“Send Coach John a message”I connected with a post from Chris Foster (@CoachC_Foster) that served as a big reminder - “That dream was planted in your heart for a reason.” I needed this and I think others need this reminder too!! No matter what is going on in our lives, staying connected to our dream(s), doesn't mean we have to uproot our lives. We can continue to learn, grow, and find times to work on our dreams and connect that dream (or dreams) into our lives. I tend to get down about some things at times and I forget to keep connected to my dreams. Keep the spark going, no matter what is going on in my life. Look deep inside yourselves my friends, find that connection and keep it going!! Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I found a great thought - a short episode today to share this from Kylie Riordan (@mindfulheal) & this reminder: “Some of your favorite days haven't even happened yet and that's the magic of being alive.” ~ (@mindfulheal). This got me fired up to realize that I still have better days ahead of me. My new favorite day is still coming and then there will be another one, and so on. I love that mindset to keep looking ahead for the next best day! Thanks for listening. Ink Relief is a Chicago charity that covers tattoos for survivors of sex trafficking and domestic abuse. It's run by Ben Wahh who says it feels great to help erase painful parts of the past for people who need it the most. Wahh owns Deluxe Tattoo in Chicago, and for more than 30 years, he's be creating works of arts to help people express themselves, but a couple of years ago, he's started using his talent to help victims of sex trafficking and domestic violence reclaim their bodies and their lives by covering up unwanted tattoos and scars. "I was contacted by a group called Salt and Light (Coalition), and they run a program to help survivors," recalls Wahh who says he feels great about being able to help people heal. "When they have their abuser's name on their body it's horrible. It's like a daily reminder of the abuse and the horrible period of their lives," explains Wahh, who does all of the work for the survivors no matter how many sessions it takes, free of charge. For each new tattoo, Wahh carefully crafts a design to cover up the existing painful reminder. He explains, "You can't just do use anything for a cover up. It has to work specifically for that design you're covering, whether it's a cut, whether it's a bite, whether it's a burn, with the elements of the design, you want them to work with the shapes of the scar." The results are incredible, and those who received the tattoos says they are eternally grateful. 41-year-old Ella is one of the dozens of survivors Wahh has helped. "I've been through a lot of domestic violence, plus a lot of trauma with men," she explains. That includes two men, whose names were tattooed on her body. "I was forced to get them, and I never even wanted it," she explains, adding, "I hated it. I still felt like a piece of their property. Ellas says Wahh gave her "the best gift ever" by covering up those painful reminders with new tattoos including one where the name was beautifully transformed into flowers and butterflies. She says it was very emotional in a happy way when she first looked at her back and no longer saw the name. "By Ben doing this for me. I feel like I owe him my life. He gave me my life back," says Ella adding, "I feel like I'm me again. I'm nobody's property like, I own my identity again. I thank him so much." She also says if it wasn't for Wahh, she would never have been able to afford to get the tattoo covered up or removed because the high cost. As for Wahh, he says he's touched to be a part of the healing journey for so many. "I love being able to be the person to be like, ‘I'm going to help,' you and do it. To know that you really help that person is a really good feeling," he says as he recalls how many people he's helped. He's also hoping people will help him to help even more survivors through Ink Relief. Wahh says anyone interested in helping or donating can find more information on the charity's website (inkrelief.org). "I've never done anything like this in my life. I've never run a charity. Anybody who has any resources or who can help please contact me," says Wahh.

