to compete in the show's newest season. Multi-Grammy-nominated Cuban-born singer-songwriter and actress Camila Cabello claims her red chair alongside superstar returning coaches John Legend, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. Carson Daly returns as host for Season 22. The show's innovative format features four stages of competition: Blind Auditions, Battle Rounds, Knockouts and Live Performance Shows. During the Blind Auditions, the decisions from the coaches are based solely on voice and not looks. In addition to performing in front of a fully vaccinated, limited-capacity live audience, the artists' family and friends are able to attend their Blind Auditions in person for the first time since Season 18! Also returning this season is the block, which adds another layer of coach competition during the Blind Auditions. The coach chairs each have an extra set of buttons with the other three coaches' names on them, which prevents a coach from adding a new artist to his or her team. The coaches can only use their block buttons on one artist for the entire first round of the competition. The blocked coach only discovers they are blocked if they press their button, and though their chair will still turn, their lane lights up with "BLOCKED." If the coach doesn't press their button, the block is still available for another audition. Once the teams are set, the battle is on. The coaches dedicate themselves to developing their team of artists, giving them advice and sharing the secrets of their success, along with help from their celebrity advisors. The coaches enlist music industry heavyweights to prepare their artists for the Battle Rounds. This season's Battle Advisors include Charlie Puth (Team Camila), Jazmine Sullivan (Team Legend), Jimmie Allen (Team Blake) and Sean Paul (Team Gwen). During the Battle Rounds, the coaches will pit two of their own team members against each other to sing the same song together. The artists are vying for their coach's confidence and decision to take them to the next round. After each vocal battle, the coach must choose which of his or her artists will advance to the next round of competition. Each coach will have one save and one steal in the Battle Rounds. The losing artist is available to be saved by their own coach, but with the steals still in play, the artist could potentially choose to go with a different coach, leading to even tougher decisions for the coaches and artists. Artists who won their battle, were saved by their own coach or were stolen by another coach will advance to the Knockouts. Season 22 will showcase a new format element during the Knockout Rounds. For the first time ever, this phase of the competition will include three-way knockouts. The stakes have never been higher for the coaches and their artists as they vie for the win. In the Knockouts, the artists will be paired against two other teammates, but this time, they will select their own songs to perform individually while their direct competitors watch and wait. The coaches will choose the winner, and the artists not selected will be available to be stolen by another coach. The pressure is on as each coach will only have one steal in the Knockouts. In lieu of enlisting a Mega Mentor, the coaches will work with their artists directly to prepare them as best as possible for this new challenge. Once the Live Performance Shows begin, the top artists will compete against each other weekly during a live broadcast. This time, the television audience will vote to save their favorite artists. The artists with the lowest number of votes will be eligible for the Instant Save and will each perform a new song to prove why they should continue in the competition. America will then have the opportunity to save their favorite performer by voting on The Voice Official App or NBC.com. Those with the lowest number of votes will be sent home. In the end, one artist will be named "The Voice" and will receive the grand prize of a recording contract. "The Voice" is a presentation of MGM Television, Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon and ITV Studios The Voice USA, Inc. The series was created by John de Mol, who serves as an executive producer along with Mark Burnett, Audrey Morrissey, Amanda Zucker, Kyra Thompson and Adam H. Sher.

