JEFFREY DEAN MORGAN REVEALED TO BUTCHER! The Boys Season 4 Full Reaction Watch Along: https://www.patreon.com/thereelrejects The Boys Season 4 Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis, Spoiler Review, Easter Eggs, & Ending Explained! In "Dirty Business" Vice President-elect Victoria Neumann (Claudia Doumit) drops a bombshell, claiming democracy is a sham at a secretive right-wing fundraiser. She declares that corporations like Apple, Exxon, and Berkshire Hathaway run America, urging the wealthy attendees to support her coup against POTUS-elect Robert Singer (Jim Beaver). With Homelander (Antony Starr) backing her plan, a dangerous plot unfolds to replace Singer and his "woke mob." Homelander's villainy is on full display as he manipulates the elite, framing their coup as a necessity to prevent a supposed liberal takeover. Amidst this chaos, the episode ventures into NSFW territory, reminiscent of past shockers like "Herogasm." Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) goes undercover as Web Weaver (Spider-Man parody) at the fundraiser but quickly regrets it as he's pulled into disturbing games by Tek Knight (Derek Wilson) and Ashley (Colby Minifie). Despite the absurdity, Hughie's emotional turmoil is palpable, culminating in a heartfelt breakdown to Annie (Erin Moriarty). The action intensifies when Mother's Milk has a heart attack and A-Train must save him. Annie and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) infiltrate Tek Knight's lair, uncovering Homelander's sinister plans for internment camps. They torture Tek by threatening his wealth, learning of the impending horrors. Meanwhile, Sage (Valorie Curry) faces a life-threatening crisis after being shot by MM (Laz Alonso), raising questions about her future as a Supe. The episode also delves into Butcher's (Karl Urban) psyche, revealing his hallucinations of Joe Kessler (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) as a manifestation of guilt. With Election Year gearing up between Donald Trump & Joe Biden, this season seems to be honoring the America we know. The Boys cast & characters consist of Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie Campbell, Antony Starr as Homelander, Erin Moriarty as Starlight/Annie January, Dominique McElligott as Queen Maeve, Jessie T. The Boys Season 4 Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis, Spoiler Review, Easter Eggs, & Ending Explained! We get the Gen V crossover with Cate & Sam as well as Ted Knight and Hughie Sr. getting Supers powers leading to a Simon Pegg death scene. The episode's bizarre plot centers around a lab run by Victoria Neumann, where her ex-boyfriend experiments with a Supe-killing virus. This leads to an unexpected confrontation with superpowered livestock—buffalos, sheep, and chickens—injecting even more madness into the storyline…but not before getting a parody of Marvel & DC panels at comic-con with their Vought announcement slate! The episode kicks off with The Boys infiltrating Victoria Neumann's secret lab, aiming to steal the Gen V virus, a dangerous bioweapon. Things go awry when the infected animals break free, attacking everyone in sight. Victoria threatens to blow up The Boys and Stan Edgar, who is temporarily out of prison, but her hesitation leads to a wild chase. Amidst the chaos, we see Butcher, MM, Frenchie, and Stan scrambling to escape the superpowered animals. The tension escalates when Victoria, Kimiko, and Starlight, despite their powers, fail to effectively counter the rogue livestock. The episode also highlights the ongoing manipulation and corruption within Vought. At the V52 Expo, a parody of Comic-Con, various new franchises and shows are announced, including A-Train's movies and a new gender-flip series for Gen V's Cate and Sam. Meanwhile, Homelander, seemingly supportive of his son Ryan's reluctance to star in a TV show, ultimately manipulates him into punishing a director for harassment, showcasing the sinister father-son dynamics. Billy Butcher's plan to steal the Supe-killing virus fails, but he reveals a backup strategy involving the kidnapping of Sameer, Vic's ex who can recreate the virus. Butcher's conversation with Joe Kessler, who appears to be a figment of his brain damage, adds another layer of psychological complexity to his character. With Election Year gearing up between Donald Trump & Joe Biden, this season seems to be honoring the America we know. Black Panther finally gets a game. Another game developer has labor news. One of our favorite comics and TV shows makes a crossover appearance and everything announced at the Nintendo direct. http://www.joystickandmouse.com http://shop.joystickandmouse.com https://www.patreon.com/joystickandmouse Show Notes In exciting news EA has just announced a new studio along with an upcoming game based on the Black Panther franchise. The studio is called Cliffhanger Games, and it's based in Seattle. It's made up of veterans of Monolith Productions, the developer which previously made both Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War. There are also veterans from God of War, Halo, Call of