Everytime we get together we chat about something WEIRD!! This week is a wild one so hold onto your butts (cheeks and cigs) Ashley starts us off with BREAKING NEWS out of Buga Colombia where a strange metallic orb was not only filmed zipping through the sky but also crash landed and was collected by witnesses in the area and turned into our buddy JAIME MAUSSAN and if this is not a hoax it's a BFDY (Big Freaking Deal, Yo) According to the scientists studying the sphere- it is cold to the touch, it's WEIGHT FLUCTUATES & it's covered in inscriptions and you won't believe what AI has to say about the meaning behind them. And speaking of AI we have a quick TERRIFYING TECHNOLOGY to counteract how pumped we were to be friends with ChatGPT last time around. Ashley tells us about a new phenomenon people are calling "ChatGPT Induced Psychosis" wherein users of AI Chat Bots are losing their grip on reality, falling into spiritual rabbit holes, and destroying all the human relationships they have left. Lauren takes us into a segment we call WHERE IN THE WORLD where we travel to just outside of Hong Kong to a city that used to exist called KOWLOON where over 33,000 residents lived in only 350 buildings covering only .01 miles of space........... HOW?! Then we finish off with a very special DECLASSIFIED where Ashley takes us through the CIA DOC_0005517761 - Declassified back in 2000, this report describes a 250 page KGB file that contains photos, drawings and witness testimonies about a run in that soviet soldiers had with a UFO back in 1990 wherein 23 men were TURNED TO STONE. On this episode of Talking Strange, host Aaron Sagers is joined by Rodney Barnes — the award-winning writer behind Killadelphia, Blacula, The Boondocks, and the new hardcover collection of the Batman vs. Werewolf book, Batman: Full Moon for DC Comics (available May 13). He's also the voice of the successful narrative horror podcast Run, Fool! and will soon be taking on new stories in the 30 Days of Night universe. Barnes discusses how growing up as a Universal Monsters kid helped shape his creative voice and love of horror, and he shares stories of how the tradition of oral storytelling — especially spooky stories told by his grandmother — deeply influenced his perspective and writing. From the gothic shadows of Dracula to the caped crusader battling werewolves, Barnes explores the intersection of pop culture, race, and the supernatural in his work. Whether you're a comic book fan, a lover of monster movies, or someone who grew up hearing stories that made you look twice at the dark, this conversation is for you. Subscribe, rate, and share if you're strange like us. More about Rodney Barnes: Rodney Barnes is an award-winning writer, producer, and comic book creator whose vibrant, emphatic voice has established him as a Hollywood mainstay. Barnes was most recently an executive producer and writer for HBO's Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, chronicling the professional and personal lives of the 1980s Showtime Lakers. His publishing imprint, Zombie Love Studios, is dedicated to storytelling through unique BIPOC perspectives, including Killadelphia—nominated for an Eisner Award, Blacula: Return of the King—an adaptation of the cult horror classic, Monarch—an apocalyptic sci-fi adventure series following a group of Compton school kids in the midst of an alien invasion, and Florence & Normandie—a collaboration with artist/entertainer Xzibit. Additionally, Barnes hosted the Winning Time Podcast, and is host & co-creator of the Run, Fool! podcast—a collaboration between MrBallen, At Will Media, and Campside Media with 800K downloads a month and ranked 38th in true crime fiction podcasts. _______________________________________________________________ The Talking Strange Show with Aaron Sagers is a weekly paranormal pop culture show featuring celebrity and author interviews, as well as experts in all things strange and unexplained. H-h-h-hi W-w-w-weirdos. Is it cold in here? Or am I just CRYOGENICALLY FROZEN?! TW: death, desecration of a corpse, near death experiences, suicidal ideation & mental health struggles, mention of Hitler, murder trial chat, real gross body stuff Welcome to another episode of KEEP IT WEIRD, the podcast for all things strange and unusual, frigid and freaky, pleasant and possessed and everything in between! Everytime we get together we talk about something WEIRD and this week is bursting at the seams with strangeness. First we tackle some "old business" and check in with each other on the KAREN READ RETRIAL-- boy is that getting juicier and juicer by the day-- and Lauren shares a recent strange experience she had with a stick of eyeliner. Lauren kicks off the main event with A THOUGHT she had about time. Are there different times of the year, months-weeks-days, that harbor darkness? Why does it pour when it rains? Why is April the most cursed month in recent human history? Why do wars begin in August? Our ancestors had rituals to get us through these tougher months-- are we self perpetuating the fear and therefore the trauma? Could we benefit from ancient rituals to aid us in living through the tougher times? Then Ashley bursts through the door along with MISS FRIZZLE for some human body mysteries! Starting off with a phenomenon known as the "Returning Soldier Effect" and we question why more male children are born directly after war. Several theories have been presented, but it's still quite the mystery. Then we move on to FROZEN PEOPLE starting with the story of Jean Hillard who spent 6 hours freezing in the snow back in 1980 and SURVIVED!! Then we wrap up the episode discussing CRYONICS and the dangers of cryogenically freezing your body in the hopes of being reanimated when the technology catches up to the theoretical science in the future. Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the corn… Director Eli Craig (Tucker and Dale vs Evil) returns to the horror scene with Clown in a Cornfield — opening in theaters May 9 — a brutal, blood-soaked love letter to ‘80s slashers and the haunted heartland of America. Based on Adam Cesare's cult YA horror novel, this new film brings back killer clowns, generational tension, and practical gore like you haven't seen in years. Host Aaron Sagers talks to Eli about the horror DNA in the new movie, the dangers of actual cornfields vs. clowns, directing a cast of tough Gen-Z actors, and the future of the Cornfield Universe. Clown in a Cornfield hits theaters May 9. Don't miss this one. Official Synopsis: In Clown in a Cornfield, Quinn and her father have just moved to the quiet town of Kettle Springs hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she discovers a fractured community that has fallen on hard times after the treasured Baypen Corn Syrup Factory burned down. As the locals bicker amongst themselves and tensions boil over, a sinister, grinning figure emerges from the cornfields to cleanse the town of its burdens, one bloody victim at a time. Welcome to Kettle Springs. The real fun starts when Frendo the clown comes out to play. Directed by Eli Craig with a screenplay by Carter Blanchard and Eli Craig; based on the novel by Adam Cesare; starring Katie Douglas, Aaron Abrams, Carson MacCormac, Vincent Muller, Kevin Durand, and Will Sasso. _______________________________________________________________ The Talking Strange Show with Aaron Sagers is a weekly paranormal pop culture show featuring celebrity and author interviews, as well as experts in all things strange and unexplained. Did a group of Sasquatch visit a Talking Strange listener, and warn her to stop a secret program that was harming them? That's part of the story in this week's Small Talk episode, where host Aaron reads reader-submitted tales of the strange and unusual. Mary writes in to tell of her dreamquest where Sasquatches are being harmed by something that sounds a lot like government interference with the message to "Stop Project Wildflower." What does this mean, and does it make any sense? Listen in, offer your reactions, and share your own stories — which you can do by emailing Contact@TalkingStrange.com _______________________________________________________________ The Talking Strange Show with Aaron Sagers is a weekly paranormal pop culture show featuring celebrity and author interviews, as well as experts in all things strange and unexplained. Host Aaron Sagers interviews actor Emeraude Toubia (Shadowhunters) and director Felipe Vargas (Milk Teeth), the star and filmmaker behind the new horror movie Rosario. Opening in theaters May 2, Rosario follows a Wall Street stockbroker, played by Toubia, who returns to her late grandmother's apartment — only to uncover a terrifying secret. As she sorts through her grandmother's belongings, Rosario stumbles across a hidden chamber filled with occult artifacts tied to dark generational rituals and supernatural forces rooted in real-world beliefs. A chilling and fun mix of Evil Dead and Drag Me to Hell, Rosario blends gooey practical monster effects with a heartfelt story about immigrant families, grief, and buried trauma. Aaron talks with Toubia and Vargas about crafting a new kind of horror film, representing cultural horror stories authentically, and why real rituals sometimes make the scariest monsters. _______________________________________________________________ The Talking Strange Show with Aaron Sagers is a weekly paranormal pop culture show featuring celebrity and author interviews, as well as experts in all things strange and unexplained. Do the Dew, weirdos! Welcome to another episode of KEEP IT WEIRD, the podcast for all things strange and unusual, mysterious and maddening, freaky and "freakay" and everything in between. Everytime we get together we chat about something WEIRD and this week is DOLPHIN FREE!! The gals start off with some current events as they discuss HBO's "Hollywood Demons" series and share their opinions on the Blue Origin all female space flight that took place earlier this month. Spoiler: We're not impressed. Then Ashley takes us into some CONSPIRACY THEORIES involving our favorite alphabet overlords-- the NSA and the CIA. First on the chopping block is the NSA and their involvement with 33 Thomas St NYC New York-- supposedly just a simple AT&T building until Edward Snowden leaked highly classified information back in 2014. After some pretty simple math it was discovered that that enormous spooky building was actually the largest NSA surveillance building on United States soil. Codename: TITANPOINTE. If