This is called the smile meditation. This is a great way to start the day and to set up your day with happiness. This is especially great if you don't have a lot of time to meditate. Using your inner smile is a simple yet powerful relaxation technique. A genuine smile transmits loving energy that has the power to integrate and heal yourself and others. As you literally “smile at yourself,” that has the effect of raising your energy level and preparing you for peak performance. It also enhances your level of selfacceptance. You may wish to practice this exercise at home when you first wake up in the morning as well as any other time you just want to relax or increase your sense of self-appreciation.

Welcome to another episode of One Voice can change the world podcast. I’m sorry I have been out of action these past few weeks. With the recent changes we are seeing the world today due to COVID19 I have had to make a few changes and decisions with my business as well as my family life/ We are not on lockdown fully yet here is Australia. Schools are still open but I have decided to keep my son home from school. My husband who is also a school teacher has taken leave because of his asthma and heart condition and is now conducting lessons online. Everything is slowly shutting down. Honestly, these are scary times but I’m happy I still can teach via zoom and online and provide people with Singing resources via my 6 week Singing Mastery -The One Voice method. I read something last night which I loved: “Corona has proved that everything around us is temporary . Things our lives revolved around…work, gym, malls, movies society have all gone for a toss as we are learning to live without them. It has taught us that in the end, it’s your own home and family that keep you safe.” That’s why my next guest’s work is so important. My guest today is my wonderful friend Renata Trebing. We met virtually during Lewis Howes School of Greatness community 3 years ago. We finally met face to face during the Summit of Greatness in Ohio 2 years ago. I’m so grateful for her friendship over the years and we are still in contact with each other along with 2 other amazing members of our accountability group. She guides clients to nourish their bodies in a holistic way, that is sustainable for their lifestyles and for their lifetime. Renata shares her 5 tips to help nourish your body. This episode is sponsored by SG homeloans, Learning Blocks Early Learning centres, Final song: Our cafe Happy holidays to you! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas holiday with your loved ones! There are 3 more days until 2020! What a year it has been for me and my family. As some of you know I have recently had a major operation. Unfortunately this year has been difficult health wise. I have had to stop my gigs because I wasn’t fit enough to sing. I had fibroids in my uterus which had to be removed. These are normally non cancerous growth. Luckily mine fell in that category. It was the best Christmas present my family and I received. Because my fibroid was huge it affected my breathing for singing also my iron levels were low. So I had less energy and constantly fatigued. Even climbing the stairs gave me heart palpitations. After 4 hours of surgery three blood transfusions I completed my hysterectomy procedure - they removed my uterus along with the fibroid growth. It was a whopping 10kg and 30cm growth. Because if the vertical cut done on my stomach I now need to build up my singing voice and muscles again. My aim for 2020 is nourish my body and mind so I can be in tip top condition for my gig in April. I’ll be singing backing vocals for Sharon Cuneta during her 40th celebration in the music industry. If you don’t know who Sharon Cuneta is, she is a Filipino singer, actress & television host. Known as one of the most prominent showbiz icons in the Philippines. I have created a Thriving Singers planner to help me get into peak condition for then and the future. You can use it to help you get into top shape as a singer too! Today’s podcast will go through the different aspects of this planner and you will be able to download it for free here: https://tinabangel.lpages.co/2020planner/ I didn’t want to overwhelm you with pages and pages of the planner so I have just given it to you as a weekly start. That way you can print it out on the Sunday ready for Monday week 1. I will be keeping you updated via IG so make sure you follow my stories. We can keep each other accountable. So let’s get started with the One Voice Thriving Singer planner! 