THINK YOU KNOW CELEBS? Take The Spill's Pop Culture Quiz here.A major international press tour just kicked off with a comically polite red carpet appearance, but it’s a bombshell headline that has set the internet on fire. While the rest of the media ran with rumours, this outlet went all out and seemingly confirmed that one of Hollywood’s most beloved power couples Zendaya and Tom Holland has secretly tied the knot.Plus a massive, star-studded casting announcement for the upcoming season of our favourite cosy streaming mystery series has left the internet absolutely reeling. With an unbelievable lineup of British and Irish icons joining the call sheet, the budget for this production must be completely out of control. Finally, Gracie Abrams has just dropped a raw, in-depth profile ahead of her highly anticipated third studio album, and she’s addressing her love life head-on. She reveals a deeply relatable insecurity about being in a stable, happy relationship with one of the internet's favourite leading men Paul Mescal, admitting she was terrified that being secure would completely destroy her drive to write music.Remember The Spill drops the tea twice a day in this feed so follow us for all the latest entertainment news OR you can WATCH our show in full length video on the Apple Podcast app - make sure your phone is up to date and enjoy the watch! After four years of non-stop touring, Gracie Abrams didn't expect that new music would come to her so quickly, but she is coming back with the new album Daughter From Hell, out July 17, and is Vogue's June cover star. “You don't realize how your nervous system is kind of like running until you stop,” says Abrams as she discusses her latest album and cover shoot with Senior Features Editor Marley Marius and Global Director of Social Media Samantha Sussman on Vogue's The Run Through Podcast.“So, I had no plans in this case to jump in as quickly as we ended up doing it. But my collaborator, producer, and dear friend Aaron Dessner, who I've worked with for six years now… he has superpowers,' says Abrams. “And whenever we're in the same room, even if I do feel like silent to my core, whenever he starts playing something, it sparks my imagination.” While working on the album at Electric Lady Studios in New York, Abrams says the first single ‘Hit the Wall' came to her through intervention from a spirit. “I was a little bit late to the studio, which I'm very prompt and I was kind of having, just like an emotionally confused morning” says Abrams. “Do you know when you sometimes wake up and you feel as if you're being haunted by a spirit? Or like a relative who's no longer [alive] … Do you ever feel the energy as if someone's got their hands on your shoulders? Do you ever feel like you're wearing a little cape on your shoulders?” asks Abrams. “I kind of just felt like weighed down when I was walking to the studio and I started tearing up. And it was at this period where I wasn't crying very much. And I was like, ‘Something's blocking me, like what is going on?'” Abrams says once she heard a loop of what would later become Hit the Wall, all the pieces started coming together. “I very quickly felt like the sound exactly matched that hands-on-shoulders-cape feeling … And it was a nice place to put all of these, not like self-deprecating thoughts, but just all of the dark cloud energy into one place. And then when I was done with it, it made me feel like a teenager again, where I would write something and then … yield.” Also on today's episode, Chloe sits down with Marley and Samantha to discuss the news from over the weekend including the Tony wins and Dua Lipa's Italian wedding. They also talk about the American Style shoot that is part of the summer issue and listen to voice memos from two enthusiastic finalists. The Run-Through with Vogue is your go-to podcast where fashion meets culture. A staple of the folk-rock genre, few people wouldn't recognise the name or work of Mumford & Sons. Following only a year after the release of their fifth studio album, Rushmere, was their sixth album Prizefighter, released in February this year. The album was recorded in ten days at producer Aaron Dessner's studio in New York, and now they're taking it around the world – bringing it to New Zealand's shores as well. They're performing tonight at Auckland's Spark Arena, and compared