Once again this year, I'm privileged to have Giants' Senior Director of International Scouting, Joe Salermo, on the podcast to talk about the latest class of international signees into the Giants' organization. That class is headed by a player that many evaluators consider the top 16-year-old talent this year, shortstop Josuar de Jesus Gonzalez, and we talk a lot about that young man (including what we should call him). Joe also discusses the other recently signed players, the impact that Rōki Sasaki had on this year's process, and we look back to the performance of previous year's players as they make their way up the Giants' system.A lot of those players are going to be showing up in this year's There R Giants' Top 50 which will be rolling out starting next week — which makes this a great time to become a There R Giants' subscriber. There R Giants is a reader-supported publication. On the latest episode of the FutureSox Podcast Ian Eskridge and James Fox started with a look at the playoffs series that are currently underway, and noted a few ex-White Sox players that have been involved. They then transitioned to the recent rumor of Buck Showalter throwing his hat in the ring to manage the 2025 Southside club. Will the Sox go for another 65+ yo to helm the bench? They also go into who they think is the leading candidate at this particular moment. They moved to the AFL preview and some talk on some of the guys that will represent the White Sox in Glendale before moving to the International Scouting situation. The White Sox have fired scouts in the Dominican, Venezuela, Mexico, and Panama. Looks like a complete restructuring of the scouting system as had been suggested. They finished up the episode with a quick run through of the recent MLB Trade Rumors suggested arbitration numbers and who they cut or keep. A fun episode tonight with a lot of chat interaction.

Hi everyone! On episode 29 of The Move Abroad Podcast, I am talking about something that you may have thought about but are unsure if you should do it. You are at the point of deciding to move, but now you are curious if you should take a scouting trip...and I say go for it! Of course, you can watch YouTube videos, read up on blogs, and join social media groups, but if you can swing it, I think it is very smart to explore the new city and country that you are moving to or even considering.Consider how your everyday life would look like in the new city. Now actually do those things. The tourist activities can wait — it is time to actually figure out if you can adjust to that way of living. What are your non-negotiables? What about things you would be flexible on? There is so much to consider. REMEMBER — you do NOT have to do a scouting trip, but they are awesome! Here's what we talk about in today's episode:You visit a country you thought you would love, but you hate it. That's okay! Move on to the next.Is a scouting trip absolutely necessary? No, but it is a great way to get your feet wet before making this huge decision. Perhaps entertain the idea.Do you get a good vibe or happy energy from your city of interest? Really sit on that.Make sure to talk to the locals and ask questions. Really make sure you are getting to know the area that you will be living in.Resources Mentioned:→ Move Abroad Crash Course→ Escape Plan Bootcamp Waitlist → Freedom Life Course + Private Coaching → Episode 21 — The Ultimate Leap: Relocating to Mexico with School-Aged Kids Ft. The Nats rough stretch continued as they were flattened 11-5 by the Marlins on Saturday afternoon. They have dropped 6 of their past 7 and are a wretched 2-10 this season vs. the Marlins. Mark & Al though begin with the big organizational news that came pregame as Johnny DiPuglia, veteran Director of International Scouting since 2009, is resigning from his position. Is this related to the ongoing contractual negotiations between Mike Rizzo and the franchise? (17:00) Trevor Williams had an awful outing as he allowed 4 HRs in as many innings. Williams has now given up 10 homers in his past 5 outings and his ERA now currently sits at 5.21. (25:00) The struggles of Williams leads to a look at where Cade Cavalli fits into the organization's plans when he returns from Tommy John surgery. Will he be ready by Opening Day or will he need more time? (34:00) Sunday will mark the 13th consecutive day that the Nationals have taken the field and this has spanned across 4 cities and 2 countries. This series has seen plenty of sloppy play; especially on the defensive side, and a much needed off-day awaits on Monday. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
The Agents Angle - The World's Premier Football (Soccer) Agent Show
Whilst many believe football agents should be 'put on trial' for some of the reported and alleged misdemeanors committed by some agents, 'The Agent's Angle' looks at an increasing trend whereby players are signing short-term (trial) representation agreements (contracts) with their agency representatives. Is it a positive step, a sign of mistrust, or a 'weakening of the grip' of some agents who may use longer-term representation agreements to solely benefit themselves and 'fall short' in the service level they provide? Our guest on 'The Agent's Angle' this week is Ged Searson, who as well as having experience as a Premier League scout and working across the breadth of the English football spectrum, has also worked as an international scout and advisor to National Teams and Football Associations around the world. With Ged's experience, knowledge, and expert opinion, 'The Agent's Angle' explores the close association and relationship between football scouts and football agents. Looking at not only how these relationships can be productive, but also where and why they may fail due to a lack of knowledge and understanding of the roles and responsibilities performed by one another. In addition, discussing where the two industries overlap and 'the lines become blurred' in terms of the regulations, leaving people at risk of not just agents and scouts breaching football regulations, but also clubs and players (as clients and employers). 'The Agent's Angle' also takes a look at how one Premier League football star 'reportedly' used statistical data in a contract renegotiation with his club in the absence of an agent, and whether all is as has been reported. Are statistics and data a threat to the football agent profession, or are such resources along with scouting reports, a tool to be utilised by professional agents in ensuring they optimise the representation services they give to clients, whether they be players, clubs, or coaches/managers.? ------- Show Running Order : (01:24) - Agents on Trial and The Transfer of Rasmus Højlund to Manchester United (04:30) - Football Agent and Player Disputes - When Things Go Wrong With Representation (06:07) - Agent and Player Representation is Often More Complicated Than it Seems (07:24) - A Shrewd Move by a Footballer & Clarity for All Involved (09:55) - Guest Interview: Ged Searson - Former Premier League Scout, International Scout & Scout Educator (11:32) - Starting Out as a Football Scout (13:52) - The Relationship Between Scouts and Football Agents (17:45) - Are The Lines Too 'Blurred' Between Agents & Scouts in Terms of Knowledge & Regulation? The first thing to know is that not all professional baseball scouts are the same. They have different priorities for assessing players, along with different backgrounds and expertise. One scout who's been doing this a while is Carlos Gomez. Not only does he have experience pitching professionally, but he's been working within baseball for over a decade. In that time he's learned to assess the qualities of elite players. Most notably he worked as the Director of International Scouting for the Los Angels Angles and has some keen insights on Latin American baseball prospects.
