Travis Demers and Chad Doing break down All-Star Weekend, and the Blazers involvement. Including Deni Avidja's first appearance, Yang Hansen and Donovan Clingan in the Rising Stars Challenge, and Damian Lillard's third three point contest victory. Plus, why the All Star Game was actually entertaining, and why the slam dunk contest has become the worst event of the weekend. They also talked about the Blazers chances down the stretch of the season.
On the February 16, 2026 episode of the Little Column A, A Little Column B Podcast, hosts Willie Alimonos and Zach Bishop break down one of the strangest and most debate-heavy weeks in sports. From an Olympic fugitive story to NBA tanking fines, college basketball fights, NFL ownership debates, and even a Daytona 500 milestone, this episode blends hard takes, humor, and real conversations about accountability and the fan experience. The show opens with a bizarre Olympic anecdote — a Slovak man on the run for 16 years arrested while trying to attend a hockey game — which sparks a larger discussion about the rising cost of attending live sports and when fans will finally choose the couch over the arena. NBA All-Star Weekend gets a full breakdown, with Willie and Zach debating whether the new target-score format actually improved effort and watchability. They highlight standout moments from Victor Wembanyama and Kawhi Leonard, Damian Lillard's three-point win, and the Chris Paul skills challenge controversy. From there, the conversation turns serious: Adam Silver's response to tanking, fines handed down to teams like Utah and Indiana, and what real structural changes (draft reform? moving the trade deadline?) could fix the problem. College basketball coverage dives into on-court fights, dangerous plays, and Jerome Tang's firing after a brutally honest press conference at Kansas State. The hosts preview major matchups, assess draft prospects like Darren Peterson and Cameron Boozer, and break down Florida's resurgence and the shifting NCAA landscape. NFL talk includes a full betting season recap, the Tyreek Hill release and potential landing spots, and a spirited debate over NFL team report cards, workplace perks, and owner accountability. The episode also touches on Michael Jordan's Daytona 500 ownership milestone, an Olympic curling cheating controversy between Canada and Sweden, a canceled ski-jump round due to weather, and how Peacock's “Gold Zone” coverage is shaping Olympic viewing habits. Throughout the episode, Willie and Zach debate responsibility, league overreach, fan value, and what would actually make sports better to watch — or attend — in 2026.
In Hour 3 of the show the guys discuss Damian Lillard returning from a recovering torn ACL to just play in the 3pt contest and winning it amidst the All-Star format being subpar. Plus, the guys discuss the possible return of Derek Carr from retirement rumors, a condom shortage edition of The Leftovers, and more!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

All-Star Weekend was supposed to celebrate the league. Instead, it exposed a deeper structural problem. We break down everything that happened - from Damian Lillard winning his third 3-Point Contest to the collapse of the Dunk Contest, and why star participation is the real issue. Why are the biggest names avoiding Saturday night? Why does the league struggle to generate cultural moments the way it once did? And what does that say about incentives in today's NBA?The new tournament format on Sunday delivered. Victor Wembanyama set a competitive tone immediately. Kawhi Leonard turned back the clock. The intensity was real - but is it sustainable? This episode goes beyond reactions. We analyze: Why the Dunk Contest feels structurally broken How modern player economics changed All-Star incentives The difference between marketing metrics and actual fan engagement Whether the tournament format saved the game — or just delayed the problem What must change to protect the league's long-term cultural relevance All-Star Weekend isn't just about entertainment. It reflects the league's direction. And right now, that direction raises serious questions.

No Andres this week, so it's a throwback edition of Politically Uncorrect with just Michael and Jeff holding it down. The episode kicks off with reactions to the Super Bowl halftime show before Jeff casually admits to telling jokes at work that might've crossed a few lines — and the consequences (or lack thereof) that followed. From there, the conversation takes a surprisingly analytical turn as the guys discover how “rare” they are based on certain personal metrics, which leads to the addition of a brand-new deal breaker to their growing list. With NBA All-Star Weekend looming, they question Damian Lillard's participation in the 3-point contest despite not having played a game this season. Meanwhile, off the court drama surfaces with rumors of a Stefon Diggs and Cardi B breakup. All of this unfolds while Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs are actively putting belt to ass on the Lakers — much to Jeff's visible frustration. It's chaotic, nostalgic, off-topic in the best way, and exactly the kind of unfiltered back-and-forth that defined the early days of the pod.