6 weeks of Singing, moving, nourishing and believing. Being a singer requires you to look after your voice, body, mind and spirit. So our first page requires you to chart down your week. Start with week 1 and the date. Think of 3 goals. These goals are to be short term goals choose something you can achieve within the week also choose a goals that are challenging. Small wins win the race. Story to banish This may take a while to to realise the story you have been telling yourself. Or it could be a story that you tell yourself all the time and you know is a whole load of BS.An example is I don’t have time to exercise- even if you do 15mins it’s still something. Where in the day can you find 15mins? How will I move my body? Movement gets the body and mind started. Physiology makes a huge difference. Do me a favour, try slouching... notice how you feel and what’s running through your mind. Now stand up in a power pose- as if your Wonder Woman. Try this pose for 2 mins and notice how you feel. The way you carry yourself will make a huge difference. How I’ll nourish my body? Maybe you’ve indulged yourself these holidays. For me I have had too much Christmas ham, I could feel the water retention in my body. So my focus will be to not add salt to my food and drink more water. How can you nourish your body. What will you feed it? What I will believe? Here you can write down what your positive belief will be. Maybe it’s writing down your visualisation. Maybe you believe you are healthy and fit. Or a confident singer on stage. Notes Write down anything that comes to mind, perhaps how you are feeling? Are you pumped? Are you hopeful? Timetable: Each day write down what you plan to focus on - You can break it up into morning afternoon and evening. Don’t overwhelm yourself. The idea is to create little wins so you can keep moving forward each day and each week. Daily planner: Add your date, circle the day and fill out the week. I suggest you print these pages out on Sunday and pin on your wall where you can see it every day. What will you focus on today? You can circle one or more depending on your schedule. Breathing work? This might include exercises. You can visit my free webinar which has a few breathing activities for you to follow. https://events.genndi.com/channel/Singingmastery Performance? This may include watching YouTube footage of your favourite artist so you can gain inspiration. Vocal can include vocal scales. You may like to focus on scales that build up your strength or perhaps vocal lick. Exercise: What exercise have you planned today. Ideally 30mins of movement is beneficial. Nourish: Planning the food you will eat the night before or even the week before can be handy. Sunday is normally my meal prep day. I get inspiration from bloggers like Nourish with Renata. Check her out at this link to see how she meal peeps to stay healthy juggling motherhood and her business. Normally I chop up my veggies and fruit to save me from doing it during the busy week. I have ready made hummus and veggies for snacks. Nuts are also handy. I have a couple of boiled eggs ready incase I need a pick me up. I keep myself hydrated with herbal teas and water. It’s a good idea to drink a glass of water at every meal. If you eat 6 small meals a day then that’s 6 glasses taken care of. Sleep Depending of your phase in life you will get ample or little sleep. I guess it’s up to you how you feel in the morning. Some people are ok with 6hrs sleep others like to sleep for 8 hours. Tracking your sleep will help you figure out what’s good for you and how it affects your day. I normally listen to and evening mediation. It helps me to sleep well and wake up with good intentions. I also start my morning with a morning mediation - I wake up at 6 and normally stay in bed and listen to a guided mediation. Things aren’t always going to fall into place. So maybe you couldn’t fit in an activity - you have to take notice did you want to do that activity in the first place or do you think you can afford to leave it out and do it for another day. This planner is not designed to make you feel guilty if you didn’t get to do what you wanted to do. It’s designed to open your mind to intention and inspire you to take little steps. Those steps will add up and help you create that giant leap. Affirmation: I have included some affirmations to help you feel positive. Say them Out loud until you feel it in every part of your body and in every cell. Lastly Celebrate! What goals did achieve? What did you do well? What can you improve on. Remember Nothing is failure- it’s all learning! Hope this will be fun way to start you new year! I know it’s going to help me. Make sure you tag me in any of your posts or stories @tinabangel #onevoicebeheard