Duty, and more on the dev team. https://www.gamesradar.com/ea-black-panther-game-announcement/ https://www.theverge.com/2023/7/10/23787287/ea-black-panther-game-single-player There have been countless reports and allegations of low pay, long hours, and poor working conditions within the gaming industry over the past several years, especially when it comes to QA testing departments and other key areas of game development. As a result, a growing number of video game studios have decided to unionize, with some of the most publicized examples including Zenimax and Activision Blizzard. Sega of America joined those ranks this week as their members voted to unionize the workforce. https://gamerant.com/sega-of-america-union/ He can fly. He can shoot lasers from his eyes. He is incredibly strong and bullets just bounce right off him. He also is one ... big ... asshole. Bet you thought I was talking about that other guy. Nope, we were describing the one and only Homelander , who along with Starlight and Black Noir are coming to Call of duty this week. You will be able to take on the persona of these characters to battle royal in the popular Call of Duty multiplayer games. https://www.gameinformer.com/2023/07/10/the-boys-invades-call-of-duty-this-week Nintendo held its summer direct presentation this past week and the 40 minute show had lots of reveals (well a few anyways) and lots of information about upcoming Nintendo games. So lets take a look at what was announced and see if we are intrigued by any of it. https://www.ign.com/articles/nintendo-direct-june-2023-everything-announced https://www.theverge.com/2023/6/21/23768463/nintendo-direct-june-2023-announcements-trailers-news Video Game Review So Much Great TV Right Now
If the title doesn't give it away, Wolverine is finally wearing his comics accurate suit. THIS IS NOT A DRILL! 24 years later and its finally happening. Anyway, Microsoft seems to have won its case against the FTC, and its acquisition of ActivisionBlizzard should be able to go through. The Emmys have announced their nominees, Ashoka released a trailer, and Bog Iger isn't going anywhere anytime soon. That and a whole lot more.

The Boys - Episode 308 - "The Instant White-Hot Wild". Karl Urban (Billy Butcher), Antony Starr (Homelander). Credit: Courtesy of Amazon Studios. Copyright: Amazon Studios 2022. Another season of The Boys has come and gone and instead of the usual cliffhanger ending, we've been left with more of a "pause" button on the proceedings. In "The Instant White-Hot Wild", some old characters have been moved off stage, as in Queen Maeve and Black Noir. Others keep hanging around like dog poop on your lawn mowing shoes, as in the case of A-Train and The Deep. And others yet have had some big changes, like Mother's Milk, Frenchie, Kimiko, and not to mention Butcher himself. The most noteworthy and potentially show-ending plotline, the suddenly complicated family life of Homelander, the man with previously no family that he knew of, took an unexpected and delightfully dark turn with the re-acquisition of Ryan. But with Grandpa Solider Boy again on ice, fans are left to wonder how his super-powerful presence looms upon seasons to come. Fans loved seeing Jensen Ackles playing against type as the uber-macho superhero, but will that be enough to draw Ackles back into the cast next season? Or will next season spend more time on Homelander's growing impact on warping the mind of Becca's son? In this podcast, Paul, Inez, and Cat spend a loooong time chatting about all of the finale's events and try to project forward what they hope to get when Amazon decides to "un-pause" the story next time. Believing Vought and Homelander's lies he's causing a rift in their family. Meanwhile Soldier Boy is on a mission with Hughie and Butcher to get another member of Payback “Mindstorm”. But when he's confronted Mindstorm sends Billy into his worst nightmare, back to his abusive childhood. He has to watch on as his younger brother Lenny is driven to suicide. After Soldier Boy takes out Mindstorm he learns that Homelander is more closely related to him than he thought. He's his offspring, his bouncing supe baby boy and he calls Homelander to share the good news. Well it happened again folks. We lost the run of ourselves ranting about the biggest episode of The Boys so far with Herogasm. There's a hell of a lot to cover in this episode so we decided to do a two parter. Join us for part one as we rant about Black Noir's runner, Homelander's mirror madness, Soldier Boy adjusting to modern life, MM on the rampage and Vic's chat with Annie. Then we get real ranty when we ask if Little Nina is boring and whether she should have come back at all? Find us on twitter @rantsmono or send a message to monorantspodcast@gmail.com
The infamous "Herogasm" is upon us and man, did it deliver on the FILTH! What's going on with Black Noir? Is Soldier Boy better or worse than Homelander? Is Billy Butcher worse than both of them? How many STDs were at the Herogasm Party and WHERE is Maeve?! Let's watch the show! It's recommended to listen to this commentary on rewatches of this series!

