Have you ever found yourself lying awake at night, replaying that moment when you said "yes" but every fiber of your being was screaming "no"? In this transformative episode of The Addicted Mind Plus, hosts Duane and Eric Osterlind dive deep into one of recovery's most overlooked yet crucial components: setting healthy boundaries. They explore why boundaries aren't walls that keep people out, but rather fences that let the right things in. The hosts break down common misconceptions about boundaries, explaining why they're not selfish acts but essential tools for self-respect and healing. Through practical examples and clear guidance, they show how proper boundaries can actually lead to deeper, more meaningful relationships while protecting your recovery journey. What makes this episode particularly valuable is its practical approach. The hosts provide a step-by-step guide to setting and maintaining boundaries, from starting small to handling pushback. They emphasize that while setting boundaries might feel uncomfortable at first, especially for those who haven't seen them modeled in their lives, they're skills that can be learned and improved over time. In this heartfelt episode of Muse Haus, we explore the profound truth that healing isn't about overcoming but rather about integrating. We dive deep into how the experiences from our childhood—whether it's the perfectionism we were conditioned to embody or the Big T's that left us feeling unsafe—shape our beliefs and emotions as adults. Our bodies store these memories, and our subconscious minds carry the impact, often without us even realizing. But healing comes when we reconnect with that inner child, allowing ourselves to grieve, feel, and express the emotions we've long suppressed.Drawing on my own experiences with childhood perfectionism and self-abandonment, I share how unlearning these patterns is key to reclaiming our wholeness. This episode is a compassionate invitation to melt the stored pain, give your inner child the love they need, and feel safe in your own skin again.Tune in for actionable steps to start this inner work, and remember—healing is messy, but it's the most beautiful thing we can give ourselves.Follow me on Instagram or TikTok for more inspiration, and if you need further support, my 1:1 sessions are open to help guide you deeper on your healing journey.Connect with Tara:FacebookInstagram
On this week's solo episode of the IAM podcast, Gervases seizes inspiration from a recent client interaction, discussing how patterns of disempowerment have left many women with the sneaky survival strategy of hyper-vigilance around the needs of others, and how permission, resource, and pleasure can allow us to bring more regulated versions of ourselves forward to meet life's initiations. Listen in for questions that will help you begin to uncover what gives you life, what's blocking you from your pleasure, and how you can accept permission to wake up and reclaim who you are instead of who you think everyone needs you to be. We all carry a painstory, a personal narrative shaped by our experiences of trauma, loss, and hardship. Understanding and acknowledging this painstory is crucial for healing after significant life events such as divorce, loss, or abuse. By exploring the origins and impact of our pain, we can begin to unravel the emotional knots that bind us to the past. This process of self-awareness allows us to identify patterns of suffering, recognize triggers, and gradually disempower the pain that has accumulated over time. Through compassionate self-reflection and acceptance, we can transform our painstory from a source of ongoing distress into a catalyst for growth and resilience, fostering a deeper sense of inner peace and emotional freedom. Triggers of the Pain-Body: Negative Thoughts and Emotions: Negative thoughts and emotions can feed the pain-body, causing it to grow stronger and more influential over an individual's state of mind and behavior. Relationships: Close relationships, particularly those involving conflict or intense emotional interactions, can activate the pain-body. Stressful Situations: High-stress circumstances or situations can trigger the pain-body, bringing old emotional wounds to the surface. Healing the Pain-Body: Awareness and Presence: The first step to healing is to become aware of the pain-body's presence. Recognizing when it is active allows an individual to disidentify from it. Practicing presence and staying in the "now" reduces the pain-body's power. Observation Without Judgment: Observing the pain-body without judgment or reaction can weaken it. By acknowledging its presence without engaging with it emotionally, an individual can prevent it from gaining more energy. Acceptance: Accepting the pain and understanding it as a part of the human experience can help in the healing process. This acceptance involves not resisting or trying to escape the pain, but rather allowing it to be without feeding it further. Inner Body Awareness: Focusing on the physical sensations in the body can help in grounding and staying present. This practice can diminish the influence of the pain-body. Of all the amazing and challenging tasks that Jesus left His followers to do after His ascension, one of the most powerful and yet perplexing tasks has got to be the command to heal the sick. And yet, a quick glance at the gospels reveals that healing the sick was a key way that Jesus revealed the Kingdom and made believers out of unbelievers. But can we carry on His healing ministry? In this episode Kevin discusses the continuing call to heal the sick, and ways to join the Holy Spirit's healing ministry in everyday life.