In lieu of enlisting a Mega Mentor, the coaches will work with their artists directly to prepare them as best as possible for this new challenge.Once the Live Performance Shows begin, the top artists will compete against each other weekly during a live broadcast. In the end, one artist will be named "The Voice" and will receive the grand prize of a recording contract."The Voice" is a presentation of MGM Television, Warner Bros. Sher.DEVIXTeam CamilaDevix has loved music and the science of sound since he was a toddler. Growing up was tough, as his mother raised a family of 5 children alone, all while battling cerebral palsy in a wheelchair. With both of his brothers being musically gifted, Devix learned to sing, play guitar, drums, piano, bass, and other instruments. He has built a career with the desire to connect and spread love to the world as well as give back to his supportive family and friends. For the last decade, Devix has traveled to perform along the East Coast. His stage name, Devix, comes from a character he created in his hobby of designing and playing video games. He's taken on this identity ever since his first open mic performance in his local music scene of York.Song: "Electric Feel," by MGMT Performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROCS-I-8X2

DESTINY LEIGH, 18 (saved by Gwen)Team GwenHailing all the way from Sofia, Bulgaria, Destiny moved to the United States when she was a year old. Destiny's mother was born and raised in Bulgaria, while her father is African-American. As an immigrant, Destiny's mom went through plenty of hardships in the early years of her arrival. Destiny remembers living in homeless shelters and friends' houses. There was a constant struggle with finances, but her mom got the family back on their feet. Music was always Destiny's safe haven. She performed everywhere she could at school and local theaters, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout middle and high school. She was accepted to Berklee College of Music and recently finished her freshman year where she performed as a lead in "The Beyoncé Ensemble," a tribute show to Beyoncé and Black excellence.Song: "No More Drama," by Mary J. BligePerformance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJ9rFJFDkoIABOUT THE VOICEThe four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series "The Voice" has returned with the strongest vocalists from across the country invited to compete in the show's newest season.. Multi-Grammy-nominated Cuban-born singer-songwriter and actress Camila Cabello claims her red chair alongside superstar returning coaches John Legend, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. Carson Daly returns as host for Season 22.The show's innovative format features four stages of competition: Blind Auditions, Battle Rounds, Knockouts and Live Performance Shows.During the Blind Auditions, the decisions from the coaches are based solely on voice and not looks. In addition to performing in front of a fully vaccinated, limited-capacity live audience, the artists' family and friends are able to attend their Blind Auditions in person for the first time since Season 18!Also returning this season is the block, which adds another layer of coach competition during the Blind Auditions. The coach chairs each have an extra set of buttons with the other three coaches' names on them, which prevents a coach from adding a new artist to his or her team. The coaches can only use their block buttons on one artist for the entire first round of the competition. The blocked coach only discovers they are blocked if they press their button, and though their chair will still turn, their lane lights up with "BLOCKED." If the coach doesn't press their button, the block is still available for another audition.Once the teams are set, the battle is on. The coaches dedicate themselves to developing their team of artists, giving them advice and sharing the secrets of their success, along with help from their celebrity advisors. The coaches enlist music industry heavyweights to prepare their artists for the Battle Rounds. This season's Battle Advisors include Charlie Puth (Team Camila), Jazmine Sullivan (Team Legend), Jimmie Allen (Team Blake) and Sean Paul (Team Gwen).During the Battle Rounds, the coaches will pit two of their own team members against each other to sing the same song together. Artists who won their battle, were saved by their own coach or were stolen by another coach will advance to the Knockouts.Season 22 will showcase a new format element during the Knockout Rounds. Where it all began…For Girl Named Tom The ones who surrounded us with music from day one We grew up listening to Mom sing in the church choir & watching Dad play drums. We sang as a family quite a lot & at age 9 we were put into piano lessons. Mom loved hearing us play the piano as she did the dishes, and BOY did she have us practice. Dad would often come into our room at night (we shared one room for a time!) and play his guitar and sing us to sleep. He's got great writing skills & we attribute a lot of our inspiration to him. We are SO grateful for our loving, supportive parents! It was so crazy seeing them cheer for us on the big screen! Small town siblings with a wide world-view, we seek to create harmony in a society divided. We believe that as we share our music with our three unique voices, we can inspire the world with a common goal: To fly and help each other fly.