“Bosom Buddies” is a sitcom that aired on ABC from 1980 to 1982. The show starred Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari as two single men who disguise themselves as women to be able to move into a cheap apartment at a women-only residence. The show often explored themes of gender stereotypes and male/female relationships, using the characters' disguises to create comedic situations. Although “Bosom Buddies” started with good ratings, it struggled to maintain its audience and was canceled after two seasons. Despite its short run, the show is notable for launching Tom Hanks' career, who went on to become an Oscar-winning actor. Is this a show worth checking out? Could this show even be made modern day? Listen as the guys deep dive the show's pilot episode. When the trustees of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board convene their monthly public meeting on Tuesday Jan. 30, the trustee for Zone 9, Dr. Nili Kaplan-Myrth, will not be permitted to participate. It's a result of the sanctions imposed on the high-profile physician, back in December, for what the board voted were breaches of their trustees' code of conduct. In effect, the sanctions bar her from fully carrying out her elected role, which also means keeping her off five school board committees for the next three months. Kaplan-Myrth maintains she did nothing to justify the punishments in what she calls an “Orwellian” situation. Rather, she feels the code of conduct has been weaponized because she was forcefully pointing out how the Ottawa school board and some of its trustees routinely ignore her situation as a victim of rampant antisemitism and sexism: she has been the target of constant hateful emails and even death threats, including several currently being handled by police. Kaplan-Myrth has now asked for a leave of absence while she appeals the sanctions through the court system and elsewhere. But with two and a half years left on her term, the beleaguered trustee tells _The CJN Daily _why being in public life may not be worth it for Jewish women like herself. What we talked about: Learn more about the sanctions imposed on Kaplan-Myrth in December 2023, after an investigation into her conduct during meetings and during disputes with some of the other 11 trustees, in The CJN Read about the threats Kaplan-Myrth has received for her stance on COVID and masking, and also for being a Jewish woman, in The CJN (from 2022) Read the full report by the Ottawa school board's integrity commissioner on complaints about the behaviour of three trustees, including Kaplan-Myrth, Donna Dixon and Donna Blackburn Credits: The CJN Daily is written and hosted by Ellin Bessner (@ebessner on Twitter). “As in the original series, each episode in this incarnation of The Twilight Zone deals with a different topic, addressing such subjects as supernatural occurrences, racism, social issues, misinformation in the press, alien invasions, and immigration, with an unusual and an unexpected twist in each program. Notable episodes include Sanaa Lathan as a woman who discovers that her camcorder can turn back time, Chris O'Dowd as an anthropologist who studies a strange gun, Morena Baccarin as a hotel manager who finds everyone around her standing still, and Damon Wayans Jr. as a church handyman who finds that he can change his town by manipulating a smaller model of it. John Larroquette, Donna Dixon, Eric Keenleyside, Kristin Lehman, Ryan Robbins, Peter Kelamis, Ethan Embry, Gil Bellows, and George Takei also worked in these two seasons of the Twilight Zone.” - Factually Exclaims wikipedia.org “They need to revoke the use of the twilight zone name. Rod Serling would be revolted by the trip bearing its name.” - Types rottentomatoes.com “The Hunt” is truly a must-watch TWILIGHT ZONE episode. As such, it really holds up on multiple viewings and may remind some Christian viewers of the kind of Christian allegory that C.S. Lewis achieved in his acclaimed novella, THE GREAT DIVORCE. The main characters in “The Hunt” are more engaging, however. Bosom Buddies is an American television sitcom starring Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari created by Robert L. Boyett, Thomas L. Miller and Chris Thompson (Miller-Milkis-Boyett Productions). It aired for two seasons on ABC from November 27, 1980, to March 27, 1982, and in reruns in the summer of 1984 on NBC. The show features the misadventures of two single men, working in creative advertising, struggling in their industry while disguising themselves as women in order to live in the one apartment they could afford. Gender stereotypes and male/female interpersonal relationships were frequent themes. The show became known for its quirky humor and its frequent use of improvisation, especially between stars Hanks and Scolari. Though the show started out with good ratings, it failed to hold the public's interest and was canceled after two seasons.

The Living Truth Podcast - Freedom From Unwanted Sexual Behavior, Hope & Healing For the Betrayed
Sexual betrayal causes ongoing complex trauma. How can we effectively walk alongside betrayed partners? Donna Dixon has developed trauma informed training and certification for peer led partner betrayal groups (she trains all of our Women in the Battle leaders!) In this episode, Donna and Kristin reflect on the incredible healing power of simply bearing witness to another's pain... to just be with them in it. Donna's tender heart and wise insight sheds light on the effects of betrayal trauma on partners. She challenges us to grow in our view of suffering as a normal part of the human experience in a broken and fallen world and compassionately normalizes the crisis of faith that so many traumatized people experience. This episode can offer profound hope for the broken…that their faith in the goodness and power of God can actually be deconstructed and reconstructed. The result of this rebuilding can be an utter masterpiece! So many partners emerge from their betrayal trauma recovery work with hearts of greater compassion, removal of judgement, and tender authenticity that reflect Jesus like never before!
