She has trained under Wendy Raquel Robinson at Amazing Grace Conservatory (AGC) and studied improvisation at The Second City (Hollywood). As this was Velez's first series regular role, she harkens back to her audition for the role, remembering that she made it a goal to have fun with it. “It was one of the first auditions where I just dove in. I gave it everything I had and didn't care to be right, I wanted to make her this person I'm really excited to be and they're gonna have a good time watching it! Hassani then details her rise in comedy and her aspirations to work in Hollywood. She worked at the Laugh Factory for a few years and started producing her own shows shortly thereafter at venues such as The Ice House & The Comedy Union. She talks managing egos and setting boundaries in a male dominated industry. Hassani shares a conversation she had with Dave Chappelle during the time she worked at the Laugh Factory. A cum laude graduate of Howard University where she received her bachelor of arts in drama, actress Wendy Raquel Robinson has appeared in several plays such as "The Vagina Monologues," "Black Woman's Blues" and "Agnes of God," and has made guest appearances in several television series, including "Martin," "The Parkers" and "All of Us." But it was her role as "Principal Regina Grier" in the sitcom "The Steve Harvey Show," which really brought her career to the forefront. From there she starred in films like "Two Can Play That Game" and Something New" with Sanaa Lathan and now she is back in her role as "Tasha Mack" in "The Game" which will be premiering on the BET network on January 11, 2011. She is also co-founder and Executive Director of the Amazing Grace Conservatory, a theatrical program which train and develop youths from ages 5-18 in the performing arts.
