Emily Blaschke is a Portland Art Gallery artist whose mixed-media assemblages transform found objects into vibrant, layered stories. In this conversation with Dr. Lisa Belisle, Emily shares how her art evolved from figurative work at UC Berkeley to the richly textural collages she now creates in Maine. Her inspiration often begins at antique shops or even the local dump, where she collects discarded materials—Barbie dolls, jewelry, paint, and nail polish—and gives them new life. With roots that stretch back to Down East Magazine, founded by her grandfather, Emily has deep ties to Maine's creative community and now helps foster it through her work with Yarmouth Arts and the Portland Museum of Art. Die gehäuften Luftraumverletzungen durch Russland haben Diskussionen in den betroffenen Staaten und auch bei der NATO ausgelöst: Wie kann, wie soll man darauf reagieren? Wie das Bündnis jetzt schon reagiert, erklärt Kilian Neuwert. Er beschäftigt sich in der BR-Politikredaktion mit sicherheits- und verteidigungspolitischen Themen und hat sich das so genannte "Air Policing" im Baltikum schon vor Ort angeschaut. Russische Provokationen im Westen sind aber auch eine Gefahr für die Ukraine. So sieht es unser Korrespondent in Kiew, Florian Kellermann. Die Gründe: Die betroffenen Staaten könnten sich mehr um sich selbst und die eigene Luftabwehr kümmern und zugleich die Unterstützung für die Ukraine vernachlässigen. Russischen Einfluss spüren auch die Menschen in Moldau. Bei der letzten Präsidentschaftswahl wurden Vorwürfe bis hin zum Stimmenkauf durchMoskau erhoben. Jetzt stehen die Parlamentswahlen an und wieder sehen Beobachter massiven russischen Einfluss. Die Wahl könnte für das kleine Land zwischen dem EU-Mitglied Rumänien und der Ukraine eine Schicksalswahl werden. Sagt unser Korrespondent Björn Blaschke. Setzen sich die von Moskau unterstützten prorussischen Parteien durch, droht politisches Chaos und wohl eine Abwendung von der EU. Noch nie zuvor hat eine Richterwahl in der Bundesrepublik so viel Aufmerksamkeit bekommen. Noch nie zuvor ist sie von einer Kampagne gegen eine Kandidatin begleitet worden, die dann ihren Rückzug erklärte, um Schaden von der Demokratie abzuwenden. Der Schaden ist trotzdem da, auch wenn die Wahl im zweiten Anlauf mit einer neuen Kandidatin über die Bundestags-Bühne ging. Welche Lehren aus dieser Wahl mit Hindernissen gezogen werden können und sollten, schlüsselt Wolfram Schrag auf.

Die Parlamentswahl am Wochenende ist für das kleine Moldau entscheidend: Geht das Land weiter in Richtung EU oder doch Richtung Russland?