This week on Pop Uncultured, more frustration, anger, and failure! We pick up where we left off on last week's caper, the virtual escape room mystery known as Black Noir. But this time...we have a secret weapon. If you've listened to this show regularly, you can probably guess what it is (it's not the n word). Once we engage our "secret weapon", this mystery falls before us like wheat before the scythe. We solve it and set the world record, probably. It's gay porn by the way, the secret weapon. After the bad idea to do a virtual mystery, I have a new bad idea to read an article about the Sims 4. In case you didn't know, the Sims 4 has a unique and diverse playerbase that is equal parts unique and diverse. This unique diversity was worth writing an article about. I read it doggedly and drunkenly, ne'er to be dismayed by naysayers. You're welcome for keeping you up to date with the latest in "gamer news", hot off the presses. I'm like G4 over here. And what would any Pop Uncultured be if we didn't revisit one of the old classics? That's right, people, you get you yo ear buds, you get you yo phone, you get you a chair, and you set down and listen up cuz ya'll know it's Amy Smith back in the (lots of) flesh. This time, she teaches us to make a dang sandwich, after admitting to botching the recipe for the sandwich in a previous video. Only a talent as massive as Amy Smith could jam pack 1 minute of video with such quality. And only a mouth as massive as Amy Smith could jam pack 1 pound of bacon with such ease. She's a darling lady and if anybody out there can tell me her a/s/l, I'll give you an Ethereum.Sims 4 article: https://gamerant.com/sims-4-players-majority-young-women/Presley's Peanut Butter and Bacon Sandwich by Amy Smith: https://youtu.be/V4Ej17EKzv0

This week on Pop Uncultured, a bad idea for a podcast! Too bad, I'm posting it anyway. Beggars can't be choosers, and it's not like anyone is begging for this dirt filth podcast about r words saying n words. Part 2 is funnier because we abandon all notion of earnest effort and proceed to not give a shit, even more than we don't give a shit by the end of this episode. They can't all be winners so enjoy or don't enjoy, but just know that if you don't enjoy, then tough shit because I'm calling this episode "avant garde" which means you can't criticize it. You slobs just don't understand art.Oh also we watch Epic Meal Time for some reason. Canadians sure are a bunch of fucking morons. Bacon lmao XD
Well, to quote a certain song, The Boys are indeed back in town. Dustin "The Duster" Mason makes his return to the show to talk about one of his & Dom's absolute favorite shows, Amazon's The Boys! As one of the only shows that we as viewing audiences were graced with during the pandemic, we were forced to patiently wait two years for the return of the third season, but since 2022 is the year that keeps on giving in terms of peak TV, The Boys follows up a series of returning shows that are coming back after roughly between a two to four year wait, with Ozark, Atlanta, Stranger Things, Barry & Better Call Saul all coming back this year. Based of the Garth Ennis comic book series of the same name and show run by Eric Kripke, the Boys covers a group of off the books black ops-esque crew that seeks to destabilize and take down the various and assorted superheroes, who are primarily all depicted as egotistical, narcissic, mentally unstable people who cause vast amounts of collateral damage and are constantly protected by the evil conglomerate company, Vought. Featuring returning players Karl Urban as Butcher, Antony Starr as Homelander, Jack Quaid as Hugh Campbell, Erin Moriarty as Starlight, Dominique McElligott as Queen Maeve, Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk, Jesse T. Usher as A-Train, Chace Crawford as the Deep, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko, Nathan Mitchell as Black Noir and introducing Supernatural alumni Jensen Ackles as a new addition Soldier Boy, the show returns with all the satire and violence that we loved about the first two seasons, and potentially a way to take down Homelander. It's a whole new season to kick off the summer season of television and we're covering it all right here on the #talkintvpodcast --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/talkintvpodcastgmailcom/support