* IG + FB +YOUTUBE +TikTok @girlnamedtom BIG NEWS! His contract ended recently, but Cam is ready to take full control of his artistry and continue making a name for himself on "The Voice" stage.Song: "10,000 Hours," by Dan + Shay and Justin BieberPerformance: https://youtu.be/JFumzRool20About the ShowThe four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series "The Voice" celebrates its 10th anniversary with the strongest vocalists from across the country invited to compete in the show's newest season, which returns on March 1. Pop music sensation Nick Jonas reclaims his red chair alongside superstar Coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Blake Shelton as they return for Season 20. Carson Daly returns as host. The show's innovative format features four stages of competition: the first begins with the Blind Auditions, then the Battle Rounds, Knockouts and, finally, the Live Performance Shows. During the Blind Auditions, the decisions from the musician coaches are based solely on voice and not looks. The coaches hear the artists perform but they don't get to see them, thanks to rotating chairs. If a coach is impressed by the artist's voice, that coach pushes a button to select the artist for their team. At this point, the coach's chair will swivel so that they can face the artist they selected. If more than one coach pushes the button, the power then shifts to the artists to choose which coach they want to work with. If no coach pushes their button, the artist is eliminated from the competition. Also returning this season is the block, which adds another layer of excitement during the Blind Auditions. The coach chairs each have an extra set of buttons with the other three coaches' names. The block button prevents a coach from adding a new artist to their team. The coaches can only use their block buttons on one artist for the entire first round of the competition. When a coach hits the block button with the name of one of the other three coaches, the coach who hit it automatically turns around. The blocked coach only discovers they are blocked if they press their button. The blocked coach's chair will still turn, but instead of their lane lighting up with their name, it says "BLOCKED." If the coach doesn't press their button, the block is still available for another audition. Once the teams are set, the battle is on. The coaches dedicate themselves to developing their team of artists, giving them advice and sharing the secrets of their success, along with help from their celebrity advisors. The coaches enlist music industry heavyweights to prepare their artists for the Battle Rounds. This season's Battle Advisors include international chart-topping Grammy-winning artist Luis Fonsi (Team Kelly), Multi-hyphenated Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning actor and musician Darren Criss (Team Nick), Grammy-winning R&B singer and icon Brandy (Team Legend) and Grammy-winning country music duo Dan + Shay (Team Blake). During the Battle Rounds, the coaches will pit two of their own team members against each other to sing the same song together in front of a virtual audience. They are vying for their coach's confidence and decision to take them to the next round. After each vocal battle, the coach must choose which of his/her singers will advance to the next round of competition. The losing artist is available to be stolen by another coach or available to be saved by their own coach, but the team coach can only hit their button to save an artist after it's clear no other coach is going to steal the artist. If no other coach has attempted to steal the artist by the time they get down the stage steps, the artist's coach can push the button to save them. Each coach will have one save and one steal in the Battle Rounds. Artists who won their battle or were stolen by another coach will advance to the Knockouts. The four artists that were saved by their individual coaches during the Battle Rounds will not automatically advance in the competition. Instead, those artists will compete in the Four-Way Knockout. Each of the four artists will receive individualized coaching and rehearsals with their coach and a superstar Mega Mentor in preparation for the Four-Way Knockout. However, the winner will ultimately be chosen by America. At the top of the final episode of the Knockouts, voting will open for America to choose which of the four artists moves forward in the competition after their performances. At the top of the first Live Show, Carson Daly will reveal which of the four artists was voted through by America, and that artist will continue to the Live Shows with their original team. For the remainder of the artists who made it to the Knockouts, one superstar Mega Mentor will be on hand to work with all the coaches and their teams as they prepare the artists for this challenge. In the Knockouts, the artists will be paired against a teammate once more, but this time, they will select their own songs to perform individually while their direct competitor watches and waits. The coaches will choose the winner, and the artist not selected will be available to be stolen by another coach. Each coach will only have one steal in the Knockouts. Once the Live Performance Shows begin, the top artists will compete each week against each other during a live broadcast. As always, the television audience will vote to save their favorite artists. The artists with the lowest number of votes will be eligible for the Instant Save. These artists will each perform a new song that represents why they should earn the save. America will then have the opportunity to save their favorite performer by voting on The Voice Official App or NBC.com. The singers with the lowest number of votes will be sent home each week. In the end, one will be named "The Voice" and will receive the grand prize of a recording contract. "The Voice" is a presentation of MGM Television, Warner Horizon Unscripted & Alternative Television and ITV Studios The Voice USA, Inc. It is a pleasure to welcome actress and singer Sasha Allen to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. Sasha