This episode was brought to you our One Voice Fiesta Major sponsor: SG homeloans & Learning Blocks child care centres Many people ask me “When is a good time for my child to learn music.” I always say that even while your child is in the womb and from birth surround yourself and your baby with music. Hans Christian Andersen sums it all up “Where words fail, music speaks” Tap and rock your baby to the steady beat so they learn to internalize it within their bodies. This will in turn help with the ability to walk, bounce balls, cut with scissors. Here are some ways to help integrate music into your child’s life. Join a structured musical learning class with your child Listen to a variety of quality recorded music at home and while running errands in the car Sing familiar songs or make up your own songs while you play or when working around the house. Take time to listen to all the interesting sounds in your environment – imitate nature sounds while out for a walk. Explore sounds with homemade instruments like pots and pans, spoons, and shakers Create family music making opportunities in which everyone plays along. Include all your talents from playing the spoons to folk instruments to gathering around the piano. Dance to music from the radio, television, or any other source you enjoy. Use simple props such as scarves, balls and hoops to play movement games. Add a favourite song. Make music part of your child’s bedtime routine or any routine (bathing, cooking, cleaning) – lullabies are particularly Soothing and calming and provide a time for parent and child bonding. The bottom line is music and dance – within a fun, loving and nurturing environment – can bring a life long happiness and warm memories in your child’s life. What a wonderful start to life! Have you downloaded your free Journey Gently Storybook/ebook, MP4 and music and movement guide yet? It will only be available for a limited time.⏰ If you’ve grabbed yours thank you for letting me be part of your child’s musical journey.
This episode was brought to you by Singing Mastery- The One Voice Method. My 6 week online singing program which will give you the tools to discover and master your voice so you can skyrocket your performances. https://tinabangel.lpages.co/singingmasterytheonevoicemethod/ Welcome to another episode of OVCCTW podcast! Thank you for chiming in again if you are a regular listener and for those of you who are new thanks for listening! I hope you enjoy this episode. It’s not the usual structure of my podcast because this interview was taken from my HSC workshop I currently conducted for singers sitting for their High School Certificate here in Sydney. Jennifer Paige was our guest speaker where she spoke about her Music Mindset experience. I met Jennifer in 2013 when I travelled to LA with some of my One Voice students who sang at the major theme parks in LA. We met through a mutual course we were doing and She had invited me to her gig. As soon as we landed in LA my uncle took us for lunch at Sizzler then I asked him if he wouldn’t mind driving us to her gig. It took us 45mins and we found the venue. It was set outdoors in a kind of home and garden franchise, where they served hot chocolate so that was a fun adventure listening to her sing Christmas tunes and entertaining the crowd. We kept in touch ever since. Jennifer Paige was the singer of the hit Crush. It’s one of those go to songs you needed to have in your repertoire as a cover band singer. Enjoy this interview where Jen shares her tips on how to overcome performance anxiety. Website: https://www.jenniferpaige.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jenniferpaigemusic/

This episode was brought to you by Singing Mastery Masterclass you can access the free training here: http://tinabangel.com/singingmasterymasterclass This episode is different from our normal podcast structure. It was a recording of Marlisa's press conference held in Sydney. Marlisa dives into the songwriting process and inspiration of her new album I am Brave. I ask her the question I ask all my guests "What does One Voice can change the world mean to you?" also she shares why she thinks Filipinos are great at singing and how can budding singers improve their singing voice. She is later joined with Taylor Henderson and Makisig Morales who will bring another fun dimension to Marlisa's concert on the 17th of August 2019 held at Blacktown Workers Club brought to you by MENM Productions. Profile: "At the age of only 15, Marlisa stole hearts all over the world during her journey on The X Factor Australia 2014. With a voice to challenge some of the greatest divas Australia has ever produced, it came as no surprise when this sweet Australian/Filipino teenager was victorious in the finale episode. Both likeable and talented, Marlisa has gone from strength to