Being an Achiever isn’t just about developing your EF Skills; you also need to become the person who is the Achiever, instead of thinking of yourself as the person who is the ADDer.  Saying “I am an Achiever” is the first step to taking on an empowering new Identity, just as saying “I am an ADDer, is a step that reinforces keeping the same old disempowering Identity.     Are you telling yourself stories or reliving your past failed attempts and making that your reality today?  You’re probably not doing this consciously, however, many of us base our current reality on possibilities of what you’ve done in the past.  Statements like, “this is just how I am” or “this doesn’t feel like me” or “I can’t see myself living that way” are common.   The good news? Executive Function skills can be learned, no matter what age you are.  No matter where you are located in the world.  All it takes is the right training, strategies and support.  In this episode Dr B talks about: What can happen when ADHD and under-developed executive function skills are lumped together for diagnosis and treatment Giving a new meaning to ADHD and under-developed executive function skills The importance of celebrating your wins Enrollment opening now for the January 2021 ADDventures in Achievement Foundational Skills program   Developing your Executive Function Skills and shifting your limiting beliefs is the fastest and most effective way to overcome ADHD limitations, find focus, gain confidence, and a newfound freedom in your life!   My mission is to put an end to the worldwide needless suffering of adults with ADHD and those with under-developed Executive Function Skills - whether from ADHD, chronic depression or anxiety, trauma, addictions or chronic illnesses.  And, you don't need a formal diagnosis to know you need help developing these executive function skills in order to greatly reduce your suffering. It's hard to believe we're a little more than a week before the holiday season and that many people already have their Christmas tree up. Many of us look forward to this time of year but many others this time brings on added stress, anxiety and frustrations. This year, with everything going on, there's an added layer of possible disappointment and difficulties. During this holiday season host Sondra Doty want you to know you don't have to throw out a healthy structure or healthy routine because of the added things.  A couple of months ago Sondra had a conversation with today's guest Annie Trimberger and the two of them decided the week before Thanksgiving would be the best time to have Annie join the WTYM podcast. It's definitely an ideal time to help people establish a healthy framework-including health goals and overall life goals-prior to the hustle and bustle of the holidays.  Guest Annie Trimberger is a life and health coach who works with professional women. Her mission is to help her clients step into their greatness by being happier, healthier and wealthier. Annie helps women prioritize health and happiness while they learn to automate healthy habits for hitting goals with joy and ease. Furthermore, she helps them uncover ways to generate the energy, stamina and confidence to bust through the glass ceiling.  In episode 25: Healthy Habits This Holiday Season, Annie talks about the "magic 5". The five things to do when feeling overwhelmed by health or circumstance. 1. Get enough protein; 2. Eat Veggies; 3. Drink Water; 4. Go for a walk; 5. Sleep. And she would add a 6th in there, too: Prayer and meditation. It really can be that simple and that basic. You need ALL of these things daily, anyway.  Action Items & Encouragement:  Annie encourages you to pick two to three anchor actions you can commit to no matter what;.....so, when everything goes out the window, you still have commitments. Sondra and Annie challenge you to do these actions for the next 45 days, so when January is here, they are a part of your normal routine. Also, pick two accountability partners for the next 45 days. That way, when obligations rises, you have people to help remind you of your anchor actions.  We would also like to wish you a happy and healthy holiday season!  Episode Resources:  Follow Annie on Instagram: DM to join the Early Risers Club https://www.instagram.com/annie_thedreamlab/ Website/Information on the Nourish Project: Annie is offering a Black Friday Special. https://www.thedreamlabmpls.com/the-nourish-project   If you love listening to Word To Your Mothers, kindly write a review on your podcast platform or send an email to wordmothers@gmail.com  Don't forget to subscribe/rate/review! Podcasting is more than just talking into a microphone, what happens after you finish recording?     