to the more intimate, slightly introspective shows the band has done in the past, this one is set to be a bit more exciting. “This is the beginning of a major bout of like, quite a few months of touring for us with a whole new production, a new album, and we're quite ambitious for the whole thing,” Keyboardist and vocalist Ben Lovett told Jack Tame. “It's our 6th album, so we're quite like, in a spirit of let's like, leave it all on the floor, let's bring all the new songs out, let's give it a whole new visual aesthetic.” “It's quite exciting really.” Despite only being a year apart in release dates, Rushmere and Prizefighter are quite different records – Rushmere being more introspective and internal, while Prizefighter is more expansive, featuring collaborations with artists like Chris Stapleton and Hozier. “When we talked about getting back together, I think our desire was to make a record that felt like you were kind of pulling the curtain back and just hearing a band in a room together,” Ted Dwane, who does vocals, bass, and guitar for the band, told Tame. “So with Dave Cobb we made Rushmere, and kind of, I think, kind of completed that thought.” And it was Rushmere's release that threw the band's creative doors wide open, answering any questions about where the band was at musically and whether the audience would be along for the ride. “And I think just internally between us, it was an incredibly freeing feeling, y'know, just the feeling of making Prizefighter,” Dawson said. “It felt like the backlog was cleared and we were flowing again.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Join Here: https://ow.ly/msoH50WCu0KAnalytic Dreamz delivers a detailed breakdown of Noah Kahan's fourth studio album, The Great Divide, released on April 24, 2026. This 17-track project continues the folk-pop and Americana sound established on the 2022 breakthrough album Stick Season while introducing new elements including increased piano presence and rock-pop detours, most notably on “American Cars.”The album explores deep themes of family trauma, sobriety, mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, and body dysmorphia, identity, hometown disconnect, and the tension between fame and personal authenticity. Unlike Stick Season, The Great Divide expands beyond Kahan's personal perspective to incorporate multiple viewpoints, anchored by the recurring motif of small-town life versus global success. Key tracks include the lead single “The Great Divide,” which addresses fear, mortality, and existential reflection, alongside “Doors,” “Paid Time Off,” “Dan,” “23,” “Deny Deny Deny,” “Porch Light,” “Dashboard,” and “Haircut.”Production credits feature Gabe Simon and Aaron Dessner, with recording sessions held in Nashville and Upstate New York. The project is positioned as a direct successor to Stick Season rather than a radical reinvention, praised for its strong songwriting and emotional depth while drawing comparisons to Taylor Swift's pop structures, Don Henley's tone, Bon Iver, Zach Bryan, and Mumford & Sons.Analytic Dreamz examines the accompanying documentary Noah Kahan: Out of Body, which provides additional context on Kahan's mental health struggles, writer's block, and personal philosophy of confronting rather than curing his challenges. The segment also covers the 2026 The Great Divide Tour, a North American arena and stadium run launching June 11 in Orlando and concluding August 31 in Seattle, with multiple sold-out dates including a four-night Boston residency at Fenway Park.Ticket demand has driven high pricing, with resale values reaching up to $13,198 in Boston, while base tickets start around $220. Analytic Dreamz analyzes how this project represents Noah Kahan's transition into a stadium-level headliner while maintaining his “regular-guy” relatability and authentic storytelling. This segment provides comprehensive insight into the album's thematic ambition, commercial momentum, and cultural positioning as a key 2026 release in folk-pop and Americana. Mumford & Sons' Marcus Mumford and Ben Lovett talk about the writing of the band's latest record, Prizefighter. The pair reflect on working with producer Aaron Dessner, the trust required to take creative risks as a band, and how collaborations with the likes of Hozier, Gracie Abrams, Chris Stapleton and Justin Vernon shaped the final record.