“Send Coach John a message”I shared a very emotional story in today's episode from our weekend trip to Northern Michigan. We saw a dog tied up on the side of a major expressway. Someone abandoned the poor thing. I got on my phone right away and called 911 to report this and they said they would send someone out right away to help the dog. I sure hope the dog is ok. I was in tears and I still have not shaken the memory from my mind and heart. It got me thinking about how much we need to treat animals / ourselves / others, so much better than we really do. Humans have shown throughout history that we don't do this very well. This incident reminded me personally that I need to keep striving to get better and be better. Better for myself, my wife, family, friends, others, and this includes our dog and other pets. Someone's heartless, gutless and inhuman choice to leave their dog out there like that, has made a BIG impact on me to keep striving to be better. I hope this helps you do the same. “Send Coach John a message”I found something that got me thinking, reflecting, smiling and yes, having a few tears. It came from liminal (@Liminal1988) where they shared this post: “A happy life doesn't consist of just happy moments, it is a mixture of both the happy and the sad. There will be good times - when you laugh with your friends until your cheeks are read and your stomach hurts, trips to the park and the zoo, shopping and late-night ice-cream runs, and private jokes and notes passed in class, and every little prank that you play. There will be long lazy days spent at the beach as you dip into the ocean just as the sun sets, and holidays to countries with tender sand and warmth in the air, and nights you spend indoors with your family wrapped around you and the comforting days that you spend alone. ~ Ruby Dhal, (author of The Path to Self-love.) Each item in this post got me thinking about many things throughout my life. In fact when I typed this out, I got to thinking about other things too. So many things reminded me that I have had a happy life so far AND I plan to choose to continue to have more of a happy life too as I get older. I sincerely hope this helps you to connect with having a happy life too. Thanks for listening. The Book of Acts: 5 Marks of a Difference Maker (Acts 9:32–43) Ryan Rice by North Valley Church
Whatever the crop or region, growers prioritize the same things – yield and quality. Understanding the relationship of redox active molecules in maintaining plant charge balance provides a crucial pathway to achieving those goals. “Energy is either building yield and quality or fixing problems” said Dr. Gifford Gillette, Redox lead researcher. “A redox active molecule enables the plant to do more with less.”“What we are talking about is continuing with the fertilizer base that people have,” said Redox CEO Darin Moon. “In order to get better ROI, we have to wrap this inside of plant charge balance. The way you deal with plant charge balance is a redox active molecule, properly evaluated, fractionated and put into a product mix, that can literally affect the ability of a plant to absorb energy, create energy flow, improve nutrient efficiency, yield and quality.” Redox RAM Technology is unrivaled in its ability to balance plants, helping growers do more with less and improving performance.
“Send Coach John a message”I found an amazingly short and simple item that I know I need to add to my to do list - maybe you do too. It comes from The Motivational Quotes (@MQUOTESLIFE) and the to-do item is this: “Sometimes rest is the most productive thing you can do.” One reason I see this as a good thing is that I'm getting older and so I can justify it a bit more. But I'm also seeing the truth and importance of this truth too. To get through the tough moments that life can throw at us nowadays, really finding the time to rest and recharge is becoming more of a necessity instead of something to say “oh I wish I could rest and recharge”. By resting, recharging, clearing our head, feeling better, recovering, etc., is that we can be better to go back and deal with things a bit later. Remember, when we are not at our best - we can't be our best for others. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I found today's motivation tidbit from Jim Rohn Official (@OfficialJimRohn) where he reminds us about what success is really made up of. Remember, we all have our own pieces of what success means to us. "Success is a few simple disciplines practiced every day; while failure is simply a few errors in judgment repeated every day." — “Jim Rohn Simple. Daily. Repeated. That's the formula.” As I let this sink in a bit, it's easy for me to see that I have plenty to work on each and every day and I am grateful for the chance to keep getting better. “Send Coach John a message”Found a very spot-on post here for all of us to connect with. It comes from Inspiration & More (@LifeWithJohn) where this is the gold nugget he shared: “The world is changed by your example not by your opinion. - Paul Coelho ~ Talking the talk isn't enough………Walk the Walk!” Way too many of us simply do too much talking (yes.. That is me you see standing up holding my hand up… guilty for sure on this one), instead of putting more action out there into the world. Social media is dominated I think with so many “keyboard warriors” who spew thoughts and opinions and then they are actually “walking a totally different walk.” The hidden agenda by so many people is for so many other reasons than simply to try and live a good life and help others. I know for one I need to keep walking my correct walk a bit more. I'm not going to put too many of my opinions out there telling others how to do their walk… other than encouraging them to actually “walk their walk.” Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I came across this list of great ways to improve our mental health. In today's world, it is for sure worthwhile to keep improving ourselves, and our mental health is one of the best things we can do for sure. It comes from Sports Psychology (@SportPsychTips) Here it is: “Eight ways to improve your mental health: 1. Think positive, 2. Be in the moment, 3. Have fun, 4. Live a healthy lifestyle, 5. Work toward your goals, 6. Love others, 7. Have purpose in life and 8. Ask for help.” I know for sure I have plenty to work on and this list sure does give me some things to keep focusing in on. “Send Coach John a message”I found a powerful and simple statement from Kylie Riordan (@mindfulheal) that I connected with in yesterday's podcast. “When we understand that each day isn't one more day, but one less, we start giving more value to what truly matters.” I guess it's easier to see the truth in this statement as we get older. The key is to not wait too long to connect with it and allow it to have an impact on how you live your days. Know that today is the youngest we will ever be and that tomorrow we will be older and closer to our last day. This gets me thinking about not wasting little moments throughout my day - right now. Look around and see what really matters in your life and start connecting with that more and more… today! Thanks for listening. What happens when an organization says all the right things about culture, puts the values on the wall, launches the initiative, and nothing actually moves? Carlee Wolfe has spent more than two decades inside that gap, and her answers will challenge how you lead. Carlee Wolfe is Associate Vice President of Leader Development and Organizational Effectiveness at Hyatt Hotels, where her work sits at the intersection of global leadership, talent strategy, and culture. Her perspective is shaped not only by the boardroom but by two decades of coaching volleyball and volunteering with the Olympic and Paralympic movement, including adaptive sports. In this episode, we explore: Why the moments before and after a big transformation matter more than the launch itself, and how leaders ride the wave ahead of their teams What organizations consistently get wrong about high performance, and why doing your job well makes you a great performer, not an underperformer Why belonging does not mean comfort, and what happens when belonging becomes a brand promise with no actions, policies, or behaviors behind it How community functions as real organizational capacity, from shared learning in the age of AI to carrying the weight together Why burnout never wins for anyone, and how to lead for sustainable output instead of endless hours Timestamps (estimates, confirm against final edit) 00:00 Cold open: when culture initiatives do not move culture 01:10 Welcome and what this show is about 01:52 Meet Carlee Wolfe 03:05 Carlee joins the conversation 03:55 The arc of transformation: leading the before and after of big moments 07:00 What organizations misunderstand about high performance 10:55 Doing your job well makes you a great performer 11:05 Silicon Valley, global work cultures, and the overwork trap 12:40 Output over hours: burnout, capacity, and decision quality 16:30 Belonging does not mean comfort 20:50 Trust is built when actions match the words on the wall 21:30 Community as capacity: carrying the weight together 24:55 The bar you can raise alone versus the bar you can raise with others 27:55 Where to find Carlee 28:25 Join the Difference Makers on Patreon Connect with Carlee Find Carlee Wolfe at: LinkedIn (search Carlee Wolfe) and https://www.aceandarrowconsulting.com Connect with us Subscribe, leave a review at https://www.aworldofdifferencepodcast.com/reviews/new/, and share this episode. “Send Coach John a message”I was doing some looking for things to inspire, teach, remind and get me to do some reflecting… and I found this from Bob Starkey (@CoachBobStarkey). You can also connect with him HERE on his blog site. Coach shared: “Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow.” ~ Anthony J. D'Angelo. It's something that I discussed with a few friends & former colleagues on a quick visit to my old work place this morning. It really does add tremendous value to every one of my days and it continues to inspire me to keep improving in any way I can. It's something that I will continue to share with others too. I know it adds more life to each of my days and I know it will do the same for you when you go after learning things, connecting with others and always looking to be your best. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”My connection with John O'Leary keeps getting stronger as I continue to see what a difference maker he is for people. A recent podcast from him had this description “It is rarely the brightest lights or biggest personalities that change the world most profoundly. Far more often and far more importantly, it's ordinary people quietly choosing to use whatever gifts they have to lift the lives around them.” You can find the short episode HERE. The short part I am sharing in today's show gets me thinking about saying YES to doing more to making a difference for others and myself. The world needs us to use our gifts for the people around us that need help in whatever way we can help them. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I really enjoy days where I can find a simple reminder that has a lot of power behind it. Today's reminder comes from Roy T. Bennett (@InspiringThinkn) where he reminds us about this: “Faith, hope, love, and truth form the pillars of life; without them, nothing truly stands.” (Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart) I am reminded about these pillars of life that I need to keep not only investing in improving in these areas for myself, but also that when I keep improving - everyone around me gets better too! This is about how powerful this is if we all keep looking to improve and help each other get better! These parts of life are very “attractive” to have. We connect with people when we have good things going on around ourselves. Since life is all about relationships, the more we can improve on those relationships, the better things will be. One thing for sure, I need to keep working on many different things to keep getting better. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”Going back to back here my friends as I connect with Mark Hickie (@MPHickie) again on a very thought provoking & taking a deep breath type of moment. This lesson he introduces with his thoughts first: “We spend so much energy regretting wrong decisions, failed attempts & lost time. Often detours are what help us discover who we truly are. Every mistake carries a lesson, every setback has meaning. The goal isn't to dwell on the past-it's to understand what it's here to teach us.” This quote really does make sense, especially in today's techy world. “I'm a big fan of the ‘GPS Theory': when you miss a turn, your GPS doesn't judge you, it recalculates. No matter how many detours you take, it finds another way forward. Life works like that too. You'll make mistakes, but your destination doesn't vanish. The route just changes.” I needed this easy to connect with thought. I've made mistakes for sure, but I do just need to keep finding another way forward. Too bad I don't move as fast as my GPS does in calculating a new way. How's your GPS system doing? Stay plugged in to it for sure. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”Love the daily reminders and lessons I get from Mark Hickie (@MPHickie) and this one really got me thinking about a few things. Mark's intro to the post was this: “A message for today … Everyone is on their own unique journey. Appreciate the people who cross your path, cherish the lessons they leave behind & move forward with gratitude and purpose. Walk your path with kindness, integrity & purpose and embrace the journey ahead.” These are powerful reminders for all of us and reminding ourselves of these, during the moments we are in them throughout life …. That is a key element to having an amazing life. The post said this: “Everyone is on their own unique journey. Walk your path with purpose, kindness, and integrity, while wishing others well on theirs. When your paths meet, appreciate the moments you share together. When they part, continue forward with strength and gratitude. Cherish the lessons, memories, and footprints they leave on your heart, then embrace the opportunity to keep growing and discovering who you are along the way.” As I read this and retyped it out here, I sure did think of so many people that have shared our journeys together. Getting a little misty eyed about it too. Wow, I am blessed in so many ways and I am so very grateful for all of it. So many good people out there and I have connected with many of them. I hope you have the same experiences too. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I found a powerful reminder that I know I need to take with me every day and I also know, FOR SURE, that others need to remember this too. It comes from Gary Hensel (@gary_hensel) and it is this: “Blowing out someone else's candle doesn't make yours shine any brighter.” We have way too much of people blowing out others' candles thinking that it's ok, and also that it means they are successful. Many that keep doing it also think it means they are a good person for others to follow - in business, religion, etc. It's total nonsense my friends. The thing is - I need to make sure that I'm not blowing out anyone's candles - I want to be the one to help them light them. The only candle to blow out is that of hate, intolerance, selfishness, etc. Again, the world needs this reminder more now than ever. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I always love seeing some of the same strong people, who continue to post things on a regular basis that help others. A former student of mine who is now a fabulous teacher and coach, Coach Ray Ostrowski (@CoachRayO3313) is definitely one of those people that are a quality difference maker for others. Here is his intro for the post I saw today: “Your % matters. You can't be a part-timer & expected to receive full-time benefits & rewards. Break ‘what you do' up into a % based on your number of opportunities & see how you stack up. Are your outcomes in line with your expectations? Does your % help or hurt your effort?” Now remember, he writes these quotes out every day on a big white board in marker, for his students / players to see! He's sharing these gems for anyone that wants to keep getting better - even if we are not in high school any more or that we don't play football either. That's the beauty of being a lifetime learner… it happens every day if you go looking for it. The quote that he wrote out is this: “% Matters! You can't be a part-timer & expect full time benefits & rewards. In sports, percentages matter - 75% from the line is solid, while .350 from the plate is elite. But in life, what % of the work are you actually doing? If you're only showing up for half the reps, half the prep & half the effort - don't expect the whole result. There isn't much middle ground for commitment & excuse. The scoreboard will reflect your investment.” WOW!! Take that to heart my friends. This got me thinking about my % as connected to my everyday life. What's my “batting average” for each day? Am I even getting to the plate to take an at bat or am I content sitting in the bleachers and “resting” because it's more comfortable and I “get to” or “I've earned it” since I'm retired. Dang Coach Ray…. you got this guy doing some deep thinking with this one my friend. Thank You! (I hope he's got you thinking too my friends.) Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I came across not only a post from Jon Gordon (@JonGordon11) but I also just picked up a copy of his latest book “The Power of Positive Habits”. Great stuff in my quest to just keep trying to get better and be my best version of myself. The post was this: “There's nothing more powerful than a humble person with a warrior spirit who is driven by a bigger purpose.” I love this!! What a huge reminder for us to keep looking to be humble throughout life! Keep looking to have the mindset of a warrior - keep going, not giving up, get back up when getting knocked down, etc. Keep feeding that spark inside of us that helps to make us who we are. Why are we here? What are we doing with our lives? I think it's all about constantly connecting with our purpose - every - single - day!! Thanks for listening. ITL debates whether the Texans may have found an under-the-radar contributor.
