Defense Secretary Operational Security Violations — Colonel Jeff McCausland — McCausland criticizes Secretary of Defense Hegseth for posting inflammatory cartoon imagery depicting weapons deployment against waterborne targets and allegedly leaking classified military strike operational details through unclassified communications channels. McCausland argues that this cavalier operational approach fundamentally endangers American military personnel and contradicts the rigorous discipline and operational security protocols expected from a combat veteran occupying the Department of Defense leadership position. 1902

PREVIEW. Nuclear Testing Remarks and NNSA Budget Cuts. Jeff McCausland discusses the President's ambiguous remarks on nuclear testing, noting the President and Secretary of Defense seem to misunderstand nuclear strategy. Immediate warhead testing is impossible because the responsible agency, NNSA, lacks staff due to budget cuts. A return to testing would ultimately benefit adversaries expanding their arsenal, like Russia and China. 1940 Retry
In this special collaboration, The Women in the Arena Podcast presents Sam & Sarah: Laced Up and Ready, a new series where Sarah Scully and Samantha Sliney dive deep into the issues shaping today's veteran and military family community.Sarah, an Army veteran and founder of The Women in the Arena Podcast, brings a grounded, community-focused perspective on leadership, service, and life after the military.Sam, an attorney, Air Force veteran, current Air National Guard officer, and military spouse, works at the intersection of law, policy, and advocacy in the Department of Defense–State Liaison Office. Her mission is to advance policies that strengthen military families and promote gender equality.Together, Sarah and Sam explore critical topics affecting service members, veterans, and their families, breaking down what's happening, why it matters, and what can be done about it.These episodes bring facts, the hosts' informed opinions, and compelling calls to action, sparking conversations that move the community forward. In this episode, Sam and Sarah unpack recent actions by the Secretary of Defense, including the elimination of the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services (DACOWITS) - a decision that has raised serious questions about representation, accountability, and the future of gender equity within the Department of Defense. They explore what DACOWITS accomplished throughout its decades-long history, why its dissolution matters, and how it may affect ongoing efforts to ensure equal opportunity for those in uniform. The conversation also takes a closer look at the language currently shaping discussions around gender, standards, and service, and why certain narratives can become dangerous when they shift from dialogue to division. Sam and Sarah discuss the broader implications of these shifts, not as a critique of any one leader or administration, but as an open, informed conversation about impact, perspective, and the need for balance in shaping future defense policy.Ultimately, this episode brings together facts, the hosts' perspectives, and compelling calls to action, encouraging listeners to stay engaged, informed, and ready to advocate for a stronger, more inclusive military community.

Robert Gates has worked at the highest levels of government, across eight presidential administrations, earning a reputation for pragmatism and integrity that feels increasingly rare in today’s political climate. In this thoughtful conversation with Katie, the former Defense Secretary reflects on the global crises now testing U.S. leadership—from the war in Ukraine to rising threats in the Middle East—and explains why diplomacy, consistency, and bipartisan cooperation are more essential than ever. As America grapples with a fractured political identity, Gates makes a compelling case for restoring experience and long-term thinking to our foreign policy playbook.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Happy 4th of July! In today's classic episode of 'Will Cain Country,' Will shares a deep conversation with his good friend, former 'Fox & Friends Weekend' co-host, and current Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth. Yes, the same Pete Hegseth who Jon Stewart called one of the most sexually attractive men in news. From laughs to serious ground, Will and Pete cover the launch of the Texas Stock Exchange, but the centerpiece of the discussion is Pete's book, The War on Warriors. He argues that the U.S. military, once America's most meritocratic institution, is being hollowed out by DEI mandates, CRT dogma, and political careerism. Pete shares raw, real stories from active-duty service members and calls out leadership by name, including General Mark Milley. They close with the big questions: Can Trump fix this in a second term? Should we bring back the draft? And what's the greatest threat to America today? (Spoiler: it's not China.) Do you think we have some of those answers today? This is a conversation that hits hard and shows why President Donald Trump tapped Pete as Secretary of Defense. In this week's Main Justice episode, hosts Andrew Weissmann and Mary McCord explore a disturbing pattern