strength since being crowned the youngest X-Factor Winner in the show’s history. Despite her youth, Marlisa is a seasoned performer. She began singing at a very young age, and quickly followed up performing at events, charity concerts and eisteddfods, impressing local audiences along the way. “I was actually performing alongside my brother, who plays piano, since I was around three years old. My grandmother said she thought I had a real talent and suggested to my parents that they continue to encourage and support me. From then on I used to perform at birthday parties and Christmas parties, and that led onto charity events and competitions.” Eager – and destined – to audition for the The X Factor, she was previously held back by the minimum age restriction and waited patiently until she was 14. Within months of her audition she was performing in front of industry giants John Legend and her mentor Ronan Keating in New York, dueting on stage with her idol Jessica Mauboy, and winning Australian audiences over with her adorable and endearing presence. After signing with Sony Music Australia, Marlisa released new music which immediately topped the charts. Her debut single “Stand By You” was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2015 ARIA Awards and was certified Platinum selling over 70,000 copies. The success of the single was followed up with her self-titled album MARLISA(2014), which debuted at #6 on the ARIA albums chart and was also certified Gold. In early 2018, Marlisa extended her international presence and signed with Star Music Phils (ABS-CBN) as well as Tarsier Records to join other Kapamilya stars. This was followed by the release of two of her new singles ‘Thank You’ and ‘Steel’ as part of her upcoming album release." I have had the honour to work with Marlisa, together with 3 other wonderful singers, Chelsea Castillo (Australia's got Talent), Bernadette Marquez (All together now) and Mikee De Leon during Sharon Cuneta's concert at the Evan Theatre, Penrith. Van is an Australian indie artist migrated from the Philippines and based in Sydney from the tender age of 5. Growing up in the inner west has produced a competent guitarist and an innovative songwriter with an engaging voice. Starting out as session guitarist for Sydneys top cover bands and various recording studios around town, he graduated with his own originals outfit and songwriting vehicle VAMPit. Jhay C is one of the hardest working and most versatile music producers / songwriters in Australia, with the uncanny ability to take a simple idea, vocal melody, or demo track, and transform it into a hit pop song. Covering a diverse range of genres including pop, R&B, hip hop, electronic and rock, Jhay C always stays true to what matters the most; the song. Jhay C’s major break came when he was handpicked to work alongside multi-ARIA winning producer Audius (Delta Goodrem, Jessica Mauboy, Ricki-Lee, Selwyn). Since then he’s gone on to work with an impressive list of Australian pop artists including Justice Crew, Chris Sebastian, Will Singe, Maribelle, Paulini, Marvin Priest, Ellie Drennan, Caterina Torres, Shannon Noll, Anthony Callea, Shari Short, Fatai, Mind Over Matter, Emily Williams, Kings X, Omar Dean, Angel Tairua, Diana Rouvas and more. Most recently Jhay C scored his first major US Top 20 hit co-producing and writing ‘Slayʼ by Nia Sioux. His recent credits also include releases by Sarah De Bono’s ARIA Gold selling single Beautiful, Bielfield, Courtney Act, Lani Misalucha and a number of cuts for LA label ‘Superpopʼ, which has resulted in his work being featured on major US TV channels such as MTV, BET and Lifetime. Illustrating Jhay C’s versatility, he appeared on Channel 10’s ‘The Bachelorette 2016ʼ as a guest producer / mentor, guiding the show’s contestants to record the single “End of the Rose”. Jhay C credits the 90’s for his natural R&B and pop sensibilities: “Having a love for 90ʼs R&B music, I was inspired by the likes of Teddy Riley, Babyface and Devante Swing for their musical genius in putting a heavy hip hop beat under some sweet soul R&B melodies. Being self taught on the guitar and piano, I moved on to production and songwriting and havenʼt looked back since.” In this episode Jhay share with us how to nail your next recording session. How singers can prepare for it and get more expression in their recording. We chat about his work with the one and only Ms Lani Misalucha and how he was able to land his music on TV, movies, Netflix and more. Thank you Fideliz Cruz for having me on your show! Always such a pleasure to work with you! This episode is an interview was from Fideliz Cruz's YouTube Channel. "In this episode, I had the pleasure of interviewing Ms Tina Bangel. Founder and Owner of "One Voice" School of Singing! I'm so inspired by Tina as i watch her do what she loves the most and that's sharing the message of "One Voice" & sharing her talent of singing and empowering her students through music. So How can One Voice; YOUR VOICE change the world? Here are the Gold Nuggets that i got from this interview: 1) COURAGEOUSLY TAKE OPPORTUNITIES! In the journey of discovering your passions and what it is that lights you up, It's all about giving it a go and trying out new things! Courageously take the opportunities that you're given and use this as a learning experience! - You never know, this could be the stepping stone towards discovering your passion! 