We asked, you answered, we analyzed…'Hoax'! This song, which serves as the closing track of the original version of ‘folklore', is…confusing. But not just for us, not just for you, but also for its writer, Taylor Swift herself. She admitted to the song being a mosaic of shattered feelings about multiple people and situations, and Aaron Dessner (king) encouraged her to keep with the track and release it, despite its messy nature. But honestly, what the hell is she talking about in this song? In this episode, Olivia & Dani do their best to break down the iconic closer, lyric by lyric, to see if they can find a through line in this beautiful piece of work. In this episode, John is joined by Mumford & Sons and producer Aaron Dessner to discuss how they wrote, recorded and produced the album ‘Prizefighter'. Mumford & Sons are a British folk-rock band made up of Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett and Ted Dwane, who rose to global fame with their banjo-driven folk rock, earning BRIT and Grammy success with the records ‘Sigh No More' and ‘Babel'. Their latest album, ‘Prizefighter', was co-written and co-produced with Aaron Dessner, and features collaborations with Hozier, Gracie Abrams, Gigi Perez and Chris Stapleton, with the band embracing a new creative freedom in the process. Sitting down with Marcus at his Scarlet Pimpernel studio, John and the band discuss how the album unexpectedly grew out of collaboration, and how the process left them feeling more creatively free than ever. They also dig into why the right mic isn't always the most expensive one, Aaron's techniques for recording guitars, how they created the album's distinctive synth sounds and much more! When it comes to Mumford & Sons' new Prizefighter album, “I think this is the best music we've ever made,” Marcus Mumford declares to the Billboard Pop Shop Podcast. “I love it more than anything we've ever done.” Prizefighter is the band's sixth full-length studio effort and comes less than a year after its last set, March 2025's Rushmere. That's a fast turnaround for a group that historically has gone between two-and-a-half to six years between albums — but it was a chance meeting with writer/musician/producer Aaron Dessner that sparked the shortest wait between albums. "Your faithless love's the only hoax I believe in." This week, we're deep diving "hoax" from folklore (2020), written by Taylor Swift and Aaron Dessner. As a continuation of last week's Wuthering Heights episode, we go line by line through one of Taylor's most quietly devastating songs. We unpack the definition of "hoax" itself—humorous or malicious?—and find that the answer might be both. Along the way, we debate who's holding the twisted knife, trace religious undertones from the Lord's Prayer through "faithless love," connect Robert Burns and Of Mice and Men to Taylor's "best laid plan," and sit with the devastating wordplay of "my broken drum, you have beaten my heart." This is a song about betrayal by someone who knew exactly where it would hurt most—and the confusing, adult reality of choosing to stay anyway. Join Here: https://ow.ly/msoH50WCu0K In the Notorious Mass Effect segment, Analytic Dreamz explores Noah Kahan's highly anticipated return with the new single "The Great Divide", released January 30, 2026, as the lead track and title song for his fourth studio album of the same name, arriving April 24, 2026.Following the massive success of Stick Season (2022)—which spawned viral hits, expanded editions in 2023, a Best New Artist Grammy nomination in 2024, and stadium-level touring—the 29-year-old Vermont native delivers his first new music in over a year. "The Great Divide" delves into emotional distance from rapid fame, reflecting on the gap between past and present self, strained ties with hometown friends and family, unsaid words, and unresolved conversations among those who grew up together but drifted apart. The narrative-driven music video—Kahan's first heavily story-focused—co-produced with Mastercard, premieres during the brand's commercial slot in the 2026 Grammy Awards broadcast (Sunday, February 1, 8:00 p.m. ET on CBS/Paramount+). Shot at a single gas station, it uses aging characters to symbolize evolving friendships, group conflicts, time's passage, and growing isolation. Full video streams at priceless.com/noahkahan, with a Mastercard sweepstakes launching post-premiere for Easter egg hunts, offering prizes like listening parties and Priceless Experiences.Recorded across Nashville (piano), Guilford VT (pond-side), Upstate NY (legendary studio), and Only, TN (farm with firetower), the album reunites Kahan with Stick Season producer Gabe Simon and adds Aaron Dessner. Themes center on childhood reflection, family, old friends, Vermont roots, regret, personal growth, and fame's isolating effects—described by Kahan as "the words I would say if I could" and "the fears I dance with before I drift off to sleep."Teased via TikTok's "The Last of the Bugs" account (nodding to "Everywhere, Everything" lyrics) since December 2025, with snippets of "The Great Divide" and possible "Porch Light." An upcoming documentary from Live Nation Productions, Federal Films, Polygram Entertainment, and RadicalMedia traces his arc from Busyhead and I Was / I Am to post-Stick Season stardom.Analytic Dreamz breaks down why this marks Kahan's cinematic, introspective next chapter, amplified by Grammy visibility, brand partnership, and fan-driven momentum—solidifying his shift to album-driven storytelling.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/analytic-dreamz-notorious-mass-effect/donationsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

