During a murder investigation in Cardiff, police officer Gwen Cooper spies on a group of five people called Torchwood, led by Captain Jack Harkness, exiting an SUV. One member, Suzie, uses a metal gauntlet to temporarily bring the victim to life and talk to him. Gwen flees when Jack notices her. The next day, Gwen runs into Jack again at a hospital and, following him, finds a sealed-off area where Jack catches a Weevil. As she escapes, Gwen follows the Torchwood SUV to Roald Dahl Plass, where she loses sight of them. Discovering a local pizza store makes regular deliveries to Torchwood, Gwen disguises herself as a pizza delivery girl. Monitoring her actions, Torchwood willingly let her into their underground hub. Jack shows Gwen around the hub, including the captured Weevil from the hospital. They then leave the hub via a pavement slab lift, which takes them to Roald Dahl Plass in front of the Millennium Centre; the slab makes anyone standing on it unnoticed to passersby. Over drinks, Jack explains that Torchwood is one of several branches, including Torchwood One which was destroyed at Canary Wharf.[N 1] They catch "tons" of aliens and scavenge alien technology that are washed up through a rift in space and time that runs through Cardiff, while preventing others from obtaining them. Jack places an amnesia pill in Gwen's drink, leaving her with no memory of the meeting. The next day at work, Gwen is shown a drawing of the murder weapon, which triggers a series of memories. These solidify when she spots a Millennium Centre programme with the word "Remember" in her own handwriting at home. Outside the Millennium Centre, Suzie explains she killed the man Gwen saw resurrected to test the gauntlet. Suzie pulls a gun on Gwen as she is the only one that can link Suzie to the murder weapon. Jack rises from the pavement lift, and Suzie turns and shoots him in the head. Jack then comes back to life. With no chance of escape, Suzie shoots herself in the head. Gwen now remembers everything. The gauntlet is sealed away. Standing on the roof of the Millennium Centre, Jack tells Gwen that he died once, but was brought back to life,[N 2] and that he can never die. He agrees with Gwen that perhaps Torchwood can do more to help people, and offers her a job, which she accepts.

Gwen Cooper has become a thought partner of mine since our paths first crossed a couple of years back. I love the way she is breaking down how we keep walking the path to becoming the leaders for ourselves that we so often seek in others. Former CIA agent and now Leadership Coach and team enabler, Gwen has over 25 years of global and cross-industry experience leadership development consulting. Let your brain start to drink in her wisdom as we cover:The value of looking at the more negative side of our values and where they have stopped serving us Reimagining work to operate in a way where we get to be the fullest expression of ourselves The steps of psychological safety that need to be in place before we can truly innovate, read more on that hereThat's it is okay to start from where we are, and become deliberate about our work environments moving forwardI came away thinking about how I might start to look at the flip side of my values, and my hope is that you will come away buzzing with ideas also. Let me know what you think!

It will be exclusively available to buy from the BF website until April 30th 2018, and on general sale after this date. Big Finish picks up the events after Miracle Day with Torchwood: Aliens Among Us... Captain Jack and Gwen Cooper have restarted Torchwood. But it's in a very different Cardiff. Something terrible's happened to the city. With every day getting darker, will a new arrival prove to be the ally Torchwood needs? 5.9 Poker Face by Tim Foley Torchwood are in trouble. Terrorist attacks are rocking the city. Control of the police has been ceded to Cardiff's alien masters. And it looks like it's all been arranged by Captain Jack Harkness. Worse, there's a dead woman in the cells who says that Torchwood will be hers by dawn. 5.10 Tagged by Joseph Lidster "I know what you've done. I know what you'll do." The phrase starts appearing everywhere around Cardiff. On posters. On the internet. It's just a prank, isn't it? Only a wave of vigilante crime spreads through the city. People are taking revenge. Suddenly everyone knows what you've done. And they know what you'll do. 5.11 Escape Room by Helen Goldwyn Gwen Cooper, Rhys Williams, and the Colchester-Prices go to try out an escape room. They've heard a lot about them. Especially this one. People keep going into the game and not coming out. But Torchwood will be fine. After all - partners can trust each other. Can't they? 5.12 Herald of the Dawn by James Goss It starts normally enough: a car park full of ramblers is incinerated by a thunderbolt. But the next day it's clear there's something very wrong. Even the manner of his death is surprisingly complex, especially when it turns out that he hasn’t come back alone. While Torchwood try and cope with a new mayor and a terrorist cell, they also have to deal with what, at first, looks to be a plague, and then turns out to be something far, far worse. 5.6 A Kill to a View by Mac Rogers Ritz Towers is a luxury tower block so exclusive not even aliens can get a place there. Author Gwen Cooper joins host Robin Milling to talk about her new novel, Love Saves The Day which is the story of bridging the gap and cementing the bonds of unconditional love between a mother and daughter, told through the voice of a brown tabby cat they rescue named Prudence. Even if you're not a cat lover, you will relate to this story of how animals can ultimately rescue their humans, which Prudence firmly believes she has done. Gwen who says she is an equal opportunity animal lover has three cats of her own, all of them adopted or rescued. She tells Robin the feline heroine in the book is based on her cat Scarlett who made her debut in her bestselling memoir Homer's Odyssey, about her blind cat Homer who became a celebrity in his own right especially amongst the rescue community who rallied to the book. What is most rewarding for Gwen is how Homer's Odyssey inspired many more adoptions of blind, deaf and special needs pets, namely the Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary in North Carolina who have seen a spike in support since the book was published. She hopes Love Saves The Day has a similar impact, embarking on a tour across the country to 15 no-kill shelters whose outreach in their communities benefit the elderly, the homeless and at risk children. Gwen says the temptation to adopt another cat while she's there will be great but realizes living in a New York apartment; three is the charm!
Gwen Cooper, New York Times best-selling author joined Tim in this episode to talk about her recently released book, Love Saves The Day. Tim asked how this book compares to her previous best-selling book Homers Odyssey, the premise of her latest book and how she came to write the book. Tim also asked Gwen about the differences in writing a novel compared to a memoir. Also, Tim discusses with Gwen her involvement with animal welfare organizations. If you’ve enjoyed Gwen’s previous works, you’ll definitely want to listen to this interview to find out more. Questions or Comments? Send them to: tim@petliferadio.com.
