In my book that is rarely a reason that will make you feel confident. Nor will it give you the best price you can have.Knowing why your price is what it is, is what's going to give you the confidence to charge the prices that you need in your business. The best price is one that's both good for the customer and good for you. That represents the value and is suitably profitable for the business. Without those conditions being met, you've got the wrong price. And that's what this episode's guest is here to share with her.In This Episode:In this episode I sit down with Bethany Hawkins, CEO & Founder of Crackers in Soup. One of her biggest learnings was that she didn't account for all the costs in her business when she was setting prices. It resulted in her not have a full view of what the businesses needed in profit and in under pricing. She's going to share that and more as we discuss her pricing journey.Podcast Highlights0:00 Intro2:13 Getting to Know Bethany4:11 The Value Bethany Brings to Clients6:51 How did Bethany Start Her Business9:08 Pricing at the Beginning10:50 Pricing Journey14:06 Most Difficult Thing in Pricing17:31 Biggest Success in Pricing20:37 Best Business Advice22:26 Reason Behind Crackers in Soup24:28 Wrapping It UpHow to Reach Bethany:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bcrackersinsoup/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/crackersinsoup/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@crackers_in_soupWebsite: https://www.crackersinsoup.comBook Recommendation: The Silent Patient by Alex MichaelidesRecommended Tool: AsanaDon't go yet. Do you want your podcast to rank higher in search engines? Deirdre Tshien from Capsho is sharing the solution – The SEO strategy for podcasts – so that you can get your podcast to the top of the search results. "The more simple that you can make it, the more that you can break down your sentences so that they're short and sharp and snappy and get to the point. Then that's going to be better for the machine to read it. But it's also actually going to be better.." Deirdre Tshien is the founder of Capsho, an AI-powered podcast copywriter that creates episode show notes, descriptions, social media posts, captions, promotional emails, blog posts, and transcripts in under 10 minutes. She is also the host of Grow My Podcast Show, a podcast for podcasters looking to grow their show. This is Deirdre Tshien's story... I was first introduced to podcasting when my mentor suggested it as a platform to build my credibility and authority. I was new to the tech and set up, but I decided to just start anyway. After a few months, I realized that I wanted an ROI on the time I was putting into podcasting and I started to look into ways to grow my show. That's when I discovered SEO. SEO is the practice of optimizing your web content to make it more visible to search engines. I realized that if I could make my podcast more visible to search engines, I would have a better chance of being discovered by new listeners. I've since transitioned away from social media and towards SEO as my primary method of marketing my podcast.  In this episode, you will learn the following: 1. How to make the most of your podcast collateral 2. How to make an impact with your podcast 3. How SEO can help you grow your podcast Resources: Learn more about Podbean's Enterprise and Business solutions that are trusted by industry leaders world wide, read case studies and more. Subscribe to our email newsletter to get industry updates: https://www.podbean.com/email-subscribe  Podbean's blog on Improving Your Company Newsletter with Podcasts Podbean's Enterprise Solution and Case Studies.   Chapter Summaries: [00:00:01] - Podcasting Smarter is the official podcast from Podbean. In today's episode, Norma Jean Belenky and Deirdre Tshien of Capsho will talk about SEO best practices and how to make the most of your podcast collateral to grow your podcast. [00:00:47] - Capsho is an AI powered podcast copywriter. It creates episodes, show notes, description, social media, captions, promotional email, blog post, YouTube, LinkedIn article and full transcript in under 10 minutes. It is the fastest way that podcasts can promote and grow their podcast shows. [00:01:48] - Deirdre got into podcasting in 2020 when she was coaching e-commerce business owners on how to grow their businesses. She didn't know what she was doing at first, but after 3 months of consistent podcasting, she realized she was getting a lot of downloads and conversions from her podcast. [00:04:22] - SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Google is the biggest search engine and YouTube is owned by Google. There are many factors that go into SEO such as the keywords, rich media, relevant images and videos, backlinks and social media. Having a content-forward approach is important. [00:06:31] - SEO maximization is important for a business. When she first started podcasting, Deirdre focused more on driving traffic to her podcast through social media. Now she's focusing more on SEO and thinks it's more valuable for his business than social media because it's a long-term strategy. [00:08:45] - SEO is the foundation of podcasting. Google wants to surface more podcasts. As part of search, Google is going to focus more on text-based search. Podcasting is a hot medium and everyone wants a piece of it. SEO improves the searchability and longevity