you think AT&T being in cahoots with the NSA is bad... wait until you hear about Pepsi's connection to the CIA. Because next we discuss the conspiracy theory that MOUNTAIN DEW releases its new wacky flavors right before major disasters. Why, you ask? Well... that's... not an easy question to answer. But we sure try. Finally Lauren takes us into a REALITY TV CORNER and teaches us about an epic fail of a reality tv show called "Eden." It's also called "Eden: Paradise Lost" for a very dumb reason. Actually almost everything about this show was dumb, especially the part where they took it off the air and FORGOT TO TELL THE CAST AND CREW. [This episode first ran on May 31, 2023.] Why do we like to be scared? What's the difference in fear between a haunted house attraction and ghost hunters in a “real” haunted house? What is fearmongering, and the evolving fears of society? And what's up with being afraid of clowns, aliens, Bigfoot, and even wide open spaces? Margee Kerr is a sociologist and author. She earned her PhD in 2009 from the University of Pittsburgh and currently teaches and conducts research on fear — specifically how and why people engage in 'scary' experiences like haunted attractions, horror movies, and paranormal investigations. She enjoys working as a consultant for attractions and museums and is the author of SCREAM: Chilling Adventures in the Science of Fear named as a must-read by The Washington Post. And author of Ouch! Why Pain Hurts and Why It Doesn't Have To. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, Parade, Atlantic Monthly, and NPR's Science Friday. _______________________________________________________________ The Talking Strange Show with Aaron Sagers is a weekly paranormal pop culture show featuring celebrity and author interviews, as well as experts in all things strange and unexplained. In this wild and weird episode of Talking Strange, host Aaron Sagers shares two firsthand accounts of high strangeness — and they're both absolute head-scratchers. First up: Alysia, a loyal Patreon supporter, recalls the unforgettable night she saw the Easter Bunny… but not the costume-clad kind. We're talking tall, furry, lifelike, and wearing yellow shoes and a bow tie. Was it an alien? A childhood manifestation? An actual cryptid rabbit delivering baskets? We don't know, and that's the point. Then we travel to Carson City, Nevada, in the Reno Tahoe Territory. At The Fox Brewery and Pub, located inside the historic and allegedly haunted St. Charles Hotel, Aaron sits down with a Nevada Deputy Attorney General who goes on the record with a chilling tale of paranormal activity and strange encounters on Lake Tahoe, involving odd entities, and maybe something in the water. This episode is packed with high weirdness, haunted history, and the reminder that — sometimes — it's okay to not have all the answers. _______________________________________________________________ The Talking Strange Show with Aaron Sagers is a weekly paranormal pop culture show featuring celebrity and author interviews, as well as experts in all things strange and unexplained. TW: foul language and real tears Are you eating a well balanced regular human diet, weirdos? Welcome to KEEP IT WEIRD, the podcast for all things strange and unusual, hair-raising and blood-curdling, riveting and READY To RUMMBLEEE and everything in between. Each episode we get together to chat about something WEIRD and this episode is no exception. Today Lauren is asking is it REAL OR HOAX as we look into the medieval legend of the Green Children of Woolpit. Legend has it that two strangely dressed children speaking an unknown language wandered into the village of Woolpit wayyyy back in the 12th century and not only were they out of place but they were also GREEN! That's right. Green. WTF? Then Ashley takes us into a new segment called SUPER SYNCHRONICITIES where we will be chronicling the strange entanglements and meaningful coincidences in our lives and surrounding our show. This first foray is all about THE TELEPATHY TAPES - a podcast produced and hosted by Ky Dickens exploring the idea of consciousness, the possibility of psi-powers and the unbelievable experiences of non-verbal autistic children and their families and teachers. In this episode of Talking Strange, we pause to share a couple listener submitted stories. First up, listener Mike shares his tales from Virginia City, Nevada. After hearing our episodes about the Reno Tahoe Territory, and visiting the Washoe Club, he wanted to talk about perhaps encountering the ghost of an old cowboy. Then, listener Chad tells about his personal connection to the UFO over Lake Oneida, New York, in 1997. Occurring just a few months after the famed Phoenix Lights, this looked remarkably similar. As if that's not strange enough, Chad's family's footage of the lights gained enough attention that he believes it is connected to a visitation of strange Men in Black-type characters, as well as his own mystery illness. Don't forget to submit your own stories so you, too, can be included in a future episode. _______________________________________________________________ The Talking Strange Show with Aaron Sagers is a weekly paranormal pop culture show featuring celebrity and author interviews, as