If you've ever wondered what FSOTD's host, Blackleaf, considers the absolute standard for curing and storing herb, you'd be a fool not to tap in.Blackleaf is joined in the studio by CVault co-founder, Ryan Parker, and Scott Swail, the North American Key Accounts Manager for Boveda, who's been with the company for 10+ years to discuss all things herbal storage whether that's keeping your head stash at the perfect humidity or controlling the cure and trichome deterioration when moving or selling large quantities of herb or even concentrate. For the uninitiated, CVault is a company specializing in the production of airtight, stainless steel storage containers designed to preserve the freshness and potency of herb and other organic materials. They integrate humidity control technology, often pairing their containers with Boveda packs, to maintain ideal storage conditions. Boveda is a 27+-year-old company that produces precision humidity control packs to maintain the ideal moisture levels for various products, including herb, cigars, and musical instruments. They utilize a patented two-way humidity control technology that adds or absorbs moisture as needed to protect and preserve items. If you've ever wondered about the CVault/Boveda connection, this pod unveils the entire backstory of how these two companies came together. You'll hear Ryan and Scott explain why Boveda's acquisition of CVault was truly a match made in heaven. If there's one thing you'll hear during this episode, it's Blackleaf's undying love and rigorous implementation of CVault's storage technology for all of his cultivation and daily consumption needs. Whether he's storing big packs or carrying around a fresh batch of head stash, he swears by CVault's stainless steel containers in tandem with varying sizes of Boveda packs. Everyone also weighs in heavily on how turkey bags are the absolute worst move for storage, especially when you're stacking, and how undependable glass is for shipping bulk concentrate. This episode truly identifies countless pain points of home growers and commercial growers everywhere, and how proper storage and humidity control play an utterly essential role in the final product. You can't miss the part where Scott address the hearsay that Boveda packs “steal the terps,” and what this actually means. For any true fans of cultivating or even preserving ultra top-shelf herb, you can't miss a second of this episode with two serious pioneers in one of the biggest missteps in the industry—proper curing and storage.Subscribe to our channel and the FSOTD.com site to keep up with other key players and enjoy conversations with tastemakers from the culture you can't find anywhere else. Kenny and Mike are joined by our good friend and regular Faithspotting contributor Dr. Ryan Parker for the annual Oscars preview episode where we predict winners and share our choices for who wins the Oscars. Ryan works in public relations and marketing for independent films, and is also the Executive Director for the Misssissippi Film Society. We agreed that this was a solid year for films and nominations. We were grateful that folks had a reason to get excited again as was experienced in the "Barbenheimer" moment, we also were happy that folks are discussing cinema thoughout various genres. While we agreed on many of the awards, there were a few differences of opinions. Faith Spotted: In addition to picking and justifying winners we also discussed which films most effectively and powerfully reflected faith lived and experienced in life. Subjects included the temptation and corrosive power of evil as experienced at communal and individual levels in the past as well as seems to be recurring now before our eyes and ears. The most significant question that emerges from several of the nominated films is, reminded now of the past sins of commission and omission by society, nations, and faith traditions, how will we respond as individuals and communities of faith? Will we be taken by, or stand against, the tide that seems set to pull many away from the rightsouness God desires as presented in Scripture and the life and ministry of Jesus?

Ready to dive into more tips that will help you make better business decisions for 2023? Tune into this week's episode with a very good friend of mine, Ryan Parker. Ryan Parker is a seasoned commercial real estate professional with extensive experience in financing, leasing, originating, and more. He is the Associate Director of Walker & Dunlop, responsible for originating for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, multifamily value-add, and commercial real estate debt placement. Ryan discusses the unique needs, risks, and difficulties associated with investing in industrial real estate. Specifically, we go into how to get a tenant in, what the market is like coming out of COVID, and Ryan's opinions on how the debt markets will affect conservatism, refinancing, and investor or buyer behavior—plus many more topics that every real estate investor wants to hear in today's uncertain times. KEY TAKEAWAYS 1. One of the most critical factors of industrial real estate investing is the proximity to major transportation thoroughfares. 2. The market is still very liquid; there's a lot of cash in the system for both the investor and capital sides. 3. Avoid making business decisions assuming that rates are returning to historical lows like 2020-2021. 4. At the end of the day, lenders don't want to take deeds back. Consider keeping your returns now and seeing how things go for a few years. As I talk to podcasters, many of them are so close to taking the next step. They simply lack the confidence to believe in themselves. EXCUSES They tell me things like... "I'm 30 days away from launching." "It looks like I am about 90 days from going live with my podcast." "I'm still conducting interviews preparing for my course launch this summer." What is holding you back? I know what you feel. I was in your shoes when launching my podcast. Planning. Learning. Researching. Trying to get it just right. Don't let perfection keep you from launching. Find your confidence. We often let procrastination creep into our lives disguised as "planning" and "researching". We tell ourselves we will launch right after we complete a few more steps on our "to do" list. Here is the problem: The "to do" list keeps growing preventing us from launching. When I was launching, I started with a blog. The blog grew slowly. I finally came to the realization that podcasters would rather listen to podcasts than read. That is when my podcast planning began. I started watching videos on podcasting. Podcasts about podcasting filled my iPhone. Newsletter subscriptions hit my e-mail inbox. Conference tickets were purchased. I even bought books about podcasting. It was a time when I consumed everything I could find. I kept telling myself I was preparing. Truth is, I was just procratinating. THE PUSH Months into my learning and planning stage, Dave Jackson from School of Podcasting reached out. Dave found my blog and wondered why I didn't have a podcast. Dave, don't you understand? I'm planning. I'm researching. I'm learning. Look at all the work I'm doing. Dave wasn't buying it. He had seen this movie before and knew how it ended. During that 90 minute phone call, Dave pushed me. He challenged me. Dave had confidence that I could launch in a week or two. I simply needed to find my own confidence and move. That was the trick. Start with the first step. You've heard it before. Every journey begins with the first step. Your first step may not be in the right direction. However, you make corrections as you go. Eventually, you reach your destination. FIRST STEPS People often ask me how I do I have the confidence to stand and speak in front of 15,000 people. It started with the first step. Speaking in front of 20 people in speech class was tough enough. To earn extra money in college, I began working as a wedding DJ. That job forced me to make announcements to groups of people every weekend. During a wedding, it was my job to introduce the bride and groom. They would have me announce the cake cutting, the first dance, the wedding party dance, the parents dance and usually the bouquet toss. It was also my job to get people dancing. The butterflies would flutter in my stomach every weekend. This was one of the biggest days for the bride. My job had a lot to do with her memories of this day. One day, as I was encouraging the ladies in attendance to gather on the dancefloor for the bouquet toss, I found myself repeating myself multiple times. These ladies were busy chatting with each other. What I was saying was of little interest to them. That's when it hit me. People simply are not as interested in my speaking success and failure as I am. If I mess up while speaking, there is a good chance I will be the only one to remember. People don't care that much. The same is true with your podcast. If you mess it up, few will notice let alone hold it against you. Dave Jackson always uses a quote from Ryan Parker from FoodCraftsmen.com. "Nobody will punch you in the face." JUST START Are you letting self doubt keep you from launching your podcast or next project? Is the Impostor Syndrome holding you back? "Why would anyone care what I have to say?" "What if I fail?" "What if I make a fool of myself?" All of the self doubt is natural. We tend to make more of our mistakes than anyone else.
