Improve Relationships & Parent Better By Using Your Myers-Briggs Personality Type - Sandra Etherington

Remember all those personality tests we used to take in YM, Cosmo, and Seventeen magazine? Well, today, we’re talking about one of the most popular personality tests out on the scene, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.  For those who are unfamiliar, Myers-Briggs is a bit different than an Enneagram test. The enneagram is based on how you deal with trauma, whereas the Myers-Briggs test assesses how you judge and perceive the world.  Based on the psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Carl Jung’s theories, the Myers-Briggs personality test is a robust tool that helps you better understand yourself and how to navigate your relationships, parenting, and even your mental health. In this episode, I talk with Myers Briggs Expert and co-host of Family Personalities podcast, Sandra Etherington, about what the Myers-Briggs personality test is all about, the different dichotomies, and how knowing your Myers-Briggs personality type can help you thrive at home, work, and in life.  It’s not a must, but I do recommend taking the Myers-Briggs personality test at www.truity.com for FREE before listening to this episode. Even better, if you have the resources, talk with a Myers-Briggs expert like Sandra to make sense of yourself and others around you.  Connect with Sandra at:www.familypersonalities.com  www.instagram.com/familypersonalitiesBio: Sandra is a mom of a 5-year-old and an 8-year-old. She is the owner of Family Personalities and the co-host of the Family Personalities podcast, a fun and sometimes cheesy podcast that uses personality type to help change the way you see your family. Sandra uses her experience and training in the Myers-Briggs personality type to work one-on-one with families, helping them parent more effectively and compassionately based on their children's unique wiring and needs.

In 2020, the CDC reported that approximately 1 in 54 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). And the rates are rising higher each year.Autism spectrum disorder impacts not just the life of the child but their family too. Children on the autism spectrum typically require a level of special services or modifications of educational programs. And it's often left to moms to direct these services, pursue a diagnosis, and establish a plan for their developmentally delayed child. Not an easy road to walk by any means. As we close on Autism Awareness Month, a time dedicated to increasing understanding and acceptance of people with autism, I spoke with Hayley Augusta, a mother of a son with autism and hyperlexia. Hayley talks about leaving her dream career and luxe lifestyle in Dubai to care for her son on the autism spectrum and what she wished parents of neurotypical children understood about this disorder. As she shares her experience navigating the autism diagnosis process, Haley also covers the best tools, services, and resources for moms of autistic children to consider.  If you're a parent of a neurotypical child, have a child who is autistic, or curious about a disorder that is becoming more prevalent each year, you need to hear this episode!Connect with Hayley at:https://nosexinthesuburbspodcast.com/IG @nosexinthesuburbshttps://www.facebook.com/nosexinthesuburbsBio: Hayley Augusta is a suburban mom of two.