well as experts in all things strange and unexplained. Don't Panic, Weirdos! TW: photos of mummified remains, death, possible murder & torture, stillbirth, depression, animal abuse Welcome to another episode of KEEP IT WEIRD the podcast for all things strange & unusual, beautiful & batty, creepy & cringe and everything in between! Everytime we get together we chat about something WEIRD and this week we've got quite the adventure for you. Lauren is going to start us off with an UNSOLVED MYSTERY straight out of the BOG. From as far back as the 17th century we have been discovering strangely preserved BODIES in the bogs of Europe, some of which date all the way back to 8000 BC, and no one knows why they are there. The unique physical and biochemical composition of the peat bogs have kept some of these bodies preserved to the point that they still have hair, internal organs and even FOOD (and drugs) in their stomachs. Was this a popular dumping ground for murderers? Was it a holy place used for ritual sacrifice? Did these folks just wander into the bog? We may never know... Then Ashley is taking us DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE for a quest that takes us from Marine Mammal Law all the way to NHI (Non-Human Intelligence) theories as we read some stories about cetaceans, specifically DOLPHINS, and their potential to have special abilities far beyond our understanding. Can they communicate telepathically? Help heal the sick? Act as your doula? Control UFOs? It may sound crazy, but that's because we live in a crazy world. ALSO this episode features our very first WITCHY WEATHER FORECAST hosted by Laura Lareau!! Laura will pop in to every other episode to give us a look at that month's celestial energies, moon phases, and all around witchy festivities to teach us how to celebrate our woo-woo side and get in touch with our inner witch. To get into these issues and discuss their own spooky stories, host Aaron Sagers has gathered upcoming leaders of the paranormal: Beckia-Ann Galentine, Melisa Viva Farris of Hidden Marietta, Amanda Noel, Amanda Paulson, and Lauren Hellekson. _______________________________________________________________ Talking Strange Paranormal Show with Aaron Sagers is a weekly paranormal pop culture podcast featuring celebrity and author interviews, as well as learned experts in all things strange and unexplained. Actor, comic creator and frequent Talking Strange guest David Dastmalchian (Late Night with The Devil, Life of Chuck, and the Count Crowley comics) and comic book and collectible icon Todd McFarlane joins the show to discuss Knights vs. Samurai, the new Image Comics title created by Dastmalchian with the guidance of McFarlane (with art by Federico Mele). The adventure series features mythology, monsters, and a meet up of noble knights vs. honorable samurai in a "journey of magic, warfare, and a search for the truth." The title, available now, is only $2.99. More About Knights vs. Samurai Sir Charles Ward, "The Dragon Butcher," has achieved knighthood, acclaim, and is leading a legion of royal warriors on a noble mission, yet his self-doubt and grief haunt him. Venturing to a mysterious island in the Far East, Charles leads his diverse assembly of fighters (including a giant and two clerics) to seek vengeance against savage monsters who ambushed a group of English missionaries. Arrival on the island reveals that the truth may be drastically different from what Charles was led to believe, and the "savage monsters" he will face are actually a regiment of skillful warriors the likes of which he has never seen. _______________________________________________________________ Talking Strange Paranormal Show with Aaron Sagers is a weekly paranormal pop culture podcast featuring celebrity and author interviews, as well as learned experts in all things strange and unexplained. TW: Sexual assault, suspicions of murder, missing persons, short mention of abuse of an animal Bonjour, Weirdos and welcome to another episode of KEEP IT WEIRD the podcast for all things strange & unusual, conspiratorial & psychological, unsolved & unhinged and EVERYTHING in between. This week we've got some OLD BUSINESS to attend to right off the bat because Ashley has an update from last episode on THE GATEWAY PROJECT!! Turns out... uh... page 25 has not been missing for a few years now. So we go over what that page entails and how it may just change the way you view the world forever. Then Lauren takes us into a PARANORMAL PARADISE as we discover you don't need an old dilapidated mansion to live with ghosts-- sometimes apartments can be JUST as scary! The haunting of Brooklyn's 455A Sackett Street is a strange and terrifying tale of what happens when a place is used for bad deeds for too long.... Ashley brings us home with an UNSOLVED MYSTERY and potentially even an unsolved murder, as we learn about a man named Louis Le Prince who disappeared without a trace only DAYS before he was to unveil the world's very first working moving picture machine. The patent for the machine just so happened to disappear alongside him and a mere 8 months later a very famous inventor announced that HE had invented the world's very first moving picture machine... and boy did it look an awful lot like Le