“Send Coach John a message”I found so many powerful posts today and I wanted to share this one with you first. Coming at you a little bit late in the day today, but sometimes “life” gets in the way a bit. So, I'm in the library studio today and getting some stuff done.  This comes from Curious Minds (@CuriousMindsHub) where this one hit me right between the eyes and I hope you connect with it too!  “It's time to get more aggressive about the life you want.”   It is time. Not just because it's late January of a new year, but it's because it's TODAY!  Today is the only time I can do something about this because that is the moment I'm in. Truthfully, it would have been really easy to stay at home. The weather is cold and nasty, but I knew I wanted to get back to my “roots” of going someplace outside of the house, getting a coffee and having a quiet space to work in. My local library offers this with their study rooms to sign up for. So many podcasts, school work, video recordings, etc., have been done here. I knew I wanted to take some time to really intentionally focus on getting some things done, investigated, read, watched, etc. So I hope this reminds you to do the same - as soon as you can!!   Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel is at: Coach John Daly.   Email me at: CoachJohnDalyPodcast@gmail.com     You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoexpectsuccess.com/ and get in touch with me there on my homepage along with checking out my Top Book list too.  Other things there on my site are being worked on too.  Please let me know that you are reaching out to me from my podcast.  ** I would appreciate anyone to try clicking on the top of the show notes where it says "Send us a text" to leave a few thoughts / comments / questions.  It's a new feature that I'd like to see how it works. **

“Send Coach John a message”Love finding things that help keep my soul on fire… these posts that I find are really things that fire me up! From Mindful Maven (@mindfulmaven_)  Its a reminder for all of us to “Trust the process. Always remember that… You can have the worst days of your life and a few weeks later you can have the best day of your life. Keep pushing through.”  This is something that hits me hard when I reflect on it - and truthfully I do have a bit more time to reflect now a days. It get me thinking about how proud of my little 8 year old self would be of my 59 year old self.  That 8 year old is part of me and has been since I was that age. I do have plenty to be proud of that I have pushed through and not given up. It helps me to also connect with Seek Wiser (@SeekWiser_) that shared this: “Hardest thing right now is, finding people with pure intentions”  Part of our process needs to keep focusing in doing the right thing. Not only for our lives and the people we love, but our communities / country / the world!  My little 8 year old self has been in the front row seeing all the good and bad I've done. I need to do more of what is right in living my life. Great stuff for all of us to connect with. **

“Send Coach John a message”Found a great reminder for me personally that I need to read more and the importance of taking the time to do it! From TeacherGoals (@teachergoals) “Reading counts. - Reading forces you to be quiet in a world that no longer makes a place for that.” That is a quote from John Green.  It seems that the world is getting noisier and more hectic as each day passes. As I typed that thought out, I also know that probably many of the previous generations probably thought the same thing. I take time to start my day by reading a little bit. However, that is not where it should end for me. I need to take more time throughout my days to slow down and read more. I have plenty of things to read that are good for me. That inspires me. That makes me want to be better and do better in my life. When I do, I find that I can handle the “loudness” of the world a bit better. Maybe this is something for you to get re-connected with too? I know a good friend of mine really takes the time to pause life here and there to get some reading done. It brings joy to her soul and it helps her be her best for the life that she wants to live. She wrote a very nice note to my wife recently and my wife shared it with me. This helps me to want to do the same! “Send Coach John a message”Today being the day that we are honoring Martin Luther King, Jr., I found a post from Jon Gordon (@JonGordon11)  and his #MindsetMonday thoughts shared this quote:  “If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” What a powerful reminder for every single day, but especially today! I found this catching my eye for many reasons - one for sure is that I need to keep moving forward in my attempt to not let negativity, anger, hatred, etc., enter into my heart and mind. Too much of the BS out there that I unfortunately let into my life and I can't let it go. This morning was no exception. People I know, like and thought I respected, keep putting stuff out there that simply sets to tear apart and cause trouble. I will keep moving forward, however I have to, so that I can keep encouraging others, putting out things that help people on their life's journey, along with trying to balance out the “crud” that people put out there. One of the things that I remind myself of is that the people that put out the “crud”, are really sharing what they are all about, the problems they have in life, the hurt they are going through, etc. It's worth my efforts every day for sure! **