— As they were finalizing their manuscript, Ronni's daughter sent them a screengrab of an Instagram post from “jabbieapp” that read: “Never underestimate a cycle breaker. Not only did they experience years of generational trauma but they stood in the face of the trauma and fought to say, “This ends with me.” This is brave. This is powerful. This comes at a significant cost. Never underestimate a cycle breaker. Ronni and Jennie read it, and cried. A few weeks later, Ronni found a post on Instagram from Xavier Dagba and sent it to Jennie: “All this time you thought you were nothing but the black sheep of your lineage, whereas you were being initiated to be their liberator. Healing looks good on you. Keep going. Jennie cried, and something in her shifted. These two amazing sisters started their journey with a sincere desire to spare their children the pain they had endured—to break the intergenerational cycle of abuse and addiction so that they could live beautiful lives. They also hoped that they could reparent themselves and live beautiful lives of their own. And they did, if imperfectly. Though they are still learning and growing, Ronni and Jennie have each created something well beyond what we could have imagined at the beginning of this ride. This means they are more than survivors. They are, indeed, rockstars!!! Valeria interviews Ronni Tichenor and Jennie Weaver — the author of “Healing Begins With Us: Breaking The Cycle Of Trauma And Abuse And Rebuilding The Sibling Bond” Ronni Tichenor has a PhD in sociology, specializing in family studies, from the University of Michigan, and Jennie Weaver, has received her degree from the Vanderbilt School of Nursing and is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with over 25 years of experience in family practice and mental health. Their book, Healing Begins with Us shares their inspiring and hopeful story of healing from their painful upbringing. Show Summary: “Learning about my body's physiology has been empowering. I now understand how small changes in my environment and consumption can greatly impact my well-being. As a result, I don't rely solely on experts to take control of my health.” Illness can often feel like nothing more than a hindrance, weighing you down and disrupting your daily life. But what if it could be the catalyst for transformative healing? We'll explore this unconventional perspective with our guest and Gutsy Health member, Kristina Funk. Kristina had always been interested in healing the body, but after experiencing a series of stressful events, she fell into emotional eating and felt ashamed of her body.It wasn't until experiencing severe irritable bowel syndrome that Kristina took her health seriously. Despite testing negative for parasites, she instinctively knew to do a parasite cleanse and thus began her healing journey. In this episode, discover how changing your mindset and slowing down can lead to a more profound healing experience.Let's rewire your brain for health. Tune in to Episode 60 of the Gutsy Health Podcast to learn more!Exceptional Highlights:Illness can be the best teacher if we listen to what it's trying to tell us.You can be safe in your body even if you feel uncomfortable, and your worth is innate. It is not your symptoms causing you stress but the stories you create around those symptoms that cause the problem.Show Highlights: We subject ourselves to emotional torture when cognitive dissonance exists between our knowledge and our behaviors. Kris Funk 6:26By listening to the podcast, Kris approached her relationship with food and body with gentleness and compassion. When you feel negative or go into a shame spiral, pause and recognize the inner child in you that needs love and healing. Kris Funk 19:33When physical symptoms arise, remember that your body is trying to tell you something, which is your cue to listen. Instead of judging sickness as bad, view it as a signal for your body to slow down and take a break.Kris Funk 29:16We should stop tying our worth to productivity and remind ourselves that it's okay to rest and take up space.Shifting your internal dialogue from “I have to heal” to “I get to nurture my body” can be life-changing.Juanique Roney 44:14The body is capable of healing, so we no longer have to identify as sick anymore. You are the expert of your own body. Beth DuPree, MD is a healer who chose to be a physician. She is an integrative medical physician who is board certified general surgeon and who specialized in diseases of the breast for the last twenty years of her career. As a surgeon with more than thirty-five years of experience, she realized that healing is truly her passion. Her approach to health is one of "wholeness." In other words, she treats the whole person and not simply the disease and partners with her patients on their journey to healing. The most important piece of what she's done with patients is the energetic connection that she makes with them to get them to the other side of health. To continue the conversation with Beth and learn more about her, check out her website, where you can also send her a message on the contact page . And although we didn't mention this during the interview, check out her book "The Healing Consciousness: A Doctor's Journey to Healing." — Most individuals who have been victimized by their families do not become aware of their abuse until they have reached adulthood. We experience very distinct and expected dynamics when we grow up in a home that is characterized by violence, addiction, and abuse. Denial is the most basic of these. Fear is another key dynamic. Trying to unravel a lifetime of emotional pain, fear and dysfunction is a distressing slow task. Healing requires examining what has happened, and is happening right now at all levels —mentally, emotionally, and physically. This episode is about two sisters and survivors who found a way to come to light from a tragic cycle of inter-generational trauma and abuse. Hello future ancestors, I know it's been a while - but I definitely have some updates on life and so many things that are unfolding, or better yet, unraveling. As many of you know, I started Your Story Medicine with a deep curiosity about how to connect with my ancestors especially as someone who was born and raised in the United States, away from my parents' homeland and the kind of village support they were raised with. In my previous solo podcast episode I announced that I would be taking a sabbatical for the remainder of the year to tend to my wellness and to reconnect with my own ancestors. My intention was to return to Thailand to study with Homprang, the traditional midwife that originally taught me womb healing when I was propelled into this path after being fired from my nonprofit job in 2017, and I was so excited to be a student again. The last time I had been back to my motherland was before Your Story Medicine was even birthed which happened at the peak of my Saturn Return five years ago. You can listen to my first episode ever to hear more, since this is what essentially sparked my path into ancestral reclamation and entrepreneurship. I essentially created the very space I needed at that time of my life, in a predominately white industry that was abundant with cultural appropriation and misrepresentation. I thought that returning to Thailand this time would be a way for me to be reminded of my medicine, but spirit clearly had other plans for me. And In this past month, my life has taken a very different turn.