Prince's design...... Today's episode is dedicated to a lover of our show, a listener we lost on September 21st, 2023. Susan Lee Bartlem, Lee to all who knew her well, passed away exactly a year to the DAY that we recorded this episode. (which was an accident... but there are no accidents.) Lee was a beloved teacher at Rockhampton Girls Grammar School in Queensland Australia for 23 years and she was a REAL WEIRDO. Not only did they play Metallica and read Anne Rice at her funeral, but her family even got Keep It Weird tattoos in her honor. It would have been a thrill to meet Lee in real life, on this astral plane, but she lives on forever in the hearts of her students, her friends and family, and with all of us who call ourselves weirdos with pride. In the latest Talking Strange, host Aaron Sagers (28 Days Haunted, Paranormal Caught on Camera) talks with executive producers Mark Duplass and Joshua Rofé about their new true crime/paranormal series Out There: Crimes of the Paranormal, debuting on Hulu with eight episodes on Sept. 24, 2024. More About Out There: Out There: Crimes of the Paranormal takes you inside eight true crime cases with shocking encounters with the paranormal world - through eyewitness accounts, expert interviews, and all-new investigations. In each case, amidst an agonizing search for answers, one rumor emerges from the pack: something inhuman is afoot. These in-depth investigations transport us to towns and cities across North America where we speak to individuals with eyewitness accounts and first-person details about the extraordinary, supernatural events that changed their lives forever. A six-year-old boy in the Smoky Mountains disappears forever after being snatched by a mysterious ape-like beast. A UFO crash in Long Island sparks an assassination attempt and illuminates a massive political conspiracy. An occult coven of Satanic witches is implicated in a decades-old New Jersey murder. Lonely ghosts in San Francisco's Chinatown threaten to steal the lives of the unmarried. In these stories and more, “Out There” tracks down fresh leads and uncovers new evidence amid a labyrinth of twists and turns. At the end of the road, the investigations unearth new truths – about the power of mythology, the allure of the paranormal, and the monsters among us. About the Guests: Joshua Rofé directed and executive produced the acclaimed Hulu series SASQUATCH, which premiered at the 2021 SXSW Film Festival. Previously, he directed and executive produced the four-part Amazon Prime documentary series LORENA, which premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, and the Netflix Original Documentary BOB ROSS: Happy Accidents, Betrayal, and Greed. Mark Duplass is an award-winning actor, filmmaker and producer. As an actor, Mark has appeared in a wide range of film and television projects including the Apple+ series THE MORNING SHOW for which he received two Emmy nominations and a 2022 Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Mark was also one of the stars of the acclaimed HBO show TOGETHERNESS, a series he co-created with his brother Jay. Mark's many on-screen feature film credits include: THE PUFFY CHAIR, which he also co-wrote and co-directed, the indie-sensation HUMPDAY, the Gotham award-winning YOUR SISTER'S SISTER, the Oscar-winning ZERO DARK THIRTY, the contemporary classic sci-fi films THE ONE I LOVE and SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED, BOMBSHELL opposite Charlize Theron, PADDLETON with Ray Romano and the CREEP horror franchise. _______________________________________________________________ Talking Strange Paranormal Show with Aaron Sagers is a weekly paranormal pop culture podcast featuring celebrity and author interviews, as well as learned experts in all things strange and unexplained. The pop culture icon himself, Bruce Campbell (Ash vs. Evil Dead, Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness, Burn Notice), joins host Aaron Sagers to discuss his career, horror, the all-important definition of lollygagging, and he teases his role as Police Chief Dandridge in the upcoming pop-horror series Hysteria on the Peacock streaming service (premiering Oct. 18, 2024). He also shares a wild UFO story from Oregon. More about Hysteria: When a beloved varsity quarterback disappears during the “Satanic Panic” of the late 1980s, a struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts realize they can capitalize on the town's sudden interest in the occult by building a reputation as a Satanic metal band, until a bizarre series of murders, kidnappings, and reported “supernatural activity” triggers a leather-studded witch hunt that leads directly back to them. _______________________________________________________________ Talking Strange Paranormal Show with Aaron Sagers is a weekly paranormal pop culture podcast featuring celebrity and author interviews, as well as learned experts in all things strange and unexplained. TW: witchcraft, murder, air travel disasters Hi Weirdos!! Welcome to another episode of KEEP IT WEIRD-- the podcast for all things strange & unusual, wicked and WILD, perky and petrifying and everything in between. This week's episode is a wild ride and we're traveling all throughout space and time to bring it to you! Lauren