Have you ever noticed how easy it is to miss God when life feels ordinary? We pray for miracles, yet overlook the countless ways Heaven is already moving around us. We beg God for provision while standing in the middle of prayers he's already answering. We ask him to open doors, never realizing the door in front of us was opened by his hand all along. Girl, God is working in your life right now. Not someday. Not when things finally change. Not only in dramatic, jaw-dropping moments. Right now. In the ordinary conversation. In the unexpected timing. In the strength you somehow found to keep going. In the opportunity that “just happened” to appear. In the little things you almost brushed past without noticing. Because our God specializes in taking ordinary things and adding his extra. And when God adds his extra to your ordinary … it becomes extraordinary. Our God is not limited to meet needs in ordinary ways, practical ways, or expected ways. Although often times his power meets us in disguise, so we are unaware of how miraculous it truly is. We experience split second perfect timing that was orchestrated in heaven just for us, but it seems ordinary so we don’t recognize it as miraculous. We walk into divinely opened doors which only God could open for us, but because it was open when we got there and required no extra effort on our part, we failed to notice God did that. But all around you, God has been working. Every day of your life, God’s power has been on miraculous display in everything that seems ordinary. You likely never even notice … until God shows up and does something extraordinary. God is our extra. He can take our ordinary lives that seem unimpressive and normal, and he can make them radically extraordinary. You bring your ordinary, and he brings his extra. Let that be your prayer today. God, take my ordinary and make it extraordinary. I need the extra only you can offer! One of Jesus’ extraordinary miracles on earth is recorded by Matthew in a single verse. None of the other gospels mention the miracle, so it seems to be less impressive than his other miracles. But I believe this miracle is precisely what you and I need today. We need to see Jesus’ extra meeting the ordinary. Peter has just confessed that Jesus is the son of God. He has placed his faith in Jesus, committed his life to him. Then Peter is approached by tax collectors asking about Jesus’ payment of taxes. Funny, even Jesus was pestered by tax collectors. And this is what Jesus tells Peter to do in Matthew 17:27, “Go to the sea, cast in a fishhook, and take the first fish that you catch. When you open its mouth you’ll find a coin. Take it and give it to them for me and you.” This is what you call extraordinary. This miracle hidden in a single verse in our bible shows us so much about our Jesus! 1. God works through the ordinary. 2. Obedience unlocks provision 3. God partners with what's already in your hand. My friends, not everything miraculous looks dramatic. God works through ordinary things like a fish to do radically extraordinary things. Jesus could have avoided paying the taxes. Afterall, this was the temple tax, money collected to build the temple. Jesus was greater than the temple. He could have flexed just a bit, shown who he really was and proven he was exempt from this tax. But, he didn’t. Jesus is humble, there’s no need to flex. So, money was needed to pay the tax. A half-shekel, which was about 2 days wages. Jesus could have manifested the money in the pocket of his robe, and Peter would have never known the difference. But Jesus decided to be extra so Peter could be in on the miraculous. Gosh, I love that about our Jesus … He actually lets us be part of his extraordinary works. We're not needed … but we're wanted! All Peter had to be was obedient. Jesus didn't say, “Hey Peter, your tax bill is just going to be magically erased.” No, Jesus said, “Go to the sea, cast in a fishhook, and take the first fish that you catch.” Peter was being called to obedience. Action was required, and actually quite ordinary action. Isn't that what we often miss – when we need an extraordinary act of God, we overlook the very ordinary acts of obedience on our part. We want God to show up and do miraculous things without us getting our hands dirty. Girl, you still gotta put the bait on your own hook. Obedience unlocks provision. Peter still had to bait the hook and put it in the water! Sometimes the greatest miracles happen in the middle of ordinary obedience. I have to be honest with you – it's the absolute only reason I was willing to get up at 3:30 this morning to work on this devotional while at retreat on a very busy filled day. I want to see God's miracles, so I will be obedient in the ordinary things like waking up as early as needed to give God his time. Jesus didn't ask Peter to do anything insanely courageous. Nothing flashy. Not even anything exciting. No Peter, just fish. Do what you already know how to do. He uses precisely what Peter is good at … fishing. Jesus simply tells Peter to go fishing, do what he’s always done, and the money will be provided. God partners with what's already in your hand. Peter was a fisherman. He had fished nearly every day of his life. He knew how to tie a hook on. He knew how to cast that hook out. And he knew how to bring that fish in. And Jesus told him to do what was so ordinary for him, but this time it would be EXTRA. Jesus' extra on your ordinary is … extraordinary! What feels routine to you may be the very place God wants to reveal his glory. Do you want to be part of Jesus' miraculous works? Jesus will do his thing with or without you. His power will not be stopped. But you've received an invitation to be part of that work and it will be the most fulfilling and beautiful part of your entire life. Oh how I pray you won't miss it. Peter was invited into partnership to be part of this miracle, not because he was needed but because he was wanted. When Jesus invites you into a partnership with him, what is it you imagine you will need to do? Do you imagine you will need to do something big? Something really special? Something flashy? Something everyone will see? Honey, what if it will be as simple as doing what you’ve always done, but this time you just do it with Jesus working in and through you? Peter fishing wasn’t anything big and special. If anyone would have seen Peter fishing that day, they would have thought absolutely nothing of it. But, Peter was fishing in partnership with Jesus and the catch would be radically different. The difference wasn't the fishing. The difference was Jesus. JESUS IS YOUR DIFFERENCE MAKER! What if Jesus is inviting you into this miraculous partnership with him, but it’s not nearly as flashy as you imagined. It’s really quite ordinary. It’s what you’ve already been doing. It’s what you’ve been doing every day. It’s what you already