In this telugu podcast with Shobu Garu, the mastermind behind *Baahubali* and co-founder of Arka Media, we dive deep into the complex world of TV serials, movie production, and the rise of OTT platforms. Drawing from his vast experience, Shobu Garu offers invaluable lessons on understanding audience behavior, managing production challenges, and making strategic investments. This conversation unveils the realities of working in the entertainment industry while also providing a glimpse into the nuances of startup investments. Shobu Garu begins by shedding light on the TV serial industry, explaining how producers capture and retain audience interest. He elaborates on how they monitor market trends, determine which characters are resonating with viewers, and adjust scripts based on TRP (Television Rating Points). He mentions that TRP, tracked by multinational agencies, is crucial for channels to assess a show's success. While TV remains a passive medium, Shobu Garu explores the possibility of responsive, interactive shows becoming popular in the future, though he notes that audiences are still comfortable with conventional passive storytelling for now. The conversation takes a deeper dive into the making of *Baahubali*. Shobu Garu recalls how the film initially received negative reviews on the first day, but the perception gradually shifted as more people watched it. He explains that fan-based audiences come with specific expectations, which can lead to early criticism. However, the involvement of Karan Johar in promoting *Baahubali* across North India played a pivotal role in establishing its pan-India appeal. Reflecting on a past project, *Eega*, Shobu Garu points out that while it struggled in Hindi theaters, it performed exceptionally well on TV, showing how different platforms affect audience reception. Budget management is another key aspect that Shobu Garu touches upon. With over 5,000 people working on the *Baahubali* crew, controlling costs was a daunting task. Despite the challenges, the team decided to increase the budget for the sequel to meet public expectations. Shobu Garu emphasizes that a bold vision sometimes requires financial flexibility. He also explains how the team resolved disagreements over budget decisions, ensuring the creative vision remained intact. The discussion then shifts to the complexities of large-scale movie releases. Releasing *Baahubali* across 8,000 screens was a groundbreaking move, and Shobu Garu provides insights into the logistics involved, including managing regional taxes and distribution strategies. He explains how postponing the sequel's release was a strategic decision that allowed the hype to build, ultimately contributing to the film's massive success. Beyond filmmaking, Shobu Garu delves into his investment strategies. He shares his approach to startup investments, explaining that he evaluates businesses across different stages—seed funding, pre-evaluation, and post-launch. Media-based startups, he believes, hold significant potential, and if given ₹1 crore, Shobu Garu mentions he would likely invest in a media venture. He also discusses the qualities he looks for in founders, valuing passion, adaptability, and long-term commitment over age or experience. Towards the end of the conversation, Shobu Garu offers practical advice for aspiring entrepreneurs. He cautions against blindly following trends without understanding the depth of a business. Success, he says, requires consistency, persistence, and a genuine passion for the craft. Shobu Garu warns that constantly shifting focus can be a red flag, and instead, one should work steadily toward achieving well-defined goals. Whether you're an aspiring filmmaker, a media enthusiast, or someone interested in startups, Shobu Garu's insights offer practical knowledge and inspiration.

Eega is a perfectly written movie and perfectly executed. The line itself if you tell anybody they will tell you this is the dumbest thing they have ever heard. But when you see it, it's next level. Most of all, movie is extremely entertaining. Sudeep's characterization is peak Rajamouli is making you hate the villain, but because the characterization s so good, Sudeep is able to give that masterpiece performance. Literally from first scene with hamsa Nandini, you get to know what type of person he is and his character in a nutshell. A ruthless womanizer businessman. Then he sets his sights on Bindu and every time they meet you can feel that ibbandi through the screen and that he might do something to her. then kills Nani and it turns his life upside down. The emotions are too good in the movie. Basically the emotional connect is Rajampuli special and he is literally the only director in the world who can make you root for and feel emotional about a housefly. The psychological aspect and toll the Eega has on Sudeep we as an audience feel that through the frustration of his character after the Eega starts making his life a living hell. It's basically showing that actions have consequences as the tantra told him. There's also foreshadowing actually. When Nani finds the barrel, I mean on the rewatch you notice but right there Rajamouli tells you how the movie is going to end. In most of his films foreshadowing is evident and Eega is the same. There's also a funny scene during Eega Eega montage where Sudeep is looking up how to kill a fly and then Samantha is looking up how to kill a human. Rajamouli is also in the movie. If you pause at 39:35, he is the guy throwing the cigarette in Eega introduction scene. The overarching theme of the movie is revenge just like any other Rajamouli movie: the soul of a murdered man is reincarnated as a fly and seeks revenge against his killer. And then Love after death. Nani dies sacrificing himself by Killing Sudeep to save Bindhu and is reborn again after this. There are many elevation scenes such as: Fly intro scene Interval scene Bindu realizing fly is Nani Entire Eega Eega song Fly imitating star heroes Chandeileie breaking and glass coming towards Sudeep and Eega reflection shot Climax scene where Sudeep sees a huge burning Fly silhouette before he dies Direction by Rajamouli is perfect. A lot of people say it's Rakamouli's best work. I personally feel it's Baahubali 2 but Eega is also worthy. He made the movie from the Sega's POV so effortless and entertaining so that it's an amazing cinematic experience. The effort for everything in the movie is visible and of course he extracted an iconic performance from Sudeep. Each and every scene is brilliantly directed and as mentioned before the sheer fact that he made you emotional over a housefly means he can literally do anything and everything. The fact that the fly doesnt talk either and the entire thing is built on fun and entertainment and suspense makes it even more impressive and incredible. Eega is proof as to why he's the master story teller.
Needles, choreographed dances, and superhero flies, oh my! Shaun Duke and David Annandale wander to yet another part of the world to talk about S.S. Rajamouli's 2012 epic, Eega. Together, they examine the film's premise, Rajamouli's approach to special effects, what it means to make a superhero movie that defies expectation, and so much more. […]