of a podcast. [00:11:47] - SEO is a combination of technical and content aspects of search engine optimization. It's important to make sure that you are targeting things that people are searching for. Moz gives you an indication as to whether the keywords you're using is going to rank. People generally only take information at a fourth grade level. People should always look at how readable their stuff is. Rich media includes things other than the words. Google loves images and videos as it gives it more things to look into. If you're writing everything yourself and you're not writing it within the understanding of AI, you may not rank as high. [00:19:05] - The more content you have out there, the more credibility you are building. With a search engine like Google, for example, backlinks are a way to build authority and credibility. Promotional swaps and blog swaps are also good ways to get those backlinks. [00:21:40] - SEO is the process of setting up a formula for consistently hitting these SEO benchmarks in podcasting. A lot of people enter the podcasting space as a creative outlet to use their voice, to hone their voice, and to make sure their voice is heard. Some podcasts are solo and some are guest based, which makes starting from SEO keyword search a lot more difficult.  [00:28:30] - In terms of podcasting. Making sure that your content is SEO optimized also benefits accessibility for your podcast. People consume information in different ways, so repurposing the podcast into an SEO optimized form like a blog post makes it more accessible for people who don't learn through an auditory way. [00:30:17] - Deirdre believes that podcasting is going to keep growing. Short form content is the future of the industry. People's attention spans are getting shorter. People can listen to audio content while they're doing other things.  [00:32:14] - Deirdre Tshien started in entrepreneurship over nine years ago. She likes listening to Brene Brown's podcasts, Darling to Lead.  Deirdre is also a big fan of the How I Built This podcast.  Other episodes you'll enjoy: The Power of Podcasting: How to Make an Impactful Podcast Ad  How to Create a Top Branded Podcast with Chris O'Keeffe from JAR Audio Podcast Entrepreneurship and Creating a 6-figure Podcast Business with Bethany Hawkins of Crackers in Soup    About us: Podcast Smarter is the official in-house podcast by Podbean.  Podbean is a podcast publishing and monetization service, hosting almost 620,000 podcasts.  If you're looking to start your own podcast, monetize your podcast and livestream directly to your listeners, you can set up an account at podbean.com    Connect with us: Subscribe to our email newsletter to get updates from the team head over to: https://www.podbean.com/email-subscribe Find us on socials: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/podbean  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/podbeancom YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0H3hvTa_1_ZwFg6RjGNXGw/  Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/podbeancom   LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/podbean  Website: https://podcast.podbean.com/    Email us: To contact Podcasting Smarter with questions get in contact at podcastingsmarter@podbean.com

TW: In this episode, Darryl and Terri share their stories which contain stories of past abuse.Sometimes the most unexpected meetings are exactly what you need to understand yourself a little more. That was certainly the case with this week's episode. Though I met Terri Lomax for the first time when we recorded, we soon found that we connected on a deeper level than I'd anticipated. Both of us have spent years learning about ourselves, how our adversity-filled childhoods continue to affect us as adults, and what we want to change for the people that come after us. In this raw, vulnerable episode, we explore our journeys to understanding, accepting, and healing what we've endured. In a conversation that left us in tears, we go deep into our stories, hoping that doing so helps you find the validation and healing you might need too.In this episode, you'll learn:About Terri's podcast, where she dives into taboo topics to make them more approachable and to facilitate healing within them. How dating herself helped Terri uncover and develop her identity after years of being a social chameleon.More about my own childhood, including how my parents' choices affected my development and led to a similar social chameleon defense mechanism. Why both of our traumatic upbringings robbed us of the ability to ask what we want, something we had to learn through therapy and self-discovery as adults. To fill your cup first so you can be more present and capable of showing up for the other people and needs in your life. How I'm using my journey through imposter syndrome to create systems that can lessen the same struggle for my children and other freelancers. The ways our childhoods prepared us for the challenges in life, plus ways that we can harness these skills in the workplace.Which grace practices Terri uses to heal the self-hatred created by childhood abuses. To talk to and treat yourself with love so you can demand the same level of respect from others. That feeling emotions, both positive and negative, is such an important part of healing and living a wholehearted life.Tennielle Clark host of She Speaks Bougie introduced us to Terri.