Chris returns to join Derek to chat about The Boys Season 3 Episode 2 Barbary Coast. We discuss the flashback and a new state of mind for Homelander as we go into full spoiler filled detail. The Boys Season 3 Episode 3 Barbary Coast Synopsis Head Writer and Developed by - Eric Kripke Based on the comic series from Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson Executive Producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Episode written by: Anslem Richardson and Geoff Aull Episode directed by: Julian Holmes Spoiler filled Synopsis: Following his confrontational birthday speech on live TV, Homelander's stock has gone up 21 points particularly with disaffected white males in the rust belt. But this boost has given him new confidence as popularity equals power at Vought Industries. Homelander goes against his co-captain Starlight's wishes and brings The Deep back into the Seven. But Deep has to pay his dues and show Homelander he's willing to play ball by having his octopus friend Timothy for dinner. With The Deep's return and the addition of American Hero winner Supersonic to the team, the Seven are now complete. But Homelander has one twist to announce to the public. He and Starlight are now a couple. With a clenched fist and gritted teeth Starlight goes with this new storyline. #Homelight Elsewhere Billy, Mothers Milk, Hughie and Kamiko confront Grace Mallory about her operations in Nicaragua and dealings with Soldier Boy, the former head of Payback. While Mallory was running a government sanctioned drug running operation in 1984 a young Stan Edgar brought the supe team with him as his first test of his idea for Supes in the military. When Russian forces attack Mallory's camp Edgar's test quickly fails. Untrained and untested, Payback create havok, killing half of Mallory's team and their own. Black Noir is left permanently scarred and Soldier Boy is captured, taken deep into Russian territory. As Butcher takes in the story and the seeming betrayal of Grace Mallory he recovers from his experience with V24. But his supe step son Ryan realises there is something very wrong with him as he detects Billy's faster heartbeat and smells the V in his blood. Billy lashes out pushing the boy away and telling him it's too dangerous to see him again. Meanwhile after being contacted by his old flame Cherie, Frenchie has a meeting with Russian gangster Little Nina. In exchange for keeping Cherie safe Nina wants him to work for her again. Frenchie negotiates his way out of there but Billy needs the Russian connection and forces him to go back and arrange a meeting. Intro Background (1:43) Homelander created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson in The Boys #3 (Nov. 2006) Introduced as the leader and most powerful member of the Seven, a group of corporate-sponsored superheroes Initially comes off as affable, only to reveal he's actually a misogynistic jerk - and it gets worse from there Public backstory is that he was an alien who landed on Earth, but in reality his mother was a mentally disabled woman who died in childbirth, and he was the byproduct of genetic experiments from Stormfront, a Nazi superhero - he spent his childhood strapped to a hydrogen bomb in case he tried to escape Homelander hates being a hero, but only does so because Vought pays him handsomely Later revealed that Billy Butcher, head of a group of humans who hate the Seven, has special dislike for Homelander because Homelander raped his wife, who died giving birth to a superpowered baby, which Billy then killed immediately #BecauseComics Homelander is revealed to have no memory of this or many other horrific acts which he is blamed for - this causes him to have a psychotic break and begin doing whatever he wants He has no memory because the horrible acts were actually committed by Black Noir, a clone of Homelander that Vought created to keep Homelander in check - since Black Noir's sole purpose was to kill Homelander, he gaslit Homelander to drive him insane in order to justify killing him - Homelander and Black Noir fight, and Black Noir kills Homelander, but is injured enough that Billy could finish him off with a crowbar Issues (8:46) Matt: Wow. The layers upon layers to this guy. He really