know how to do. Would you do it? Really, would you show up and do what you’ve always done, but this time do it with Jesus? Peter didn't need a new calling. He needed Jesus in his current calling. Now, REALLY think about the power of God that is displayed in this single verse tucked away in a miracle no one else talked about. Of all the fish in the sea, Jesus knew precisely which fish had a coin in its mouth. He also knew exactly where that fish would need to be in order to bite Peter’s hook. God orchestrated all of that! Before Peter ever cast the hook, God had already prepared the fish. And what … you think God doesn’t care about the little details of your life? He cares where your hook lands. He directs which fish bites your hook. He orchestrates it all in such ordinary ways you may have missed it before. You miss it until he adds a little extra to it. Do you need God to add a little extra today so you know it’s really him? Do you need to see his fingerprints so you know he’s really working in the details of your life? Girl, ask him! Ask him for a glimpse of his extraordinary power today. I bet he’s done it for you before. I bet you’ve been in the right place at the right time. I bet you were enabled to speak words you didn’t know you had. I bet you had supernatural strength just when it was needed. I bet you’ve reached into your pocket and found forgotten money. How absolutely extraordinary!!!! It’s already happening for you!!!!! I wonder what else God will do for you and through you if you will keep showing up, doing the ordinary things you do, but do it as a committed partnership with him? What will he divinely align for your catch? What will he miraculously provide when you try again? God already knows what you need. Before Peter ever reached the shore, the fish was already swimming with provision in its mouth. Before you ever prayed, God was already preparing an answer. Before you knew the need was coming, Heaven was already in motion. But putting the hook in the water is still your call. Yes, get up early. Yes, show up again. Yes, you make that phone call. Yes, you do the ordinary work again. Do the ordinary thing God has placed in front of you and trust him to add his extra. Because remember this – one ordinary act of obedience with Jesus can become absolutely extraordinary. “Send Coach John a message”Found this gem from Kylie Riordan (@mindfulheal) and it's one that I haven't really connected with this thought before. This is the new connection to kindness for me. “Kindness is loaning someone your strength instead of reminding them of their weakness.” I love this thought. Encouraging others, lifting them up; more than pointing out something they might need to fix. I think there is a lot of pointing out the faults of others. What is more strengthening to others, is taking this higher and different “road” in interacting with them. One thing for sure, I need to do more of this for sure. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I found a fantastic reminder from Overmind (@overmind01) where this little gem was shared with everyone: “8 billion people on Earth. Almost none know you exist. The few who do are too busy to care. Relax. No one's watching. Go build your life.” So much to digest out of these few sentences. Reminding ourselves that just about everyone on this planet doesn't know who we are. There are some good people - a few that do know us and are pulling for us, but that number is really small. Realizing that all of these people really don't have any say in what we want to do with our lives. It's up to us. We can't let outside “noise” get in the way of what we do with our lives. What happens when you spend 18 years building a company to $5 million in revenue across 80 countries, finally sell it, and then wake up with no idea who you are without it? Fiona Macaulay knows that moment intimately, and what she built from it is changing how thousands of accomplished women think about what comes next. In this episode, Lori Adams-Brown sits down with Fiona Macaulay, founder of The Wild Network, co-author of Aim High and Bounce Back, and creator of the Next Chapter Accelerator, to explore the real terrain of midlife reinvention: identity loss after success, the shame women carry around failure, and the practical tools that make starting over less lonely and more intentional. What you will hear in this episode: Why selling a thriving company felt like "perceived failure" and what that reveals about how we define success What being "stuck" actually looks like for accomplished mid-to-senior career women, and how to tell the difference between needing a rest and needing genuine change The three things every woman in transition needs: process, community, and a new chapter network Why Fiona takes women on a walking retreat on the Camino de Santiago in Spain, and what movement unlocks that a boardroom simply cannot The Leadership Fail Lab that sparked a book: what happened when successful women from across the globe started sharing their biggest failures on stage Four types of failure (including "circumstantial failure" and "perceived failure") and how naming the right one changes your recovery Why the biggest failure of all is the one you never attempted About Fiona Macaulay: Fiona Macaulay is a three-time entrepreneur, global leadership expert, and founder of The Wild Network, a community of 25,000 purpose-driven leaders across 115 countries. “Send Coach John a message”I connected with this guy again, as it's been awhile since I've shared something from Coach AJ / Mental Fitness (@coachajkings). This one is a reminder of some pure gold basics in life. It comes from football coach, Dabo Swinney who said, "It's the optimists who change the world." Success starts with your mindset and what you do every single day. A bad attitude holds you back. A great attitude takes you forward. "The only disability in life is a bad attitude." We all have this disability at times throughout our lives, along with others. Keep trying to be your best as I am doing the same. I'm reminding myself that my effort and attitude are the only things that I can really control - I need to keep working on these for sure. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I found one simple sentence that to me was a very powerful post. It comes from Overmind (@overmind01) and here is the sentence: “Real education starts after you leave school.” Yes sir, 100% right on target for sure. Think of what you are “learning” every day!! “Education” itself simply does not mean in a formal school setting. That's where it starts of course, but real education is something that we are privileged to seek and go after, every single day of our lives! What are your “lesson plans” for today? For your life? Keep striving to get better. To be better. To be a difference maker for others. To be humble and hungry. To understand that nobody gets through this life alone or untouched by challenges, difficulties, setbacks, road blocks, failures, and ultimately, death! “School” is open every day, 24 / 7 / 365. We just have to pay attention to this and to keep learning. The right things are out there for us to pick up and make a part of our “educational” resume. Keep at it!! Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”There has been a young lady who is in the battle of her life with ALS, that I've been following for a few years. A recent post I saw was her taking questions that she is answering about her journey. Her name is Sarah Nauser (@SarahNauser) and her bio on her Twitter / X account says this: “Dominating ALS one day at a time since 2018. Retired Police Officer. “Love the life you live and live the life you love” Go Royals! #FightLikeAGirl“ She answered a question “are you afraid?” and her answer sure does get me thinking about things in my life and offering me a different perspective as to how I need to change things as far as I handle my troubles. She reminds me in her post about the importance of having “faith over fear”. The lessons she offers from what she's going through, I sure can use them for what I'm going through - simply because my battles are nothing on the scale of seriousness & life altering as she has. She is battling every single day. If she can do that, I know I can do the same. Life is full of inspirational stories and lessons for all of us. Keep seeking them and also don't forget your story, actions, your life - all can help others too. As usual, the world needs these lessons more now than ever!! Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”Love this post that came across my “wires” today. It comes from Drew Maddux (@DrewMaddux) and he shares this thought about the quote I will share with you as “Life's highest calling... Pick up the Trash...leave people, places, and things better than you found them! Every conversation matters. Every interaction matters. Every encounter is an opportunity to bring life, hope, and encouragement to someone else. You never know what someone is carrying, and you never know how one word, one smile, or one moment of genuine care might change their direction. Life is not only built in the big moments…it's built in the ordinary ones. So, treat every day like it matters, because somebody else's life might depend on it.” The quote that he shared with his comments goes like this: “I'm very optimistic that every conversation, interaction, or encounter you have every day can change somebody else's life.” Just imagine for a moment, if more people took this to heart and set out throughout their day to consciously live this out. Even in small ways, this can be a HUGE deal for others and their world. This is an awesome & powerful mindset to have throughout life. I dare you to try it. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I found an amazing post with unbelievable timing. This really hit home as we just lost my uncle earlier this morning. He had a long, long life as he was in his early 90's. He fought with many different battles over the last few years - cancer and Alzheimer's to name just two of his battles. This quote hit home for me: “The people we love and have lost don't just shape our past; they show up in how we live every day.” George Couros is the one who said this and shared it too. George Couros (@gcouros) who had this thought about the quote: "You don't feel sad all the time, but for the rest of your life, you are different. I can't explain it any better than that." I love this other thought he threw out there about grief: “You Don't Get Over Grief, You Become Someone New Around It.” These thoughts here have been circling around my brain since I saw them. My aunt and my two cousins have been at my uncle's side for a few days now as the end was drawing near. This family has had their share of tragedy in their lives - but… they have always been there for each other throughout their entire lives. What a powerful lesson for all of us to learn from. I'd like to keep on my journey of looking to get better, every single day - because of and for, the people that shaped me and came before me. That's the best way to keep connected to others that make an impact on us. For me - it's one more balcony person not only cheering me on, but also gives me another big reason to keep working hard and doing my best in life. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I saw this post that connected directly to one of my favorite all-time shoes, Ted Lasso. This post was from one of the characters on the show, Higgins and it was one of so many life lessons shared on the show. In a conversation with another character, Roy - Higgins mentioned this to him: “Human beings are never going to be perfect, Roy. The best we can do is keep asking for help and accepting it when you can. And if you keep on doing that, you'll always be moving towards better.” Asking for help is something that many have trouble with doing and some even have trouble giving help too. Recently going through another operation, I've been put in the position of needing a lot of help. My wife has gone beyond “stepping up”, as she is doing everything. Today, I'm getting around better and doing a bit more for myself. This point from the show really got me thinking about not only my life right now - but also the way it should be more often. If we are looking for help (and we should be open to that), we need to be more helpful towards others. Do yourself a favor - check out the Ted Lasso show and see the awesome character development and the many life lessons that all of us can use more of. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”From Jon Gordon (@JonGordon11) came this gem on what he calls a “MindsetMonday”. “Don't let old battles keep you from new victories.” I've done this plenty of times. Keep re-hashing something in my head from my past that is holding me back from my current day / in the moment things I should be doing. This became clear again not because I saw this post, but actually going through it because of my recent surgery. So much stuff we tend to carry around and if you are like me, sometimes that old stuff gets in the way of doing new & great things. Something good for me to work on while I have a bit more time on my hands as I heal up. Thanks for listening. No one likes to feel out of place, but we've all felt that way before. In fact, as followers of Jesus, we should expect it. 1 Peter 2:11 says we live as “aliens and strangers in the world.” This means God's grace causes us to see the world we were born into differently. We're living in a wild world that grows more chaotic by the minute. But Peter's letters not only teach us how to live in this wild world; they also remind us that we are called to change it. So, get ready, because into the wild we go.
