#. 331 In the finale of The Great Man Within podcast, I give you my most vulnerable gift: An intense 85-minute audio recording of me and my coach (David Waldas) during one of the most raw and exposed moments of my life: Friday, December 23rd, 2022 (just 3 days before this episode aired). I open up about a terrifying panic attack, fear of death, feelings of despair about my health situation and a humbling admission of how far I feel right now from the “greatness” I've set out to achieve. You're getting the 100% unfiltered and unprecedented fly-on-the-wall access to the deepest parts of me… …because this recording was never meant to be shared publicly (David records all of our coaching sessions). But something tells me this look into my life, will make a meaningful difference in at least one of yours. It's my most special, vulnerable, and final gift to you… …as we bring to an end, The Great Man Within Podcast. -DQ To Stay Connected to the Community and Dominick: Get free daily texts on Purpose, Personal Leadership & Masculinity Click Here (once you click the link, press “send” to text the keyword to me to get the daily texts) Follow Dominick on Instagram: @DominickQ To Email Me: Dominick@DominickQ.com Join the Facebook Group for Men: https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheGreatManWithin ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Great Man Within Spotify Playlists Our Top 10 Most Downloaded Episodes of All Time Our Top 6 Most Downloaded Episodes of 2021 Our Top 10 Most Downloaded Masculinity Episodes The “New Listeners Start Here” Playlist Great Man Within Episodes for Women Bryan's Favorite Episodes ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- David Waldas Website: https://davidaronwaldas.com/

Today we are talking about Building Your Wolfpack. In the Great Man Within community, we have a mantra: stop lone wolfing your life. The Lone Wolf is the man going through life mentally, emotionally and spiritually on his own. Lone wolves starve. Men thrive when in community with other men. And when you embark upon this personal development journey, you may find the types of men you're currently surrounded by can't quite support or understand where you're trying to go. That can cause tension in your existing relationships. If you're experiencing that friction already, you're not alone. To highlight this, I ran a poll on my Instagram account this past week where I asked 4 questions (150 responses): #1. Did your personal development journey strengthen your relationship with existing friends or cause tension? 44% strengthened 56% caused tension #2. When you began your journey, did you have a friend also working on that, or did you go at it solo? 27% friend 73% solo #3. Did you feel supported by or resistance from your friends? 48% supported 52% resistance #4. Did you end up saying goodbye to old friendships? 83% yes 17% no So, the bottom line is, as you grow, and as your priorities change it can cause friction with your existing relationships…AND it represents a powerful opportunity to consciously create the pack of men you want to surround yourself with now and into the future. Joining Bryan and I for today's discussion is our special guest Jay Washington. Jay is one of the most visible, vocal and influential men in our Great Man Within Communities. He's in two of the masterminds, and appeared on episode #210 of the podcast Uncomfortable Conversations with Black Men. In this Episode: 3 signs you may have outgrown your friend group 3 questions to ask about the type of wolfpack you want to build 3 qualities I look for in the types of men I bring into my life
Menstrual Cycle Awareness (MCA) is life and world-changing for everyone, whether you have a cycle or not. In today's episode, we explore this with Dominick Quartuccio and Bryan Stacey, the hosts of The Great Man Within podcast. They're a breath of fresh air in a world which can feel full of toxic masculinity. Brave and vulnerable in their desire to break new ground for men and masculinity, they've interviewed Red School's co-founders Alexandra and Sjanie not once, but TWICE. The first interview “A Man's Guide to the Menstrual Cycle", has since become their most downloaded episode ever! We explore:Innovative, sensitive, simple ways to introduce cycle awareness to your male partner, colleagues, family members or friends, and how to enlist their support to ‘drop your bundle' in inner winter (menstruation) by giving them a way to ‘be a hero'. How cycle awareness provides a ‘surfboard' to ride the relationship waves that can happen in inner autumn (premenstruum), and how to bring your truth-speaker in a way that can actually be received. How to have period sex with a male partner, to move through taboos around blood, and cultivate sexual intimacy during menstruation so you can enter the “Holy Grail” together. ---Registration is open for our 2022 Menstruality Leadership Programme. #268 The Article: 10 Questions Every Man Must Ask About His Life Join the Facebook Group for Men: https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheGreatManWithin --------------------------------------- There comes a time in a man's life – usually at 1:30am on a Sunday night when you're trying to sleep – when you start to ask yourself the deeper questions about life, such as: “Who am I?” “What the hell am I doing with my life?” “How many more streaming services before I feel complete?” These are big questions, well, the first two were at least, and they can be nearly impossible to navigate on your own. You see, the quality of your life often depends on the quality of questions you ask. That's particularly true of the quality of questions you ask as you inspect your own life. As we're already in the final 90 days of 2021, you may find yourself asking deeper questions about how you showed up this year, how you want to finish this year, and how you want to kickstart 2022. So to help you do that, the final 13 episodes of 2021 are all organized and tightly focused around one central theme: Stepping Into Your Great Man in 2022. That means we'll be honing in on: How to design the next year of your life How to design the optimal day How to execute on the complex and meaningful changes in your life The books you need to read in 2022 How to build a life that feels adventurous, meaningful and full of forward momentum These are just a few of the topics you can expect over the final 90 days of this year. This episode kickstarts our 90 day march towards the finish line of 2021: 5 Questions Every Man Must Ask About His Life. By the way, these questions have been sourced by the men in The Great Man Within community…there's 10 of them actually. And the big dawg Bryan Stacy and I are going to get you started with the first 5 questions. The other 5 are linked in the show notes with the article titled: 10 Questions Every Man Must Ask About His Life. This article is a great piece for you to share with the men in your life who are starting to ask different questions about their life…but are hesitant or unsure about taking action yet. It's written in plain English so the mainstream man can digest it. And again, that's linked in the shownotes.