2)THERE'S NO PERFECT TIME THAN NOW! There will never be a perfect time, so don't wait any longer and decide to make the move today! This might be in your business, your career, in your studies etc. Focus on the WHY you're doing what you're doing and this will always cause you to move forward and not wait on the what seems to be "perfect" timing. and lastly, 3) YOUR VOICE IS IMPORTANT! Your opinion, your views, your thoughts and your words matter and you've got to be heard! All of us evolve and change as we grow and as we do that, we need to be able to express ourselves. This is a great tool to get our message of love, hope and encouragement out there. Whatever your message to the world, make sure it come's from within. If you need to get coaches to help you bring that voice out, then do it! I love what Tina says: "One Voice. It starts with you and you have the confidence within you. You have the ability to change peoples lives with your voice. It doesn't matter if it's singing, ti could be through dance, art or sports but you have that ability to change peoples lives just because you have the inspiration and drive within you." I met Caitlin during Selena Soo’s Get Known Get Clients live event in New York. Caitlin has this gift of capturing the room when she speaks. She is smart, a dedicated soul, an inspiration! You can see the passion she has for her work in her eyes and she genuinely wants to help others become better versions of themselves. Caitlin Padgett is a lifestyle coach for successful women who struggle with alcohol. Whether the goal is to control their drinking through moderation techniques or to eliminate it completely, she offers an individualised program for women find freedom from alcohol, on their own terms. Here is what we talk about: Caitlin tells us about her powerful work, how did it came about and what was the pivotal time in her life when she decided enough is enough? What are strategies that creative people can tap into their “zone” without having to turn to alcohol? How to deal with friends or letting go of people that don't serve your purpose in life, what would you say to someone who is afraid to let go of what they know and who they know? Dialog that people can use at the work place or events so they can feel comfortable in situations where they are encouraged to drink? There are people who use alcohol to unwind after work or a gig, Caitlin suggest for people to do when they have the urge to use alcohol. What is the song that changed your life and why? For many years Caitlin felt like she was living a double life. On the outside, she was an accomplished international advocate, living a jet-set lifestyle that took her around the world working on interesting projects. She projected confidence and a sense of adventure and fun. Yet inside she was struggling. She was making good money, but spending a ton on after work cocktails, late nights out, bottles of wine as nightcaps, not to mention the pharmaceuticals she thought she needed to keep anxiety and sleeplessness at bay. For years she had been hiding from myself, it was becoming harder to do so. Looking at myself in the mirror, I couldn’t ignore the effects of drinking too much the night before. But she discovered... You can redefine your relationship to alcohol, instead of it defining you. Caitlin says; “ I now have a life worth remembering every second of. A life that I WANT. Instead of copious amounts on bottles of wine, bubbly and cocktails, I spend money on delicious, nourishing food. Instead of hazy hungover mornings turning into wasted days, I wake up with energy, clarity and enthusiasm. Instead of numbing out stress, anxiety or accumulative shame, I feel and I deal, and I know that I can handle whatever comes my way. Instead of intimacy instigated with liquid courage, I have deeply meaningful intimate relationships Instead of “pre-gaming” with my girlfriends by downing a bottle (or two) of bubbly before even heading out the door, I have beautiful rituals that allow my inner