starts us off with a WHERE IN THE WORLD (Is Keep It Weird Going?) as we astral project to an old creepy cave in LONDON where a witch was born! Mother Shipton's Cave is England's OLDEST tourist attraction-- it's been operating since 1630!! There are a lot of strange things about this cave-- specifically the petrifying water well that turns objects into stone! AND DID I MENTION A WITCH WAS BORN THERE?! Then we both fall DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE where Ashley takes us from a prophetic dream, to a plane crash, to a CIA declassified document, to NASA and then all the way back to a 13th century dance as we discuss consciousness & whether or not it can temporarily leave our bodies. Last weekend I did a trail Ragnar event with a few friends of the podcast. We entered as a 4 person ultra team (obviously) and this episode is a recap of the shenanigans that ensued! Hope you enjoy!
TW: Torture, starvation, humiliation, death, apocalypse & end times (specifically the religious kind) Another day, another END TIMES PROPHECY. That's ok though, because after THIS episode you're either going to feel secure that the world is not going to end OR you're going to be begging for its destruction. Hello this is Keep It Weird, the podcast for all things strange & unusual! Every time we get together we chat about something WEIRD and this episode is no exception. Ashley starts us of with the segment END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT and tells us all about the PROPHECY OF SAINT MALACHY (more commonly referred to as The Prophecy of the Popes) In 1139 AD Malachy had an intense vision that documented ALL future popes. The end times would come during the time of the 112th pope. AND WOULDN'T YA JUST KNOW IT -- guess who is number 112! Lauren does nothing to make us feel better about ourselves as we dive into REALITY TV CORNER and discuss the horrific story Susunu! Denpa Shōnen in which a young fella named Nasubi was forced to stay alone and unclothed in a small apartment (with no food or access to the outside world) until he won enough money playing mail in sweepstakes to earn his way out. Did we mention he didn't know he was being broadcast LIVE?? And finally we jam our way into REAL OR HOAX as we discuss the Nazca Alien Mummies. You may remember them from that presentation to the congress of Mexico last year? Journalist (& ufologist) Jaime Maussan is NOT letting go of these corpses and he's still releasing bits of their discoveries every day. Are these cake-like mummies the real deal?? Or are they just another hoax (like the mummies he produced in 2015) (and the mummies he produced in 2016)(and the mummies he produced in 2017) Check out some links below if you want to do some more research into today's topics!! Micah Sloat and Katie Featherston, the stars of the 2009 surprise blockbuster hit Paranormal Activity join host Aaron Sagers to discuss their new Audible Original podcast "Paranormal Activity: True Tales of Possession." Sloat uses his real-life exploration of the paranormal and spiritism, while Featherston serves as the curious voice of the audience as they examine real-life stories of demonic possession, tracing the phenomenon from its earliest known accounts to its modern-day headlines. With help from noted experts in witchcraft, shamanism, exorcism, and parapsychology, Katie and Micah explore chilling cases throughout history and across cultures, challenging our understanding of the world—or worlds—around us. More about the guests: Micah Sloat is best known for his breakout role in the 2009 surprise smash Paranormal Activity. His performance earned him a Teen Choice Award nomination for Best Horror Film Actor, and he reprised his role in several Paranormal Activity sequels. Sloat's interest in the paranormal extends far beyond the screen. He has a broad background in many spiritual traditions, with a focus on Peruvian shamanism, British Traditional Witchcraft, and Hawaiian shamanism. By combining these practices with his undergraduate studies in philosophy and his master's degree in Transpersonal Psychology, he's developed his own transformational practice for healing, change, and manifestation called Spirit Work. Katie Featherston is best known for playing the lead role in Paramount's 2009 smash hit Paranormal Activity, which earned her the Best Actress award at the 2009 Screamfest Film Festival, and has been ranked among many critics' lists of the "Best Horror Movies" ever made. Featherston has also appeared in many of the subsequent sequels, and was brought on to appear in multiple episodes of ABC's The River produced by Steven Spielberg. She can also be seen in the short films Solace for the Unloved and Becoming, both of which she co-directed, as well as in season 2 of HBO's Big Little Lies. _______________________________________________________________ Talking Strange Paranormal Show with Aaron Sagers is a weekly paranormal pop culture podcast featuring celebrity and author interviews, as well as learned experts in all things strange and unexplained. The cast of Evil — Michael Emerson (Leland Townsend), Katja Herbers (Kristen Bouchard), and Aasif Mandvi (Ben Shaki) — join Aaron to discuss their four seasons on the show about a team of assessors working with the Roman