is just the embodiment of the nature versus nurture argument writ large, isn't he? Injected with an artificial compound to give him superpowers in the womb, mother died giving birth to him, spent his entire childhood chained to a hydrogen bomb so he wouldn't escape from Vought. Raised with no other purpose in life but to become a living corporate-sanctioned product whose image and likeness would be sold for profit while he awed and wowed a company's customers. Given every single ounce of hedonistic excess he could ever want by his company to keep him happy and cooperative and, basically, to stop him from using his powers to destroy the world and/or enslave the human race. This naturally instilled in him some deep-seated psychological issues: 1. Entitlement. I mean...holy crap. The man's mantra is, "I can do whatever the fuck I want." Coercing women into sex? Not a problem. Gleefully using his powers against civilians? Assholes shouldn't have been standing there. It's positively bone-chilling the way he doesn't even give his actions a second thought, or much of a first one. 2. Complete lack of empathy. The man does not even consider non-Supes to be people. Absolutely does not care about the damage any of his actions cause. Also can't even be bothered to try to help people in need unless it's his bosses telling him to. On 9/11, doesn't even want to try and save the plane until someone points out they'll probably get fired if they don't. (13:54) 3. Unapologetically racist and sexist. Has a hierarchy, even among his fellow supes. Women are beneath men. Nonwhites are beneath whites. Basically anyone who's not him or just like him is beneath him. Referencing The Deep, as Bill Burr would say, he drops the hard "r", hits the dismount, and sticks the landing. Multiple times. Views Maeve and Starlight as sex objects first, superheroes second. But, and this is a but, it's implied that he at least tried to adhere to the idealism of a hero early on in his career, even if he was a bit of a prick about it. And it was nonstop long-term gaslighting campaign of Black Noir -- tricking him into believing he suffered from blackouts where he committed horrific acts of rape and mass murder and had no memory of it -- that caused him to go full-blown monster. That he thought to himself, in for a penny, in for a pound. After he's descended into what we see in the comics, we learn that the major issue that he's struggled with his whole life is that, as Stillwell points out in their big confrontation, with all his power, he is really nothing special at his core. There is literally not one person chosen at random who couldn't do everything he'd done in his life if they were given his powers. Oh boy, does that eat at him. He's nobody, just a guy who won the superpower lottery and decided to treat it like most people do when they win the actual lottery. Man, that's a lot of meat to chew on right there. Real-life analogue? Ummm...Dance Moms, anyone? Child actors? Child beauty pageant contestants? Kids who are steered into an activity before they have any inkling of whether or not they actually want to do it and pushed on relentlessly by obsessive parents who want their kids to be the best to satisfy their own egos, robbing them of a childhood and making them sincerely believe that they are better than anyone else? You don't have to go too far to imagine all the real-life Homelanders out there. Gaslighting by Black Noir (28:00) Break (34:41) Plugs for BetterHelp, Cheers to Comics, and Erica Schultz Treatment (36:33) In-universe - Make it a talk show, and hope to get him to some level of self-awareness Out of universe - (38:39) Does someone like this get a therapist who looks like them, or one who pushes their boundaries of comfort? Skit (NSFW warning) (46:28) DOC: Hello Homelander, I'm Dr. Issues. HOMELANDER: Good afternoon, Doc. I appreciate all mental health professionals. I may wear a cape, but you're a true hero. D: Thanks for that. H: So how long you been with the company? D: Company? H: Vought. I figure it has something to do with the casualties from our last appearance. Real shame those people were in the car. Unfortunately, those terrorists were too far away for me to get to in time, and I had to throw SOMEthing at them. D: I don't work… wait, what? H: You