of the Trump administration's attack on lawyers and what it means for the rule of law, as firings and demotions continue to reverberate around the federal government. They examine the firing of the three top nonpartisan military JAG lawyers without cause— and why Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth referred to these officers as ‘roadblocks'. They look at Trump's decision to revoke security clearances from a law firm with ties to former Special Counsel Jack Smith. And they update a few cases on their radar, to include the firing of Hampton Dellinger as well as the latest in the case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams. And before closing, Andrew and Mary zoom out to look at how the Trump administration is redefining the US's role in world, after voting against a UN resolution that condemned Russian aggression in Ukraine, ignoring violations of international law.Further reading: Here is the latest statement from the ABA that Andrew spoke about: The ABA rejects efforts to undermine the courts and the legal profession. And soonest, we'll add a link here to the letter Andrew and Mary talked about in this episode: A Statement of Conscience and Principle By Those Who Have Served as Assistant United States Attorneys For the District of Columbia Over the Past Fifty Years.Want to listen to this show without ads? Summary President-elect Trump's nominee for Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, appears before the Senate Armed Services Committee. Hegseth, a veteran, author and former Fox News host, faced tough questions on his personal and professional record. Jenna breaks down the three key takeaways of this four-hour hearing. Takeaways The Secretary of Defense is a historically significant role. The hearing revealed deep partisan divides in questioning. Hegseth's non-traditional background was acknowledged. Allegations against Hegseth became a focal point for Democrats. Republicans emphasized the military's culture and Hegseth's Christianity. Strategic questions about national security were largely overlooked. The confirmation process is likely to follow party lines. 00:00 The Importance of the Secretary of Defense - Did you know it was known as the Secretary of War? 02:28 Hearing Highlights: Party Lines and Allegations 05:57 - Character and Culture in Military Leadership 07:43 - Oversights in the Hearing 8:59 - Next Steps for Pete Hegseth's Nomination SUPPORT OUR MISSION If you'd like to help support SmartHER News' mission of a free, independent, nonpartisan press – here's how you can become a SCOOP insider: https://www.scoop.smarthernews.com/get-the-inside-scoop/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/smarthernews/ Website: https://smarthernews.com/ YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/smarthernews

Off the top, Chris and Christine discuss the shocking news of a Wisconsin Christian school shooting this week. How in the world did a Christian school miss a troubled young woman like this? The Stigall explore why a lack of scrutiny and a "take all comers" policy of Christian schools may be a dangerous mistake. Then, it wasn't too long ago Pete Hegseth was a host on Fox News and had authored a book on his deep concerns about America's education system and how he and his wife have chosen to make aggressive moves in educating their blended family. In some cases, even removing them from certain private Christian education for falling just as short as public education. Now, Hegseth is considered a "highly controversial" pick for President-elect Trump's next Secretary of Defense. While the Stigalls don't debate his qualifications for his appointment, you'll get a good sense of who Hegseth is as a father.Follow Making the Leap on Facebook, Instagram, X, and YouTube. On Thursday's Mark Levin's Show, WMAL's Larry O'Connor fills in for Mark tonight, and he discusses how John Thune's office should bend over backwards to help President Trump to lock in the best team from his picks as possible. Trump's stunning win is a perfect example of the love that this country has for him and that he is needed. In addition, asylum seekers are a huge problem as the radical left and RINO's have done everything they can to allow asylum them to come into the country without proper vetting. Also, Joni Ernst does not agree with Pete Hegseth being the Secretary Of Defense. She claims that he does not have the experience to be the Secretary Of Defense and considers him to be a bad choice due to his strong support for avoiding women to be in the Military. Lastly, Justice Sonia Sotomayor supports the fact that young children's genders are being scientifically engineered to be the sex they claim to be. She supports pre-pubescent boys and girls in taking chemical hormones that reverse their natural gender development that they were born with. It is insane that she is pushing for this as a Judge who can make critical decisions about this issue and it is outrageous that she is in the position to pass laws on this. SEASON 3 EPISODE 76: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: I'd like to thank the one person doing the most to undermine and derail the Trump transition, and dissipate any momentum he might have. Trump