beauty to shine. People say I glow! She goes on to say; “It’s possible for you to have a life you want too. You can have control over your relationship with alcohol. Life doesn’t have to be messy, overly dramatic, or filled with nagging anxiety and self-doubt. While there’s no magic pill, no quick fix, there is a way. A way that honours and celebrates your individuality.” If this is what you want, then connect with Caitlin here: Sign up here to receive Caitlin’s three-part “Drink Less Success” Video series and as a special bonus you’ll also be the first to receive her “How to be awesome without alcohol” video training as soon as it is released!! Dominic is one of Australia's top drummers and is an in demand session musician from Sydney. He works with Sony Music Australia, Warner Music Australia and has performed with artists such as: Cyrus Tim Omaji (Timomatic) Guy Sebastian Jessica Mauboy Delta Goodrem Samantha Jade Nathaniel Justice Crew Rob Mills Stan Walker Taylor Henderson Reigan Derry -International- Jessie J Nico & Vinz Josh Groban Benji Madden Lea Salonga Aston Merrygold Charice Gungor Dom regularly appears in television shows and features including X-Factor, The Voice, The ARIA Awards, Young Talent Time, The Morning Show, The Today Show, Sunrise & Mornings. He teaches privately, upon request, and has hosted popular collaborative jam sessions/residencies, where Sydney's creative and performing arts community are of constant attendance. Dom's first encounter with playing the drums was by getting in trouble with his primary school teacher while banging beats on his little school desk as a child, back in the Philippines. The teacher saw the potential and talent behind the energetic troublesome boy and cultivated it by letting him share his gift, playing a solo marching snare piece for the annual school festival that year. That ignited a flame and passion that would never be extinguished. Having started with the guitar at the age of 9 and the bass after moving to Australia at the age of 13, Dom has always been exposed to music of all styles, growing up and coming from a family of musicians. He gained experience throughout his teens playing for his youth group all around Australia. These years of being self-taught were very crucial to him, allowing him to find and harness his natural strengths as a musician and discovering his own style, voice and character. Dom would play anything and everything by ear when he listened to the radio/TV, while keeping a special place in his heart for melodic rock. After being the most prized all-around musician in his high school, Dom finally found home in the drums once again, deciding to make it his full-time instrument. The movement, physicality, style, raw expression, musicality.. everything about the craft made him fall in love with the art of drumming. Dominic was offered a Bachelor of Music course at the Australian Institute of Music despite not having his Higher School Certificate. During the years of studying and gigging, he has toured, performed and recorded with some of Australia's leading and upcoming talents. He has learnt from some of the world's best musician educators and his studies and exploration has led him to finding a deep passion for experimental music. Dcd is available for private lessons and is currently regularly playing with Cyrus, SSJ & Jeremy Gregory. He is proudly endorsed by Sonor Drums, UFiP Cymbals & Silverfox Drumticks. THE WEST SESSIONS A couple of years ago, Don had a heavy feeling of incompletion and couldn't shake it off. He had made a career out of playing music in the "city scene" but it felt selfish and distant from the people who raised and nurtured me in the arts. He missed the peers who mentored him and breathed the same passion for music, without ANY money or politics involved.. Just for the pure love of it. Finally, some friends and Don have the opportunity to give back, reconnect, (hopefully) inspire, and just have a fun old time sharing music with anyone and everyone; the youth groups, the churches, the schools and multicultural families. "After all, some of the heaviest mf's come from the west ;) Please join us for some nights of good vibes and let's make the scene back home alive again ;) The West Sessions." Says Don! https://www.facebook.com/thewestsessions/timeline