“Send Coach John a message”What an amazing, emotional and inspiring conversation I had with another former student of mine, Eli'Ana Klemm. This was a powerful conversation all connected to her recent book, "Resilient" (click the title for the link) and the lessons she learned from extreme loss and injury when she was young. Eli'Ana shares so many lessons of life in this conversation that I know this will make a positive difference with so many people. You can connect with her on Instagram (@Beyondherblues) and there you will find other ways she shares her insights, encouragement and life enhancing ideas. She is again, another student that I've had the pleasure to work with that really makes a difference with others. She's also one that I'm very proud of and thankful for all the lessons she continues to teach me. This is one to share with others for sure, both here and on my Youtube channel as well. “Send Coach John a message”For my last pre-recorded, post surgery episode (hopefully), I'm leaning on a legend. John C. Maxwell (@TheJohnCMaxwell) is someone that has been around for a very long time. I remember for most of my life knowing who this guy is and finding my way to being connected to his teachings. This one is a gem that he shares with us today. “The only guarantee that tomorrow is going to be better than today is that you're growing right now.” Let this clip sink in a bit. Listen to it a couple of times. In our growth during tough times, we have the choice of learning from those moments, in order for us to have a better tomorrow. This is something that I know I need to do more of - especially during my recovery from my surgery. Not easy times right now. Painful times right now. But I know I'm getting better from what I had to go through. This lesson I need to keep leaning on, stay connected to, because I know there will be other tough times to get through and to learn from as I'm going through them. You know what?? The same goes for you. The same goes for everyone. We just need to remember this for our moments of tough times so that we can grow from what we learn about going through them. Here's to better tomorrows. Everyone around us gets better when we grow! Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I found a gem from a “repeat difference-maker of doing good things” - Coach Ray Ostrowski (@CoachRayO3313) shared his thoughts on his Daily Quote - “You will never feel ready. But the moment changes when you decide to MOVE!” This reminder that action does indeed cure fear along with adding confidence. The quote is this: “Ready? - You will never ‘feel ready'. Ready is not a feeling - Ready is a decision. Confidence comes after the decision, not before it. You'll never feel fully prepared. The moment changes when you decide to move.” This hit head on for me in that at this moment, I hope my surger is tomorrow, but a few wrinkles have gotten in the way due to insurance company “issues”. There are many things that I'm battling and that inner voice is one of the biggest. That is something that is connected to how I get things done I need to do along with preparing and recovering from this surgical event. So, in the meantime… I'm not sitting back playing a victim and letting worry & anxiety take the steering wheel. I'm moving and doing. Whatever you got going on, I hope this helps you my friend. In this episode of the Difference Maker Revolution Podcast the team dives into what it really means to stay grounded in a world that feels increasingly chaotic and how photographers are not reacting to the noise but learning how to rise above it.This is a conversation about mindset, focus, and purpose and how shifting the way you see the world can completely change the way you show up in your business and life.
“Send Coach John a message”I came across this awesome idea, almost a frame of mind that I know I need to have more often. It comes from Steve Gutzler (@SteveGutzler) “I'm on a ONE DAY contract.” It's a reminder for me to be my best so that at the end of the day, when I look in the mirror, that guy looking back at me will say - you've earned another contract for tomorrow to work hard, do good and be your best. It reminds me to have more “be in the moment more” moments, each and every day. It reminds me to keep fighting for the things I know I need to do and want to do. It reminds me to keep up the mindset of “not to grow weary in doing good”! I want to fulfill to my wife, our two kids, my entire family, friends, etc., that they are glad that I'm here doing good things and serving others, encouraging others, helping others. What's your one-day contract all about? Thanks for listening.