himself. He learned nothing from Matt Gaetz and so Pete Hegseth spends another day "twisting slowly, slowly in the wind." We are now reduced to Hegseth's mother pleading directly on Fox to Trump - staring in the camera as she does so - to continue supporting her idiot child for Secretary of Defense. But when asked if she'll testify on his behalf to the Senate confirmation hearings she refused to commit to it. Amazeballs. What's relevant here is that among the big names mentioned as Plan B is yet another Republican congressman. If he gets the job rather than Hegseth or DeSantis or Ernst, the GOP will have a House margin of one (1) vote - which isn't a margin at all. ALSO: I TOLD YOU SO. Sunday night I suggested not only should Biden pardon Hunter but that he should pardon everybody else he thinks of. Last night Politico reported they're talking about it, but that only the names Adam Schiff, Tony Fauci, and Liz Cheney came up. And in case like me you thought Chris Cillizza and Chuck Todd were the same person, have I got a shock for you. B-Block (33:43) SPECIAL COMMENT NO. 2 - I have been pondering when we started on the road to Trump - or at least when we discovered that what should be the final guardrail to protect American democracy, the President himself, wasn't a guardrail at all. I've settled on January 19, 2009 and read you what I wrote and said that night and even what sounds awfully like a prediction of the advent of Trump Brand Stupid Fascism. C-Block (52:00) IN SPORTS: Have you heard about it? The worst sports idea of all-time? "The Golden At Bat" as proposed by Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred. It is a gimmick as stupid as if you stopped the 7th Game of the NBA Finals and had the title decided by a free-throw shooting contest. SERIES 3 EPISODE 71: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: Trump has started down the path to purges of the military, political prosecutions and show trials. His fascists have actually leaked plans to court-martial and even seek treason charges against army leadership and even retired generals. NBC News reports: "“The Trump transition team is compiling a list of senior current and former U.S. military officers who were directly involved in the withdrawal from Afghanistan and exploring whether they could be court-martialed for their involvement, according to a U.S. official and a person familiar with the plan. Officials working on the transition are considering creating a commission to investigate the 2021 withdrawal… and whether the military leaders could be eligible for charges as serious as treason… “They're taking it very seriously,” the person with knowledge of the plan said." Thus, President Biden has to proactively pardon ALL of them. In point of fact, President Biden must now assemble a list of thousands of people to pardon – in the military – in the Democratic party – in state and local governments – in election supervision - in the media – in the protest movements – in the climate movement – people in any of the fields this psychopath Trump thinks wronged him and against which he is not only plotting retribution but now actively PLANNING it. Hegseth, already facing an unlikely confirmation due to, you know, Crusader Tats, has now been revealed to have paid off a woman after a sexual assault allegation in 2017. Trump may throw him under a bus but he's reportedly doubled down on Matt Gaetz at DOJ: “Trump wants Gaetz confirmed ‘100%' a source told CNN. ‘He is not going to back off. He's all in'” This figures to turn on whether or not Trump and the majority of Republican Senators who will not vote for Gaetz meet in the middle - and the middle is a Recess Appointment (and a dictatorship). So, back to my earlier point about Pardons. B-Block (23:30) SPECIAL COMMENT 2: There IS much to do, no matter how January 20th and the days thereafter play out. You want some practical advice? A little spiritual inspiration? St. Hubbins Day if not St. Crispin's Day? Got half an hour? Cause I have half an hour of advice. C-Block (56:0) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: Haven't done these in awhile but somebody was asking about our election night and special political coverage at MSNBC in 2004-06-08-10 and I flashed back to the continuing adventure that was Chris Matthews - particularly how he began ogling a prominent woman in the church at a presidential funeral and I was assigned to get him to stop.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Charles C. W. Cooke, senior writer at National Review and host of The Charles C. W. Cooke Podcast: A Show About Politics, Music, Technology, Rollercoasters, Golf Carts, and the United States of America, joined The Guy Benson Show today to discuss why he is cautiously optimistic about the incoming Trump administration after voters overwhelmingly rejected Kamala Harris' campaign, which Cooke deemed was poorly run. Cooke criticized Harris' campaign as an "expression of arrogance" and noted that Trump "outworked" Harris and Tim Walz on the road. He also agreed with Guy that it's absurd for some states to take weeks to count votes and weighed in on Trump's "controversial" pick of Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense, whom Cook defends.