Walk with DeCo: A physical & spiritual journey in the face of adversity.
I want to be upfront and honest about one thing...doing this episode was for me. It was something I felt that I needed and wanted to do. I wanted to document and preserve my journey over the last 20 years of dealing with Trauma and PTSD since 9/11. Hopefully you can get something out of listening to my story. I hope it can be medicine for others, for people still processing things from that day, or dealing with any other types of trauma.I'm so thankful to have my best friend of 35+ years, Dominick Quartuccio, guide me on this journey of memories and reflections over the last 20 years since 9/11. Dominick is the host of the Great Man Within podcast (highly recommend to check it out and subscribe!) and leader of the Great Man Mastermind. I'm sure I'll have him back on the show soon to talk more about what he does, but for this episode, I brought him on as a guest to interview me, and to bring out the best in me.Last but certainly not least, it's necessary to acknowledge the almost 3,000 lives that were lost on September 11th, 2001. The people on the planes. The people in the towers. The people at the Pentagon. Firefighters. Police Officers. Military Personnel. And even many people who made it out of the Towers that day but died later due to exposure to dust and toxins. I want to be upfront and honest about one thing...doing this episode was for me. It was something I felt that I needed and wanted to do. I wanted to document and preserve my story and experience on 9/11/2001 in an audio format. For my kids one day, and for anyone else who wants to hear my story. And yes, it was somewhat cathartic and therapeutic. But hopefully you can get something out of listening to my story. I hope it can be medicine for others, for people still processing things from that day, or dealing with any other types of trauma. WARNING: there are some tough things to listen to as I recount my story. Depending on your experience from that day, there may be triggers that bring up certain emotions. By all means, if you have to hit that 30 second fast forward button, please do so. We do our best to warn you of these moments. My goal here was not shock value, it was simply to document my experience and to process and explore some of the emotions that still come up for me twenty years later. Last but certainly not least, it's necessary to acknowledge the almost 3,000 lives that were lost on September 11th, 2001. The people on the planes. The people in the towers. Hello horizontal lover. Intimacy investigator. Horizontalist. Typically, horizontal is the podcast about intimacy of all kinds, recorded while lying down. The first part of our conversation is available wherever you listen to podcasts, and the last part is available exclusively to my patrons on Patreon. But this: is Season 4, my Season of Experiments. And this experiment is an installment of Alexa Martinez's that sex chick podcast, which was, full disclosure, recorded while in bed, but (gasp!) sitting upright. For that sex chick, it's episode 34, and for horizontal, episode 128. I'm told it's the longest Alexa has ever gone with a guest, so, here's to horizontal stamina. *wink* In this episode, sex parties done right, I share the orientation I lead at my last play party — which is a Facebook-safe euphemism for a sex party — in its entirety. Alexa's super-connected sex-positive crew of curious kittens, a collective on Facebook called That Sex Group, have been really curious about these parties. Both of us have found it's what a lot of people want to know about when they find out it's a) something we've got a fair amount of experience with, and b) something we're willing to talk about publicly. So here! We made you an episode. This contains the lion's share of wisdom I've gathered about play parties during my 7 years in the sex-positive community. What can happen at a play party, how you prepare for it, how to communicate with your partner or partners about it, some points of etiquette, and some of my personal tales of play parties past. I first met Alexa at a Future of Sex panel, curated by the podcast host and sextech expert, Bryony Cole, who was my guest for episodes 28. future of sex, and 29. sexual attitude readjustment day. This was also the very same event at which I met Bryan Stacy (who was on said panel) & Dominick Q., champions of men's work and co-hosts of The Great Man Within podcast, who were also my guests for a Season Threesome on episodes 76. the discerning dick, and 77. post-sex choice. (In Season Three, I got horizontal with two guests at a time, who were in some kind of relationship with one another. Hence: the season threesome!) Recently, I guested on The Great Man Within, and we did a deepdive into The Stoplight Game. It's episode #220, titled, “How To Ask For What You Want in the Bedroom.” This