In this latest episode of the Big Shot Bob Podcast, hosts Robert Horry, Brandon Harper, and Rob Jenners dive headfirst into an action-packed discussion on the latest happenings in the NBA. The episode kicks off with a talk about a recent intense NBA brawl that saw Isaiah Stewart and several others facing suspensions. The guys share their thoughts on NBA fights, how the league's image has been cleaned up over the years, and the implications for the involved teams, particularly focusing on the Pistons' evolving identity as the 'bad boys' of the modern era. They also discuss the dramatic aftermath and the culture of physical play in today's NBA compared to previous generations. Next, the crew delves into the NBA trade deadline aftermath, dissecting major trades such as James Harden's move to the Cavaliers and Darius Garland going to the Clippers. They analyze the impact of these trades on both teams in the short and long term. The conversation also covers other notable trades like Jonathan Kuminga's trade to the Hawks and Anthony Davis's surprising move to the Wizards. Amidst the trade-talk, there's speculation about Giannis Antetokounmpo's future and the possibility of him leaving the Bucks. The episode also touches on the Jazz's recent decisions, emphasizing their apparent push for tanking and the broader implications for the team and the league. The podcast isn't just limited to NBA drama; it also discusses the upcoming NBA All-Star Weekend, announcing participants for the Slam Dunk Contest and the Three-Point Contest. There's excitement about Damian Lillard's return to the three-point contest and the prospects of other sharp shooters. Additionally, the hosts celebrate the Seattle Seahawks' Super Bowl victory while sharing personal anecdotes from their Super Bowl weekend, including Robert Horry's surprising visit to Michael Bay's house. The episode wraps up with a lively game of Shootout, where the hosts test their knowledge on NBA Finals MVPs and teams that have never won a Super Bowl. 00:00 Introduction and Podcast Kickoff 01:22 NBA Brawl Breakdown 08:05 NBA Trade Deadline Aftermath 09:03 Giannis Trade Speculations 10:24 James Harden Trade Analysis 14:57 LeBron James' Future 23:14 Anthony Davis to the Wizards 29:51 Utah Jazz Tanking Strategy 36:32 Shaq's Controversial Comments and Jazz's Tanking Strategy 37:48 All Star Weekend Highlights and Predictions 40:07 NBA Standings and Ketamine Controversy 42:12 Super Bowl Recap and Michael Bay's Party 49:41 Big Shot of the Week: Heroic 13-Year-Old Saves Family 51:52 Shootout Game

Munaf Manji talks betting for Tuesday Jan 27th. Tuesday's Cash That Ticket podcast focused heavily on the NBA betting board while continuing an early buildup toward Super Bowl prop markets. Coming off a winning best bet on the Lakers Bulls over, the discussion opened with a detailed recap of recent results and quickly shifted to current league news that could impact pricing and market movement. The most significant update involved Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is expected to miss four to six weeks with a calf sprain suffered before halftime of his most recent appearance. The injury was framed as another setback for a Milwaukee team already derailed by Damian Lillard's Achilles injury last season, with the belief that any Giannis trade discussions are more likely to materialize in the offseason rather than at the deadline, when value would be harder to maximize. Attention then turned to Drew Holiday, with reporting that the Knicks are exploring trade avenues. His two way impact, playoff experience, and ability to stabilize an offense were cited as reasons he could elevate a contender, particularly New York, by easing the nightly burden on Jalen Brunson while anchoring perimeter defense. The episode also reviewed Monday's slate, including Atlanta's home win over Indiana, Charlotte's lopsided victory against Philadelphia, Cleveland's defensive minded win over Orlando, Minnesota's dominant performance against a Steph Curry less Golden State, and Houston's win over Memphis behind Alperen Sengun. Kevin Durant's January production for Houston drew special praise, noting his heavy minutes, consistent scoring, and efficiency across shooting splits, reinforcing his importance to the Rockets' playoff push. Updated standings showed Detroit leading the East with a sizable cushion, while Oklahoma City maintained control of the West. From a betting perspective, Knicks Kings was highlighted as a strong spot for New York's offense, particularly the team total, given Sacramento's