I found Gabe Bondoc to be so humble and so giving of his time. I was only supposed to have a 10min interview but it ended up being much longer which I am so grateful for. He genuinely wanted to help our budding performers out. Gabe certainly has created a lifestyle and business he truly loves and he is truly proud that he can support his family through music and being creative. Often we see musicians with a Struggle mindset but what I have come to realise by chatting with Gabe is that when you are a singer/musician who knows he is blessed and who is grateful you won't be in a reactfull or scarcity mode. As full time musicians the internet can give us opportunities to reach more people not only in your own backyard but around the world. That is what Gabe has created for himself. He has generated income by working hard, putting in the hours and thinking ahead. As full time musicians we are known to create something out of nothing. We can create sources of income with endless possibilities if we just work hard and as Gabe said strive for excellence. This is what we dive into For someone who has over 3 million views on YouTube, tell us how it all came about? I use singing as my way of releasing my frustrations and expressing myself. It’s a way to calm me and I enjoy the spiritual feeling I get from it. It must be the deep breathing and the centering. But what happens when singing is your job and sometimes you always fall sick before an important gig. Over the years, through dealing with students and professional singers, I had noticed that the first thing to go is the voice. What happens when you can’t overcome performance anxiety no matter how much you practice. This is where Melissa Zammit, of Pure Energy Therapies, comes in. This is just another resource that you can use to overcome performance anxiety or to prepare yourself for gigs, mentally and physically. Melissa is a fully qualified Energetic Healing practitioner. (Diploma of Energetic Healing). She has a background in Cancer Nursing and experience as a Clinical Nurse Consultant working directly with woman with Breast Cancer. Melissa and I first met at a Marie Forleo’s B-school gathering and from the moment I met her I was drawn to her work. This energy healing is not to replace any medical professional advice. I know you will get a lot of practical tips within this interview to help you as a performer. We chat about her work and how it has helped many people, her gift of seeing spirits, which angel to call upon to help clear blockages, and the affirmations and techniques (EFT) that will help you to manifest the performance you want. Here are my questions and what you will learn: Tell us about what you do? What is energy? How can your work help singers and performers? What are some ways that someone at home can clear their own energy so they can be more confident? How to clear blocked energy through Chakra meditation? Karly Nimmo is the host of very popular business podcast Karlosophies After a seriously bad haircut (a ‘frullet’) from an evil hairdresser who, after revealing his disaster, dared to mutter the words ‘There! Now you have the perfect head for radio!’, Karly decided she was far too attractive to continue in radio land. It was time for a change. While her stunning looks made her an obvious choice for a life in front of the camera, her nous for business, warm vocal abilities, terrible haircut and emotionally scarring from said hairdresser, led her straight to the recording booth. She has voiced, and co-ordinated projects for big names… like Telstra, NAB, Panasonic, Sensis, McAfee, Jims, Ebay and Brambles. In addition, Karly has narrated a 26 part television series, can be heard in schools Australia wide via electronic whiteboards and has played many a character in children’s software programs. Her friendly, unpatronising and well rounded sound makes her ideal for learning – at both an adult and children’s level. While her once hideous hair cut is these days just a distant memory, the emotional scarring remains… she is destined to be behind the mic (and behind the business) and, thankfully, that is where she’ll remain. It's difficult to put someone like Karly Nimmo into just one box. At her very core, Karly is a connector, communicator and creator. She also wears hats as a small business mentor, mastermind facilitator, voice over artist and agent, keen podcaster and writer, but above all, a devoted and loving mother. Oh and she's funny as all hell. We chat about: 1. How she got started as a voice over artist 2. How she prepares for her Voice over work? 3. Who are her mentors and who she draws inspiration from? 4. How to create a portable sound booth 5. Advice would you give to someone who is looking into using their voice as a career. Karly’s tips to becoming a Voice over Artist 1. A voice that truly change my world! It's a great honour to have Elly Oh on my Podcast. Because of Elly's resourcefulness I am so fortunate to see the Dalai Lama with her. She will have the honour to sing for his holiness during his visit here in Sydney. How did she get the gig? She asked!!! She offered her services