Today on the WPMRR podcast, Joe and Christie talk about running a podcast, how they record, and the technicalities of producing an episode.   Listen now to get ideas on creating your own podcast! Episode Resources:   Start your podcast! Leave us a 5-star review on iTunes Binge on past episodes you missed Check out our website for the latest updates Send your questions to yo@wpmrr.com   What you’ll learn:   [00:00:45] Christie's Update: living alone again in Texas [00:05:06] Joe's Update: new hire for a marketing position, new Youtube channel [00:08:] WPMRR Course update: whole site was moved to a summit page [00:11:19] Tell people how we run our podcast. [00:12:] How WPMRR started: Joe invited Christie to be his co-host through an email, but she ignored it. [00:14:20] Make sure to personalize messages to certain people, important messages. A short Loom video can be included in the email.  [00:15:46] How do we choose topics? Talk about what's going within the week before recording, we look at a Google Doc with notes of the stuff we want to talk about.   [00:16:55] Don't over-plan. WPMRR usually talks about general topics and talks about anything as the episodes go.  [00:18:42] Podcasting can be done like a blog. It can be informal too, almost a 'not prepared' approach. [00:21:12] How do we record the podcast? We are using riverside.fm. Before, we recorded in Zoom, now we use this new tool.  [00:25:10] All we would do is record in zoom, and record our individual audio using quicktime audio, and we would upload the files in Google Drive, and send the files for production. [00:27:25] Podcast gears: Mic, Webcam  [00:36:22] What's important to outline is that those people (with great and expensive gears) built up to that.  [00:38:05] We pay hundreds of dollars for post production, probably more when youtube marketing is added   [00:39:56] We drop the episode in riverside.fm, Bradley and his team picks them up, and one upcoming Tuesday they come out on all podcast players.   [00:42:35] New Thing: We are pushing our podcasts on Youtube. [00:43:55] How we grow and get listeners?  [00:44:26] The really important part is the process is really fun for you.  [00:45:23] Quality content is the more important part, it might take longer if you don't do marketing stuff.  [00:46:31] When I have a guest, one of the questions is "Can you help us promote the episode..."  [00:50:47] There's a thing of putting a great product together and not having anybody listen. If you want to do something to put it out, then do something.  [00:51:20] It takes time, maybe you blow up in a few months if you already have a platform or a huge audience. [00:53:05] How do we improve in podcasting?  [00:53:30] I've gained confidence, I have stopped speaking with a lot of UHMs and AHHs. - Christie [00:54:38] Listen to other things that you like. Getting honest opinions is a great way to improve.  [00:56:35] There's feedback that's really good, that's critical, that helps you grow, and good feedback for the episode.  [00:57:30] Critical feedback is good but you have to decide what to change. Authenticity is important.

[00:15:50] Do folks have a plan if they are hit by a car?  [00:16:30] The Bus Factor is real. It is a huge business risk that takes a lot of humility to work through. [00:18:59] Bus factor risk in business is extremely important to consider, we don't want to create dependency on single people. [00:22:21] For most positions, you should have a junior to you, one that learns what you do.  [00:24:09] The Bus Factor phenomenon [00:26:17] Document everything in a list so handing off of work is a lot easier. Put first things first. The book The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People written by Stephen Covey, is a go-to in the world of self-development books. Habit 3 is to put first things first and what that means is that not doing everything is ok. You need to be clear on when it is ok to say no so that you can focus on your highest priorities. For Gen X women especially this can provide a sense of relief but it’s hard to put it into practice. We’ve been conditioned to the idea that we can do it all. One of the biggest challenges people have with this is knowing what is important to them. So let’s unpack that a bit. Covey says that Habit 3, putting first things first, is really about life management. Being clear on your purpose, values, roles, and priorities. As a follow-up to The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Covey wrote the book First Things First. In it, he talks about how to identify your own north star so that you can use it to align your life against taking steps to get to where you want to go. Your own North Star is what gives you inner peace and happiness.