Catholic Church to evaluate potential possession cases, and their larger conflicts with the forces of Hell itself. With the series finale now live, the cast does discuss the importance of the show in their careers, and how they felt the conclusion bid farewell to their characters (and left the door open for a potential return). TW: genetic experimentation on animals, mention of Satan Oh Frabjious Day, weirdos! Welcome to another episode of KEEP IT WEIRD, the podcast for all things strange and unusual, hairy and scary, mysterious and unknown and everything in between!! This week we cover FOUR very WEIRD topics, we introduce some new segments, we show off some cool stuff we bought with our adult money and we even recite some poetry. Lauren starts us off with her very first MONSTER WATCH as we head to Santa Paula California in search of the BILLIWHACK MONSTER. This thing might be a bigfoot, a government experiment gone horribly awry, an interdimensional creature that crawled through a hole in space-time or possibly the devil himself. Ashley brings us two stories in a new segment she calls MONKEY'N AROUND! First up is our new favorite Orangutan, KEN ALLEN. Known as the "Hairy Houdini" at the San Diego zoo, Ken became famous for outwitting his zoo handlers and escaping his "inescapable" enclosure several times. Then we head into the modern day and discuss China splicing human DNA into chimpanzees. The goal is to attempt to find the gene that gave us consciousness... but could it result in Planet of the Apes? And finally Lauren gives us a BIT O' BIOLOGY with a 2009 study in Scientific American regarding music and how not only does it move us emotionally and affect our "heart" but it also might affect our HEART!! That's right, it's possible that Music may help keep your cardiovascular system regulated and we may be able to use music in the future to help treat victims of heart attacks and strokes to re-regulate their circulatory systems. Hello and welcome to another episode of KEEP IT WEIRD; the podcast for all things strange and unusual. declassified and dangerous, haunted and hinky and everything in between. Ashley starts us off with a DECLASSIFIED diving into yet another secret CIA operation called Operation Midnight Climax and yes it's exactly what it sounds like. A decade long operation under the MK ULTRA program wherein the CIA hired sex workers to bring clients back to their government funded bordello and illegally dose them with LSD and other mind altering substances. Lauren takes us into an UNSOLVED MYSTERY straight out of Black Forest Colorado-- where a family moves into a home that may actually be built directly on top of a rip in space-time. Flashing lights, loud sounds, apparitions, music, laser beams, chemical burns, and faces in all of the mirrors. Count me out, fellas. And last but not least we tiptoe into TERRIFYING TECHNOLOGY and examine the theory that our modern technological boom may have been a gift (or a weapon) given to us by extraterrestrials all the way back in Roswell, New Mexico. We discuss Colonel Phillip J Corso's claims that whatever crashed in Roswell led to fiberoptics and microchips & therefore computers an the internet and we also take a look at an indigenous tribe, deep in the Amazon, called the Marubo and what happens when you give a community their first access to the internet. TW: untimely death, hauntings, terrifying cryptids & blood Well well well, weirdos, we meet again! Welcome to another episode of KEEP IT WEIRD, the podcast for all things strange and unusual, nautical and nasty, mysterious and monstrous and everything in between. Every episode we talk about something WEIRD and this episode is no exception. Ashley starts us off with a PARANORMAL PARADISE that features a leftover LISTENER GHOST STORY from last week about a man who believes he saw the exact staircase his mother died on... several years before it occurred. Then Lauren asks WHERE IN THE WORLD(Is Keep It Weird Going?) as we astral travel to DOOR COUNTY Wisconsin which is apparently chock full of haunted lighthouses. Ashley grabs the binoculars for a MONSTER WATCH where the MOTHBOYS PODCAST leads us to a very strange cryptid from West Virginia (where else, amirite?) called THE VEGGIE MAN And Lauren finishes off strong with another CURSED CROONERS (& Spooky Songs) as we discuss the curse of the 9th symphony! Which 9th symphony you ask? ALL OF THEM. Check out the links below if you want to do some further reading on today's topics. Hi Weirdos! Or should I say… high weirdos? Welcome to a very special episode of KEEP IT WEIRD– your one stop shop for all things strange and unusual, stoned and spooky, blitzed and bonkers & everything in between. What makes this week so special is that it's our BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION for the best co host that side (or THIS side) of the Mississippi. Lauren and Ashley have been best friends for going on fifteen years now (EW how did we get so old) and were sick and tired of not being able to PARTY TOGETHER on special occasions. So we did a little “gardening” and poured ourselves some fruity beverages and set off to BLOW EACH OTHERS MINDS with some absolutely crazy science, biology, history and trivia. We cover how stars and planets are made, how