¡Hola! Stef Hosted on Acast. The company has made great strides to release the Frontier X2, the world's first wearable smart heart device that allows endurance athletes like Allen to closely assess their heart strength and health. The Frontier X2 monitors the heart continuously over long periods of time, providing endurance athletes with unprecedentedly detailed data that is not only valuable in keeping tabs on overall heart health, but also in optimising training and racing. Unlike traditional heart rate monitors that only record beats per minute, the chest-worn Frontier X2 also records the core functioning of the heart and lungs – generating a continuous ECG graph. Users can thereby monitor and correlate this ECG data with their breathing rate, heart rate, heart strain, and even their specific activity on a detailed dashboard – offering a complete report of your real-time cardiac and respiratory health. Using cutting-edge hardware, software, and advanced patented algorithms, Fourth Frontier combines the best of cardiac science and wearable technology to afford its users access to data, metrics, and insights that wre previously only available in labs and clinics. What's New in the 303: Bill's stories! Inaugural Purgatory 4 Adventure Relay Takes to the High Country It was a cool overcast but calm morning at Lake Maloya and Sugarite Canyon State Park as The Purgatory 4 Adventure Relay took to the trails and water Saturday morning September 10, 2022 for its inaugural run. The Purgatory 4 Adventure Relay took the place of the Master of the Mountain Adventure Race that had been held at the lake in years past. The MOM, as it was known, became a victim of the pandemic in 2020 and was revived when Jared Chatterly picked it up as the new Director of Recreation in Trinidad and renamed it The Purgatory 4. The name comes from the four events and the Purgatory River which traverse the area. The event trail run is still the same as the MOM which is a six-mile trek up and around Horse Mesa. The race begins at the boat ramp and goes around to the north side of the mesa and up and back down from the south and back to the boat ramp. The contestant then jumps in a kayak and traverses about a 3-mile course around Lake Maloya. Once back at the boat ramp contestants grab their bikes and head out. With The Purgatory 4 being much the same as the MOM it does now change and ends at the TSC Prator Gun Range east of Trinidad where the shotgun portion of the event is held. From Lake Maloya to the gun range is a long way as most people would think. However, this is where the bicycle portion of the event becomes more of an adventure as it takes Las Animas County Road 85.5 north up and over San Fransisco Pass and down into the Nile Canyon area where it meets County Road 22 and then takes County Road 24.6 up to the gun range. The new route is about 15 miles versus the 25 mile road course that the MOM had. This year the event had 48 registered participants but one team and two individuals had to cancel leaving 44 participants. Chatterly noted he was going to be happy with a smaller number of participants yet became ecstatic as the numbers grew and went over 40 contestants. I’m REALLY amped up to say the guest in today's episode is the former 2x IRONMAN World Champion and one of my favorites all time triathletes, Patrick Lange! If you’ve been following professional triathlon in the last few years, then you’ve more than likely heard about Patrick as he’s been one of the most talked about triathletes out there. It was only back in 2016 when Patrick made his IRONMAN debut at IM Texas in which he came first place and then continued on that season with a 3rd overall at IM KONA; breaking the run course record. This opened up a floodgate of sponsorship opportunities for Patrick which really helped him kickstart his long course career. He then went on to win consecutive IRONMAN World Championships in 2017 and 2018 breaking the overall course record each year and then becoming the first ever athlete to finish KONA in sub 8 hours. Hence his hashtag line #BetheRecordBreaker Patrick is known to go full throttle on the big island but unfortunately in 2019 he had to drop out of the race leaving many people guessing what had happened. Well, I am excited to talk to Patrick to chat about what happened that race day and leading up to the race. But more importantly, what is ahead going further as we start the new 2020 race season. Some other themes we explore in today’s podcast: - is the history of his early days in his triathlon career - his day to day nutrition strategies - his on-course nutrition strategy - And of course, we talk all things KONA – because nobody thinks about the IM World Championships on a daily basis more than Patrick Lange! One race doesn’t define an athlete, so expect Patrick back at the start line in KONA 2020 with vengeance and a desire to reclaim his title from his fellow Countrymen Jan Frodeno. This is an awesome podcast episode so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did; and now… let’s get into it!

Now today marks the official launch of our new segment within the Pacing and Racing Podcast which I am super thrilled about! Now of course, I will continue on with the triathlon interviews that are focused on training tips for the age group triathletes. But what I felt was missing from the channel was to have a) race coverage and more in-depth discussion on pre-race coverage or post-race recaps. And b) having a secondary perspective in on the interviews or race discussion. So. That’s why I am happy to introduce our new weekly segment within the Pacing and Racing Podcast, called the Triathlon Sideline chat – with your TWO host…(yes!) you heard it right; two hosts! Steven Langenhuizen and Jenna-Caer Seefried! Now in today’s episode you’ll get to hear about our future plans with the triathlon sideline chat and what you can expect as we get into a competitive 2019 Triathlon season between IRONMAN, the Super League, and the World Triathlon Series. We also talk about a post race recap of the 4 big races that were on last weekend which included IM Texas, WTS Bermuda, Challenge Cancun and IM 70.3 Marbella! We’ll then end if off with discussing our pre-race predictions and analysis leading into this weekends exciting races.
We keep quiet and let young British professionals Sam Pictor and Sam Proctor do the talking and interview each other. The pair raced in the pro ranks for the first time in 2018, they each won an Outlaw Half and they both secured their first Ironman 70.3 podium finish, getting 2nd and 3rd at Weymouth 70.3. Proctor just made his debut at IM distance, finishing 8th in a stacked field at IM Texas in 8.14! If you've ever dreamt of racing pro then you'll love this interview as both Sams talk openly about the realities of trying to make a living from the sport.Show Sponsors:https://Thriva.co - Take health tracking to a new level with your personalised at-home finger-prick blood test. From the time she was 5 years old, Jocelyn McCauley had athletic aspirations. At that time she saw herself as an Olympic medalist. She channeled her dreams into cross country, a sport she competed in throughout high school and college at BYU. After graduation, she discovered her love for longer distances and began running everything from 5Ks to half marathons. She registered for her first half-Ironman in 2013 at IM Muncie, completing that race in under five hours -- only 11 weeks after giving birth to her first child. She followed up that performance at IM Texas in 2014 with a full distance, where she won her age group and finished as the 2nd amateur female, qualifying for Kona. Later that year, she competed at Kona -- her second ever full Ironman -- and was the first female age-grouper to finish that race. She decided at that time to go pro. Since then, she has won 2016 IM Mallorca, IM New Zealand in 2017, as well as 70.3 Vichy, France. She also finished 2017 IM Kona in 10th place, with a 30th place finish in 2018.
We are back after Macca's travels around Europe and the US with Superleague. The good thing? We have lots to discuss as we sink our teeth into the recent drafting controversy around IM Texas. Chris gives his thoughts on how we can resolve the growing problem with short, over-crowded courses. We also discuss a whole range of results including IM South Africa, WTS Bermuda, 70.3 Oceanside and Crowie's impressive result in China. We specifically talk about the domination Frodo demonstrated at Oceanside, Lucy Charles' performance in South Africa, swimming faster than most of the male pros and the impressive racing from the Commonwealth Games. We also discuss when is it ok for Macca to make a comeback to racing? As a former pro who loves the sport, is there ever a time where he would be able to come back and race as an age grouper without being lynched by the masses? We make a number of announcements for MaccaX including new team sponsors, coaches and upcoming camps.