as a gift so she can meet his holiness and in return was offered two free tickets to the event. What a lifetime experience and also an opportunity to share your gift with one of the most respected people on earth. That is something money cannot buy. Elly is one of the most resourceful singer I know. She is not afraid to go after what she wants and helps create opportunities around her. Born in South Korea, Elly Oh has been in the music industry for over 10 years. She first discovered her passion for music when she was 18 years old after volunteering to sing to an old patient at the hospital where the nurse thought Elly had an amazing voice. After studying Bachelor of Opera at the University of Hanyang in South Korea, Elly moved to Italy to pursue her opera career and complete a diploma of Opera. Elly has performed at various Opera events including places in Italy, Korea and also in Sydney. She has won various awards for her Opera abilities including first prize in the McDonalds Opera competition (World Song). After moving to Sydney, Australia Elly has changed her vocal style to pop as she enjoyed the upbeat music. She is currently teaching students to sing in a private studio based on her Opera techniques as well as performing the occasional special event. In May 2014, Elly appeared on the Voice Australia 2014 where she blew away 4 coaches within 5 secs of her blind audition with her powerful rendition of Jessie J's "Mama Knows Best". During the Battle Rounds she continued to wow Australia and the world (alongside her mentor and coach Ricky Martin) with her Opera voice and was clearly the early favourite to win the Voice Australia 2014. Moving to Sydney only 5 years ago, knowing very little English, Elly found the courage and motivation to audition on national television for The Voice Australia 2014, placing her in the Top 12 out of 8000 plus auditions and is now considered one of Australia’s lovable artist. Inspired by Elly's determination I have come up with 10 ways to be a resourceful singer to land better gigs and opportunities. I am assuming you are a wonderful singer already! Brian Lorenz was born to perform! Born and raised in a small town in the Philippines, he started singing and dancing at school from an early age. His late father always encouraged him to perform and he was often putting on a show for him in exchange for lollies. As a common trend in his hometown, Brian moved to the big city to explore the opportunities that Manila could offer. One opportunity lead to another and he travelled to many countries for dance engagements. For Brian to fulfill his dreams and aspirations he knew he would have to leave the Philippines and so Australia became the lucky country and in 2008 Brian arrived in Sydney to start a new life. He began his journey by studying hairdressing whilst continuing with his dancing and quickly became entrenched in the Ballroom Dancing community. In 2009, Brian's talent for dancing was spotted and he was offered a scholarship to study his Bachelor of Dance at Wesley College in Sydney where he graduated in 2011. After dancing for over a decade, Brian never had confidence in his singing until he was prevented from entering a Talent Quest as a dancer (as he was too good and too experienced). Instead he entered as a vocalist. He went on to win the quest singing one of his now signature songs "The Prayer". Realising now that he could sing, Brian whilst still studying continued to enter Talent Quests around Sydney and became well acquainted to performing with a live band and over time gained popularity in the main stream and in the Filipino community. The experience was invaluable and after winning competitions at Blacktown RSL, Cabra-Vale Diggers, Lakemba Ex Servicemen’s Club and Canterbury Bankstown Leagues Club, he has transitioned into being one of the featured performers in many leading clubs and venues all over New South Wales. Since the start of his professional performing career he has already shared the stage with Australia’s leading and multi-awarded international performers Karen Beckett, Stephen Fisher King, Kel-Anne Brandt and Lisa Crouch. Not to mention Australia’s X-Factor winners Dami Im and Marlisa Ann and Israel X-Factor winner Rose Fostanes. In 2013, Brian started producing his own shows and has received outstanding reviews. With his wonderful voice from heaven and his unique ability to entertain he has created a big fan base and due to widespread requests saw him launch his debut album "It's Time" at his spectacular self produced production show at Rooty Hill RSL in October 2014. Brian has become one of the most sought after Filipino artists in Australia. He can sing, he can dance and he sure can entertain!