many blimps we have on Earth, how you can tell the temperature based on a cricket's chirp, which famous horror director had to say goodbye to his bellybutton, an ancient city full of skyscrapers that you didn't know existed, where the sound comes from when we snap our fingers, and even alligators who can gallop faster than Gunpowder (that's Ichabod Crane's horse… obviously) So buckle your seatbelts, maybe take a toke or two yourself, relax, melt into the couch, WAIT too much melting. Don't forget to breathe. Yes you ARE breathing. Chill out, relax, meeeelt into the couch. There we go. Open your mind to weirdness. Let it flow through you. I can see your future, weirdos! And the future looks BRIGHT! Welcome to Keep It Weird, the podcast for all things strange and unusual, freaky and fabulous, wicked and wild and EVERYTHING in between! Everytime we get together we talk about something weird, and what is weirder than fortune telling?! This week's episode is very special, as we are learning all about DIVINATION! Divination is an extremely OLD practice because since the beginning of mankind we've all been very worried about what our futures hold for us. Whether it's regarding our love life, our career, the cities we live in or the cars we drive-- we're constantly looking towards that future and wondering "How do I get there?" But divination goes far deeper than the Magic 8 Ball or a game of MASH- - Divination can help you navigate your current situation and reconcile with your past. It can help take the emotional load off of your shoulders and give you hope for tomorrow. As three practitioners of divination, we wanted to look deeper into the methods and discover how our ancestors used to perform them (warning... there are entrails,) how we got the tools we have today, and discover NEW tools to enhance our lives. Lauren starts us off with some of the strangest and most gruelling forms of divination from the past, Ashley brings us closer to the present with the discovery and use of RUNES, and Laura teaches us about Oracle Cards and how they differ from their more popular cousin the Tarot. Don't listen to Ashley at the beginning of the episode when she promises personal readings to listeners at the very end-- that's going to be its own episode and will be released ASAP so you can see the types of questions you can ask and the myriad of answers you can receive while divining. If you ever have a question you'd like answered using divination-- join our patreon at www.patreon.com/keepitweirdpodcast! We're going to be offering MONTHLY readings for our most loyal listeners and YOU could be one of them! FOLLOW us on social media @keepitweirdcast SUBSCRIBE to our YouTube Channel at www.youtube.com/keepitweirdpodcast LEAVE A REVIEW on whatever app you are listening on-- 5 stars are our favorite, but we'll never turn down 4 ;) Stay tuned for our DIVINATION READINGS
RIP WEIRDOS! Welcome to Keep It Weird, the podcast for all things strange and unusual, terrific yet terrible, bogus and beautiful and everything in between! A couple times a month we get together to chat about something WEIRD and of course this week is no exception. We are going to be taking a trip into the past with a crazy story of reincarnation, storming into a television network to yell at them for creating another horrific reality tv show and visiting a foreign country on the other side of the planet to join a protest! Ashley starts us off with DONT FEAR THE REAPER and the story of Jenny Cockell, an English GENIUS (no joking around) who has had memories of her past life (excuse me, LIVES) since she was four years old. In the 90's she was not only able to find the home she lived in in her life before, she was also able to find all of her surviving "children" and reunite them. Lauren takes us into REALITY TV CORNER as we explore TLC's 2013 reality tv hit "Best Funeral Ever." Ok, maybe it wasn't so much of a hit, it only lasted a season and a half but boy was it packed with unique, special and sometimes downright STRANGE funerals. Then, we hop into WHERE IN THE WORLD IS KEEP IT WEIRD GOING as Ashley takes us for a brief trip to South Korea as we explore the B4 movement. Bihon, Bichulsan, Biyeonae, Bisekseu: No marriage, no childbirth, no romance, no sex. It turns out that women DON'T need men to survive and in a lot of cases, it's actually detrimental to our health to be near them. Sorry not sorry! TW: foul language, religion, apocalyptic imagery I'm a loner, Weirdo. A rebel. And you are entering KEEP IT WEIRD: the podcast for all things strange & unusual. We get together every other week and chat about SOMETHING WEIRD and of course this week is no exception. We are SINGING OUR PRAISES, we are ALIGNING OUR CHAKRAS and we are SPEAKING IN TONGUES this episode is ALL about religion. Ashley starts us off with one of our favorite segments WHAT IF GOD WAS ONE OF US as we learn all about the RAPTURE. What it is, when it was created and how it differs from what is *actually* in the bible. Ruh Roh. Lauren takes us into a WHERE IN THE WORLD IS KEEP IT WEIRD GOING and the answer to that question.... is Utah. Utah in the 1930's to be exact, when Mary Ogden brought her spiritualist movement to a hollow rock in the middle of freaking no where and things got weird.