“Send Coach John a message”Powerful and emotional continuation with honoring Martin Luther King, Jr., today - I found this from The Nobel Prize (@NobelPrize) where this quote was shared: "I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war." In this episode I shared a snippet of his Nobel Peace Prize speech, where he accepted the award on behalf of the American civil rights movement. Check out this link  bit.ly/3bJCQuc #MLKDay that has a bit more info about this time in our history.  Again, this is a reminder for me first of all, and anyone else that wants to listen - that we must be better! In all parts of living our lives. We are more alike than we are different. I know I need to keep getting better in all areas of my life. I know I want to have a life worth remembering that stood for doing good, helping others rather than hurting them & causing troubles. We humans are still fighting a battle of letting evil win over goodness. We have not learned the lesson yet and we have always struggled with it - just look throughout history. We have history to learn from. To improve. To fix the wrongs that we humans have created. All of us have a lot to work on, but it's worth it for sure. **

He was speaking to the press after losing a close playoff game and the interaction between him and her simply took roughly 24 seconds to pay him a compliment and to encourage him to keep his head up high! It's absolutely stunning and embarrassing the number of people that are complaining about what she said along with the fact that she should not be there in the first place!!  Come on people!!  We need to be better than this. “Send Coach John a message”Going back to back with a message to share with you today. It's coming again from Mark Hickie (@MPHickie) where he shares this thought with us: “You're blessed with the opportunity to control what you bring to your environment daily! Bring your own joy today!”  The message from Mark is helped by Inky Johnson (@inkyjohnson) and his message about bringing your own joy can be connected with HERE. It's amazing how fired up I get when connecting with things & people like this. They speak right to my soul. Looking back in my life, it's becoming clear to me that I've always had this knack for connecting with people and things that helped to light a spark in me. Even during dark times, I always find myself gravitating towards things and people like Inky and Mark. In today's world my friends and for what seems to be getting crazier every day - we need to find ways to not only keep our joy, but to keep bringing it every single day! Join me in committing to finding things every day to keep adding that spark into your life and into your heart. Then go and try and live by those things as well. Maria has the story on a congressional warning about a surge in winter holiday travel scams, as fake booking sites and airline impersonators drive millions in losses during peak travel season. What if the talent your organization is searching for is already inside your walls? In this Best of episode, Lori revisits one of the most impactful conversations of the year with talent strategy expert Dr. Edie Goldberg, and it's just as relevant now as when it first aired. Dr. Goldberg shares why traditional job structures are holding organizations back, how skills-based talent strategies unlock massive ROI, and what leaders can do right now to reduce burnout while increasing engagement and agility. Why internal talent marketplaces are transforming how work gets done How skills-based approaches future-proof organizations amid constant change What “job crafting” really means—and how it helps prevent burnout How AI can reduce work (not increase it) when used thoughtfully Why widening pathways to talent is both a moral and business imperative Dr. Goldberg is the founder of E. L. Goldberg & Associates, a nationally recognized expert in HR strategy, and the author of The Inside Gig. She previously served as Global Leader for Learning and Development at Towers Perrin and recently chaired the board of the SHRM Foundation, where she helps mobilize HR as a force for positive social change. “Send Coach John a message”I found so many things that I wanted to (and could have) share with you today. It could easily be 10 podcasts. This one connected with me first and it came from Mark Hickie (@MPHickie) and he shared this preview of what the post was all about:  “A message for today … Don't be afraid to embrace life, chase your dreams and live fully. Show up every day with passion and courage, and let nothing hold you back. Life is rare and beautiful—go all in with it!” His post moved me so much and I shared these thoughts on his post as I shared it with others: “I could do so much better with this for my life… I've had my moments of not being afraid, but not like I know I could have. Good news for me, I can show up today - right in this moment I have - with passion, courage, love, etc., and do my best with the task at hand.”  I shared a lot about this in today's episode and it honestly connects with a lot of the thoughts, feelings, ideas swirling around in my head from other items I have connected with this morning - but I hope (as I always do) this gets you thinking and then acting in a direction that helps you with the things going on in your life. Whatever it is, keep it up! **

“Send Coach John a message”I remember this guy from when I was much younger.  In fact around 10 when I remember hearing about Clint Hurdle (@ClintHurdle13) since he was drafted 9th overall by the Kansas City Royals in the mid 1970's. He has been around baseball for a long time and now he's sharing stories and lessons from the great game that can help all of us, whether we even like baseball, let alone play it. He shared this gem: “We're not finished products. Continue to grow. Look for growth opportunities every day.”  I love this quick and simple thought, that we as humans (especially this human), seem to have trouble understanding the validity of this thought. He has inspired me by his humility and love for helping others. Coach Hurdle has mentioned recently that he really looked to change and grow a couple of years ago, so he started out on his journey of writing a book. I got his book as a Christmas gift from my parents and I'm starting to read it. Which for me is also writing in the book, taking notes, underlining, sharing items from it, etc. A BIG suggestion I have for you is to go out and get your own copy that you can write in if you want to. Find more info here on his website:  https://www.clinthurdle.com/book . **