In celebration of Sharon Van Etten's breakthrough third album, Tramp, we take a detailed look at how it was made. Growing up in New Jersey, Sharon Van Etten studied music by learning several instruments and singing in the choir. After graduating high school, she went to Middle Tennessee State University to study recording. Though she started writing songs around the year 2000, she didn't perform or release music until 2005 when she moved back to New Jersey. Later she moved to New York and started working for Ba Da Bing Records. She signed to the Language of Stone label and released her debut album, Because I Was in Love in 2009. Her next record, Epic, was released in 2010 and included the song “Love More,” which was recorded for the Shaking Through documentary series. After a group of musicians, including Aaron Dessner of The National and Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, covered the song “Love More,” Sharon reached out to them to see if they'd be interested in collaborating. She began recording songs with Aaron Dessner in his garage studio in Brooklyn. Her third album, Tramp, was eventually released in 2012. In this episode, Sharon Van Etten describes this pivotal moment in her career when she was gaining confidence as an artist and learning how to collaborate with other musicians. She talks about how Aaron Dessner's garage studio offered a her a place of refuge during a time when she was living between sublets and keeping her belongings in her car. In the garage studio, they were able to spend the course of a year building up her songs from minimal demos into fully fleshed out arrangements. Aaron Dessner describes his first time producing for another artist and how he was immediately struck by Sharon's voice and musical mind. He talks about the music culture in Brooklyn at the time where he would be able to call in friends and collaborators to come over and record whenever they had time. This allowed them to have a community of voices, string arrangements and a full band sound for the record, which was new for Sharon's music at the time. From touring with The National, to excavating songs from a hard drive, to bringing in friends like Bryan Devendorf, Zach Condon, Jenn Wasner, Julianna Barwick, Matt Barrick and more, to learning to deal with anxiety and crowds, to taking inspiration from Patti Smith's Just Kids, to a turning point moment for both Sharon as an artist and Aaron as a producer, we'll hear the stories around how the record came together.

On the next World Cafe, Hamilton Leithauser joins us from his Brooklyn studio to discuss his latest solo album, This Side of the Island. On this week's Talkhouse Podcast, we've got a guy from that band you like in conversation with Saturday Night Live's Donald Trump specialist. It's Hamilton Leithauser and James Austin Johnson. Leithauser was-slash-is the voice behind the Walkmen, the indie-rock band that burned bright from 2000 until 2013, at which point they splintered and Leithauser embarked on a solo career and some excellent soundtrack work. Last time he was on this show he was in conversation with Ethan Hawke, with whom he worked on Hawke's Paul Newman documentary; this time around, he's got a long-in-the-works solo album to promote. This Side of the Island came out earlier this year, though it probably would have come out sooner if Leithauser didn't take a break to reunite with the Walkmen for some big shows. It's typically excellent, and a bit more slinky than his past couple. It was produced by The National's Aaron Dessner and he's just finishing up a tour with Father John Misty. For Leithauser's latest video, he roped in comedian James Austin Johnson to play his sorta-stalker / impersonator at the legendary Carlyle Hotel in New York. Check out the video right here, it's called "What do I Think?" If you don't recognize James Austin Johnson's name, you'll recognize his incredible impression of Donald Trump, which he's been doing on Saturday Night Live for the past couple of seasons. Now there have been many Trump impressions over the years, but nobody has quite captured the manic free-association in the way that Johnson has. With SNL off for the summer, Johnson is out doing comedy on the road, where you can catch him over the next few weeks before he returns to his main gig. In this fun chat, Johnson and Leithauser talk about SNL's schedule, about drinking wine on stage, about recording fake sounds versus real ones, and about a guy they're both a little obsessed with: Bob Dylan. Oh, and Trump, but just a little bit. Enjoy. Thanks for listening to the Talkhouse Podcast, and thanks to James Austin Johnson and Hamilton Leithauser for chatting. BEST OF: The 2024 MTV VMA was another example of a powerful religious-cult operating through entertainment to influence society. Taylor Swift was awarded Video of the Year, Sabrina Carpenter won Song of the Year, Katy Perry won the Vanguard Award and performed a gravity defying song, and Megan Thee Stallion performed Mamushi with Yuki Chiba. Swift has stayed in the news for her endorsement of Kamala Harris, and when winning her aware she thanked her boyfriend Travis Kelce who may also now be encouraged to endorse Harris - recall other were involved with ERAS-ERIS, the goddess of discord. But Taylor Swift isn't as powerful as she may seem, certainly not to make her own decisions. Not only has she called out the