Ukraine and Russia look to be heading towards a ceasefire - but it could be messy. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's hinting he'd temporarily cede territory to Russia – if the whole country's extended an invite to NATO. Former UK Defence Attaché in Moscow John Foreman told Mike Hosking both Ukraine and Russia seem to be trying to influence Donald Trump ahead of him taking office – but Trump's kept his cards close to his chest. He says the only clarity we have is from Trump tapping General Kellogg to serve as special envoy – who wants to delay NATO membership, but offer Ukraine security assurances. Former National Security Advisor to both President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg says Israel's tough military response with its enemies “could start to establish some type of long term peace.” Kellogg comments he does not think a two state solution is going to happen in the near future, but reminds listeners it took the United States “11 years to reintegrate the south into the north after our Civil War, and it took us about 11 years to reintegrate both Japan and Germany into the League of Nations after World War Two. So that can be done. So I think there's an opportunity here, as long as we let the Israelis do their job. And what I mean by that is this is when, when, President Biden makes the comment, ‘well, we need to have a proportionate response to the Israelis.' No what you want to have and just what President Trump said, you want to have a disproportionate response. It's what we did with Soleimani with Iran. And what I mean by that, the reason I made a comment, is maybe it is time you either go after the Supreme Leader Khamenei, or you go after his nuclear facilities, and [the Israelis] can do it, be it in Isfahan, or be it Natanz, or be it Fordow. They can actually go hit those sites, take them out, reset the conditions in the Middle East. And maybe, just maybe, now you have a chance with those personalities changing, You have a chance for peace.”See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In 1948, the United States under President Truman became the first country to recognize the existence of Israel. Since then, the two nations have been staunch allies. This alliance is certainly being put to the test with the latest round of fighting between the state of Israel and Hamas, the Islamic group which controls Gaza. What is the legal process for the US to provide aid to Israel? What is the dual role Congress and the President play in helping our ally? To help us answer these questions and more, we are delighted to welcome Lt. General (Ret.) Keith Kellogg. General Kellogg is a retired three-star Army General and was a national security advisor to the Vice President. We are grateful he is sharing his unique expertise with our student panel.

General Keith Kellogg saw it all. The only national security advisor to work side by side with both President Trump and Vice President Pence, he was their confidant as they made their most momentous decisions. No one knows better than he that the hysterical accusations of the administration's partisan detractors were unconnected to reality. Demolishing baseless caricatures of Donald Trump, General Kellogg provides one of the few reliable accounts of the administration from the earliest days of the 2016 campaign to the end of the president's term. Kellogg reveals: How Trump's “America First” policies strengthened the nation after Obama's eight-year apology tour Why the president's tough approach to China worked—and why future administrations must continue to take the China threat seriously How withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal and the strike on General Soleimani slowed the spread of radical Islamist terror Why Democrats' appeasement policies are courting disaster for America and the world Learn more about your ad choices.