poor defensive metrics. Pistons Nuggets was analyzed through an injury lens, with Denver missing multiple starters including Nikola Jokic, leading to an under recommendation based on pace, rest, and Detroit's elite recent defense. Clippers Jazz hinged on Kawhi Leonard's status, with James Harden positioned for increased usage if Leonard sits against a depleted Utah defense. The Super Bowl segment introduced an early prop angle on Patriots quarterback Drake May, targeting his rushing yards over, based on prior playoff usage and similar quarterback production against Seattle's defense. The show closed with a featured NBA prop on Jalen Brunson points and assists, banking on a healthy return and a favorable matchup against the Kings. Learn more about your ad choices. In this episode of the Hoop Genius Podcast, we break down three of the biggest storylines shaping the NBA right now - and how they may be more connected than they first appear. We start in Milwaukee, where turmoil around the Bucks has reached a boiling point. With the team struggling, injuries piling up, key personnel moves backfiring, and Giannis Antetokounmpo quietly fueling speculation about his future, we examine whether the Bucks have reached the end of their championship window. We analyze how the Jrue Holiday and Damian Lillard decisions altered the team's defensive identity, why the current CBA severely limits Milwaukee's ability to retool, and which franchises realistically have the assets to pursue a Giannis trade. From New York and Miami to OKC and San Antonio, we assess which destinations make basketball sense and which are noise. From there, we move to Los Angeles, where one of the strangest personnel decisions of the season unfolded as Chris Paul was abruptly sent home by the Clippers. Drawing on decades of coaching and front-office experience, we unpack what it actually takes for a Hall of Fame point guard to reach that point inside an organization. We dig into leadership, locker-room dynamics, tone vs accountability, and how communicated authority matters just as much as basketball IQ - especially when a team is losing. This segment goes well beyond headlines to explain how NBA teams really operate when tensions surface. Finally, we zoom out to the league's biggest curveball: the Oklahoma City Thunder. With historically dominant metrics, elite two-way depth, roster continuity, and unprecedented draft capital, OKC is quietly building something rare in modern NBA history. We debate whether the Thunder's current trajectory puts them on a path toward all-time great team status, how their style compares to dynasties like the 1996 Bulls, 2017 Warriors, and 1986 Celtics. To close the episode, we take things a step further by drafting and simulating the greatest NBA teams of all time using NBA 2K26, putting legends and dynasties head-to-head to test how modern basketball, spacing, and three-point variance change the conversation around greatness. This episode blends breaking news, tactical analysis, historical context, and insider perspective — the kind of NBA conversation you don't get from highlight shows or hot-take culture. If you care about how teams are really built, broken, and remembered, this one's for you.

The Portland Trail Blazers’ first game of the 2025-2026 NBA regular season tips off tomorrow at the Moda Center against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Blazers’ roster this season consists of several exciting new additions, including rookie Yang Hansen. The Blazers selected the 7-foot-1 center from China as the 16th-overall pick in the first round of the NBA draft in June. Less than a month later, ESPN broke the news that Damian Lillard had agreed to return to the Blazers on a three-year, $42 million contract. The Blazers traded Lillard in 2023 to the Milwaukee Bucks, at his request, after Lillard spent 11 years playing in Portland without winning a championship trophy. Lillard’s time with the Bucks ended after he tore his Achilles tendon during the first-round of the NBA playoffs in the spring. The start of the Blazers’ new season coincides with an out-of-court settlement that clears the way for the team’s sale to a group of wealthy investors led by Tom Dundon, the owner of the Carolina Hurricanes hockey team. Last month, the estate of Paul Allen announced it had entered a formal agreement to sell the Blazers to Dundon, pending approval from the NBA’s Board of Governors. Mike Richman, host of the “Locked On Blazers” podcast, joins us to preview the new season and the hopes and uncertainties lying ahead.