Soros family for stripping her of music rights but most of her music itself is written by someone else. Jack Antonoff was behind ‘Look What You Made Me Do', and countless other songs not to mention his work with Lana Del Rey, Aaron Dessner was behind Willow, and countless other songs, and both Max Martin and his protege Shellback contribute heavily to her discography. People like Martin have been operating in the music industry for decades, writing dozens of hits - 26 Number One hits - for everyone from the Backstreet Boys and Brittany Spears (Hit Me Baby One More Time), to Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift. Further, he obtains the lyrics and beats through a sort of channeling. Even Elton John does this through mixing word cutouts to write songs. In the world of comics we find an equivalent character in Alan Moore, a magician behind iconic works like V For Vendetta and Watchmen. Moore is also open about his worship of a Greco-Roman snake god named Glycon, a deity of oracle and moneymaking. The difference between obtaining influence from the MUSES or power from unconscious DEMONS is what the byproduct of the contract is: beauty or ugliness. The song Mamushi features the profaning of and degrading not of America but of Japan, as Thee Stallion encourages Japanese girls to be promiscuous and lure men to their death. In the song, Megan literally is naked on a rock like a Siren, in a sacred Onsen, where she then pollutes the purifying water and transforms into a Mamushi snake to kill a man. A 2023 song by Sabrina Carpenter was filmed in a church and her video was so perverse and disgusting the priests had to re-bless the altar when she left. These images are far different than the music, sculptures, and paintings of artists throughout history. Perry's VMA performance featured the arch of hysteria from witchcraft, a portal, and we assume from the other side came an alien who Sabrina Carpenter kissed on television. *The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. Gracie Abrams is a singer and songwriter from Los Angeles. She started putting out music in 2020, and in June 2024, she put out her second album, The Secret of Us. She was nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist, and this year she's up for another Grammy, for Best Duo Performance, for her collaboration with Taylor Swift. But for this episode, I talked to Gracie about her song “I Love You, I'm Sorry.” It was produced by Aaron Dessner, at Long Pond Studio in upstate New York, and it was co-written with Audrey Hobert.Coming up, you'll hear the isolated tracks from the studio recording, but you'll also get to hear a lot of the voice memos that Gracie recorded during the writing process. I think it's so nice to have these raw moments documented because, as you'll hear, they give you an insight not just into the song, but into the relationship that Gracie and her co-writer Audrey have as friends. For more, visit songexploder.net/gracie-abrams.

In this episode of the Long Live Taylor podcast, hosts Kaylan and Leanna discuss Taylor Swift's song The Albatross, delving into its depth and connections with Samuel Taylor Coleridge's 'The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner.' They explore the song's poetic elements, symbolic connections, and how Swift may view herself as the albatross, a figure laden with burdens and misunderstood intentions. They also engage in a spirited conversation on the differences in production styles between Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner, and analyze how these contribute to the overarching themes in Taylor Swift's music. Along the way, they also discuss the dynamics of Taylor's past relationships and the public's perception of her, bringing in elements of mythological references and personal reflection in Swift's artistry. Secretly Society presents a three-episode mini-series about collaboration, friendship, and a community-driven project; originally formed by Justin Vernon and Aaron Dessner in 2008, this is the magical and illusive tale of Big Red Machine. This series is narrated by music writer and broadcaster Laura Barton, including live interviews with Vernon, Aaron Dessner, Bryce Dessner, Sharon Van Etten, Anais Mitchell, and more. The conclusion to the story, for now. Big Red Machine has been a rejection of the music industry's expectations weighing upon Dessner and Vernon, but also a place of solace for the pair amongst their sometimes painful struggles with mental health. The pair take turns grounding each other through their successes and supporting during their lows, while writing songs like “Brycie” and “Hutch” that pay tribute to close-knit family and friends. The pool of collaborators ripples out ever-further, and new methods of working to complement each others' contributions carry on the experimental spirit of Big Red Machine. Today we have part two of our run of interviews with The National in celebration of their new album, First Two Pages of Frankenstein. Last week Broken Producer producer Leah Rose talked to guitarist and composer Aaron Dessner, and today Leah picks up the conversation with the band's lead singer, Matt Berninger. Matt, whose fear and anxiety are often on full display in his songwriting, talks about overcoming a debilitating bout of depression in the period before he started writing songs for the new album. He also explains how the combination of weed and iced tea help him spark creativity. And why he hopes his songwriting impresses Phoebe Bridgers and Taylor Swift.