“Send Coach John a message”I found something I wanted to share and it comes from Motivational Quotes (@motivational) and it's something that adds to my strength and optimism here in the new year.  “Remaining positive doesn't mean you have to be happy all the time.  It means that even on tough days, you hold onto the belief that better days are on the horizon.” This is something that has been a part of my mindset for a long time. However, I needed reminding of this fact as there are plenty of times I forget the second part as I wallow away in dealing with negativity at times. It helps remind me that I am the one that has a major say in creating better days in my life!! Again, with all the “noise” going on around all of us - this helps to add to my strength of realizing that I'm more in control of my life than the “noise makers” think they are. **

Send us a textThis one is something that I've been picking up more on as I get older (because I need it) “Focus on adding good habits, not breaking bad habits.”  When we focus on the positive things we want to do or create, instead of what we want to get rid of - it becomes a lot easier to keep the good ones going. Plus, we will see that the bad habits are simply going to be less and less of an impact on our lives. I need to connect with this one for sure. It's on my to-do list. Send us a textThis one I know will help me as I know I need to “Focus on one habit at a time.” I usually focus on many things at once and really none of them get accomplished. If they do, it takes a long time and probably it's not done as well as if I focused on just that. It's the same principle of focusing on small, simple things - uncomplicating it from becoming too large or too many. We can build many new habits if we focus on one at a time. Love this quote from the book on this one - “It's easy to keep adding one new habit at a time, but it's almost impossible to focus on many new habits at once.” That is something for me to zero in on me for sure. **

Send us a textAs I record this one - “Post a reminder of your commitment to your new, healthy habit”, I know I need to go do this. I need to have little written notes set for myself. I have one in my daily devotional book, which I read every day. I love what Sam Crowley says - “writing is the doing part of thinking.” I sure do think a lot. It's time for me to “do” more with my thinking. It's always about taking action and these little postings - remember, they are in my own writing - they are to myself! Nobody else sees them. It's me to me. Simple for all of us to do - but only if we actually do it does it become simple. This is not saying to not have BIG goals and plans, but… keep in mind the process (the little steps) to get there.  Little steps help us to keep the good habits going for a longer period of our lives. Keep working. Keep believing.  New one coming at you tomorrow.

Send us a textFound another series to share for you. When I ran across this from the book: “Coach Wooden's Greatest Secret: The Power of a Lot of Little Things Done Well”, by Pat Williams with Jim Denney. It's all about building healthy habits.  Find a link for the book HERE. (you can find it in many different places)  It starts off by reminding us that the best way to replace a bad habit is to replace it with a good habit.  These  eight parts remind us that it's tough to try and simply get rid of a bad habit by willpower alone.  What I'm sharing with you starting today is all about principles to keep in mind as we replace unhealthy habits with good habits.  The first is to focus on little things.  Instead of making huge changes in our lives, find small manageable tasks to focus on that lead us to the changes we want. I have always looked ahead a bit too much to the ending that I want. Then it becomes difficult, challenging and frustrating because my focus is not on the first step I need to take, but what's at the finish line. The more I read these, the more fired up I got. I hope this happens to you as well during the next few episodes.

Super powerful and inspiring post I found from Motivational Quotes (@motivational) “Never trust your fears; they don't know your strength.”  WOW… did I need to connect with this. My fears have had more of a driver's seat in my life than I care to admit and in driving “my bus”, when picking up my strengths at the different bus stops - many times they force my strengths to sit in the back of the bus or they never even stopped to pick them up!!  It's time for me to stop my bus (my life's journey) - not totally kick my fears off the bus because they are who I am in many ways. Maybe just have them sit in a seat behind me - buckled in… keep a few seats around them open for now so they don't influence “anyone else”. Life's journey is never dull when you take a look at yourself in the mirror and find the MANY things to keep working on to improve. So many things get better when we try to improve and be the best we can be!

I came across a simple yet powerful post - it's been around awhile I think too, but it's still as important as ever for all of us to digest this one.  It's from Psyche Wizard (@PsycheWizard) and the reminder is this:  “The life you want is on the other side of discomfort. No shortcuts. No guarantees. Just decisions.” Yep… a short and simple reminder, yet for me, it's difficult to keep it simple. It all comes down to choices. I need to continue working on mine all the time as there is great room for growth with some of the choices I make every day!!