Allen began her career when she was cast as Dee in the 2003 cult film Camp and won audiences over on VH1's Born to Diva. Throughout the 2000s, Sasha sang background vocals for Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, John Legend, and Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds. In 2009, she portrayed Dionne in the 2009 revival of Broadway classic Hair at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. In 2010, she reprised the role when she joined the West End revival. In 2013, Sasha Allen returned to Reality TV to compete on the fourth season of NBC's singing competition, The Voice. She caught all four coaches' attention (Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira, and Usher) in the Blind Auditions round with her powerful interpretation of the Chicks' "Not Ready to Make Nice." She selected the Maroon 5 frontman to be her coach, but sadly he eliminated her during the Battle Rounds. Thankfully, Shakira stole her, and Sasha went all the way to the Live Rounds, where she made it to the Semifinals rounds.Several years after her Voice experience, Sasha toured across the United States in the revival of the Broadway musical: Pippin. She landed the role of "The Leading Player." In 2016, she joined the Rolling Stones on their America Latina Ole Tour as a backing vocalist. During the tour, she sang the iconic "Gimme Shelter" with Mick Jagger. Hey it’s Arroe. This is Play It Forward. A look at the unexpected changes endured by entertainers, writers, camera people and all others affected but not infected by the global invasion of the Coronavirus. Real people. Real stories. The struggle to Play It Forward. Episode 31: The Voices Imagine making it past the Blind Auditions on NBC’s The Voice. That first initial push through an eighteen season mountain. The Battle Rounds then the Knockout. In years past I’ve had a blast talking to each of the singer/songwriters and performers about the huge collaborations that took shape due to The Voice. This year so much has been silenced by The Virus. Covid-19. Allegra Miles is 16 years. She sees the show as a power connection and escape for viewers. Joei Fulco has started to make her mark on the music front. Helping her to keep strong during these days of social distancing is her connection to Martial Arts. Michael Williams is a songwriter that loves to share stories. That instantly grabbed my attention because in a recent Dolly Parton Podcast I learned the songs that shaped the early days of Country music were actually used like a newspaper getting the word out. That’s Play It Forward I’m Arroe

Jaron Strom, a Charlotte local, is still in the running to win NBC's The Voice! Last week we talked to Jaron about him making it through The Blind Auditions and joining Team Blake. After The Blind Auditions come The Battle Rounds. This is where Blake Shelton chooses a song for two contestants on his team to battle on. We invited Strom to talk with us this morning about his battle round last night on where he battled a teammate on a country song. Not only did he talk to us about his advancement, but he shared with us his appreciation for Blake Shelton, his coach. "[He told me to] keep doing the cartwheels with my voice," says Strom this morning. Tone deaf LauRen didn't quite know what "cartwheels" meant. We left it to Roy to explain it to her. A voice that truly change my world! It's a great honour to have Elly Oh on my Podcast. Because of Elly's resourcefulness I am so fortunate to see the Dalai Lama with her. She will have the honour to sing for his holiness during his visit here in Sydney. How did she get the gig? She asked!!! She offered her services as a gift so she can meet his holiness and in return was offered two free tickets to the event. What a lifetime experience and also an opportunity to share your gift with one of the most respected people on earth. That is something money cannot buy. Elly is one of the most resourceful singer I know. She is not afraid to go after what she wants and helps create opportunities around her. Born in South Korea, Elly Oh has been in the music industry for over 10 years. She first discovered her passion for music when she was 18 years old after volunteering to sing to an old patient at the hospital where the nurse thought Elly had an amazing voice. After studying Bachelor of Opera at the University of Hanyang in South Korea, Elly moved to Italy to pursue her opera career and complete a diploma of Opera. Elly has performed at various Opera events including places in Italy, Korea and also in Sydney. She has won various awards for her Opera abilities including first prize in the McDonalds Opera competition (World Song). After moving to Sydney, Australia Elly has changed her vocal style to pop as she enjoyed the upbeat music. She is currently teaching students to sing in a private studio based on her Opera techniques as well as performing the occasional special event. In May 2014, Elly appeared on the Voice Australia 2014 where she blew away 4 coaches within 5 secs of her blind audition with her powerful rendition of Jessie J's "Mama Knows Best". During the Battle Rounds she continued to wow Australia and the world (alongside her mentor and coach Ricky Martin) with her Opera voice and was clearly the early favourite to win the Voice Australia 2014. Moving to Sydney only 5 years ago, knowing very little English, Elly found the courage and motivation to audition on national television for The Voice Australia 2014, placing her in the Top 12 out of 8000 plus auditions and is now considered one of Australia’s lovable artist. Inspired by Elly's determination I have come up with 10 ways to be a resourceful singer to land better gigs and opportunities. I am assuming you are a wonderful singer already!
