I know every one of you out there would take on ANY pain your kid has to go through as your own. There is nothing worse for a mom than watching her kid suffer and there is nothing we can do about it. I've been there and I know you have too. That's why I thought it perfect to bring James on as today's guest because 6 years ago he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and our lives…and HIS life…changed forever. I can remember the day clearly and as I sit here thinking about that day, and all of you, I know you can clearly think of a day your own child suffered as you sat there watching and praying to Go that He'd take it away. What if He doesn't? What if He chooses to not heal and our child faces so many unknowns? Can they learn? Can they be strong? Can we learn from them? All of those questions are answered in today's episode as James walks us through what he remembers about his Diabetes Day and as we chat, we are reminded of so many lessons we can learn as moms, and our kids can learn. Were they chosen for “such a time as this”? (As Esther was?) Yes. Yes they were. And you were chosen as the perfect mom for them.I pray today's episode will encourage your heart as you navigate the toughest job you'll ever love. I remember when my fifth child started to babble, and friends said he'd soon be calling me, "Mommy." The other four called me already, so I wasn't anxious for him to talk too. Later, I learned he was autistic spectrum. After that, I felt terrible about wanting him to be quiet. Being a mom is tough and brings lots of conflicting feelings. Sometimes we feel exhausted. Michelle Medlock Adams , who is a mom and author, offered help and encouragement this week.
As we look forward to Mother's Day, our Senior Pastor's wife Yodit Brooks is joined by Anna Morales, Stephanie Writebol, and Maggie Dunn, founder of House of Providence, for a special edition of The Link dedicated to motherhood. Whether you're a mom, caretaker, or spiritual mother, we know their personal experiences and encouragement will be a blessing to your heart. Another way our Woodside Family is excited to honor moms this Mother's Day is by dedicating our participation in #GivingTuesday to support Right to Life of Michigan and several local pregnancy resource centers. You can make a difference in the lives of moms at Crossroads Care Center by purchasing a gift from the center's Baby Registry. Read alouds aren’t just for our little ones. We can find great encouragement and joy in having the word of God read over us and explained. So in this special episode, Emily and Laura invite John Piper to read and reflect on what he considers to be the greatest chapter in the Bible, Romans 8. As he walks us through this incredible passage, John Piper connects its themes of suffering and loss to motherhood, encouraging us that no matter how deep the waters of our suffering, God’s unshakeable love is deeper still. I know there are countless moms now doing school at home for the rest of the school year due to COVID-19. They didn’t choose this, it was thrust upon them and that can be very, very stressful. Today I’m having a conversation with a friend of mine who happens to be our pastor’s wife and also with our married daughter. They each have 3 kids. I have 8 (almost all grown). We talk about where our hearts are as moms and why that is crucial especially right now, but we also discuss practical tips and ideas on ways to make the most of this time with our kids! Please share this with any moms you know who could use some encouragement!

I'm a mom blogger who talks about all of my perfect imperfections. Motherhood has refined me in ways I never knew was possible. It's forced me to look myself in the mirror & deal with issues I haven't ever had to deal with before. I'm striving to be my best self so these children that God gave me have the best mom I can be. Although it's hard & I often find myself eating chocolate as a self-soother, I'm trying & it's grace that has gotten me here. We'll be interviewing women across the country who have experienced motherhood, infant loss, childhood loss, health victories, family ministry, missions, homeschool, entrepreneurship & so much more. If you'd like to be on the show or have a topic you'd like to us to discuss, please e-mail waynnan@gmail.com & I look forward to hearing from you!You can visit the blog or support the podcast by purchasing a graphic t-shirt here!Support the show (https://www.allgracedup.blog/new-products/)

Honestly? I thought it was a prank. I got an email saying Andy Andrews (I loved his book The Noticer) would like to be on the Inspired To Action podcast and could we arrange it? Um. Yes... He is a New York Times best selling author, he speaks internationally to huge organizations like GE, Coca-Cola, Chickfila and The US Department of Defense. Zig Ziglar said, "Andy Andrews is the best speaker I have ever seen." He is praised by everyone from Paul Harvey, Dave Ramsey, NFL star Kurt Wariner, PGA Hall of Famer Nancy Lopez to Kenny Rogers. And despite all of his success, in today's podcast you'll find him to be warm, wise, humble and filled with a heart to encourage moms as we parent the next generation. Friends, you are in for a treat today. Andy shares some fantastic parenting wisdom, including stories about his own boys, and his inspiring life story. Andy calls parenting the fulcrum of our culture and his new book The Noticer Returns (click here to preorder it now - releases Oct. 1) wraps timeless parenting truths into a story you'll find hard to put down. (Well, if you're like me anyway. I have no self control when it comes to great fiction.) What you'll learn in this podcast: The tragedy that occurred when Andy was only 19 years old. How he spiraled out of control and what (or who) got him on his feel again. Why, as a young man, he read over 200 biographies of great people and how it impacted his life. How moms can have a huge impact on our culture. The "proof of hope" that the best is yet to come for YOU. A tip to help your child make great choices. A Great Deal for Moms Each of Andy's previous books on a massive sale right now on Amazon. The Kindle version of The Noticer is just $2.99 and The Traveler's Gift is only $.99. If you want to grow in character and learn timeless principles, but have a hard time plowing through dry non-fiction books, you'll love Andy's storytelling style. And of course, you can preorder his new book here, or download or listen to a free chapter by clicking here. How to Be on the Podcast I'd love to feature a listener each week on the podcast, so if you have a question (upcoming shows will feature Emily P. Freeman, Liz Griffin (talking about how we as moms can be naptime abolitionists), and I'll be recording a solo session about motherhood and fitness. Click here to record your question (it's easy peasy) so I can include you on the next show!