know how it is. Bad guys with guns. So I had to make a choice. There was a car nearby, so I threw it at the terrorists. Wasn't until I heard the screams that I realized it wasn't empty. And super though I may be, I'm only so fast. I mean, I'm no A-Train, that's for sure. D: Oh no...I've met many first responders who have had to make snap judgements like that, but not with such...force. H: Yeah, they're usually crybabies about it. I got over that s**t a long time ago. D: So you really don't care that there may have been any other way to handle life and death situations? H: Do you have any real suggestions? I can see someone like you acting all Monday morning quarterback, but who really gets their hands dirty? D: I'm not disrespecting you by asking to expand your thought process. You said you respect mental health professionals, right? H: Real professionals, yeah. D: What's that supposed to mean? H: Someone who got where they are through hard work and dedication, not just to fill some quota. You know, like we do with the Deep. D: Glad I have the GPA and scholarships to prove it then. Unless you think the people important enough to run this operation would place any random quack in here to talk to you. H: Anyway, I'm sure the paperwork monkeys have all that taken care of. I'll do some talk show appearances, a photo op with the family members of the… Johnsons? Johnstons? Johnbergs? Ah, who the f**k cares. D: Homelander, I'm sorry, I think there's been a misunderstanding. I don't work for Vought. H: Oh. Then why the f**k am I talking to you then? D: You are right, it's because those people died, though. H: Well like I said, their fault they were nearby. D: Oh my God, how does anyone believe you're a hero? H: Because I save poor bastards like you all the time. D: OK, I'm done pretending. Homelander, you are under arrest by the United State military in conjunction with the deaths of four civilians, along with mass property damage. I am here to assess your competence prior to trial. H: What. The. F**k. D: And to ensure your cooperation, you have been placed inside an energy field, which I might as well reveal to you now. *energy hum* H: Are you f**king kidding me? D: So now that we've gotten that out of the way H: You listen to me, you pencil pushing c*******er. You have no goddamn right to keep me here, and I assure you as soon as I get out the FIRST f**king thing I'm doing is ramming my fist so far down your throat you'll be able to chew out your own ass for being so f**king r******d. D: So since you're being detained, I don't need to tell you that this is meant as therapy to improve anything. You've already given me the information I need to make a decision as to whether or not you're dangerous. H: You're goddamn right I'm dangerous. I'm the most powerful f**king thing on the planet. There's no God, there's just me. And all you worthless peons can suck my asshole. D: At this point, due to your severe agitation, I'm required to ask if you have any history of medication that has helped you to stay calm and perhaps relax for a while. H: I relax by jerking off. And when I'm done killing you, I'll jerk off on your f**king corpse. D: Duly noted. Then it's my selection with regards to… hmm… how do we deliver medication to an invulnerable being? H: You aren't going to deliver S**T, do you understand? For someone who's supposedly smart enough to graduate whatever degree mill you came from, you're f**king oblivious to how utterly F**KED you are when I break this field. There isn't a thing that can hold me forever. And the fact that you haven't run away screaming means you're even dumber than you look, you stupid ni- D: Alright, that's enough of that. I was entertaining you up to this point, because your blustering isn't all that uncommon in my area of practice. But the racism is a special kind of heinous. So with that, we're done here. H: No, we're not done. You can walk away, but I promise, I will find you, and I *punch* will *punch* end *punch* you. D: Good luck with that. H: F**K YOU! AHHHHH! *punch* *shatter* D: Oh s*** H: *punch* *gory sound effects* I told you I'd kill you. And now to relax. *zip* *masturbates furiously* What the F**K did I tell you? I do whatever the F**K I want, when I want, because I'm f**king GOD. You little *ungh* s**t.