to say that… in the not-so-distant future, when I have Alexa on my podcast AT LAST, we will all have been guests on each other's shows, and isn't that a particularly pretty podcaster-polycule? Yes. Yes I think it is. Alexa is my kindred. She approaches sex, love, & relationships with the same kind of voracious curiosity I do, tickled through with playfulness. She was one of the first to encourage me to set up shop as an Intimacy Coach, and now, three years later, I finally have. She sometimes has purple hair and is always up for a frolic and a photo opportunity and a deep conversation. You can hear her smiling when she talks, and the way she shares her vulnerable relationship realizations with the world are both an affirmation and an inspiration to me. I love her. I hope you will too. Come get figuratively horizontal with us, in Canggu, Bali, Indonesia, and Austin, Texas.
#240 After 428 days of sitting on Zoom calls, the 21 men of The Great Man Mastermind finally got on planes and in cars, descended upon Austin, Texas, and met each other for the very first time. It was a weekend that we will remember for the rest of our lives. The unfortunate reality is most men have never experienced what it's like to belong to a committed group of men who they trust with both their minds and their hearts. To know that they are safe to both celebrate their biggest successes and reveal their deepest darkness. During this weekend, we ventured into places like: Infidelity sexual abuse body shame marital issues quitting a decades long relationship with alcohol parenting children with mental health challenges coming off a decade of anti-depressant medication ending relationships with porn And that's just the tough stuff. We also ventured into the places where we are building: men preparing to leave lucrative professions to start a second chapter of their professional lives by following their passion starting a group initiative to raise $1m for a mental health charity building virtual and physical homes to attract and welcome the 10 million men. In this Episode: What happens at a Great Man Within retreat Why personal development on your own is slow, shallow and incomplete How to activate the primitive, powerful Wild Man archetype within you Why your path to achievement doesn't have to be one of constant grind, overwhelm and sacrifice Why men are starving for adventure and play in their lives How 45 minutes of undivided attention from high caliber men can upgrade the next 45 years of your life Interested in hearing about our next retreat? Dominick Quartuccio is enlightening the world with masculine inner work and his knowledge about deep-rooted emotional blocks. He is helping men all around the world discover and live the Great Man Within. His podcast and Mastermind is a community of high calibre and high character men living their greatest purpose and optimising their performance in everything they do by connecting with their emotions. #232: Sitting where I sit, I have a chance to see what a lot of men are working on when it comes to inner work. Over the past 12 months, I’ve seen 3 themes emerge that the men in the Great Man Within community are working on. I’ve broken these themes into the 3 skills that high caliber men are developing: Skill #1: Dancing with Your Darkness Anxiety, depression, anger, fear, compulsive behavior, laziness, jealousy…pick your poison. You have your own special breed of darkness that, whether you like it or not, exists within you. As you’ve probably learned, ignoring and suppressing that darkness doesn’t work for very long. You have to face it. Skill #2: Finishing What You Start Your ability to execute on the big and small commitments in your life is the difference between living a mediocre and an exceptional life. But that’s easier said than done. In this episode we talk about the 3 biggest reasons why you don’t finish, and how to overcome that. About This Episode:David Meerman Scott spotted the real-time marketing revolution in its infancy and wrote five books about it including The New Rules of Marketing and PR, with more than 400,000 copies sold in English and available in 29 languages from Albanian to Vietnamese. Now David says the pendulum has swung too far in the direction of superficial online communications. Tech-weary and bot-wary people are hungry for true human connection. Organizations have learned to win by developing what David calls a “Fanocracy” -- tapping into the mindset that relationships with customers are more important than the products they sell to them. He is a massive live music fan, having been to 790 live shows since he was 15 years old, is passionate about the Apollo lunar program, and he loves to surf but isn't very good at it. Coach Burt found his unique voice early in life at the age of 15 by starting his basketball coaching career with a junior pro basketball team.