In this episode, Shabnam Sahi brings you the latest from Bollywood, Anushka Arora talks about the RRR BAFTA campaign with SS Rajamouli in London. Rajamouli has directed twelve feature films so far, and all of them were successful at the box office. Baahubali 2 is currently the highest grossing film in India, and sold over 10 crore (100 million) tickets during its box office run; the highest estimated admissions for any film in India since Sholay (1975). The 2009 fantasy action film Magadheera was the highest-grossing Telugu film ever at the time. His 2012 film Eega won the Most Original Film at the 8th Toronto After Dark Film Festival. Baahubali films have received six Saturn Award nominations, with Baahubali 2 winning the Best International Film. RRR is nominated in three categories at the 47th Saturn Awards, including a Best Director nomination, winning the Best International Film.
How does the king of beeg cinema go small? Trick question, he don't! Small in scope but still big on imagination, we're (mostly) abuzz with praise for Wilson's Deep Cut pick for Rajamouli, 2012's Eega. Eli praises the positively fly performance of Sudeep, a villain you love to hate, Thanmye highlights Rajamouli's overlooked talents as a director of comedy, and Wilson celebrates Rajamouli's maximalist imagination as well as his mastery of telling stories regarding fate/destiny. Ben assumes the villain mantle and questions if the film successfully blends violence, comedy and revenge: does it go too far or is Ben just bugging out? Spread your wings in our Discord server. Ep23: Welcome To Bollywood takes a lesser traveled path East through an emerging and gate busting Indian film scene that challenges gate keepers of old. Long a closed and centrally controlled circle, the seeds of international recognition and acclaim are being sown by releases like Tumbbad and Eega, escaping an insular film industry to reach wider audience exposure, for which the film loving world is richer and Speak All Evil is but a fly on the wall.

On this special patron-mandated episode of We Just Watched, our hosts greatly enjoy a Hindi-language film about a fly attempting to murder a grown man. Seriously, go watch this film!
¡Resident Evil tendrá una serie de Netflix!. ¿Vieron la descripción de "Eega"? ¡Nosotros vimos la película y la comentamos aquí! Además de hablar sobre efectos especiales que increíblemente no fueron digitales.
Eega is a Telugu language romantic comedy about a man who is reincarnated into a fly to protect the woman who loved him. It is fantastic and hilarious, and we gush about it for an hour.
Let Jill and Connor take you by the ears and lead you down a path of Wikipedian intrigue. From the Indian supernatural thriller 'Eega' to the 1930s flop 'She' to the Wizard of Oz, to the Doll Family and finally to midgets, grab an earful!
Episode 25 sees Helen (The Allusionist, Answer Me This) Zaltzman (the first lady of podcasting) and Matthew (Pappy’s) Crosby return for Helen’s choice Eega/Maakhi (The Fly). Badly dubbed mish mash of genres served up Bollywood style. We can only assume the delirium felt by Helen after a traumatic house move affected her decision to revisit this terrible film. The hero of Eega is murdered by a jealous rival and reincarnated as a fly, who then takes revenge to save his love interest. Thats it - for over two hours. Featuring a fly weight lifting and other ridiculous overly long predictable scenarios, unmemorable songs and terrible cgi - not fun for all the family. f you’re after an emotionless mess of crazy fly revenge antics with characters devoid of personality - with songs then this is definitely for you! Scores [supsystic-tables id='25'] Despite Helen Z’s best efforts Helen S still thought this film is terrible - scoring 2.9 - which is fairly good considering. Please send us your scores!
